I just really like models looking tactical and having a feeling of military, so the cheese cake models in Infinity don't exactly do it for me. I think the pilot models are generally fine since they have some reason to be that way (though it escapes me why a garter belt is necessary for the O-Yoroi), but the Tech Bee looks like she really belongs in a pin up calendar and not a battlefield. I think it wouldn't bother me much at all if she didn't also come with a brand new and super optimal unit profile, so she'll be everywhere flash pulsing people and grabbing objectives, rather than being an HVT.

Like I'm cool with other people liking it, but my personal opinion is I wouldn't buy her. If I played PanO, I would probably get a Dire Foes HVT to proxy her or something. The little crab guy is cool though.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure the tech bee isn't actually one of the normal operators that operate operationally unlike just about every other unit in the game, as such she is more of a consultant or something, hence the irregular order. She is the the civvie tech your grizzled war dudes have to babysit. She at least makes more sense to bring along on some clandestine op rather than the news channel 10 reporter.

But I get what you mean. Id just paint her as having full compression pants rather than thigh highs, wouldn't look too dissimilar from a fusilier. When your technology level has nano machines, I am pretty sure you can pack all kinds of bullshit into clothes.

Yeah, I think that's what they're going for. It just bugs me her profile is so good, so instead of being a cowering HVT, she's going to be in tons of PanO lists to throw out AROs and dash for objectives. Every Joan list is going to have her guaranteed. It's just a little silly, and I already think the Warcor is a weirdly non-thematic unit.

I will probably get over it. It's not even a terribly major annoyance for me, and I'm happy other people like the model. I just would give the model a like 2 out of 5 personally. I'm not like the crazies that think the model shouldn't exist.

I think it'd half work if she was included in the Warcor AVA. As a +1 WP and low quality specialist for, realistically, at most 2 units, it's not outrageous, but doubling them and adding Switch disguised as Joan is going to be absolute filth. Frankly, Joan is already mad undercosted and I never know why people bitch about posthumans but not a 3 wound BS 15, nanopulser + CC skills heavy for a touch over 50 points, and an SWC discount for using her awesome leadership rules.

Well, her "awesome leadership rules" up until now applied basically to Warcor and nothing else. Now suddenly PanO has had an influx of Irregular units, making her more attractive to vanilla.
Still, that Frenzy makes her a bit more fragile than other HI and in MO you need to take go all the way into Hospitallers or Santiagos to mitigate it and if you're not pushing her forward, you're wasting her high BS and second part of Leadership rule. She's great, but she's got some stiff competition and a few drawbacks.

Also Posthumans are Light or Medium Infantry cost for a BS13 Spitfire or HMG HI at the "tax" of needing to buy for example a WIP15 Doc/Engi for 10 pts. Hard not to bitch about that.

What about the coordinated order thing? That's super scary in vanilla, letting her shift things like Auxilia up the board on the cheap. And frenzy is definitely a difficulty, but shock immune NWI and the range of positive extras (stealth, nanopusler, 6-2) she has for her cost is insane. For MO players, I don't think buying top end HI to back her up is really a disadvantage.

That's a link that takes 200pts all by itself. Yeah, it's hard to dislodge, but there's a reason why Magisters are more popular.
IMO De Fernsen trumps Joan, but it's expected considering he's more expensive. Though you could link both in the same Hospitaller link.

I don't want a self insert, I just want a full blown spider tank. The Maghariba Guard is close, but I'd love to see a PanO/Yu Jing take on it. I know why it and other full blown conventional warfare vehicles will never happen, but I still want it.

From what I've heard, painting a layer of pink, then layering yellow on top helps a ton. No idea if it's true, but I've heard it a couple of times from a couple different places, so it could be worth a shot.

Kuang Shi. Pump a lot of orders into high quality units with fireteam backup, and smoke and infiltrators to boot. It's easy to make an ISS list with 16+ orders and 3-6 multi-wound units. Most factions have to sacrifice one or more of those things in listbuilding.

I can see that, but ISS is still pretty limited even with 9 orders for 63 points and .5 SWC. While their infiltrators are better than they once were, they're still not great. They still only get one Ninja, and it is bound to be the 29 point Killer Hacker, but her weapon loadout makes her pretty crap against anything she can't isolate and get within 4 inches of. The Kanren is great and I love the guy, but he's still got a lot going against him compared to regular camo infiltrators. He is very easy to kill even with decoys since he doesn't have a real camo state to be discovered out of, and he doesn't get minus to hit mods beyond surprise shotting people. Also the whole sectorial doesn't really get troops who give minuses to hit, so you have less control on face to face rolls. You're basically stuck with smoke MSV to force enemy chances down.

I play them and don't think they're super powerful, definitely not enough to measure up against the likes of Tohaa or Ariadna. Part of it is that I don't like buying repeat unit boxes, so I don't abuse the ridiculous 8 Kuang Shi or 3 Husong availability. However, even counting those, I think a lot of sectorials are better than them. They feel pretty middle of the road these days, which is a great improvement over the gutter trash of HSN2 days.

Which shouldn't be hard.

Posthumus probably. They're a bit limited though since you can only take 3, so while they're busted as fuck for internal balance they only offer a little advantage externally.

Posthumans are 200% cheese. 300% cheese in limited insertion.

I did an approximate point calculation for each as a normal unit then subtracted 8 for the posthuman discount. Which just makes me wonder what the actual fuck CB's posthuman discount was.
I also made the Mk5 FO pay for its E/M grenades, which it wasn't doing before, and took the SWC off the mk12 profile. The massive imbalance between those loadouts is hopefully lessened.

Usual formula I've seen is VMC.

Orange brown base

Scrofulous Brown highlight, building up to white in some areas (although some people like to do a white highlight over the orange brown and have really thin layers of scrofulous brown to blend it together)

Cavalry brown shading (+maybe a mix of cavalry brown and black to shade really deep recesses)

I do like to confirm that painting a bit of pink before the orange brown really does help.

I like to use P3 Coal black for the base coat of the usual cloths.
