Favorite Tau caste?

the thicc one

Trick question.
0.The greater good as whole
1.Ethereal
2.Your own caste

Anyone else vaguely paranoid at the idea of 40k 8th not letting you have HQs join units anymore, a l a Sigmar?

while were on the subject of the nids, id like to repeat something another user said a while back
the outer colonies of the imperium dont actually have cockroaches, just really tiny tyrannids that eat pets and small children
i just thought that could actually be a thing

AoS will eventually turn back into old fantasy before the clusterfuck that was 8ed, GW have realized that people get interested if they actually have a game to offer and not a 4 page rulebook and overpriced miniatures

i mean they never encountered it in other galaxies

Well on the one hand it would undo some of the super friends stuff. On the other hand, it's my least liked part of AoS since you can just hero snipe the fuckers with artillery. With the massive amounts of shooting in 40k, I think it's unlikely

shit. meant to reply to

That would be the end of a lot of armies, like CSM and Orks, and I think (or hope) that they know enough now to try to buff underpowered armies.

>The two remaining Daemon Lords then led a final mad charge against the Tyranids. However the Hive Mind had by this point absorbed their opponents strategies, using Tyrannofexes and Trygons to meet them. The Daemonic lines soon collapsed, and as the Bloodthirster Hak'Vasha was dragged back into the Warp he was still wrestling with three Trygons. The last of the Daemons had been defeated, and the Hive Mind now turned its attention to the rest of Shadowbrink.

God tyranids are such a boring faction. OH YOU USED YOUR ABILITY ON ME? WELL MY FACTION JUST ABSORBED KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR ABILITY SO YOU LOSE.

God, even Chaos corruption is more interesting,

Unfortunately I've met several people that like having super simple rules and refuse to play 40k because "It's too complicated and takes too much time". These same people are utterly convinced that 40k NEEDS to go the way of AoS to "bring in new blood" despite the fact that 40k has consistently outsold AoS.

I hate to say it, but AoS has some interesting ideas when it comes to combat and i would love to see them change it up a bit more like whfb

Anyone got Slaughter at Giant's Coffin?

we call those people "autistis"

Organic codex updates when?

I agree. Tyranid lore is as miserable as playing against tau.

Now this is what I call bait

It's so if you swap your boltgun for a bolt pistol you get +1 attack

Also fluff.

Sorry I don't find swarms of insects intellectually stimulating.

thats why you git gud and wipe the tyranids out before they can adapt to you. the fucking orks had a stalemate with them on octarius and the swarmlord was fighting there. chaosfags really are worthless

>ideas when it comes to combat
For example? There were many changes, which ones appealed to you?

Time will tell, but most likely we'll se AoS going back to it's fantasy roots due GW pretending to hear the fan base and a big chunk of them are still not happy about most changes

Any dead tau is my favorite tau caste. Filthy xeno scum.

Dead tau are the best tau

This user get it

the way charges are done and extending melee weapon range. magic is okay, same with damage and lot of other stuff

>implying the Tyranids aren't basically biological automata under an hyper evolved life form influence

Flat to wound rolls are shit though

Are combi-flamers on CSM termies worth it at all? I'm doing a footslogging terminator bodyguard for Typhus and can't decide between combi-plasmas and a reaper or a heavy flamer and combi-flamers then converting something up to be some kind of bile-spraying device.

I'm not convinced about the fixed hit and wounds personally, it makes the game a little more two dimensional and weird when a chaos warrior have to make the same effort to hit a dragon and hit a goblin, also measuring from the miniatures, many miniatures literally can't hit archaon or the new dwarfs airships

If you're foot slogging, I don't know that I could ever recommend flamers.

oh, there's a lot that AoS does wrong. i feel like with AoS they held back a lot and you could easily put out expanded rules, more then just warlord traits and more weapons

I hate that Lord Duncan pronounces Abaddon [Black] as Uh-Bad-On Black

at the same time the to hit chart in melee 40k currently uses is kinda shit.

They're fine if you're trying to eliminate a blob unit from deep strike, but it's a waste if that's what you're using the Terminators for.

As for protection, give them a Land raider, foot slogging termis are sorta crap, they'll get shot to shit before you leave your deployment zone.

>Intelligent Hive-Mind realizes that the enemy's main strategy is to just rush in and melee using their two biggest guys
>pumps some resources into making a bunch of equally big guys to stall them so they can focus on the other dudes

How is this even remotely weird? You're implying that the Imperium wouldn't do the exact same thing if they had the ability to mulch civilians and guardsmen and turn them into Imperial Knights over the course of hours or days.

How?

Might want to add this mega link until an official full scan becomes available.
It's for SW:A
mega.nz/#F!Pg0nmCTb!gLkbxonP3bWUpjj8Cscr6A

If you're slogging, I would say Plasma and the reaper. The extra heavy weapon range is more valuable, and plasma also has the furthest range of all the combis (24" standard, 12" rapid fire, while flamers have around 8 and meltaguns want to be at 6.

Does anyone have a pdf version of the imperial guard epub? The actual pdf IG codex is a really shitty scan.

That's dumb. Really tiny Tyranids would escalate pretty quickly to a full blown incursion.

I'm assuming it's
Water, Fire, Earth, and the tall thin one is Air
I like Earth, the 3rd one

...

If you can wait out a while before getting those termis, then wait till the deathguard releases come out in a month or so since it will have special deathguard termis. Also, footslogging termis never works, they just get shot to hell before getting into melee.

Namely to-hit capping at a 3+ and 5+. There is no reason why a bloodthirster at WS 10 shouldn't be smashing WS 3 guardsmen on a 3+ and the guardsmen stabbing it back on a 5+. Most other CCs are 4+ vs 4+ to hit or 3+ vs 4+ to hit. It's odd how inaccurate most CC specialist squads are

It's inconsistent as shit for one thing.
WS4 hits on a 4+ against 4-8 (so 5 different situations), but WS5 hits at a 4+ against 5-10 (so 6 total situations) but WS3 hits on a 4+ against 3-6 (so 4 different situations).

It's not like, say, the to wound chart where you just compare S to T, start out on a 4 and then add or subtract the difference.

I really like the 2nd/SWA way of rolling competing weapon skills to determine hits. I'm sure there's a way to streamline it for larger games.

Okie doke.
Will they? I'm running them in the decurion. I kinda figured they'd be pretty durable and I have two relentless autocannon havoc units marching next to them to draw fire.
I'm converting mine using the FW kit and the Deathshroud termies, I'm not a huge fan of the new DG models I've seen so far.

What if the to hit chart for WS was the same as BS?

Tau would actually be shit in melee against all things. Being blind would make your opponent effectively invisible. Marines would be a lot better on average, and high weapon skill would actually mean something.

It also means that people would be getting hit more often, which means melee fights would typically get resolved faster.

The accuracy is meant to balance out against the number of attacks you get, seeing as how you get two assaults for each shooting phase you get.

But so do they. That makes literally no sense.

>the fucking orks had a stalemate with them

Nope, Planetstrike, Overfiend series, and the Ghaz supplement said that Orks were losing bad.

>Cruddance is to play a major part in 8th
>nids being shit to be officially incorporated into BRB

That's a bit silly to worry about now that the game has such insane amounts of shooting.

Sure, but it's a legacy problem, which GW is always reluctant to change.

>Will they? I'm running them in the decurion. I kinda figured they'd be pretty durable and I have two relentless autocannon havoc units marching next to them to draw fire.

Yeah, even if they're durable, they won't really get many things accomplished if you're marching them up on foot. Having them in a transport protects them against most things and allows them a decent way, but expensive way into combat.

So a net improvement, then?

But the current hit chart got re-done to get rid of 2+ rolls.

When was that? 2e?.

>if I give scourging chains to my NL sorcerer with force sword he effectively has a force lightning claw

This tickles me the right way.

Pretty much. Non-dedicated units would be able to dish out more damage to things trying to kill them in melee. Dedicated melee units would have to spend fewer points trying to kill their targets. 5 turn tarpit slogs between unkillable monstrosities get resolved much faster, since everyone in those is usually WS 6 or something and goes from hitting eachother half the time to hitting eachother almost all the time with a re-roll, effectively cutting the length of those fights in half.

Got into an argument in a game earlier today. Can a Tech-Priest Dominus repair himself while in an assault? I figure that he can't because the point is that he's giving up a shooting action to repair, and since he can't shoot while in an assault, he wouldn't be able to repair himself. Am I right?

It says "instead of firing one of his weapons" but considering you don't fire melee weapons I would assume that it is only by replacing a shooting attack. So no, he can't repair himself while in assault.

Like 5th?

I mostly worry about my Guard blobs being no longer fearless beat sticks. I have hope that they will make Bullgryn and Straken great.

What? Only time I've ever seen a 2+ melee roll is Kharn and I've been playing since 4th.

Hey, just as a rough estimate, how much do you think I'd get for a 5th edition IG army that was about 2k points, mostly infantry, and built as Lost and the Damned?

The NPCs vs the "we trained him wrong as a joke" faction.

Did anyone honestly believe they could win?

the current 40k tournament scene is cancer

2017 lvo and adepticon prove it

age of sigmar is the better game at the moment, but i am hopeful about the new edition

make 40k great again

>We trained him wrong as a joke

Top kek m8

It's ok, when Abaddon finally takes his rightful place as Emperor of Humanity and uses the powers of Chaos to empower the armies of the Imperium he'll spray those bugs like a black man appearing in a bukkake video alongside a bunch of Japanese guys.

Non metallic metal and wet blending are the devil

Non metallic metal is literal meme and I don't know why people keep falling for it.

NMM is not worth the trouble - never really understood why people would put in 3x the time and energy

Actual metallics look better, imo

because its basically a requirement for showcase painting

>mfw I want to go over all my GK's halberds with the formula in the daily Duncan
>mfw I remember I suck at blending

Daily Duncan: youtube.com/watch?v=ACT-RNk2GkY

What is SW:A??

wet blending isn't so bad but i've painted on canvas. the trick is keeping it really wet then adding in small parts of the next color

it's tournaments, what can i say? it's about cut throat min/max and giving orks silent guns as you can get

I have no desire for anything other than Duncan level painting.

I call it tabletop+

But why? It always looks stupid. Maybe it's just subjective but I always preferred photorealism.

If you really want to make him into a melee beatstick, might as well spend the extra points for Curze's Orb

Can you really only take a Cyclopia Cabal as Black Legion? That seems really odd

Its about the technical skill and mastery of lighting. Its why people who do stuff like the crystal brush or golden daemon use NMM instead of regular metallic

I hope the new ruleset comes soon. After playing AoS for a few months I can say 40k will only benefit from being more like it.

Yes, but nothing stops you from taking just that lone formation and throwing it in with the rest of your army as a stand-alone formation

Yeah, I know that. Just kind of annoying since I figured the update would have made it available to any legion.

I guess that would have been a bit silly with Night lords to just get cheap HQs to give squads Stealth though.

That's what I thought, just wanted to make sure. Thanks!

Tournaments are cancer

Based Lorgar here.

Chaos Sisters soon, lads.

this is gonna sound weird, but Pedro Kantor for all intents and purposes is imperial fists.

I play both and AoS gets a lot of unnecessary flak. The GHB added points so the whole retarded "play 13 Nagashes" meme isn't really an issue anymore. AoS is a good beer and pretzels game and takes less time to learn or set up than 40k. 40k is simply a larger game, although AoS is more friendly to including a fuckhuge centrepiece model at low points values (11 model Vampire army at 1k is entirely viable, for example).

Both games have their places. The real problem with AoS is its shit-tier lore. I sincerely hope they don't AoS-ify 40k's lore, but the actual rules probably could use some simplification (and the removal of stupid shit like the 1 grenade FAQ).

I'm going to a small tournament next week, any pointers to giving my opponents more cancer?

5th uses the exact same weapon skill chart as now.

Thanks, friend. I was sticking around in the dead thread waiting for an answer. I think I should still paint him in crimson fist colors though don't you?

Reposting from previous:
I am tinkering around with the idea of pedro kantor, sternguard, and drop pods to make use of his abilities. I have come up with the attached list.

Should I put a locator beacon on a drop pod to try and reduce scatter here?

Also I am trying to decide what would be best to take as combi weapons for the sternguard.

I figure I can park the tac squad on an objective, and then send the rhino out to pick up a footslogger that survives the drop site massacre. It has enough transport to pick up the cents/kantor if needed.

>gf is interested in playing warhams

>He just spergs out and mumbles something under his breath
>Mfw

My fucking sides holy shit.

expected a cuck story, to be honest family

My God-Emprah, marry that one. She's a keeper.

I'll take "Things that never happened" for 500, Alex

The thing is not everyone wants to play just a beer and prezels game. I can understand people wanting a lot of the bullshit trimmed down but the people I'm referring to want 40k to basically copy paste AoS because they want it to be just a simple pick up and play game.

I agree both types of games have their place but there isn't any reason to expect both games to suit you perfectly and demand that one changes when it doesn't.

What should i start after selling my orks?
