Kindly no End Times or Age of Sigmar. If that is your cup of tea, please go elsewhere, especially if you're just going to shill or troll. For all intents and purposes, it's not the same universe.

Since dwarfs will probably be a hot topic for the near future I'm asking what's the deal with more high tech dwarfs of the old world where are they what technological point did they reach what are the relations with other dwarfs and their view of mythology/religion
possibly about the less chaos aligned ones; I'm mostly interested in zhufbar if I got it right.
Nicholas Harris
The castle looks rather high-medieval for Dwarves, but still very nice. And Karak Hirn always deserves a little love.
Those are AoS dude, not Old World. They're probably going to be engineers ensnared by warp magic or something, like the Broken Lords of Endless Legend.
Xavier King
>stone drawbridge
...sure, why not. Let's go with that.
Jackson Watson
It's only a small part of the bridge. So small that you could relatively easy traverse it. Goddamn Rick
Daniel Davis
Dwarves usually compensate with big bridges. I'm sure humans and elves must joke that it's easier to cross a dwarven bridge than to bridge the gap with grudging dwarves.
This range is fucking amazing! Those cannons are beautiful and the minis have such character.
Connor Walker
>Those are AoS dude, not Old World. I know, I'm mostly posting that pic as a sort of comparison or to offer parallels for the discussion, but I was asking about the old world itself.
IIrc there were dwarfen pirates exploring and getting lost in the southlands with a flying barge, while age of reckoning had those weird copter-packs, albeit I don't know what was their reception.
That's a mostly complete summary of Warhammer Dwarf info. Its missing some Holds and characters, but its as legit as it gets.
Henry Russell
The broken lords were such a cool idea, but they just didn't make sense as a civilization. Which was sort of the problem with a lot of the Endless Legend civs IMO, like they all defined themselves from straying from a norm that just didn't exist.
Asher Edwards
I mean the dwarves are all about technological anachronism, I mean they take helicopters to go hit people with axes.
Thing is, if there are more technologically advanced dwarves, we have to ask the question of how they are more advanced. Did they develop new technology and not share it with the high king? (And is this deliberate, or have they not had contact with Everpeak?) Did they start mass producing the prototypes a generation or five early?
Jack Murphy
I'd rather trust the Lexi or the Warhammer wiki over 1d4chan.
That's something that bothered me - as much as people complain about having the generic everyman faction, without it a game can feel confusing, with too many totally unique things slammed together without any sense of direction. Doesn't hurt that it also turns out I suck at Endless Legend.
Juan Butler
>what technological point did they reach Pseudo industrial revolution. They had Ironclads, submarines, gyrocopters, airships and revolvers.
Caleb Murphy
Some of those were available (at least in theory) before the industrial revolution. Most of them weren't as effective as later things (early submarines and revolvers especially), but it kind of makes sense that a race that was so technologically focused might be able to skip past steps real humans had to take to develop such things.
It is fascinating how all of their technological change seems to have little effect on their culture and society like the industrial revolution did.
Mason Martin
Dwarfs take pride in old stuff so I imagine most holds are thousands of years old and don't look that different.
Hunter Jackson
I think it's because, while steam is frequently used in battle they still have an artisanal system for crafting stuff. Everything is still hand made rather than spun on a jenny or fabricated.
I bet the Dwarf guilds are so strong they will allow no automation.
Bentley Cook
This probably also explains why they haven't crushed the other races. If they started building Gyro-copters using automation they would have a massive fleet.
Carson James
Just had an idea lads.
With different heads could these guys look like Dwarf marines? Like a boarding party from an ironclad?
Jeremiah Wilson
So I'm finally running a game of WFRP again after nearly a six month hiatus and I've got a few new players that are already enjoying it. I've got them running around a town in Nordland trying to find a merchant they were supposed to escort, but have gotten themselves mixed up with a cowardly priest of Ulric, a man posing as a priest of Sigmar and what appears to be a serial killer on the loose with knowledge of surgery and the tools to do it with. The last two are connected with a cult of Nurgle that goes up to a Nordland baron and his family.
But for later I want to introduce an antagonist that can show up later on, a daemon that doesn't necessarily want to kill them but just likes fucking with them. Taking the image of a man in a cloak with theatre mask, but is creepily thin, and changes his expression by passing his hand over the mask. My question is what sort of sound effect would you use for a creature like this? I was thinking of just ripping some Aku laughs and put it on my tablet but I think that might be a little too obvious.
Levi Lewis
Well, they do look vaguely like boiler suits. You could even fluff them out as mining gear too.
John Garcia
With the right paint scheme, sure.
Althought I'd probably swap out their weapons too for more traditional fare.
Sidenote: I've been clicking on "Houses" for captcha for like two minutes now.
John Barnes
Yeah I would paint anything that didn't have rivets on a leather colour for a start (I guess I could file the rivets off a lot of the knee pads).
Drop the heads, backpacks and any weapon which isn't an axe or a falchion. I would probably keep the billhook on the champion.
Then see what I can proxy them as. Maybe miners but they can only emerge from water or something.
Juan Thompson
Capcha is retarded sometimes. Sometimes those pictures disappear so slowly and even if you've selected 10 stores it STILL says you got it wrong.
Easton Powell
They kind of remind me of some clothing from a Fallout 3 DLC - not the best inspiration, sure, but I think it'd be good for getting a sense of thick clothing with metal overlaying it. And might be a good start on colors.
John Jones

By Sigmar what has the world come to?
Isaiah Foster
CA is your stepdad. Not the best, but better than your biological deadbeat father.
Green Knight voice still sucks, though.
Jordan Cruz
"Aye, I could attach gimballed cannons to the external of this wall, but that would ruin the finish me great great great great grandfather laid down, and if I did that he'd whip me round the ears come dinner time."

Thomas Gutierrez
Holy Sigmar, bless this ravaged franchise!
Jordan Peterson
>When you shatter that pansy faggot elves flimsy sword.
Colton Reyes
>>tfw you killl artur for being a team killing faggot
Logan Walker
god these are shit
Xavier Morgan
>CA is your stepdad. Not the best, but better than your biological deadbeat father.
A good analogy. Sure is a shame papa GW treated the setting so poorly and then gave it a terrible sendoff. I've been really into Fantasy lately and off of 40K. Sometimes I can forget that Fantasy as we knew it is long gone. It's sort of depressing.
At least we have 30 years of editions, books, models and other fun stuff to play with anyway. It's the same way I look at Star Wars after Disney consumed it. At least we have the past.
Carson Mitchell
wait, I don't know much about sigmar era warhammer, did he meet gilles?
Hunter Jenkins
They are pretty much exactly that What heads were you thinking about?
Jack Murphy
Sigmar predates Gilles by almost a thousand years.
But Gilles is arguably more badass. Fucker was dying and said "You know what? FUCK dying." and pulled a fucking giant spear out of his chest and killed three wyverns with it. In his fucking pajamas.
Basically. We have so much setting to draw on. My own 'canon' version in WFRP has advanced 20 years into the future.
I've said it once, and it wasn't funny the first time, and I'll say it again. CA is the step dad desperately trying to win your love, though he sometimes makes you buy breakfast. GW is the deadbeat dad that blames you for all his failings.
Eli Brooks
>Sigmar predates Gilles by almost a thousand years. Then what Arthur did sigmar fuck up?
Dominic Roberts
Artur was a paranoid fucker that was almost smack dab in the middle of Sigmar's proposed Empire, also in command in the most defensible position in the land that wasn't dawi controlled. Artur refused to give command of his tribe to Sigmar, so Sigmar was forced to slay him. Also, he stumbled through the Flame of Ulric which solidified his rule.
Artur could have joined Sigmars confederation but was slain and replaced.
Isaiah Ortiz
Hey so I've bee. Hunting for artwork/conversions of female wild riders, I haven't seen anything in the lore saying the wild riders aren't boys club. But can find nothing on girl ones. Asking as I want to have my wild riders a mixed gender unit
Sebastian Bell
I'm not sure if the wild riders have a masculinity/fertility theme going on with orion, but just fuck it and do eet blood covered forest boobs are both hot and cool like spring
Angel Wood
>It is fascinating how all of their technological change seems to have little effect on their culture and society like the industrial revolution did.
I'd attribute that mainly to the situation of their society vs ours. Britain certainly fought plenty of wars during the Industrial Revolution, but these were for the most part far-flung affairs, against enemies that couldn't directly invade Britain. Closest really was Napoleon and he couldn't cross the Channel. So things at home could continue more or less uninterrupted by events elsewhere, and there isn't an air of desperation about things.
Dwarves face a totally different situation, more akin to Germany in 1944. They're being invaded from all sides by tenacious enemies, and holding on for grim death to what they have. Just like Germany, they're producing fantastically high tech, but it's all being devoted towards the war effort. Social change can't really happen when you're fighting for your existence constantly. One of the main drivers of change in the Industrial Revolution for example was transport. Imagine if the Dwarfs didn't have to face constant attacks from Skaven, Goblins and Orcs all through the Underway. Steam trains linking the various holds WOULD lead to gigantic social changes. But you don't have the luxury of devoting that much time and resources to projects like that when every steam engine you make is needed on the front lines.
Adam Adams
>check /AoS/ threads
Okay guys why do you insist on shitting up that thread. Your usage of terminology like "numale" and "cuck" really shows the color on this lingering fanbase. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Ryan White
>not knowing about the Total Warhammer fanbase That's why you see colorful insults such as cuck, numale and hillary supporter.
Connor Collins
it's eight-chan user
Blake Turner
what bodies do you think would match the wild riders best user?, sisters of the thorn is the easy go to, but are there better savager looking wood elf ones?
Christian Ross
body wise I should specify
Logan Bennett
>But Gilles is arguably more badass Oh look, we have a Questing Knight in the thread
Lucas Williams
Based on the novels, Sigmar took on a dragon ogre and barely won. He also barely took on a Bloodthirster after it was wounded. I'm only using the facts.
Leo Carter
He stared down and beat Nagash.
What did Giles ever do?
Jacob Torres
Barely. Nagash could have easily killed him, even in his weakened state. The crown was his weakness and it was only through that was Sigmar able to destroy him.
A shame we never got a Bretonnian novel from someone who didn't hate Bretonnia.
Angel Rogers
>Bretonnians think Dragon Ogre and Bloodthirster are weaker than Wyvern (Probably never saw one) >Being wounded by a spear and killing thre big lizards somehow tops ascending to godhood That's what you get for being inbred isolationist country, mate
Justin Robinson
I never said that. Only that Gilles hopped out of bed and slew three wyverns with a spear he pulled out of his own chest, or so the legends go. It's why I say it's a shame we never got a Gilles le Breton 'Time of Legends' book.
Jeremiah Johnson
>mfw bretcucks in this thread.

Has anyone ever actually tried the McDeath campaign, or a more recent emulation of it?
Always a bit of a fuss about it in the Oldhammer community.
Adrian Long
>not recognising the slavposter
But of course, keep blaming the scapegoat, it will surely not build a fanbase that lashes aggressively at every POV that isn't the supported one and encourage people to contribute.
Parker Cook
The best thing would be kitbashing witch elves I'd say
Michael Nguyen
Not sure, I plan on getting 30 Hammerers, I think they come with spare heads don't they? I would prefer ones without helmets and then I can green stuff some eye patches and bandanas on them.
Isaac Ward
Nah I've never played it. It seems like a big deal though, people always go on about it and the models that were never released for some of the characters.
Joshua Nelson
Soon.
Aiden Cox
They troll you because you rise to the bait so easily. They try it here now and again and they get ignored.
Alexander Collins
I doubt it, it looks to be 4 times the width of a man judging by the models on it. Some people could probably jump that but if you fail you're dead and you have hundreds of angry midgets shooting bolts at you.
Owen Carter
the ones without helmets are few from gw range the ones where you can get the most bald heads are probably the basic fyreslayers (since the helmet is made of separate pieces as far as I know), but without conversions the symmetric beards may look bad and you would get a lot of possibly useless bodies if you don't look for the heads separately.
avatars of war had a kit for rangers with some heads having bandanas and patches, I don't remember how many and I'm not even sure the head is separated from the body there, but the more options the better, I guess.
Benjamin Long
not sure why I like these so much. they look the right kind of "modern" dwarfy without reverting to Blizzard-style overcompensation
Joshua Adams
I suggest dryad figures (customising) or just some greenstuff for added form. add some DE bitz and you're good to go really.
Lincoln Cooper
I'm getting some of the Avatars of War Dwarfs but unfortunately all the heads as sculpted onto the torso.
Gavin Barnes
Prisoner obviously. How else am I to start the violent gang rape group? First i'd offer my own hole as a release for the lads then after a few weeks warm them up to the idea of taking turns. Eventually the guards are going to get jealous of our hole stretching sessions and willingly submit to our group. One by one they will be corrupted and have their holes violated until everyone has joined.
There will be no division, no hate, no pain. Only the holes and filling them will matter.
And they shall be led by me, The Great Gape user the First. I shall lead their minds into the light of pleasure and their shafts into holes of dark.
Ryan Bennett
Shit wrong thread, ignore this.
Lincoln Hill
There is nothing forbidding female, in theory, but thematically they are the retinue of Orion's, just like the sisters are the retinue of the Queen
Jace Myers
Nope, now we need context.
Nicholas Evans
I don't know what lads you're talking about but good luck
Ryder Rivera
...
Luke Bell
Now we won't you Slaaneshi cultist
Brayden Anderson
Are gryphons and demigryphs pegasai and dragons all "natural" animals and not Chaos monsters?
Parker Sanders
The Lexi and Wiki are badly incomplete and reference End Times.
That 1d4 article is actually legit.
James Taylor
The Warhammer wikia is probably the best one.
They have about 4000 articles now, all of them with sources.
Lexicanum is a mess on the Fantasy side, nobody cared enough, the German version was quite good though.
1d4chan is comedy, nothing more.
Mason Diaz
practically everything is a mutant from the great catastrophe
except dragons who happened to be there before and may or may not be related to a lot of other reptilian beasts and speciations.
Nathan Stewart
1d4chan is a wannabe tvtropes
Asher Robinson
Having 40k is a detractor, not a positive.
Ryan Baker
This is a joke right...
4000 articles, not fucking 40,000 keks.
Jace Morris
>McDeath And these people attempt to make fun of AoS...
Carson Myers
Would red Daemonettes work? Or would it be too Khorny?
Daniel Parker
yes they would
but I recommend some cream or ivory somewhere
Gabriel Sanders
Hmm
Camden Robinson
The things is, these were tongue in cheek. AoS has 'death rattlers' but actually takes them seriously.
Luke Williams
Just like 40k. Take out the Judge Dredd and you have trash.
Jason Rivera
Smash em right in the face
Angel Moore
Is there a high res version of this?
Luke Clark
Also mechanical arms and power armour.
Jeremiah Davis
Internal combustion until GW retconned it.
William Ross
What Kickstarters are you lot currently backing?
I'm having a hard time deciding between Dwarven Gold Fever, Atlantis Dwarves, and Court Of The Sultana.
Jaxon Ward
Maybe ZWEIHÄNDER Grim & Perilous RPG
that PDF they released is a bloated mess though
Dylan Young
I still feel like, while they're having fun with the game and trying to make it look pretty, there's not as much polish as in older games in some areas.
For instance, there's no animation for crews rolling/pushing siege weaponry or cannons around. You'd think Warhammer would be the perfect time to revive the officers you'd see in units in Empire Total War. And the campaign portion wavers between good and iffy, especially since you can't move units around without a lord and there are stock garrisons that make sieging large cities a hassle.
Noah Richardson
I can't trust that 1d4chan article when I can't trust most 1d4chan articles.
Both the Lexi and the Wiki are badly incomplete, yes, but they're still better off overall than all of the 1d4chan articles.
Michael Lewis
Lex also was full of articles that were bullshit, citing things that had nothing to do with its claims.
Unless you just skip straight to the source you're taking someone's word.
1d4 Dwarfs gets credit for covering both old and new continuity.
