tips for first time dm?

Ignore all other tips from /pfg/ than this

Communicate with your players

solid tip.
ignored!

Fuck your players over every chance you can. Assert your dominance

talking with your players solves 95% of the problems, the remaining 5% of people are shit and aren't worth your time

oh

Talk with your players. On a regular basis. After every session, try to get some thoughts on where things are going, and don't be afraid to pause up and talk something out if things are getting out of hand.

Big singular boss fights are thematically appealing but a trap. A smaller boss monster with some minions will always be a more dynamic and interesting challenge for your players than one big monster to beat down.

The solution your players find to problems you pose will almost never be the one you intended. Work with this when possible but know when to put your foot down.

sounds like some kinky shit.

I like how Mephistophelian is slowly entering common usage.

pld more like please leave, dm!

wouldn't it be faustian

Now if only people knew how it was spelled

And using an esoteric word, no matter how accurate, is probably the source of Vults headache

Don't take the bait anons. Mister Rogers knows you're better than that.

Optimization question:

My fellow lewd players seem to be into furry transformation shit.

Should I give my character a nonhuman penis? If so, what kind?

Or if human penis, cut or uncut?

Knots my dude

Vult's real headache is that he's a shitbag.

I have with me yet another 6th-level Spheres of Might build. I would appreciate it if someone was to check it for errors.

Unlike my charger build here and my unarmed build here , this is not a Small-sized tiefling on a vulture, nor is it an "all day" build. Instead, it is a "nova" build, one intended to completely blow apart major enemies every few days. It is still perfectly serviceable even without "going nova," however, thanks to a hybridization funnel.

How powerful is this "nova"? 6d6+10 (average 31) × 9 acid damage in a 15-foot radius, then half that much damage 5 feet past that radius, and then 6 × 9 acid damage another 5 feet away.

Against enemies without acid resistance, this produces 279 acid damage in the central 15-foot radius, enough to kill average CR 17s: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1E2-s8weiulPoBQjdI05LBzOUToyoZIdSsLKxHAvf8F8/edit#gid=3

Against enemies with acid resistance 10, this deals 189 damage in the central 15-foot radius, enough to slay average CR 13s.

Also:
>Targets who take at least 2 points of acid damage from the initial attack take half the total damage again on the following round.

Therefore, this can actually take out a 15-foot radius of CR 22s without acid resistance, or a 15-foot radius of CR 17s with acid resistance 10, if the character is willing to endure a one-round delay.

This costs three focusing flasks each time, however. Even with a variety of crafting discounts, this can be inconvenient. Fortunately, the build can settle for hybridization funnels otherwise.

Mephistophelian is describing something as appearing beneficial, but filled with tricks and traps to fuck you over.

Damage for Improved Acid Flasks:
4d6 base with Craft (alchemy) ranks
+2d6 Alchemy dedication
+6 Intelligence modifier from alchemist
+4 sharpen weapons
Total: 6d6+10 (average 31)

Each Improved Acid Flask costs 0 gp to make, and, with the Equipment sphere dedication, only 7.5 minutes to create (3.75 minutes with an alchemist's lab). The character loads up a total of nine Improved Acid Flasks in three focusing flasks.

During a long rest, the character uses the sharpen weapons maintenance, giving the entire party a +4 untyped bonus to all damage rolls made with manufactured weapons. Yes, even if someone in the party picks up a weapon from elsewhere; the blacksmith is just that good.

The character enters dangerous areas with one focusing flask in their off-hand. When combat starts, the character uses Cluster Toss to draw and throw two focusing flasks, then Barrage to throw the third flask with their off-hand (this does not actually use the two-weapon fighting rules). The character targets a single grid intersection, which is only AC 5, and will thus miss only on a natural 2+, even if they are throwing out to 80 feet.

The result is a deadly blossom of unavoidable acid damage, no saving throw required.

Focusing flasks, hybridization funnels, the Barrage sphere, and, just to be safe, the Sniping sphere, should all be rendered incompatible with Alchemy.

>Should I give my character a nonhuman penis? If so, what kind?

That honestly depends on the race, background and mannerisms of your character.

This is the part where you answer.

So you think it's better if I just ask when doing fade to black stuff postsession?

My issue comes in that when characters share or talk about his dick that it will be inconsistent if I change it up.

...

So! Who all's excited for the weekend? Any big plans, game-related or otherwise?

That's fucking hilarious.

NOOOO I'M TOO BASHFUL

And that's probably enough to tip people off.

But seriously, normal human character

>But seriously, normal human character

Then... Why would you have a non-human penis?

Normal human donger then.

Uncut is legit the best. Anyone who says otherwise is pic related

Rolled 10 (1d10)

Almost all apps have been heavily modified, and there's been setting changes (mostly the NPC stories) since I reviewed them so the results aren't too accurate.

It's true, I'm not exactly peer-reviewed or anything. Everyone who tries is a winner!

Next in the hotseat, Grandis Gracea, Paladin of the Shepherd, normie reeee!
Image unrelated since they didn't have one.

Actually, nothing against normal roll20 players, but it's personally annoying that a lot of them don't structure their apps, and invariably say how long they've been playing various games as a benefit. Perhaps I'm jaded but I haven't been able to use how long someone's been playing as any kind of measure. People can be new and be great, and more importantly can be terrible at playing for years and never change.

But, onto the app!

>A girl who once looked after a broken down order found a village burnt down due to tome monsters
>because the village was burnt the order just disbands
>wtf I hate tome monsters now

It's short, and honestly not too compelling. The lack of structure and the whole app melding together really makes it hard to judge well, though it does sound like she's willing to change it and it's more a springboard for the GM to make changes for it. If expanded on it could show more potential.

THE GOOD: It's... still under construction. There's, uh, room for improvement?

THE BAD: Yeah, not going to lie, there's not enough here to review well.

I'm so excited! Tonight I'm going to a fish fry as part of Lent, then I'm going to be playing and eating out *all* weekend!

Everyone else is talking about transformation shit, I dunno, I just wanna satisfy my partners even if it ain't my cup of jizz

give us the wild west reviews

>Appeal: 2/5 Brought up to be a good person, decides to go on revenge. No actual information on personality or what Grandis is like.
>Backstory: 3/5 The applicant has clearly read up on the setting and put in some interesting plot hooks, but it feels very weak narratively for driving the character's motivations.
>Compatibility: 2/5 Without a sheet, can't say much.
>Setting accuracy 3/5 See above. Expounds on some of the stuff with Amubari, which no-one else has really touched.
>Sexual potential: 2/5 No description, it's an unknown. Can't rate it well, but it's unlikely to be a complete turnoff.

DEAD RELATIVES COUNT: 0 All alive and accounted for.

THINGS TO LOOK AT: Elizabeth really needs to just complete the app with more confidence and not rely on Vult to assist. Structuring it would help a lot, too.

APP UP NEXT: Amber, the Forgotten

I keep rolling high. I wish I could do this during my actual games.

You know... This might just be me, but I don't think they want *you* to transform, *they* want to transform.

not enough apps up yet

MORE APPS

Honestly maybe you're right, it just freaks me out that people seem to be so into pseudo-furry stuff becausr muh monstergirls in the past few years while I still ascribe to "if it has a snout, throw it out"

>Companion to the lonely 4.png
>4
W-where's 1 through 3?

I like the idea of the blacksmith's maintenance, but I feel like they're probably going to have to halve the boost from sharpen weapons or something. A bardic performance can already be a pretty aces damage boost and that has a resource expenditure involved.

I like the concept of the blacksmith a lot but I think it probably needs a BAB downgrade (which makes sense to me since it's an expert that became a badass) and something done about sharpen weapons so that you can focus on the other neat stuff maintenance can do for the party.

I think maintenance is a great idea, again, and I'm surprised nobody's come up with something like that before, but right now Sharpen Weapons is just very much the obvious thing to take and part of the problem is doing damage isn't really a place martials need help. More done about "magic is much better at literally everything else except damage-dealing and even then it's close at times" is what we need.

With that in mind, I do think it might behoove the SoM guys to add some more out of combat stuff to some of the spheres. I did like that the barroom sphere gives you some skill tricks to go with the improvised weapon stuff.

>Licking leather gloves

Well if we're in the same game I'd want you to be comfortable and yourself. It's no fun forcing yourself to RP a scene you don't enjoy or aren't comfortable with because you want to satisfy your partner. I feel it lowers the quality overall cause you're not actually giving it your all.
t. someone who did a noncon scene who doesn't like noncon but my partner does

What do you feel have been the setting changes from NPC stories that will make the biggest changes in the app backgrounds?

She's not wearing gloves....

I would like to point out that all three of my optimized 6th-level builds so far have had five levels in blacksmith, simply for the crafting benefits and the passive upgrades.

The blacksmith is simply too overloaded a class.

It is particularly bizarre how the blacksmith's maintenances apply even if allies go completely naked for some reason, and how sharpen weapons applies even to new weapons that the blacksmith's party picks up. "Maintenance" is more of an (Ex) aura of inexplicable arete.

>still no cow-girls or guys for WWW
>but we have a fucking bug person

I've been gone for a long time.

Can someone explain to me what the fuck is going on? Where are all the lewds coming from and what's the deal with apps and puella?

Are there cowfolks in WWW? I thought that was Blood Mountain?

Looks like it.

What do you have against bug people?

Sex talk was normalized by RotJR and since we can't keep it in our pants, we've just continued to talk about it ever since.

Yes, the Minos.

>"Maintenance" is more of an (Ex) aura of inexplicable arete.

While the bonuses it provides are too good, I like that idea on its own - the concept you're so good on the job that by the time any ally thinks of using a weapon, you've already sharpened it. It's the sort of thing martials conceptually need to take them out of mundanity.

Bear in mind that it applies even to unarmed attacks (both natural and manufactured, I believe) and alchemical splash weapons, for some bizarre reason.

Granted, this is probably a good idea (and even better if it was to apply to natural weapons too), because you would not want to screw anyone in the party out of a weapon damage bonus. Still, it could stand to be flavored more intuitively.

>What do you feel have been the setting changes from NPC stories that will make the biggest changes in the app backgrounds?
Melra, Vampire of war - > Nightwalkers who get overcorrupted may lose senses of morality, but are still intelligent and perfectly capable of recovering somewhat from mindbreak.

Robert Renfield - > Tome manifestations don't always reach full maturity and "zombies are everywhere and eating people's brains", they can end even with the person using the tome intact and alive. But they *also* give actual (corrupted) power and allows it to be used, if you don't mind it making a big mess.

See attached.

Look a Minos was my second idea okay? I just liked the character concept behind Britt more. Geez.

...

I think some of that should be fine. Pathfinder only benefits from embracing the "just that good" effect a little more and remembering that (Ex) does not necessarily mean you need to be able to do it in real life with real people. Acceptable breaks from reality in the name of smoother gameplay are fine.

Making the class less overloaded, I agree with, but I feel that once Sharpen Weapons is less of a must-have maintenance is a good thing.

I personally believe in separate spheres (heh) for what martials and mages can do, but buffing is one of the things I think they should both be capable of.

Although I might end up reiterating one of your points to Sslarn at some point because I think mass transport over exceedingly long distances is one of those things that only makes sense as a magical ability. I like the finding secret passages aspect of it but that needs some major tuning.

1) someone ran a game where erp and cocktease was encouraged and it opened the floodgates and now we're at monster rape: the rapening.

2) For some reason, people feel the need to constantly post their r20 apps in this thread, usually accompanied by 'I want to lewd X other character!'.

3) Puella is a game where people get raped and turned into monsters. That's really all you need to know.

I can't be your personal milkboy. Sorry.

the fact that its a Tiefling is actually what weirds me out

I've been trying to figure out what RotJR is from context/google and can't figure out shit. Can someone give me a brief explanation?

I feel like I walked into the wrong locker room and no one noticed but there isn't a right one to go to instead.

rise of the jade regent, someone mashing together rise of the runelords and jade regent.

I am certain other people will tell you, in great detail, all about the characters.

...

RotJR is a campaign which uses the first book of Rise of the Runelords followed by the entirety of Jade Regent. It was advertised extensively on /pfg/ and eventually became a self-sustaining meme due to the large number of character applications and a very, very long application window (3 months.)

The reason this normalized "lewd" discussion is due to the large amount of "shipping" that was done over the course of the application process, up to and including discussions on who had the biggest tits and how many babies some men could father.

Well, Pathfinder doesn't seem to have a whole lot of bug people as is. Perhaps they've just made do.

Nothing. Your cause is hopeless.

WWW gm is open to homebrew though.

Tossing my previous app and writing an entirely new one all because I found a piece of character art on an old computer

I've been looking at the Bleed Air talent from the Duelist sphere. Something about it just bugs me.

I feel like sometimes it's going to be completely useless (roll a 4 on the onset time and the enemy's probably dead before the suffocation effect sets in, the enemy has a healing factor or spells) but other times when you get the 1 and the onset is next round your enemy could drop from literally hundreds of HP to dying immediately if they don't have healing abilities or ranks in the Heal Skill, which many monsters do not.

Powerful, but inconsistent in that sometimes using it is a waste of time and sometimes the GM stares in shock as your second attack asphyxiates something incredibly badass and brings the boss fight to a shattering halt. I'm not sure if or how it needs to be addressed, though.

How about this?
"The Blacksmith's intuitive understanding of each individual weapon is so good that they can give their allies advice on how to use them to their fullest potential by capitalizing on quirks like slightly uneven weight distribution, or air resistance. As long as the Blacksmith is conscious, any ally within 60ft that can understand them gets [bonuses]."

"Alternately, if a blacksmith spends a full round adjusting a manufactured weapon, any creature using that weapon gains these bonuses for X time regardless of the blacksmith's condition or location."

What's the pic, if you don't mind my asking?

Burnt Offerings into the entirety of Jade Regent. It's a popular way to do things for whatever reason, but in THIS THREAD it (usually) refers to the MASSIVE CLUSTERFUCK of a game that a GM had said "hey imma run this in a few months, lewds allowed I guess. Anyone interested?". Cue like, 3-4 months of explosive shitposting, fanned by the creation of a fucking WAITING ROOM GROUP IN ROLL20 WHERE PEOPLE MADE CHARACTERS AND ASKED RULES QUESTIONS MONTHS IN ADVANCE. Things snowballed out of control and here we are.
Nice 9's, idiot.

>no Aeon or Psychopomp planetouched
>no Protean planetouched
>no Inevitable, Axiomite, or Formian planetouched
Get on the ball, Paizo. This is activating my autism.

Seeing as there are already at least three skill characters, one even with a blown out eye, I was looking at a Minos Antipaladin or Ranger who still holds a grudge against the human slavers.

Does anyone have that 3pp book with all the monk archetypes converted for use with Unchained Monk? Was interested in seeing how it converted Martial Artist, but didn't see it in the trove. Unless I'm just retarded and didn't see it.

Ganzi are protean planetouched.

d20pfsrd.com/races/other-races/more-races/race-points-unknown/ganzi/

I would have it be a 24-hour buff usable once per day, and I would call it "instruction."

It seems more fitting for the commander, however, particularly when it can benefit characters who are completely naked and attacking with unarmed strikes.

Despite how edgy it looks, I plan to play him as an incredibly personable, fast-talking nice-guy who's only concealing his identity because shitty people his family pissed off are trying to kill him.
RIP polish paladin, you probably won't be missed by anyone but me

Well that's fucking weird. Are there loads of copy cat games springing up now or are people just doing this shit here just for fun now?

I can't imagine having to sort through all those fucking apps.

I could see these as aeon planetouched

d20pfsrd.com/races/other-races/more-races/race-points-unknown/astomoi/

People are adopting the long app format and shitposting but I wouldn't call them copycats.

The original GM had so many apps he took on TWO GROUPS AT ONCE. Other people saw how thirsty for games people were and started advertising other APs with similar chargen rules. Less copycat games, more "there was now precedent for it".

Got a name for the book so I don't have to guess?

The blacksmith SHOULD be just that good.

It's either that or you start having to create weapons by seducing young women.

I don't mean copy cat in a bad way, just doing the same thing since you now know it works/people are willing to do it, I guess.

I think I remembered why it's not in the trove, actually. Look at this cover.
paizo.com/products/btpy9dsh?Everyman-Unchained-Monk-Archetypes

mechanical.
you've lost your dick? you either get it back, or get a new one.

We can rebuild it. We have the technology. We can make it better than it was. Bigger. Faster. Stronger.

Better to just say that you sharpen the weapons but it's what grants the bonus. It's the feeling that you take care of their gear and confidence coming with it. Basically placebo. Not sure if that wouldn't require it to change to morale bonus.

>all these meme game apps and pcs
Well, in my game, that is actually happening in the real world, myself and my party are set to murder an entire underground hive of yuan-ti.
By murder, I mean get completely thrashed by them, and probably watch one of them (me) get mind controlled by the snakemen.

I have 1 and 2. You want both?

Is she hot?
You have pics?
Why can't she wash first though?

I understood that reference

Not him, but I'll take them

I never did get around to finishing Thousand Arms. I wonder if my old PS1 still works.

>augunas

reeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

How does a blacksmith sharpen a monk's... nothing?

Also not him, but i'll take them too.

Mine also went underground to try and retrieve our sand skiff from a bunch of mutated scorpion people that got basically turned into the Collectors from Mass Effect by an egotistical 'genius' from another plane who wanted to learn through force and converting them and random civilians into more obedient servants/agents.

It suuuuuuuuucked. Was a great session.

emulation's super easy nowadays if not
