What is it with the Orks and Ullanor which later became Armageddon?
Is there something important there for them?

c.M31 THE HORUS HERESY
>After the Warmaster Horus’ treachery is revealed, an early incarnation of the Officio Assassinorum sends four operatives, one from each of the major temples, to hunt down and destroy the traitor Primarch. All four are found wanting, for Horus is powerful beyond the reach of mortal men, and his destiny lies elsewhere.
>999.M41 THE FOE UNTOUCHABLE
>Within the Eye of Terror, a Black Crusade of unprecedented size musters to break open the Cadian Gate. Rumours abound that its supreme warlord is empowered by the Gods of Chaos, and that whilst he enjoys their favour, cannot be laid low by mortal weaponry. The agents of the Officio Assassinorum are dispatched en masse to slay the Warmaster Abaddon and his most favoured lieutenants before they breach realspace. One by one they reach a succession of grisly ends, and still Abaddon remains at large.
Here is the related text. Assassins suck.

Wait, was it confirmed that Armaggedon was Ullanor?
Funny, I remember an user here who predicted that when the Beast serie started, he must be gloating.

Yes, the Tech Priests teleported Ullanor to another system and its sudden materialisation in that system caused untold havoc on the worlds of the system hence why Imperials named it Armageddon.

Time for the Orphans of the Storm to give up their place as IG poster boys to someone else, and hopefully several regiments at once with multi parts kits.
Nathan Sanders
Gj user, maybe a teensy bit more silver weathering, but looksgood.
Would have drilled the smoke launcher though.
Jeremiah Evans
That image makes no sense to me. Why would you want to go anywhere near that even when it's dead and why is he having a break when there are still shitloads of them attacking?
I knew the Guard was sloppy but I assumed they could maintain even this basic discipline.
Austin Ramirez
With these fucking slackers, it's no wonder.

I mean I like the idea of playing The Fallen but I just can't shake the feeling that they are a little to overcosted.

It looks good otherwise. Maybe just pick a different colour.
>Would have drilled the smoke launcher though. thanks user. i was under the impression that smoke launchers were capped??
Christian Howard
The ones on Guard vehicles are, so you can just leave them.
Christian Bell
>Callidus can't disguise
They cannot disguise as psykers or races that can detect things. There is zero recent fluff about them disguising as craftworld Eldar successfully.
>Culexus is really good at shutting down non psykers!
Their animus device amplifies their soulless aura to the point that it causes mental trauma to non-psykers and their negative warp blasts destroy souls of their targets regardless what they are. Also their touch steals the souls and the life force of their victims. One touch and you are dead.
David Anderson
Soldiers take micronaps in combat all the time, it's a physical necessity for non-astartes user.
Dylan Jenkins
>thanks user. i was under the impression that smoke launchers were capped?? 40k smoke launchers are just grenade launchers with really limited ammo. The only guard I could see using more modern ones would be like, Elysians, because MODERN WARFARE is their hat.

Nobody at the Somme said 'hang on Sargent, we can't attack yet, I haven't finished my power nap'.

That's a heretic tome which means non-canon.
Benjamin Gutierrez
>They cannot disguise as psykers or races that can detect things. There is zero recent fluff about them disguising as craftworld Eldar successfully. Even the one example of a callidius assassin disguising as a craftworld eldar (Meh'lindi in Ian Watson's Inquisition Wars series), she was found out like ten minutes in.
The eldar language is super complicated and contextual and if you haven't actually been to the craftworld you're infiltrating, you'll miss out on the lingo and sound like a wetback speaking spanglish in the middle of like, 1800's upper class england.
Sebastian Howard
Telling me a Callidus can't spray some ethereal stink on herself? Disguising is literally their job. And they're supposed to be spastically good at it even when it defies logic.

The Imperium never discovered what causes the Tau to be hyper devoted to the Ethereals. The pheromones thing is just a theory among many that were never confirmed even when the Imperials did experiments on captured Ethereals.
So you are a moron for continuously bringing it up.
Chase Morales
It really depends how long they've been in combat for, if that guardsman has been in combat more than 12 hours he's going to get some rest in no matter what.
And yes, men in big battles did indeed take sleeps during the fighting, the human body is incapable of the kind of energy expenditure involved in fighting for indefinite periods of time.
Andrew Sanders
No user, it's bad artwork.

Depends on the regiment and the commander. I could see an Elysian or a particularly nice Cadian commander rotating out forces for rest, but no way is some slave driver wannabe Chenkov gonna let his men do anything but die on the blades of some termagants.
Caleb Mitchell
Unless I'm mistaken, the Beast was turning Ullanor/Armageddon into an 'Ork Attack Planet', but was interrupted by Vulkan and company before they could finish. Might have something to do with that.
Or more likely its because Orks regard Armageddon as a place they can always go to find a good fight (it's worth noting that the rest of the Imperial worlds in the Armageddon System are either Ork controlled or dealing with a massive Ork problem right now). I blame Yarrick for this.
Ryder Mitchell
Oh, also, for whoever asked - The new Gathering Storm book seems to confirm that the Sisters of Silence remained part of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica after the Horus Heresy, but lost a lot of their authority after the Inquisition came around (since they now handle the Black Ships and Witch Hunting)
Jayden Phillips

Really hope they rework Chapter Tactics for this or have some unit system. I hate being unable to use Black Templars in standard GW Kill Team.

I can't see any Cadian commander not doing it, it's a terrible military policy not to rotate troops.
Owen Wilson
Don't lie to me, user.
Pheromones. Pheromones. Pheromones. Acting as if it's a confirmed knowledge that's widespread in Imperial command is what's stupid. The Imperium have many theories about the Ethereals one of them is that they think they are psykers.
Jacob Reyes
>I can't see any Cadian commander not doing it, it's a terrible military policy not to rotate troops. Not all Cadian commanders are Creed. There are a few examples here or there of them being just as prone to NO REST FIX BAYONETS AND CHARGE THOSE ORKS bouts of glory-hounding as other regiments.

Posted this a couple of threads ago.
Got a tournament coming up intended for newbies (of which I am one), with more experienced players allowed (which does scare me to be completely honest) at 1250 points. This will be the first tournament I've gone to and was wondering how this list looked. Ya, I know I'm using nobz, but they come in the start collecting box and I'm not at the point where I own more models than I can fit in an army so I might as well use what I got. Since this is a relatively low point bracket would it be worth it to instead use the deff dread I have or nah?
So far people have told me it looks pretty good but I wanted to get some more thoughts on it.
Nicholas Powell
You don't rest this close to /Tyranids/ though, you don't rest unless there's 10 miles of plasteel and concrete between you and even then you rest with one eye open. There's Hive tyrants in the background and the bug he's sitting on is one, the rippers among the swarm would be wise to get that biomass back pronto. It's bad art in the same way that bl books with bugs are usually bad, the artist doesn't understand nids. It looks cool though
Isaiah Murphy
Not him but i shitpost irl with my friends because it makes them more bug like than bugs
Lucas Richardson
Not him but the assumption the disguise specialist wouldn't be able to tell one of the senses (in this case smell) was off is retarded.
Daniel Flores
This, Callidus are supposed to be hyper-advanced super-elite infiltrators and routinely have to deal with races that have senses beyond the Human spectrum, the fact that the Callidus didn't smell like an Ethereal is a serious oversight, as are plenty of things in that book.
Owen Phillips
Am I the only one sick of this Arch fucker and his annoying fans? I actually sincerely loved some of his videos and lore shit but otherwise he's a squeaky annoying fuck and trying to start a doomsayer bandwagon over Dawn of War 3, and always shitting on everything new while his bitchy fans follow him around like sheep.
Kevin Morris
Eh, his voice annoys me a little bit but I like his videos.
Andrew Rodriguez
How do you know it's the smell? Like I said we have no confirmation about the pheromones existing. The guys in the Imperium have less knowledge than that. You don't know what Shadowsun found off in the "ethereal".
Anyways, in the Oldcron codex, IIRC, the Deceiver recognised that the person in front of him was an assassin despite the Callidus disguising herself "perfectly". So their disguises are not 100% detection proof.

The Mont'ka fluff literally says the assassin didn't smell right.
Jacob Turner
I thought the black ships kept a few sisters of silence around to help deal with the apparent risk of transporting psykers who are more than likely going to die and know it.
Eli Turner
Yeah like, the Imperium has actively vivisected ethereals before, and the whole pheromones thing remains just a hypothesis. However they do it, its in a way that is hard to detect even under the scalpel of a magos biologis
Aiden Cox
He is incredibly shit when it comes to the lore. The headcanon, the assumption that come out of nowhere, the shitty attitude. You guys enabled this cancer.

>the deciever Well no duh, in Oldcron fluff the C'Tan were Über gods of destruction, iirc.
Gabriel King
They did, but not after the heresy. Nowadays you just have inquisitors and acolytes, some of whom either are or employ psychic blanks.
Its explicitly stated in the new Gathering Storm that while the SoS remain part of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica, they operate in secret now to avoid scrutiny and oversight.

How to fix Khorne Berzerkers:
>2 Attacks base >Feel No Pain >Berserk!: units with the Berserk! USR that are locked in combat always make their attacks regardless of casualties inflicted by models with a higher initiative or during overwatch. Any casualties are still removed at the end of the Fight Sub-Phase. Casualties caused by Instand Death are not affected by this rule. >Khornate Chainaxes are now S+1 AP4 >Same cost for everything
Jaxon Ross
>How do you know it's the smell?
Pheromones or not, it literally says that she figured something was wrong because the Ethereal didn't smell like an Ethereal.
>Anyways, in the Oldcron codex, IIRC, the Deceiver recognised that the person in front of him was an assassin despite the Callidus disguising herself "perfectly".
C'tan are metaphysical demigods that routinely fuck with space, time, matter and all others kinds of physics in ways that even the Necrons can't figure out with pure hyper-advanced machinery, even in their split state. They can basically do whatever the writers want them to do because they don't have conventional quantifiable capabilities.
Noah Martin
So what? The Changeling can make a disguise that can fool the Chaos Gods themselves. Just because you are godlike doesn't mean you have 20/20 perception

Levi Rogers
The Changeling is different because it's both a named character and basically the best individual at disguising itself in the entire setting, bar none, by leagues, it's not really comparable. Stealth vs. detection is an opposed effort, the better you are at the former the harder it is for the latter to spot you, and the Changeling BTFO's everyone and everything at disguise.

Jesus Christ, user. How can you like them?
Anthony Wright
I agree with Arch, but I think he could be a little less outspoken in his assertions. I think he doesn't realize a lot of people don't like DOW II. If you look at his non 40k videos its obvious he is more of a realism kinda guy so it shouldn't surprise you he hates where DOW III is going. I'd just ignore his DOW III videos and just stick to his lore. I really like his older more eloquent sounding commentary more than his more outspoken "so and so was a massive fuck twitit so he..." kind of commentary on lore these days though. If you like something a lot and it changes to the enjoyment of the majority but not your opinion it is understandably a reason to be bitter. That's why I don't hold it too much against Arch.
Elijah Turner
i-i think theyre c-cool

Don't worry user.
Christian Murphy
>How can you like the one true force for good in the universe
Jose Perez
I feel like 2 of those 4 changes would suffice. They really should be 2 attacks default though. As it stands you're pretty much always better off with either normal Chaos marines with Marks to save on points, or Khornate Chosen to get 5 attacks on the charge and access to better guns and weapons.
Leo Morris
I'm not a big fan but it's ok for us to have different tastes.
Jose Butler
I played about fifteen hours of the beta. He's a whiner and people shouldn't give him much attention for dow3

Just play the berserkers in an emperors children list so they get all those benefits with fearless on top :^)
Jaxson Scott
Hey guys, the only thing I don't own in this list is the ranged unit of Wraithguard and the Wraithknight which I'm probably going to pick up in the near future.
Is this a fair list for casual games at my local store? I'm not a great player anyway but I wanna know if this will be called out as cheesy.
Elijah Ross
>Abaddon losing
Impossible. We have prophecy that has the forces of Chaos reaching Terra. A Golden Warrior will bar their path to the Emperor's throne room. The Golden Warrior who bears the face of a primarch will die to buy the Emperor the time he needs. Narativewise, Abaddon will be the one who kills the Golden Warrior before going to the throne room.
>again
He won the last one too.
Austin Rogers
They are not cool! Go buy some Necrons, Barring that go play AoS.
Noah Fisher
Ditch the scatter lasers on the bikes and go for cannons instead of scythes on the guards, and it'd probably be okay actually.
Levi Morales
>Impossible. We have prophecy
Not saying I disagree with you, but we've had a lot of prophecies that turned out either to be misinterpreted or rendered completely untrue, it's kinda a thing in 40k that even fate itself shifts and buckles thanks to the Warp's meddling.
