The Magic Card is 50% better, plus whatever value "or make your opponent draw 3"
But aren't Magic decks also 50% larger?
Pot of Greed is better simply because it costs no resources.
This answer ignores the relative design space of each game. You're running Blue for Recall in MTG, a non-trivial requirement. Pot of Greed goes into any and all decks.
I don't know a lot about Yu-Gi-Oh, but this fucker was a 4-of in every Pokemon TCG ever, and Pokemon had bigger decks than Yu-Gi-Oh
What does Pot of Greed do again?
Yeah but every Pokemon Meta thus far has two or three staple Trainer cards for every single competitive deck. Name one deck that doesn't run Sycamore, for example
It allows me to draw 2 additional cards.
From a purely theoretical point, turn 1 pot of greed is superior, as with other draw trap and magic cards can chain, as there is no limit to the number of magic or trap cards that can be played in Yu-Gi-Oh. Later in the game, once in magic the player has a substantial mana base, Ancestral Recal can be used to more effectively chain drawing to get whatever cards you need, the downfall being that by using mana to draw cards, you are using the resource you would need to play the card you are looking for. Because of this, I would say that pot of greed is the better card, as a 0 cost 2 draw card in magic would be superior to a 1 cost 3 draw.
Ah, but you forget, Recall has a second hidden ability that allows you to make your opponent draw cards. Whilst this seems stupid at first glance, one can easily think of a menagerie of situations where one could use it to their advantage.
