Who is your favourite MTG artist?

Personally I really appreciate the style of Paolo Parente(pic related)

Kev Walker

rk Post

John Avon.

RKF is also great.

My dear friends in this thread

Nils Hamm, probably.
But I'm not very well read on mtg art.

RKF and Kev Walker will forever be my two favorites. The art on Desertion is something special.

Seb McKinnon is definitely getting up there as a favorite of the new batch of artists.

god i love the baleful strix art. and it goes so well with the multicolored artifact frame.

Hoover

Maddocks and Guay come close.

A the top of my head, Seb McKinnon.

literally never noticed there was something riding the horse, always thought that was a wing

I also like Quinton Hoover. Miss his art. Of currently active artists, D. Alexander Gregory.

>D. Alexander Gregory.

I hate his M12 Chandra.

I am here to proselytize on behalf of the Church of Chippy

Raymond Swanland I think his art makes it really easy to envision what the spell would really look like when cast and he makes it look badass.

Rebecca Guay gets flak but she's alright in my book.

Fuck Raymond "Same filter for every damn card" Swanland and all the other digital artists out there. Shout out to the guy who made Aligned Hedron Network that was just pure trash.

DYNAMIC LIGHTING

We've made it almost 20 replies and no Terese Nielsen? Veeky Forums you're better than this.

Ye boi

The only one that has protection from Persecute Artist

Too predictable.

+1

What is that card called again Descendant something?

Rebecca Guay is Waifu-Grade Art you could take home to mom

>hurr woman fired muh patriarchy

This was before Tumblr even.

good picks itt
my fave that hasn't been mentioned yet is jesper

Harold McNeill

Also my favorite VtES artist

weird, reminds of Richard Kane Ferguson

>Rebecca Guay gets flak
wat

Trips for truth

I hope he gets more work, I panicked a bit after he had no new pieces in Aether Revolt and Modern Masters 3

Glad to see he's getting a bunch of cards in Amonkhet

I'd rank Rebecca Guay first, even if I recently discovered an old French-British illustrator who had a very similar style, and I feel like she stole everything from him (Edmond Dulac, pic related).
Then I really like Terese Nielsen, RKF and Harold McNeill the nazi

I miss those "ethereal" illustrations these days and also semi-naked sleeping women

Gone much too soon, user.

F

Phil Foglio is clearly the best.

john avon. probably having a nice name gives him an advantage in being rememberd by me, but i still freaking love his works.

might be mine as well

he's gud

guay

never seen this before. works great in gitfrog edh

Descendant's Path

it's pretty good, too

All the classics. Mark Tedin, Ron Spencer, Rebecca Guay, Anson Maddocks, Rob Alexander, Quinton Hoover, Melissa Benson, the late Chris Rush... I even came to like weirdos like Drew Tucker.

Out of new ones I mainly like the one that makes really nice looking lands, whatshis name... John Avon?

Foglio is actually super good, when the card concept suits him. Like there.

Terese Nielsen, Rebecca Guay, Seb McKinnon.

Christopher Moeller and Heather Hudson also have some neat art.

Flavor text and cool card art is what actually got me into MTG in the first place.

Mark Tedin. Time Vault is one of my favorite pieces.

This guy gets it.

...

I think mark rosewater has the best art on any mtg card

10/10 artist
10/10 taste

I hadn't noticed how cool this art was until now.

God bless you Seb, you are a ray of hope in an era of digital barf.

Drew Tucker's probably my favorite, with Anson Maddocks and Quinton Hoover tied for a close second. Also love Kev Walker, Rebecca Guay, Terese Nielsen, and Dave Kendall. Honorable mention goes to Nils Hamm, Chippy, RK Post, and Brom. Fuck me man, this game's had a lot of good artists.

Howard Lyon painting the new Nissa

youtu.be/UjvO4r2SdZA

is rebecca guay a furry?

I mean, the card is called "Pale RIDER," so...

Terese nielsen trumps everyone

Someone said BROM?

Beside the classics, like Guay, Avon and Nielsen, I like Peter Mohrbacher a lot

Good stuff. Has sort of a storybook feel to it, like young adult fantasy (in a good way).

Always been a fan of Adam Rex, especially his Lorwyn stuff (which sadly was only a few cards)

No no no, fucking hate Foglio's abortions

Drew Tucker by far

I really like RKF. I'm sad that I ran into him at a GP and didn't have anything to get signed because I was relatively new to the game.

Even though he was only around for Lorwyn/Shadowmoor, his art is some of my favourite, especially the lands.

This.
So many classics.

I always loved the text on this one.
>Goblin War Buggy is unaffected by summoning sickness.
Something about the pre-keyword haste makes it sound so much better when read. Also, that look is priceless. He just knows he could drive his fat ass over to you and stick that broken lance up yours before you even have time to cast a terror. Honk honk motherfucker.

I was a believer the second I first saw this island.

my nigga

This, especially the second spoiler. This is my jam and this is why Guay shit is my favorite shit.

I have never seen the full blown up art of that.

Fuck thats awesome.

one of the best magic art threads in recent memory. good job everyone

I want a 1 foot Sundering Titan as a pet!

Chandra Thunderthighs has got to be the homliest version ever created.

>tfw guay playmats cost insane money

titan would make a dope figurine

Seb is single-handedly saving magic art.

That said, he isn't my favorite, but I wouldn't be able to choose between Guay, Nielsen, Hoover, and rk post.

>mfw I found out Foglio did porn
>mfw it is not that bad

TONY
DITERLIZZI

Volkan Baga
Magali Villeneuve
Terese Nielsen
Seb McKinnon
Nils Hamm

I'm looking for a card by Foglio, although I forgot its name. Pictured was some kind of monster gathering. It's a rather old card, at least fifteen years old. Anyone have an idea what card I'm referring to?

Him and his wife collaborate on it IIRC

This maybe?

Unfortunately not but thanks for checking.

Well the guy only did 47 cards.

If it exists it is here somewhere: gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&artist= ["Phil Foglio"]

This only shows two cards, am I doing something wrong?

Probably, yes. But I have no idea what you did.

It breaks my heart that Tilling treefolk is just strickly better cartographer so I cannot play cartographer with good deckbuilders conscious.

he probably used a friend for reference and his friend isn't that good looking.

No love for Scott M Fischer?
