What snacks do you eat at the gaming table?

Heavy beer is a snack.

NO

NOT AGAIN

NOT THIS

GO BACK TO THE SHADOW

inb4 cosmic brownie shakes.

Damn it's been a good while since I saw that one.

snack stuff I've made.
>guacamole and chips
>almonds stuffed into olives
>lemoned apple slices
>orange wedges
>brie stuffed cranberry monkey bread
>bannana bread muffins filled with cream cheese
>bbq chicken sliders
>chicken parmesan sliders
>regular sliders
>avocado goat cheese prosciutto wraps
>blueberry coffee cake
>caramelized brussel sprouts
>pan fried pesto sandwiches w/ raw cherry tomatoes

I also made some lemon garlic shrimp scampi linguini last session; but that was more of a planned meal break rather than mid session snack. Whenever I am not messing around in the kitchen the gaming table food is from: the local pizza place, a costco combo/pepperoni pizza, take out mexican, and bbq pork banh mi sandwiches from the Vietnamese bakery.

And you only drink it when your character has a drink, right?

Generally speaking, we play after lunch and until dinner. So people usually bring some fruits, peanuts, perhaps a sandwich or some home baked snack like a liquorice-chocolate brownie.

For beverages, we usually drink either water or stout. Sometimes coffee/tea. Rarely soda/juice.

We ussually eat trash food court shit before the game, though sometimes we'll go to a mid scale restaurant, ussually asian.

During the game we eat chips, cookies, lollies, and whatever mystery snacks that one player picked up from the asian grocer which we can't read the label on.

Afterwards we might go to the donut shop for donuts and imported soft drinks because if there's one thing America does well it's make soft drinks. Why the fuck isn't cherry cola available everywhere?

MEATBREAD

>no snap peas
>ranch instead of hummus
this crudite platter is fucking gay

Usually chips, all kind of nuts, crackers, bretzel, cold cuts and bread... that kind of stuff. We make one longer break during game to have some real food (either we cook something simple like spaghetti or lasagna, or we go eat something outside).

Everyone is responsible for its own snacks and drinks. In term of drinks we have usually some beers and a variety of soft drinks.

What hell hole doesn't have cherry soda? Wanna blow your mind? Find cherry vanilla

WATER

JUST WATER

YOU FUCKING FAT LOSERS

queef

>water has no vita-mins or activated mineraloonies

I usually have some sushi or a sub. Sometimes we'll buy a pizza if we're too lazy and/or engrossed in the game to take a break to make the half-hour round trip to the grocery store.

For drinks, we usually pick up a 24-pack of whatever pop everyone is in the mood for. If there's alcohol in the fridge we usually have some of that too.

There's usually a bowl of chips that constantly gets refilled throughout the session, and everyone chips in with some baking or savory thing.

I usually do brownies/scones/small apple pies/caramel slices, etc.

What the fuck are you a middle class housewife with two kids in elementary school? This just seems like really weird food to have when you are gaming, seems more like a get together of wine moms.

>eat at the gaming table

Disgusting, no.

We break and eat out.

Does anyone else remember this thread?

Mostly cheese, last tuesday it was 12 months old Comté, picodons, a persillé de Tignes and fromage fort on baguette toasts. Slices of saucisson, and we drank a Rasteau wine

Veeky Forums?

share the gore

Veeky Forums is the last place I want to go to to talk about food.

I don't. Get one fucking stain on my books, and they will never find your body.

Don't say I didn't warn ya.

Fair enough.

What the fuck is that even?

Sometimes I wonder why some people are so retarded when it comes to food.

I mean, surely cooking isn't that hard. I've always eyeballed the cooking, and I've never ended up with disgusting shit like this.

And then there are people like this, who are pretending to be retarded.

I like to buy expensive cuts of meat and microwave them until they're well done.

While wearing socks and sandals.

At least some of it is pretty cool visually.

Does anyone even care I'm posting these?

I'm sitting here in profound disgust, but I'll be honest - I'm gonna leave soon.

...

Eh, fair enough. Have a last one for the road.

Horrifying.

Fuck, this thread is making me hungry. It's like 2 in the morning. I can't leave my room to get food or else I'll wake everyone up.

Fuck you OP.

I bought a sandwich toaster so whenever I host games (regardless if I'm GMing) people bring in bread and whatever fillings they want and we spend a short bit at the beginning to make our stuff.

FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORN

how well do you let the characters themselves eat, and how much effort as a GM do you put in to food descriptions to try to make the players hateful and ravenous

Please continue.

>no activated minerals
GUESS AGAIN FAGGOT

>guy in the backyard is pleading with them to kill him
this makes me lose my shit everytime

By the time we game on Saturday and Sunday we actually have a meal together. Last week I had hot wings.

We just go for takeaway, and pause the game while we eat like civilised folk.
Usually, either chinese, indian, kebab, or fish and chips. Kebabs only in the warmer months because they come from a van and we'll freeze to death waiting for them to be cooked.
We'll occasionally go have a sit-down meal somewhere if we can find somewhere that isn't overpriced and is tolerable to the group as a whole, including someone with a weak immune system.

I don't eat at the table, at all. I eat before the game, usually with the rest of the group. If necessary, we make a break to eat. You don't eat at your workplace, do you?

what kind of a fucking fairy realm do you come from

Popcorn salted with the tears of my DM.

>not recreating the rations your character is going to eat and eating them each time you long rest
Your roleplaying and immersion needs work, buddy.

Since when does a book club reading Virginia Wolf not qualify as "gaming"

Beer, a pie and breadsticks

DESU this looks good just add and maybe some pita

>yfw everyone else is eating fucking jerky and crusty bread because they brought iron rations

>spitroast a deer

fucking lewd user

but what do you eat?

Creampies

>spitroast a deer

Do they have a fey background? Deertaur are incredibly lewd it seems

...

A lot of baked goods.
I just like to make breads, cakes, sweets, etc. Any time I try to make something new I usually test it on my group.

> This doesn't count as making anything.

Do... you not make your own guac? Do you not know the deliciousness that is fresh, home made guac?

>caramelized brussel sprouts
> What the fuck is that even?

So a brussel sprout is a sort of tiny cabbage looking thing the size of a golf ball or smaller.

There's a bunch of ways to cook them (I prefer shredded, and cooked with bacon and worchestershire sauce) but like a lot of things if you cook them slow you can caramelize them, which makes them taste sweet.

Pasta Salad:
Chicken 500g
Pasta 500g
Corn 400g
Pinapple 200g
Apples 2
Cucumber one-half
Pickles 6-8
Cheese 2dl
Onion 1
Sweet bell-pepper 2
Leek one-third
Cherry tomatoes 500g

Garlic dressing:
Sour cream 6dl
Mayonaise 4 tbl spoons
Garlic 4-6 boats
Salt/Pepper to taste 1 or 2 tea spoons
Lemon juice 4 tbl spoons
Parsley 2 tbl spoons

Serve with foccacia bread.

>I told you to get a bepsi
fucking god damnit i hate this cringe, too real.

I don't get it.

In order to denigrate a creative and talented chef and prove your superior taste through dismissiveness, you really exposed yourself. You don't know one can make guac, you don't know what "caramelized brussel sprouts" are, and you fucking quoted Ron Swanson on Veeky Forums. This was a really rough post to read. Please try to better yourself.

Tumblr pls leave and take your fat "I literally can't even form a proper sentence" ass with you. Get the fuck out.

>What the fuck are you a middle class housewife with two kids in elementary school? This just seems like really weird food to have when you are gaming, seems more like a get together of wine moms.
I didn't list any of the random Trader Joe's impulse buy junk food staples that are at the table.
There's only one husband and wife with a crotch spawn in preschool. The rest are twenty and thirty somethings that are college friends of the gm.
A regular/the gm's best friend is a diabetic, so I make sure to have at least one thing at the table he can eat without dying. All the games are hosted at my boyfriend (the forever gm's) place at my kitchen table. And because I am the newest member of the group, with the worst role playing/creativity skills wise. I put together food from the backyard (we've got a few avacado trees and some citrus that grow year round) and whatever random ingredients I have from costco trips so I can feel less anxious about being the newbie/only knowing the group through the bf/be a good host.
Depending on what's being played. There's usually a few cheap trader joes table wines and a case of cheaper pacificos that get emptied.

>caramelized brussel sprouts
>What the fuck is that even?
Something the diabetic taught me, and I decided to try because sprouts were in season and dirt cheap at Trader Joes. They're mostly olive oil some salt and pepper over halved cleaned sprouts. Broil in the oven until the first few layers of skin are crispy and the bottom is browned. What you get is a hearty bite sized savory vegetable with good texture variety.
Some people say they're good in salads, but I usually serve them as a side with something like baked chicken.

We're playing Edge of the Empire so the GM allows a house ruled crafting roll to be made for cooking something out of whatever is onboard the freighter. Usually with a survival skill roll that gets set back or boost die depending on the quality of ingredients available.
While the other members are busy piloting, repairing, healing, jury rigging weapons etc. before a job. One of the players cooks up something that can boost the crew's strain threshold or give bonus die to certain skill checks for the first encounter.
Because it is EotE the gm decides what the negative results are, and the players get to decide what the positive results are. So the player can talk about how the dish is very filling, they have abundant leftovers, or they've learned a lot about how to cook that particular dish making it easier on them to prepare next time. While the gm can decide if a dish got burned, smells pungent enough to give a set back die for stealth and social checks, lowers your strain threshold, used up more rations than originally expected in preparation, etc.

As a result the players usually try to get as food porny as possible with their descriptions to justify getting buffs out of a few advantage results.

>hating on spurdo pronunciation

What is that.

Do you know how fucking long spitroasting an animal takes?

>food porn
>posts disgusting, unhealthy pile of shit

> All those phones at the table
> Untouched food
This is why I don't like eating out with social media whores. If you can't spend a couple of hours without having to stare at your phone, you're not getting my company.

>Social media
>All those phones

>A flip phone
>A camera

is the gore anything like this?

>The children are dead at this point.
Gets me every time.

holy shit, this is straight out of one of those 70's era cookbooks for entertaining, where almost everything has gelatin in it for whatever reason.

I order pizzas and stock up on 2 liters and cans of Coke, Sprite, Shasta, and Dr. Pepper.

You spill food or drink on the minis or table and I'll show you just what legal insanity can let me get away with.

Depends on who's hosting.

With my online group, we usually take a 20-minute food break every session. Luckily, Saturday is also pizza night for me. Homemade, even.

I have a tale to share with you.
