COMPETITIVE MODERN GENERAL MAGIC MTG M:TG barely not good enough edition

fuck off, there wasn't a general up

Ojutai's Command return Snappy and counter Death's Shadow, flash back Fatal Push and kill the Tarmogoyf.

Ojutai's Command return Snappy, chump the goyf, Path to Exile the Death's Shadow and draw a card.

>cryptic command does all of the above and has more versatility overall

Cryptic Command returns Snapcaster Mage and flashes back Push/Path?

Why aren't people putting Lili of the Veil in esper control?

Why aren't people putting Lili in Grixis Control? It distracts from the game plan.

Kill their creatures and grind them into dust.
Esper has Think Twice and Lingering Souls that can be discarded for 'free' and G1 Death's Shadow doesn't have many creatures out so -2 will kill either goyf or the shadow

I love how shitters don't realise that the Hardened Scales + Rites of Passage combo with Walking Ballista dies to Bolt.

>cryptic can bounce a permanent
>cryptic can counter anything
>cryptic cost 4 mana

>ojutai's C needs snapcaster on gy and remove also
>ojutai's C only counters creature spells
>you need 4 mana for ojutai's plus 1 for the remove (5 mana). 6 mana if you want to counter something.

you're probably trolling but cryptic is far superior than ojutai's C in almost every aspect.

With all these price drops incomming, what's the most efficient competitive deck (T1-2) I can build on a budget (500-600$) ?

I like Through the breach, Dredge, Amulet Titan (not sure about how good it is), and UR storm.

I also love Lantern but it's out of my budget.

lili is more of a grindy midrange card, not a control piece

hence jund/abzan as opposed to UBx control

Ojutai C takes a cryptic slot and you'll never get the setup against Death's Shadow :
>Turn 5
>Both Path and snapcaster in the graveyard

>I like bad decks
just build affinity

>

Although is a bit out of your budget, I would recommend Affinity. I already had 11 different decks, and affinity is the one i always come back for. There is something about it: the crazy plays that feels like combo, the regular beat-down aggro, or the risk when you know the hate is coming. It feels different, it plays different. One match you play as linear aggro, other you play as midrange (etched champion with aether grids), it just feels different from the rest.

I know, I kinda like it too but it's just so expensive...

Another thing to consider is it has been top tier consistently for the longest time and is more likely to be hit by a ban than other decks. Also, it doesn't run many cards that can be used in other decks outside of Mox Opal.

Why would you need other decks when you have affinity?
Just kidding. The fun part is that all the decks I enjoyed the most lack staples (fetch and shocklands). I sold my Dredge recently and currently building Eldrazi Tron, so I could give some use to my Chalices of the Void. But to be honest I'm that asshole that had 12 wooded foothills because I had 3 decks that used them, and I disliked changing cards between them (used triple sleeve).

r8 my snek meme list
idk what I'm doing with this sideboard right now

8whack or mono green stompy?

...

No Anafenza/10

Is this why this shit is spiking like hell right now ? Lmao

None, if you are on a budget and want to play aggro play Merfolks

Nah it's jank enough as it is

>merfolk
>budget

It's the cheapest T2 deck. What's the point spending money on cards if you only win when your opponent floods ?

Unless you are playing on a casual meta ofc, then I would recommand 8w

I want to proxy a deck to use competitively, but I also want to MAGA. Are there any good American counterfeiters to use?

Step 1 is kys

At which point should one buy staples following MM17 release? I am looking to buy fetches, Snapcasters and Blood Moons, although I also need 1 of Cavern of Souls and some Stony Silences. Should I preorder singles or wait a month or two until after the release?

It should have had a 3 cmc with a white kicker/replicate like mechanic to get the second mode. Would have been flavorful because blue white is all about tactics and setting the pace of battle.

ky@ buddy

kysmm

so what cards do you rare draft for modern masters?

Is there anything in black that makes an Esper Flash style deck worth playing over Jeskai?

mtggoldfish.com/articles/modern-on-sale
According to this article, you should buy about 1-4 months after release.

No hierarch. Set is a God damn failure

Jeskai has Bolt. Name any card and I will tell you why bolt is better.

Find a flaw.

how does it eat with the tusk in front of the mouth?

Thoughtseize?

Please don't bully Hulk. It's clearly retarded.

Have you got your playset?

It just exists to be eaten. Nothing more, nothing less.

no

Dude, really? Still going on about your stupid meme deck? Nobody cares

Swords to Plowshares
Jace the Mind Sculptor
Sensei's Divining Top
Counterbalance
Force of Will
Brainstorm
Ponder

Here's what I'm sleeving up for FNM this week. What kind of stuff should be in the sideboard? I don't really know what to expect except for the one guy who always brings BTL scapeshift and the diehard burn player.

LANDS:
4 Eldrazi Temple
12 Tron Lands
1 Cavern of Souls
4 Windswept Heath
1 Breeding Pool
1 Temple Garden
1 Forest
1 Plains
CREATURES:
4 Hierarch
4 Displacer
4 Thought-Knot
4 Reality Smasher
4 Drowner of Hope
2 World Breaker
PLANESWALKERS:
2 Ugin
ARTIFACTS:
4 Map
SORCERIES:
4 Stirrings
INSTANTS:
4 Path

It's hardly a meme

You're right, memes are funny

I'm going to a new to me store and haven't played since eldrazi winter. I have pregitban storm, but don't want to get gifts and barals by tonight.
I have UW Memeria Titan. Has that deck significantly changed in the past year or whatever? Spell queller? Reflector mage? Renegade rallier?

It's not anything. Just trash

>Memes are funny

Where have you been?

If you think burn is going to be a problem, there's stuff like Kor Firewalker and Feed the Clan to keep you alive so you can get your beaters out.
Other than that, there's a general sideboard that is pretty normal in Baant Eldrazi:
>Stony Silence
>Worship
>Blessed Alliance
>Engineered Explosives
>Thragtusk
>World Breaker
>Grafdigger's Cage
etc.

>Bant Eldrazi tron

This looks like a very spicy meme

Probably sideboard Walking Ballista, RiP, Blessed Alliance and/or Rest for the Weary for Burn and DSJ, engineered explosives. Swagtusk etc

What's the best UB deck that's not faeries or mill

I'm digging deep here so meme decks are ok

There is none

Awful thread desu

Well then I'm off to go brew

>bant tron drazi user

Good luck, hope you'll go atleast 3-2.

>3 your face

I've somehow assembled enough parts from years of EDH to assemble the bulk of a Breach Titan deck, I'd just need a couple things.

How's the deck fare these days?

Thanks for the advice. Here's what I'm looking at for a sideboard currently:
1 Spellskite
1 Worship
2 Grafdiggers Cage
1 RiP
2 EE
1 Thragtusk
2 Warping Wail
2 Stubborn Denial
3 Blessed Alliance
Thanks mate, I'm going to need it.

It's all right actually, pretty much the best "combo" deck in modern right now.

Dredge is still the best combo deck

You spelled cheerios wrong

>inb4 wizards bans opal because of my patrician combo deck

I don't think wotc is going to do shit to it since it hasn't put up any results.

Oooh that's encouraging. Also tickles my inner Timmy/Johnny, my EDH career is almost exclusively "cheat this huge creature into play"

best island and swamp basics? Besides unhinged

Unhinged is trash

>fizzle with mom hug and do nothing is the best anything

Cheerios is shit mate.

Sure if you don't know how to play dredge it will be bad.
It also can function more like a midrange deck with a combo finish if need be.
It's still great, just not oppressive.

Mirage for swamps, Ice Age for Swamps and Islands and Urzas Saga for Islands

MM2017 is fucking hot garbage.

...

EV of rares after after a conservative price drop are already less than MM2017 you stupid faggot.

No hierarch, no buy

>tfw sleeved up jeskai saheeli combo
how sick is my meme deck

I don't know, you didn't post any cards

You'll get fucked harder than your sister will tonight.

minus ten thousand meme points for jeskai, and poo in loo waifu

What does this deck do that traditional midrange doesn't?

Nothing I just want to play esper colors

Typicalboringmidrange/10
Doesn't look that great either desu. You really want something that is going to put you in the lead. Tasigur and gurmag will get killed and you'll have no win con

>tfw dredge has multiple lines of play and things you can be doing every turn
>tfw fun
You guys haven't ever played the deck before have you?
>dredge is linear solitaire

Dredge is linear solitaire you fucking stupid faggot

Why?

>discard dredger
>dredge
>cheat creatures in play
>kill opponent by creatures or conflagrate
>occasionally refuse a narcomoeba to play around board wipe
>hold land for bloodghast
Wow Dredge is truly a deep deck you sure showed my user.

Whatever dude. It doesn't always work like that.
Lots of lines of interaction after board as well. What to dredge back and playing around hate

Why post recoil? You got me excited. I thought I had somehow missed it being reprinted in standard.

>tfw Tron has multiple lines of play like which Tron land in my hand to play first.
>Tfw fun.
You guys have never t3 karned with a control deck before have you? I sure love aggressively for a specific combination of cards in my control deck.
>Tfw people think I'm cancer.

Not the same but stay salty

what are the meta control decks in modern
do people still play grixis?

Lilly ruins your hand which kind of defeats the purpose of playing blue.

I'm so sorry user, control is dead..

Rate my shitbrew
Looking for improvements.

Been playing on Xmage for a week with pretty shitty results, but im determined to make my shitbrew somewhat viable.

Bad matchups include most forms of control.
I tend to do better against creature based aggro/delver variants.

This is the modern thread

Yep, and i'm presenting my modern deck, looking for advice to help it become a slightly more competitive modern deck, for use in the modern mtg format.
I dont get what the issue is?

you posted casual tribal garbage in a competitive modern general. Nobody can give you advice to make it more competitive because it is garbage.

try the edh thread it seems more your speed.

this is what happens with shit OP's people

It's just really bad my dude. Like just do a Doran deck if you must
