No Nuns With Guns for the new Shadow Wars thing? That's kinda disappointing.
Asher Torres
I figure they'll get added when SoB actually get plastics. I know there are rumors that they'll get a push with 8th edition, so we'll see if it's true.
Anyone else really missing from Shadow War?

What the fuck is wrong with me?
Thomas Davis
Havent checked in for a while. The new chaos stuff arrived, right? Any good? It was tzeentch focused, right?
Nicholas Russell
...
Adrian Rivera
Apparently there aren't really rules for having Space marines. Scouts are the marine force, and full-fledged marines are the one-mission specialists for them.
Which is weird, because Chaos has marines out the ass alongside their cultists.
William Fisher
Inquisitorial squads?
And I don't know about plastic sisters, there has been rumors about them since The Witch Hunters codex. I'm starting to lose hope.
Easton King
Wanna start 40k, like the looks of necron, grey knights and deathwatch. Which should I pick? I'm new so something more forgiving but not absolutely shit in the meta would be cool.

I know the same feeling man. Every time I draw a line and tell myself I'll take a break on my chaos army and do something else, I keep finding more and more things to work on.
Currently I'm fighting the urge to just add an entire secondary Khorne force.
Grayson Butler
grey knights are pretty bad deathwatch is mediocre necrons are high mid tier/low high tier No one has a problem with crons and they're competitive at every level, a good starting choice
Carson Reyes
The worst part is that my friend gave me a bunch of CSM bits that he found, and there's an old raptor backpack in there, which means I can make my raptor lord now. It's like... Fucking christ. I guess I'm doing CSM now again?
Gavin Bennett
Deathwatch works better as an allied army, sort of elite, specialized marines to pair up with a full marine army or guard regiment.
Grey Knights are similar, being elite marines, though are kind of overpriced and less focused on what they want to do.
Necrons are quite solid and easy to play, paint, and learn.
Wyatt Martin
Yeah. My friend is offering me a bunch of spare bits and models he isn't planning on using at a sweet deal, but I really feel like I need to focus on something other than Chaos for a while.
Josiah Williams
Cool. Watched a batrep or two, necron seems to be heavily invested into shooting. After the start collecting set (12 warriors, 1 overlord, 1 triarch stalker, 1 scarab swarm), what should I be looking at getting? Thinking of a few simple games first to get a feel of w40k rules.
Jordan Gray
>No one has a problem with crons
>So you're playing Necrons yeah >Well I hope you're not planning to use >Decurion >Wraiths >Canoptek Harvest >Destroyer Cult >Teleporting circus party >Forge World Pylons right... how many points of free Transports do you have? >About 400 right
Logan Diaz
The Ark Phalanx box might be a decent addition, another box of warriors and a transport for them as well. I would suggest sticking with that until you get a better feel for how they play and how the game works, then look over your options.
I'd recommend more, but I only know this second hand from my friend's crons.
Samuel Morris
I'm actually hoping to sell all my chaos daemons because I just don't like them anymore, which I can then turn into more stuff that I need I suppose.
My main army is imperium, so I'm not exactly chaosed out. I just need to focus on something.
Aiden Perez
That's understandable. For me, I love having a lot of different armies. I've got at least 1000 points wrapped up in 4 or 5 by now. But right now I'm just stuck on Chaos marines. I wouldn't be surprised if I've got 3000 points with all the crap I've just accumulated.
Liam Ortiz
Gotcha. Thanks!
Easton Mitchell
>>About 400
Garbage BC build.
Thomas Smith
My main army is Sisters, so getting shit for that is a pain, though I'm sitting on a out 2000pts because I've been playing them for like 10 years now. Then, I have CSM, Tzeentch daemons with some 'letters, and a pile of dark eldar that I could probably make into a 1500 if I stretch it a little. The daemons I can do about 2000 points, too. Even if I just dump them for like 200-300, I'd be happy.
Evan Cruz
How many points does Decurion RP save you in a game? Your entire army divided by 50%.
How many points do all those Wraiths save you by simple virtue of being extremely undercosted, even BEFORE their toughness boost and points drop from their newest codex? More than a couple free Rhinos will provide.
Brayden Ortiz
Yeah. I've got a BaC box that I have sitting around to make into a loyalist force so I can actually ally with something there, and it's taking a lot of willpower to resist just making another 30 so Chaos marines.
Ryder Wilson
It's plus 1 RP, so a 16% increase. Marines really shouldn't be throwing shade at others.
Asher Murphy
...
Eli Sullivan
Isha, if only to piss off Aeldari.
Landon Powell
>Your entire army divided by 50%.
Getting 4+ feel no pain when you already had 5+ feel no pain army-wide is not a 50% boost in survivability. That sort of boost is what you guys can get just by calling your guys Iron Hands.
There is no conceivable way a squad of wraiths is undercosted by several hundred points. They're a great assault unit, fast, durable, etc. but if a Necron player invests in all of those while you park Obsec Razorbacks on every objective, you'll pull ahead in the end.
Jaxson Ward
Thankfully, I don't have that problem because I autistically refuse to play loyalist space marines.
Kevin Morales
An Ecclesiarchy kill team, just a bunch of crazy dudes with chainsaws and harsh language ready to die for their Emperor.
And Inquisitorial henchmen, small team of well trained operatives with diverse skills... it kinda feels like a no brainer, this kinda shit is their bread and butter.
Robert Turner
I have no idea how to expand my list. I have a bunch of other models, but not really a feeling on how I could make the list actually work

All right, my fucking drought is broken and I finally got to take this Iron Warriors list for a spin.
>Versus Emperor's Children -Threadbare Lord+CC Chosen in Rhino -5x Noise Marines -Cultist Blob -Dinobot with Autocannons -Hellturkey with baleflamer
>Rolled Emperor's Will which we both agreed was fine for a stupidly simple re-introductory game >I managed to Seize Initiative >Rapier, Dread and Warpsmith deployed opposite the Dinobot and cultists on my left >Autocannon Squad camped objective in middle, opposite his Noise Marines, also camping his Objective >Havocs, Plasma squad and Predator squared off to blitzkrieg the right flank, facing his Chosen >I rolled on the IW traits and reinforced the Autocannon squad's cover to 3+
>Rapier evaporated 4 cultists and penned Dinobot, saved by 5++, that was about as good as it got as those two spent the rest of the game impotently flailing at each other due to poor dice rolls >Warpsmith and Dread ran straight at the Cultists ready to unleash a shitload of templates on the Cultists before turning their anti-tank toys on the Dinobot. But, they rolled a 1 for Run distance, leaving them juuust out of template range next turn. Hellturkey arrived Turn 2 and took out the dread with a single Vector Strike, then erased half the Autocannon squad with its Baleflamer. Their fancy 3+ cover was completely useless since they didn't take fire from anything but the Turkey the entire game. >Despite this, Autocannon marine capped three cultists and a Noise Marine before running out of targets and spending the last turns trying to hit the Turkey >Warpsmith managed to Curse the Forgefiend (fucker rolled 3 Gets Hot but saved them all) before getting charged by the Cultists, and spent most of the game them chopping up (slaying their champion and rolling +1 Initiative... when he has a Power Axe, DERP) but was readying a meltagun shot into the Immobilized Dinobot's side for Turn 5 when my opponent conceded.
Liam Sullivan
>make an angry marine paint scheme >absolutely crushing in some random game >one person on the enemy team spergs out over "that fucking mcdonalds marine"
Game was a lot of fun if fairly simple. Shame its sequel is coming NEVER
Easton Carter
The guy with "400 points of free transports" doesn't have any RP at all.
Caleb Martin
And Necrons don't have Chapter tactics or ATSKNF. It's almost like a lot of armies have army wide special rules or something.
Christopher Murphy
The only good BC builds use pods and rhinos, so that's 35 x 6, which is only 11% of 1850. RBs are complete shit. You have to pay for turret upgrades, they are only a TLHB stock, and have no hatch to fire grav out of. HS slots should be Centurions and FA slots should be bikes, so spamming even more transports is irrelevant. Transports also don't kill anything, and Rhinos have never been considered good other than due to their low cost, so lowering an already low cost to 0 is barely worth crying about.
Take away all the other OP shit marines have and leave them Battle Company and the army is complete trash. Go ahead and fucking try it if you don't believe me. Play a Battle Company with no cheesy units or grav and see how amazing those free transports are compared to innate xenos firepower such as Necron gauss, Tau everything, and Eldar everything.
Literally no competitive vanilla lists use RBs.
Landon Wilson
>Chapter tactics >ATSKNF >shit Daemons Eldar and Tau don't have yet are still doing better than marines
It's almost like xenos have better army wide special rules like REANIMATION PROTOCOL yet complain about stupid shit like chapter tactics. I bet all those Black Templar whiners sure should just stfu since they have such nice chapter tactics!
Liam Wood

Oh shit what are you doing? They are objective secured models that block LOS and can't be damaged by small arms fire. You use them to go grab objectives so your dudes can focus on killing rather than worrying about spending 2 turns capping an objective.

Cont'd >Meanwhile, my Panzer IV chassis tanks took their heritage to heart and fucking blitzkrieg'd the right flank, erasing the Rhino, Chosen and Lord with sustained plasma fire, netting me First Blood and Slay the Warlord, before killing all but one of his Noise Marines and getting within capture distance of his Objective as well as having units with 3" of his board edge. >He conceded when it became clear next turn I'd wipe out the last Noise Marine giving me uncontested control of his Objective, and the Warpsmith would likely destroy the Dinobot, leaving him with only the Turkey.
Things I learned: -Holy shit Helldrakes are insane. Flyers in general are insane but a Flyer with a 5++ and It Will Not Die is going to be fucking hard to put down, even with dedicated AAA. -My list is minimally viable, the units work well with each other and anything lacking serious anti-tank is going to struggle against that much armour, even if it's mostly only AV11 -What's not to like about a 72" range Vindicator? The Dice Gods and their sense of humour. -Everyone liked the PzIV's, the German theme overall and my conversions, which was awesome.
Logan Jackson
What are some decent ways to combine necrons and tau into an army?
Liam Martin
Footslogging tough necron units absorbing damage with either deep striking plas/melta crisis suits or optimised stealth cadre shenanigans. Alternatively take a y'vahra or Barracuda AX-5-2 (better than a croissant) or an armoured interdiction cadre If you want to be a faggot take a riptide wing and be that guy, but no one will play you
Grayson Diaz
Shit, also forgot: >Icon of Excess doesn't fuck around, and makes Noise Marines a huge pain in the ass. >6+ FNP isn't dogshit if it's army-wide. Both my opponent and myself made enough FNP saves to make an appreciable difference to the battle. >Iron Warriors Legion rules are fun enough. Havocs with Plasma Guns and Tank Hunters bundled up in a Rhino was easily my MVP unit.
Caleb Jones
I'm building my first army, it'll be unbound and just dudes that I think are cool. So far I have 1 Riptide. I think I'll get a commander with marker drones and drone controller to support the rip. Obviously I need to keep in mind synergy and complementary units and can't just hodge podge randomness
Necrons I think are cool too but I'm not deadset on them. I'll probably need something to push forward and engage while the rip snipes
Dylan Lopez
no one plays unbound, you'll barely find games and formations can be better than unbound By units you think are cool, are you looking only at tau or at any units at all, since farsight enclaves gives you crisis suits are troops choices, eliminating the boring infantry that plagues normal tau. Also never bring a riptide below 1250 points, unless playing against daemons/eldar/grav spam
Justin Gutierrez
Hey guys fresh BL stuff to complain about.
Henry Flores
So, I think I had one of the most one sided games I have ever played today. It was my Sisters vs a Dangle cad, and for shits and giggles I took a Vestigial Task Force for the first time (spoilers: it was worthless) with pic related. We did Maelstrom of war and rolled escalation. The final score was 12-3.
I had an early lead and was sitting on 6 points to his 2, but he had a potential swing in his favor. If he cast an interromancy power and killed my warlord in a challenge, he could potentially take the lead (d3 for challenge, 1 for WL, 1 for power). He dumps all 6 of his dice into making my Dominions snap shoot and only managed one success, which I manage to negate with adamantium will.
Next, his flier finally arrived and unloads into my command squad, which takes out 3 sisters, then his command squad kills one more and puts a wound on the canoness. He assaults, challenges, and his goons kill my last dude. In the challenge, we're both hitting on 4s and wounding on 2s with a 4++ save, but he has 4+1 attacks to my 3. We each wound once and he fails to kill me.
My turn. I roll my objectives and get 15 and 16. Then first is activate AoF for 1pt, 3 for d3 pts, or 5 for 3+d3 pts. I only had 4 AoF left, so do I could get a d3 out of it. The second, is if a faithful character dies, I get a point, but if it's a character with Martyrdom, I get a d3. Low and behold, I activate my 3 faith powers, failing my canoness on an 11 of all things, and then proceed to put another wound into his character and take one in return. I roll a 4 and 5 for my 2d3 and snag 5 for my canoness dieing, but he only gets 1 for my warlord because he didn't get the kill on his turn.
The game ends, I get line breaker because Dominions, and the final score is 12-3.
Holy fuck.
Caleb Mitchell
Well that sucks I was hoping to avoid the formation annoyance for when I got the hang of things and a bigger collection. I like a few different factions, like grey knights too, but they are very bad supposedly

Most guns have bonuses for shooting at close range. But yes, Burnas are an Orks best friend.

How will artillery be affected?

Looking for opinions on my comp list 1850p. Vindicators points are 5 more over what the codex says, so the list is in the correct limit.
Jayden Fisher
orks
because they always win.
Kayden Richardson
That's the SoA rules, not 8th. We don't know if they'll use the exact same system.
What would be good for Tzeentch daemonkin spawn? I'd think maybe Ogroid Thaumaturges, being Tzeentchian and having the same base size.
Charles Hill
>fellow tread head MY NIGGA
Cameron Roberts
I know. It was more of a rhetorical question.
Because if they don't find a way to nerf artillery the same way, oh buy, 30k is gonna be fun. No point in trying to dakka the enemy when you can't hit shit, just roll a few rapier batteries and medusas and nuke the board.
Charles Fisher
>doesn't mention that Shootas get +2 To Hit at short range and a sustained fire dice
Nicholas Martin
I have a problem. I want to build a ork army. But...
I kinda want to do a speed freaks army. Trukks, bikes, deffkoptas. But that's insanely expensive and the army I would like to build would cost at least 450€.
Or I could just buy a bunch of Start Collecting! boxes and some trukks and call it a day. I would save like 200€ but do I really want to?
Why is life so hard?
Luke Gonzalez
They have to magdump to hit anything
Jason Allen
>deffkoptas AoBR
>bikes converted deffkoptaz
>trukkz fucking everything, hell i used plastic toys even, only orkified them enough and made sure they fit the scale
Also this is beside the point, but mek gun+trukk kitbash means even more mek gunz, and you'll want these, they are godly
Ryan Garcia
Veeky Forums, do you think you would enjoy playing against this? It's made with fun for my opponent in mind, but I want a decent chance of winning as well.
Isaac Nelson
>I want to build a ork army. Take it slow, these things should be a labor of love. ESPECIALLY with a new edition looming.
also just use the trukk boy box, man
Joshua Hill
Second try:
I have some Horus Heresy artbooks with Sisters of Silence wearing silvered armour. Does anyone have informations about that? Because I would like to use silver amour on my sisters but I want them lore-conform. Thank you very much :)
Asher Williams
That one on the right is too "ara, ara~" for my liking
Xavier Collins
That's what makes it an qt
Elijah Sullivan
Assuming your the owner, that's a really great idea Might have to steal it if i need to expand a DG list
Jose Williams
Not the owner, but I do think that it is kinda cute. I also enjoy the idea of different forms of spawn for different gods instead of simply having all of them like they are now.
Isaiah Roberts
I like those, actually.
However, I'm Night Lords and didn't want to use daemon-y looking spawn, and the crypt ghasts look fitting.
Isaac Myers
guess what, marines aren't good when you take away grav and the power-formations skyhammer and libby conclave.
