Great. Now "furry" has lost all meaning. Put on some fake cat ears and suddenly everyone's balls deep in an opossum.

"Furry" is a very narrowly-defined and self-referential category onto itself, defined by the incestuous aping of just a few different art styles to create a simplified but cartoony art style which is its own classification due to the very limited focus of its subject matter, which is anthropomorphic animals, usually cats, dogs, and variants thereof plus selected barnyard mammals, plus fringe groups with focuses on other animals. The subject matter usually revolves around teenage social subject matters as well as "mature" content and in the extremes weird fetishes, unlike most other forms of human/animal depiction.

They are otherwise unrelated to:
>classical depictions of anthropomorphic animals
>classic depictions of humanoids with animal features
>contemporary depictions of humans with animal features
>grotesque hybrids such as werewolves, at least when the tone of such depictions is outside the range of "furry" tone (such as a classical gothic horror tone)
>humans/animals fucking, which is just bestiality

Tangentially related to:
>segments of the MLP fandom, as they have coopted much of the same tone and subject matter as furries so much that they may be considered a subset
>amateur Western adult/mature animation, as it borrows more from Western traditions and styles than it does Japanese styles, hence the more cartoony style

Well hot damn, you took the bait but actually gave out a toughtful and well constructed answer with valid arguments.

Here's to you!

Shit I just wanted to talk about standard

Pretty new to Magic. Been playing for about a month.

I've got a Grixis Tower deck with a shit manabase. When I don't get manascrewed, it's pretty fun.

Just played against a mono white humans deck with the shapeshifter card in it. Lost game one. Won both games postboard. It's so, so satisfying to come back from 0–1 because you sideboarded well. Brought in Lightning Weavers, Harness Lightning, another Dyna.

Serpopard further solidifies the decision to switch to Modern soon.

On a different note, how do you guys play? MTGO or paper? I've been struggling to find a balance between the two. MTGO is cheaper but I don't want to be stuck in my room playing. The social aspect seems important to MTG. But I'm not used to playing games like this with other people. I can often feel the mental strain of playing while facing another person. I'm sure that I'll acclimate to playing in person eventually but eh.

I can't stand MTGO. Good luck to those who play it but the interface rubs me the wrong way and I lose to misclicks too often. Not my favorite way to play, I feel like I'd rather play xmage or cockatrice even though they are both TERRIBLE.

As to the mental strain, I feel you. After 3 or 4 rounds I begin to get real fatigued and start making stupid mistakes, however I enjoy the company of most of the people who play at the LGS. A lot of them I'm friendly with and we have some good banter and enjoyable games where we help people with after-game rundowns about how we can improve our games, some good small talk etc.
There are a couple guys who I can't really get along with and I try to finish the games as quickly and as efficiently as possible so I don't have to engage with them for long. They aren't bad dudes, I just don't like 'em.

Fantastic, user.

Remember kids, the definition of 'furry' is not ears and a tail, it's the turbo-autist need to make EVERYTHING about furries, by furries, oppressing furries, etc. The Hypersexual shit isn't necessary, but often present.

I have no idea idea what's going on in this thread, but have a thing anyway.

...

Enjoying Temur Tower, hoping Amonkhet is a good set for control.

Hoping that this is real

Oh lawd, probably not, too broken now that efficient etb creatures are the backbone of every set

It's not. Maro specifically said that card would not get reprinted

The fuck is any of this garbage?

>"Furry" is a very narrowly-defined

We can stop right fucking there.

"Furry" is a subjective slang term. It can be used to describe anything anthropomorphic and somewhat bestial. As a slang term, and a subjective one at that, it's broad as fuck and has been since the start.

The closest thing there is to a hard definition is "Shit that the furry fandom likes" which guess what, is pretty much everything you listed and then some.

>classical depictions of anthropomorphic animals
which furries jack off to
>classic depictions of humanoids with animal features
which furries jack off to
>contemporary depictions of humans with animal features
which furries jack off to
>grotesque hybrids such as werewolves, at least when the tone of such depictions is outside the range of "furry" tone (such as a classical gothic horror tone)
which furries still jack off to
>humans/animals fucking, which is just bestiality
No arguments there.

A self-imposed definition of "Furry is purely shit I don't like" is not going to catch on.

I would say instead that furry is the intersection or the oversimplification of Xenophilia and Zoophilia, where on one end you have people that want to fuck inhuman creatures with human intelligence (Garrus Vakarian, The Arbiter from Halo, The Predator, dragons, sentient jet planes, etc) and on the other you will have the poor saps that desperately want to be animals and fuck animals.

And yes, you will find everything I listed from Garrus to sentient jet plane porn on FurAffinity and e621, the major furry havens of the interbutts.

You shouldn't care about what is and isn't furry regardless. Something should be judged on it's own merits, not for faggot meme reasons

Set just wants to have a good time.

The dual land cycle screams "We want to print fetches but don't want another KTK/BFZ and want to make them not that good to begin with anyways"
Predictions on how the meta may shift, if at all?
Anything that makes any of the new decks good will see play. Anything that doesn't but can't make a standout deck.

Fling being reprinted might be good for the cheap Pummeler deck to make a huge showing, since the spell pretty much means you can pump the Pummeler up and then just use it as a means of getting past creatures.

But that's all the guesses I can make really.

Asking questions like this doesn't help. The asshole you're talking to will either snark it away, or unleash a multi-paragraph hellstorm of rage about how UTTERLY VILE AND UNHOLY his preconceived imaginary enemies are and how everyone in the world should hate them to prove that the word you used correctly shouldn't be used correctly because it gets in the way of his hate.

I am generally curious what are some other gods other than Egyptian ones that are anthropomorphic?

...

No greater example exists of MaRo's faggotry.

Vampire tribal. Cutthroat is love. Cutthroat is life.

Many of the South/Central American ones.

That wasn't my takeaway from that. Way I read it was more like "furries are gross and disgusting, but all these things I like are NOT furry because I say so, because I like these things and I'm obviously not one of those gross horrible furries! Shut up!"
It's like, get over it, you can like things that furries like without joining their stupid club. And maybe consider that there are probably a lot more furries who are like you than the gross weirdos you're so worried about, even if the internet tells you otherwise.

They're found all over in various corners of the world, it's a frequently recurring theme. Off the top of my head, I remember that Catal Huyuk in Asia Minor had a wolf-headed goddess who was straight out of a Conan movie what with the pile of skulls and giant altar with grooves in it to channel the blood.
(They say one era's gods become a later era's demons, and sometimes there's even good reason for that!)

and then some self-righteous asshat will rant about how he's totally above it all and better than us opinionated people
