If you, yes you, right now...

If you, yes you, right now, posted a thread on Veeky Forums about Star Trek the TV show that doesn't mention games at all, would it be off topic or would it be on topic? It cannot be both at the same time, you have to give a straight answer.

I've been here for eight years, "lurk more" does not work.

lurk moar

read the sticky

a thread died for this

Everything is Veeky Forums related in theory, but you have to frame it correctly so it at least loosely pertains to the context of a tabletop game.

>I've been here for eight years
You should know by now.

I did. For eight years. That will never help because the empirical evidence is logically contradictory. Star Trek the TV show is on topic one minute and off topic the next minute.
I did. The sticky does not begin to explain what I want to know. I need further clarification of the rules.
That was 40K general and it was at bump limit. You don't complain when a thread died for "elf slave wat do" threads.

Which words in this OP indicate that it is framed in the context of a traditional game?

Just post something star something trek something tabletop, then proceed to derail the thread into any direction you want. Keeping up appearances and all that, it's not that difficult.

I don't care whether the ruling goes one way or the other, I just want some fucking consistency in the enforcement of the "off topic" rule.

Autism speaks.

Are you me?

...

I've been here longer. lurk more you autist.

>If you, yes you, right now, posted a thread on Veeky Forums about Star Trek the TV show that doesn't mention games at all, would it be off topic or would it be on topic?
Yes.
No.
Maybe.
All of the above.

Pic related. If you aren't an obnoxious faggot about things you like, you are welcome here regardless of the topic.
Provided it's work-safe, of course. That one is actually a rule. Well, mostly. Kinda.

I miss having quest threads on this board, but as long as everythinganon is willing to keep catching bans and making screencaps, I guess it's not a total loss. Quest threads were definitely more entertaining and engaging, but OP's unstoppable autism has its own subtle charm.

I only wish he hadn't waited this long to go full retard.

...

Git gud. Nor every rule, situation, or social context is going to be spelled out in the manual. Also, meta thread cancer.

CLEARLY off topic.
I'm especially pissed off when /pol/ autists drag their /pol/ crap here, and at the end of the post they write "btw, this is my idea for a new campaign". What kind of dickshittery is that?

I've already explained at length why that can't work. Star Trek the TV show is on topic one minute and off topic the next minute.

The reason for my ban was "off topic", not "being an obnoxious faggot", that's what it says. Evidently some topics are not allowed.

I was doing this long before quest threads were banned, newfag.

There's no harm in just telling me what you think the rule is, unless you're afraid of being proven wrong.

If you posted "Star Trek the original series general" here on Veeky Forums, it would get shitcanned. Because there is another forum for that, /TV/.
If you posted the cover of the old FASA game and said "hey all, I'm trying to run a campaign of pic related based heavily on the original series, which my players have never seen. What are your favorite episodes that would make good sessions?"

That might fly.

Of course, it would then be a thread about the FASA role-playing game system... Not really the TV show. And we would be free to diverge from your topic... Probably into philosophical morality of Janeway or something.

>I was doing this long before quest threads were banned, newfag.
I've been on Veeky Forums pretty much every day since 2007 and I've only noticed these in the past few months.

Let's see some archived proof of your weaponized autism, OP.

You mean just like these threads which were never deleted? Show me where in the written words of the OP they mention a traditional game.

I meant making your own threads. Just making a single butthurt post in a preexisting thread isn't going to do anything for me. I need to see you in the catalog.

Is OP's fixation with Star Trek due to his autism, or is the Trek-heavy focus of these threads just an unrelated aspect?

I've noticed that most of his setup threads (the ones he makes to "test" the board rules) are Trek-related.

>I've been here for eight years, "lurk more" does not work.
That's because you're doing it wrong. You're supposed to lurk moar.

What difference does it make? I was telling people their threads were off topic before quests were banned, therefore I could not have beeen telling them their threads were off topic BECAUSE quests were banned, as evidenced by the fact that quests were not banned at the time.
I started making threads to ask what is off topic and what is on topic after that, because if you can't beat 'em you join 'em, except I'm apparently not allowed to join 'em either. I would have given up on complaining about off topic threads a lot sooner if someone just told me what I want to know.
I never cared about quests one way or the other.

>expecting the mods to ever (ever) remain consistent
As far as I know they just shut down discussions they get enough complaints about or that particularly bother them.

Oh wow, look at this!

Well, number one was about the thought processes of a race playable in an RPG, and number two w-

Wait a minute: you're the guy who just reposted the bajor helmet thing and got banned!

Of course I am. If the Bajor helmet thread was not off topic the first time, then it CANNOT be off topic later, because it is the SAME image and the SAME text, and the rules have not changed.
The longer I "lurk moar", the more logical contradictions I see, so I understand less and less.

Number one, that's clearly a prototype because you just used a picture of a Boys Club character instead of your split-level screencaps.

Number two, that thread was clearly deleted within three minutes of being created, so I can't be faulted for missing it.

Was that goalpost heavy? I don't care about quests, believe it or not, I'm done with you.

Okay, you can fuck off now.

The janitors are humans, they will enforce the rules to their tastes. There will be a varying degree of genre fiction allowed. To be more sure of your ability to discuss shit that isn't explicitly a game, ask about the games of it and/or make it a cheesecake thread. Carrots get purged, tits get upvotes.

>but it's not the EXACT SAME screencap so you just want quests back!!

Go whine in /qa/. I'm sure they will help you.

user, is this really how you talk to your fans?

Extract from manifesto that dates back to 2007, possibly earlier. Should clarify your confusion.

>2007, possibly earlier
If only we knew when Veeky Forums was created.

Yeah, I remember you because I saw the first thread, then missed the 2nd thread, but definitely saw you bitching about getting banned.

Listen, as someone who has been banned for spamming on boards I never go to (ISP bans), banned for NSFW content (fully clothed woman), banned for colorful horses (pre containment board, also, not *those* horses)... Just accept the slight and move on with your life.
The moderation here is neither a single individual nor incapable of changing their minds. What Alice ignores, Carol and Bob might smash. Just gracefully accept when the rules are enforced.
