First for blitzing your chakras.

What's the best build, in general, for a swashbuckler, including high levels not typically reached? 11 fighter/3 rogue? just for fun

What's wrong with a straight swashbuckler?

Gay swashbucklers have more fun.

That's... Not... Damn you.

I lul'd.

Gonna need some more details there buddy

Such as?

The answer is still mystic. Use nomadic step and cloak of wind to emulate swashbuckling.

Not him but...

- Allow content (Volo Race,UA,Homebrew) is a big one.
- Timezone is another big one
- Age limit... maybe?

Mystic is the best answer for alot of classes, that's part of why it's such a shit class itself. It's every niche in the game but with psychic powers.

Mountain Standard Time, pretty open but there's a guy in Spain who always causes troubles.

>Age limit

Such as?

Volo and Sword Coast is fine. UA depends on how much of a faggot you're trying to be.

Couple races I did on request, linking for the requestors who are probably asleep, and whoever else might care.

Contact info, day/time, tone of campaign, voice/text/mix, etc

>spain guy
Hey another spain user; can i join?

roll stats like a anti-fun faggot or standard array / point-buy like a reasonable and pro-fun human.

3d6 in order is the real mans method.

Yes

One sec and I'll make a roll20 page, tone is going to be the same tone of every D&D campaign (attempted seriousness that turns into black comedy), DMing and detailed character actions is mainly text, will probably use voice as a side thing so players can discuss strategy if desired and ask for clarification etc.

After or before race?

Standard point buy, to be sure.

In OD&D that's fine, you can have a totally viable char with straight 3s there.

After race, but i typically let them pick class afterwards, so if you have a specific desire to play a class, you pick the race that gives you the best odds.

Good! I am at work atm so ill check on 7-8h probably

Declare race and class, 3d6 in order.

Hahaha what a pussy.
Did your mommy feed you cockmilk you queer?
Class race 3d6 in order no rerolls only.

But anons, you can't even BE certain classes without the stats for it.

What's your favorite anime

Do you have a girlfiend

Anti or pro skub

No items. Final destination.

Then you leave the game in shame.

What happens if you roll a total of 3 six times?

I'd have to check, but i'm fairly certain Thief had no stat requirements.

You pick moon druid.

For those interested. I'm flexible on times, but figuring out how to incorporate people in Spain and people in Murika ought to be a challenge.

What's the best way to stat a war mage/ red wizard?
I'm thinking pumping int/ con, Vhuman with Fighter 1/ evocation wizard x for heavy armour, defence fighting style with shield and war caster feat.
Or Fighter 5 for extra attack and and battlemaster manoeuvres, but loose out on the 9th level spell.

What spells should I take? I'm thinking a mix of damage dealing, defence and mobility.

Yeah, I'm married, don't worry I've never been accused of showing favoritism.

>11 players

How many will drop after first session?!
How many wont show up?

The player list is almost everyone who has played in any of my non AD&D campaigns over the last 4 years, not everyone who is playing in this.

>not wanting to do a 11man+ game
C'mon!

Do you have a cute dog?

If you had to pick a fictional character to be your waifu, who would you pick?

What's your favorite The Twilight Zone episode?

Red mage is just valor bard. Complete with stupid hat.

Bladesinger work too.

I'm not averse to an 11man sandboxy hexploration game but I am averse to an adventure path 11man game.

I guess my favorite anime is Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne, as a storyline that takes place across a vast span of time in a changing world is probably the most relevant to my interests, and Rin would probably be my first pick for a waifu, I guess.

I have a cute black cat and my neighbor has a calico-looking husky mix that gets out a lot that is pretty cool.

My favorite Twilight Zone is probably The Obsolete Man.

Sure, but doesn't fit with my RP concept, nor does it give me heavy armour. DM is pretty roleplay heavy, and I was hoping to be at or near the frontline, and primarily casting damage spells. Given that wizard gets a lot, and primarily relies on spells rather than weapons

Man, maybe i'm just retarded, but i used the link you posted and i didn't see a damned bit of relevant information.

I literally haven't used roll20 beyond setting up an account though, the game i was going to play in fell through

Is the requirements of becoming a lich is to be a magic user? Or I just need a phylactery?

>Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne

That's an interesting choice, I too found that anime to have a surprisingly interesting world despite being near-porn

The requirements are an undefined, extremely evil process. Ask your DM.

Anybody follow Dice, Camera, Action?

What does immunity to nonmagical attacks mean to you?
Immunity to bullets, artillery, being dropped from a great height, having an anvil dropped on you, getting rammed by a great beast?

>and i didn't see a damned bit of relevant information.

I haven't put anything up yet. After I'm done here I'll probably make a list of stuff we've agreed on from this thread.

So far:
1. Point buy
2. Pretty standard Faerun
3. HotDQ inspired
4. All published splats allowed, UA grudgingly allowed with sanity checks as appropriate (I don't like garbage along the lines of loremasters and nuclear druids)
5. Probably using Vitality, may use other variant rules from the books.
6. The PCs will likely get a feat training reward quickly, ie. before level 4.
7. No other early "balance fixes" are intended, though Simulacrum factories etc. are not my cup of tea.

Well, im headin to bed now, ill check back when i awake i suppose.

Currently looking like 2PM on Sunday.

default is 20wiz, spend a few weeks making potion and phylactery, get DM approval and someone to teach you, become an evil NPC

Is this going to have a discord or the like, or just showing up at game time on roll20?

A Skype channel will be provided, and will be optional (more light conversation/intraparty strategizing than me narrating & voicing NPCs).

They should just make a skeleton race.

Be a skeleton magic user? Lich.

Skeleton warrior? Death knight.

When will this meme die?

There was some generator before that threw around mention of LIVING SKELETONS. Inspired me to think of bone people that were just randos cursed by a necromantic fey.

You cannot kill that which is already dead.

I'm going to be running a game soon for two players. One soliution I have to filling out the party was to create a bunch of NPC followers that mechanically function like PCs, each with their own backstory and side quests that could be completed or not depending on what the players decide to do.

I have a couple of questions, however...

First, I was thinking of having them only level up when their specific goals or story archs are completed as opposed to just taking a portion of XP from the PCs - both to incentivize the players to aid the followers they like so they can become stronger, and to prevent the book keeping and rebalancing necessary if these lower level followers suddenly level up mid adventure. Is this a good idea? I'm worried it will ruin game balance, as the DMG recommends that said followers do take their share of XP since they were helping the party in combat.

Secondly, I'm going to have the players controlling these NPCs in combat, only over ruling their decisions if they act out of character. During normal play, I don't want the NPCs doing too much other than maybe commenting a little and helping with skill checks - but I don't want them to just be video game party members that have zero presence until a fight starts. I want to strike a balance between ensuring the players feel like the protagonists of the story and not a side show to these followers - but also not making the followers just feel like video game pieces. How do I do this right?

So I'm starting my first campaign on roll20 and the DM is a 14 year old but he has over 200 hours of gameplay, not sure what to expect, what's the youngest player you guys have played with?

...

Our DM allows us to multiclass to optimize our characters.

I made a dragon sorc and want to dip into barb so that my AC equals 13 + Con + Dex (unarmored defense). However, the DM says that i can't have both (only the bonus from sorc applies). Is he right Veeky Forums?

Yes he's right. You can choose to use the 10+DEX+CON or 13+DEX.

Your DM is absolutely correct. In general, abilities do what they say.

B-b-but why?

Now dip into Monk too and argue that
10+Dex+Con+Wis so the DM bans you from the table

Your DM is right. You can't stack them. Check Sage Advice.

Because neither of those are bonuses, they're a new method of calculation. You can use one, or the other, but you can't combine them.

By RAW/RAI, because the 10+CON and the 13 acts as your base AC, and you can only use one of those at a time.

By fluff, because you have to be extremely hardy for your skin to get even tougher than your already tough dragon scales.

Because in general 5e strives to avoid "dip one level for unintended combos".

>>First, I was thinking of having them only level up when their specific goals or story archs
That's fine, just tune encounters for the larger party size and just have the followers "leech" the additional EXP. i personally use milestone levels and do away with XP in my campaign for all PCs.

>>Secondly, I'm going to have the players controlling these NPCs in combat,
just have them be more engaging during non-combat scenes. for example, instead of narrating stuff yourself, you could act as the character and give a description from their words. making sure they have a presence just means that you are actively engaging them in the story. doesn't hurt to have acting skills to make sure your varied characters don't feel too stale or same-y

The iterative penalty thing is in line with 3e but not 5e. If anything, lose advantage or gain disadvantage on the first penalty, and subsequent attacks being with disadvantage until one misses, would maybe apply, though still be clunky as hell.

>B-b-but why?

You can save the trouble of asking by remembering this simple rule: abilities do what they say.

>While you are not wearing any armor, your Armor Class equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Constitution modifier. Vou can use a shield and still gain this benefit.

Nowhere does it say "when unarmored, add your Constitution modifier to your existing AC" which is probably what you wished it said.

What is the highest AC you can get at level 2? Assume point buy, and no UA stuff.

probably something along the lines of 21 or thereabouts

plate + shield + defense fs = 21

Using only starting equipment, 20.

Variant Human Medium Armor Master, Scale Armor, 16 Dexterity, a shield, and the Defense fighting style.

Chainmail + Shield + Defense Fighting Style = 19.
It's impossible to get plate at level 2 unless your DM gives you a set, or gives you a shitload of gold to buy plate with, and if we assume that we could also assume you get magical AC boosting items.

Add being human on top of that for extra spellcasting feat for Shield of Faith for another +2.

>scale armor
>starting equipment
>class that gets Fighting styles

wat?

Ranger.

I'm this user. Anyone got a copy of their Yawning Portal already?

where did you order your copy from?

You know you can roll for gold and buy gear, right?

From a local store in Denmark.

Daily reminder that Acerak was a Wizard/Cleric

>rolling starting gold
Worse than rolling stats, fampai.

Variant Human (Medium Armor Master), 1st Level Cleric (for Scale Armor in starting equipment), 2nd level Fighter (For Defense Fighting Style), have shield 16 dex, cast shield of faith, 22 AC.

How does Hidden Shrine and Tomb of Horrors look? They're gonna make or break the book for me.

That's nice.

>What is the highest AC you can get at 2nd level
>posts a 3rd level build
Do you need glasses, user?

Why have you not sliced that fucker's spine open and given the internet high-res page scans?

Post Magic Items?

Just wanted to say Luis Royo is a criminally underrated artist. I use his pictures for my sci fi games all the time

>1 level of cleric + 1 level of fighter = 3 levels

Hes saying that the characters second level is in fighter. Fighters get fighting styles first level.

Haven't played/seen the prior versions of those dungeons before, so I can't speak about any differences. The dungeons seem quite a bit more detailed than their usual published 5e content, but I've really only had a cursory glance.
The shrine is designed for 5th level players and the tomb for "high level" (second highest dungeon is level 11)

ooo can you give me a quick rundown on the Deathlock Wight, Greater Zombie, and Ooze Master? Such as CR and any fluff details that stand out

Mind me asking what the Ooze Master and Thorn Slinger are like?

Has anyone every played around with non-physical command words? Specifically I was wondering what would happen if you did Command: Forget! Ideally I'd like for them to forget what happened in the past x seconds, but all the examples for command that I can find are targets attempting to do something physical.
