Custodes jet bikes Edition Incorrect backpack construction Sub-edition
The last thread seemed to be all about custodes and mechanicum, some nice Sons of Horus were posted, some guy smashed Curze, Finnish DG user continues to outshine us all, loyalist Word Bearers were discussed yet again and some guy tired to sell some books, more here >READ MOTHERFUCKER READ pastebin.com/iUqNrrA8

Kinda regretting starting Custodes after seeing the jetbike pricing and that there's no posability in them.
I mean, £180 for two min units? Fuck.
I mean fuck, how viable is just running footslog and dread spam?
Ethan Price
It's a shame the new jetbikes look like ass. The rest of the Custodes line is amazing, but they look just so boring and static, not to mention their monopose... Here's to hoping some 3rd party will give something that's closer to the old illustration.
Camden Rivera
According to the icon guide for the new Malinax transfer sheet, Scoria has his own Taghmata. Now I need to have just those symbols on his personal escort and Abeyant, I suppose. What's the preferred robros for him? Was thinking either two Wrecker Castellax to smash through those 2W units he has trouble with or some Vorax so I can Outflank if needed and to be speedier.
Pretty viable, given the tournament stomp they've managed without them. You can all Deep Strike, you'll be fine.
Tyler Williams
Yeah I'm kinda wondering if there's a good way to convert better looking, cheaper Custardbikes...
The biggest problem is the legs, honestly. Nowhere to find sitting Custodes legs outside of these bikes.
Levi Carter
Have FW basically stopped making some of the resin Power Armor marks now that GW does them in plastic?
Luis Reed
New TS 2495 list. I took the good old Pride of the legion RoW. This let me cut the fat and both tac squads. I have replaced them with two vet squads. One is geared more at armour to try to balance things a little. The other is full of swords and claws not very TS but will be fun to build. My hope is this list is ok and I can start building!
HQ---------------------------------- Praetor with 3 lvl psy, Force weapon, Bording shield, Plasma Pistol, iron halo.
Osiron Contemptor with Twin linked Lascannon.
Elites--------------------------------
Vet Tac Mech Kill with +5, Legion Vexilla, Bro Psy, 2 Meltagun. Sarge Thunder hammer, Plasma pistol and rhino.
Vet Tac Weaponmasters with +5, Legion Vexilla, Bro Psy, Heavy Flamer, Pair of Claws, 7 power swords Sarge Claw and rhino
Sekhmet Terminator Cabal +2 Terminators, Chainfist and 2 lighting claw
Troops--------------------------------
Breachers with 2 Volkite Chargers, Legion Vexilla
Tac Support +3 with Plasma Guns and Rhino
Heavy--------------------------------- Heavy Suppot Squad +4 with Autocannons.
Fire Raptor with Autocannon battery
James Bennett
All the Legion armour sets from MK2 to MK6 are still available.
Ayden Gonzalez
There isn't much more to say since you are taking things because you like them rather than because they are good, not that this is an insult. Assuming a casual setting you should do fine. I would swap the TL-lascannon for a kheres and swap the heavy squads autocannons for missile launchers but other than that nothing. If some guy comes along with some serious tanks, think an AV13 wall or more than two land raiders, then you might be in trouble.
Cooper James
Okay, let's tackle this.
Skyweavers might make a good starting point for a Custodes Bike conversion, I think? Longer than other jetbikes and designed for two riders.
The problems are thus:
-Imperialing it up -Attaching a custodian with properly posed legs -Big eagle on the front like concept art?
Lincoln Nelson
Why did you choose your army? Sell me your Legion/Army, /hhg/

Mostly true but other people's comments on my list has got me to remove things and add other things. Problem is I get to emotionally attached to things. Other people saying things helps me evaluate what I want to build and what I could build instead. Being told to remove my tac squads has made me happy.
Still hearing things are fine makes me happy. I know armour is a problem but I guess I will struggle with it.
Eli Parker
can tribunes take shields with spears? I might be getting the 40k rules mixed up but I thought it explicitly said yuo couldnt do that
Colton Baker
Very legal. You just don't get charging bonuses.
Bentley Lopez
You're going to want a bunch of ravenwing parts. Engines from bikes, winged bits to match the Aquila look you're going for.
For the legs... Probably just look into truescale marine methods to extend biker marine legs a bit? Then add the thigh plates from the Custodes legs you aren't using because their upper bodies are on the bikes.
Aiden Edwards
I meant with regards to the objectively bad stuff you like but is cool like the breachers in a none ZM game and the boarding shield on the praetor. It looks like a fun list though, to play and to play against. You considering changing anything further or is this your finished list?
Nolan Watson
>where can we get heavily armoured, oversized legs in a sitting/riding position There is one possibility, but you're not going to like it...
Wyatt Lewis
Blood and Skulls Industry.
Gabriel Robinson
Nice! Shame I mostly play in a GW.
Sorta works, I think that would take a lot of conversion work and leave me with a bunch of riderless demigryphs for a game I don't play though.
Landon Thomas
Well it are the exact same models, I don't see the issue
Connor Green
With Arvus out of order for a moment, what would be some suitable replacement/count-as model?
Ryan Clark
...
Liam Bennett

Brody Sanders
>it's totally stable on its flight stand I mathematically worked out the weight distribution so I'm getting fed up with people making stupid comments that it's going to fall over and crush my army so just stop making these sort of comments because the model is completely stable okay
Carson Russell
Custodes sitting legs:
Remove biker leg below knee.
Remove Custodes legs above knee.
Combine carefully, use green stuff to fill gap if necessary.
Add thigh plates to biker legs.
Replace rear wheel of bike with some manner of engine, replace entire front of bike past the engine block with front of Eldar jetbike. Undersling a gun, then use either ravenwing parts or Vexilla parts to make the eagle on the bike's nose.
Austin Ward
>See it even has room on top for 12 Hoplites
Ethan Taylor
Ha.
That picture is so telling. Some one was self conscious enough about having to justify not having any resin in their army that they tried to adapt a paintjob meme to comparing finecast to the refreshed MkIII molds. Absolutely pathetic.
Adrian Roberts
>then cry because it looks like shit.
Owen Perry
Hah. I remember that guy. Did look a little precarious, I suspect he hadn't calculated shear forces from Unsupervised Gamestore Kids. This is why the Whalebird will be low to the ground and on two or three stands, and the theoretical Manta may have a lockable platform that can be cranked up and down built into the bottom, even if it's not a beautiful transparent flying stand.
That number annoys me. It's just enough that not filling it feels like a waste but is way too few to justify another Hoplite kit. 10 should do the trick, at least.
Carter Hill
Can't look worse than the official model.
Wyatt Walker
>"Look, I'm not falling for that 'watch out, behind you!' crap again."
Elijah Young
True.
Benjamin Peterson
Unless there are any ideas that grab be this might be done. The Praetor goes with the breachers by the way. They are his huge body guard. It should prove to be quite impressive looking.
Austin Roberts
But the model on the right is metal, so where exactly does the finecrap come in ?
>Also that captain model still is the most glorious example of MK III armour in existence to date. Wrong backpack but still
Daniel Miller
>absolute proof that people will buy anything FW puts out
Kevin Rogers
ooor a bunch of potential mounts for counts as thunderwolves
Adam Young
I unfortunately have no way of seeing themirl and don't really trust shitty photos, do you think GW's plastic mk3 are noticeably worse then FW's? Which would you advise (without taking in account how pleb it is to have plastic in a hh army)
Ryan Hughes
Do you guys ever use 40k Marines in "relic" armour, or parts from them, for your 30k stuff?
Like the captain in OPs image.
Jonathan Thomas
>themirl What is this?
>do you think GW's plastic mk3 are noticeably worse then FW's? Nah, I own both and the plastic MK3 is good, I prefer the whole kit except for the head (no sunken eyes and lack of bulk on the face plate) and backpack (big ass join line on the vents)
>taking in account how pleb it is to have plastic in a hh army plastic HH armies aren't pleb as long as you are using era appropriate armour, and no your repurposed 40k Imperial Fist tac squads don't count
Levi Bell
>how pleb it is to have plastic in a hh army Friendly reminder that Alan Bligh uses GW plastics in his mechanicum army.
Josiah Adams
To be fair to the dude, as anyone who works with metal basing, tank traps or scaffolding will know, if he work it out, that think will be stupidly hard to knock over accidentally. But at that point it's so heavy I wouldn't want to put it on a game table for fear of the base flattening some ground texture.
Won't stop some kid in the store trying to wobble it or whatever.
Stupid idea all round.
Xavier Ross
What did I miss? Was someone using an xbox as a thunderhawk or something?
Samuel Miller
I would be careful saying stuff like "Plastic pleb" around here. There is a huge culture of people dismissing / shitting on / complaining about the most asinine things regarding FW's products:
>I don't like how they look anyway!!! >They R Overpowers! >Resin is hard~~ >FW send you broken stuff... I heard.. Once..
It is pretty much the tone of a lot of off-hand comments, and it's to make people feel better about the fact that they either cannot afford it, don't want to save up a little more then they already have, or know there is no point ruining stunning models with their god awful painting so just strip and respray their MkVII tactical marines for the third time. You will be absolutely pounded upon by VERY hysterical and reactionary people for pointing this out and denying them their usual rationalizations. We all know the vast majority of Forgeworld's product line is absolutely stellar and looks a billion times better if modeled, posed and customized in very minor ways than if someone chopped up a Ravenwing bike and glued a custodian ontop of it "Wah-lah".
In answer to your question, plastic is alright for what it is, and is generally better if kitbashed responsibly with resin. MkIII is, generally speaking, the best thing they have put out in plastic as the MkIV just looks like tactical marines from 40K. The biggest issue is they are fairly monopose and the seam along the top of the backpack is glaring, but can be fixed with confident / competent greenstuff / liquid greenstuff work.
As for advice.... If you were running only plastic MkIII in tacticals and all the rest of your army was brilliant conversions or just stock resin or good kitbashing (Resin Vehicles excluding Rhinos), then sure, go for it, no one would have any problem, especially if taking 20 man tacticals. FW is the way to go if you can do it though.
(See pic related, you can include plastic and make it look good, it is possible if done in moderation and with care)
Kevin Perez
No, but i DID once use a hasty spray painted cardboard box, and my erect penis as a make-do venator
Bentley Roberts
What is that flyer on the right?
Ethan Scott
Plastic is alright, the main problem is the static legs
Hudson Williams
Bligh Grenade is pretty based.
Jackson Cook
Is there a pdf for book 7 inferno? or the Custodes/Sisters 30k list?
Jack Martin
>thunder warriors driving themselves off a cliff
Mason Walker
Well you could squeeze another pose out of the jetbike arm by replacing it with a custode spear arm like the Shield Captain has so it is upright....then slap a pennant on it
Leo Lee
Can blackshield marauders mix regular bolters and pariah bolters or must every bolter be a pariah bolter if you want to use them?
Carson Powell
read the fucking OP you retarded bastard, that stuff isn't there for fun
Brayden Bennett
holy fuck FW Mk3's are shit always have been....they put the moldline smack dab in the back where the segmented armor is.
Bentley Wright
I did shitbird....I see nothing for book 7
Angel Jackson
then you are blind as fuck because I've just checked and it's there, no I won't show you because it's your punishment for being retarded.
Nothing says that you can't, I checked the marauders section and the pariah section and there is nothing to the effect of 'all models must replace blah blah blah'.

>mediafire.com/file/de3l5i29kn69n73/The Horus Heresy Book 7 - Inferno.pdf Thank you...you are pure class. To the shitbird...now my retarded ass has it where is that link? In the books first link has up to book 6 the second and third are the red books and the fourth White Dwarfs and comics books?
Carson Flores
EHLP
Almost finished with muh story, on an Astartes battle-barge what is the title for the most senior mortal crewman that directs the ship? Isn't the Chapter Master the Captain?
Just wondering, I've never really played HH but what are Blackshield Marauders? They sound badass
Jose Wright
np retard :)
Aaron Clark
Derrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Derrrrrrrrrrrrr
Gavin White
Shipmaster/Shipmistress
Thomas Lopez
Marines who have left their legion and now fight as a separate warband. They can be either loyal, chaos/traitor or neutral. There are two big warbands mentioned so far, the Dark Brotherhood (pirate loyalists commanded by the scariest guy after Curze) and the Ashen Claws (angry Terran Raven Guard who buttraped the surviving Night Lords in the Nostromo sector).
Parker Bennett
What kind of insult is "shitbird". You're just joining random words, you pisstits
Evan Gonzalez
hey shut up cockdog
Aaron Carter
>Dark Brotherhood (pirate loyalists commanded by the scariest guy after Curze) Are they the kind of Astartes the Imperium deserves but not the ones it needs right now?
Leo Butler
Hey Nippledicks check out mu Custode
Gavin Nguyen
Says a penguinbutt
Luke Edwards
Now why the fuck would that post sideways....even my phone is retarded
Lucas Rivera
That sounds really cool, there aren't any official models right? I'm guessing you'd just take any model
John Moore
>1.8Mb sideways of a single model Try again, tortoisedick
Elijah Martinez
Nice digits....lets see if my phone is still retarded
Jose Wood
Yup still tarded
Luis Ramirez
Don't know what to tell ya hold your monitor sideways
Dominic Rodriguez
Nephilim jetfighter, from the gw da range.
Samuel Reed
You said you had 10 free points before, you may as well buy arcane litanies for your praetor if you plan to do any casting with him. If he dies to a freak accident your army is totally fucked.
Charles Wright
Dumb phoneposter newfag.
Paintjob is also kinda messy but ok.
Grayson Jones
You have never, EVER handled unpainted MkIII. That is simply not how those molds work.
Leo Cooper
Finished my autocannon marines. I have now painted all the power armoured marines from two BoP sets (I didn't buy custodes, or special characters).
Christopher Hernandez
I thought I removed that mould line...
Liam Young
>no "what have you done today"
I finished off some more old school model/art inspired DG. Than ran out of bits. Again.
Jaxon Lee
Wait. And you didn't use MkIII backpacks?
5/10 you put in a bit of work but lacked vision.
Cameron Fisher
>you didn't use MkIII backpacks
Why should I?
Robert Ross
Beautiful. So much more lists should be cool stuff instead of optimizing and mathhammering every single point. Have a nice day, user. Make them power pickelhaubes :^) I remember a Necron Lord killing a Carnifex with his choppy hat. It was funny.
Carson Moore
Because it's all about profile. If you look at a lot of the older HH art, before the marks were properly formalized and published, It all boiled down to weird variations on what looks like MKIII or versions of MKVI.
All the other backpacks look like 40k tactical marine backpacks and you don't get that Horus heresy era silhouette. The helmets on yours mitigate that a little. I think for what you really wanted to do, MKV legs, Mk4 torsos, MKII helmets, MkIII backpacks and shoulders with gloved hands, umbra and phobos bolters and bits shoved on.
Caleb Brooks
I wish you'd used mk5-style torsos instead of the mk4 ones, since the chunkier cables are sexy.
Theses guys gonna be vets?
Aaron Cook
Is it black, or really dark dark steel?
Joshua Bennett
>All the other backpacks look like 40k tactical marine backpacks and you don't get that Horus heresy era silhouette
By that logic vast quantities of HH art and models are invalid.
>I think for what you really wanted to do
I posted exactly what I wanted to do. MkIV (with MkVI style greaves and MkII style vambraces, as was the style at the time) with MkIII helmets. MkII helmets will go on MkIII bodies. MkV will follow old sketches that the Khorne Berserkers were based on.
Colton Ward
Its okay mate, it's alright.
John Lee
>mk5-style torsos
Don't want them to get mixed with MkVs and I like the plate that comes over the abdomen.
>Theses guys gonna be vets?
One of the tactical blobs.
Juan Jackson
If on iOS crop a hair off the image to fix rotation
Adrian Howard
I'm going to keep thinking about the idea of custom Custodes bikes from GW parts, but I'm definitely struggling on the front of the bike. As much as I was looking at various Eldar bikes for length, none of them have enough of a snub-nosed intake vent deal going on.
Adrian Murphy
>What is this? Them in real life Thank you, i was just wondering if fw stuff was so overwhelmingly better detailed, but thank you for the in depth answers anyway.(also i was just memeing about the plastic pleb thing, i personally am among the people who prefer plastic stuff and think fw is slightly overpriced, especially if you consider how easy it is to find second hand gw stuff)
Jacob Scott
So no mixing bolters for marauders? Or does this only affect stuff from the legion army list?
Chase Murphy
Are you gonna get some Power Scythes for you dudes?
