I know that Lovisa is simply red but I hope her deck is not monocolored

I hate to say it because the art is really good, but I prefer the old Lovisa's art.

I love Wayne Reynolds' art though so take that as you will as an indicator of what kind of art I like and Brian Snoddy has a similar style.

Jhoira got darker after she got trapped in the time rift. She was always non-white though. She got stronger and darker and immortal as she drank from the time rift waters.

WHY is Lovisa just a human? She is clearly a barbarian or warrior and potentially an advisor.

I love the concept, but I hate the card due to this glaring flaw.

Unless I'm misremembering the timeline, she was printed before creatures had more than one type. When they went back and errata'd all of the necessary lords to also be the type of creature they are the lord of in the big creature migration w.e the fuck they didn't errata anything mechanical that could change the card like p/t. Lavish hasn't the unfortunate mistake of already having her bonus count as applying to her in her base p/t and would need 3 additional creature types on her line in order to make the phrasing "All other..." make sense. They went the lazy route and just didn't change her.

Because her old type was Human Lord, and they never added anything to replace it when they just dropped Lord from the game entirely. And this is the first time she's ever been reprinted.

There really was no reason to drop the Lord type.
Simply being able to search all "lord" creatures for creature that have the "lord effect" (+1/+1 to specific tribal), would have been useful.

This makes sense on a technical level but if I were wizards, I wouldn't have made that decision; seeing such a hideous card and knowing the context behind it does not compel me to buy the product, first or second market.

I understand that there are certain restrictions when it comes to errata and older cards. What I don't understand is why Wizards actively chooses to reprint cards that can't be reprinted with coherent errata when they have thousands to choose from.

What they should have done was make "Lord" a rare keyword (like protection now); and it simply gives all other creatures that share at least one type with it +1/+1.

Even if they didn't want to associate the type with the ability, they could still use the type for creatures that represent nobles and whatnot.

Think like how all "pilots" have to do with vehicles without needing a keyword.

Jhoira was actually darker skinned in her original novel. She was described as "sharp-eyed and dark skinned" and the Ghitu in general were "bronze-skinned". If anything, it was the card art that made her white.

Blame them abandoning the Lord type and also refusing to do functional errata anymore. Nowadays this card would be Legendary Creature - Human Barbarian or Warrior and pump other creatures. They did errata her to that at one point but I think they realized that was a functional change and switched it back.

Just keep the decks as they are and make a crucible.
Some decks were woefully inadequate vs their partner (Nissa, Kiora, Dragons, Koth, Demonic) but actually play much better against other decks. And there's only four decks that are geniunelly superior to the gamut of others in power level: Elspeth Knight-Errant, Sorin, Tibalt and Elves.

Don't listen this piece of shit. Duel Decks are one of the best way to start playing MtG. If you have a friend willing to play with you then you should pick one. Most of these decks are nicely balanced and decent. I'm still using cards from my first duel deck
