Get those dice in your picture.

...

They're gorgeous but super expensive

If I had access to those 3D models I could get them made elsewhere but the markup's killing me.

>Looking for cool, unusual dice to get my DM as a thank you gift for consistently running a game for year and a half,
>thank you gift for running a game for a year and a half
>year and a half
>thank you

Mother fucker.......I've been forever dm for over 10 years for my players, and I've never gotten a "thanks for dm'ing" gift.

I mean we all exchange gifts at Christmas and birthdays usually......but I didn't get shit for always being DM.

A year and a half, and you're looking at gold dice???

My floor just turned to lava.

:3c

Sounds like somebody has unappreciative players

To be fair, I've DM'd a lot too, so I'm particularly aware of how much work my DM puts in.

Everyone dies

I think it's just became an accepted fact of life.

>the sun will rise in the east
>water is wet
>I will dm
We're all old friend so it's no biggy i guess.

I got my DM a nice bottle of liquor after 10 sessions...

Unusual dice are often terrible dice, unfortunately (unless you really want to shell out forl dice made of some exotic material)

That said, if I might suggest an alternative, something like a dice tower, or a dice box.

I was looking at these yesterday.
What do you think guys?
critsuccess.com/index.php/shop/dice-rings.html

Dragon dildos.

These are fun a fidgeting device but are bad as real dice. I had one but I would never imagine actually using it as a die, hard to keep it even when trying to show people your roll. But a fun little thing to fuck with.

good to know

>The number of times you can take a dragon dildo being jammed up your ass before crying Uncle is your roll

www.gamesworthplaying.com/?category=PolyHero

How about this?

artisandice.com/

These are normal looking dice, but made of exotic materials. From amber, wood, titanium to fucking gator jawbone, your choice.

Pic related is amber.

Fuck, they are everything I've ever wanted from my dice.

>Sees price

Guess I'll stick to my plastic bullshit.

It's like someone looked at a d4 and decided to try to make one that's even more like a caltrop. It's even got a convenient hook on the top to secure itself to the bottom of your foot.

Tiny Tokens shapeways.com/shops/tinytokens

Prices are very scalable depending on what material you get. Pic related starts at $20. Just pay attention to whether you're buying balanced or spindown.

Depending on your taste, the PolyHero novelty dice are kinda neat. This is their latest showing, the Wizard set. The Warrior set before it was okay but a bit low quality plastic, and they're planning Rogue and Cleric stuff in the near future.

Game Science or go fuck your mother.

GMs don't want pretty looking dice, they want dice they can fucking read.

>>artisandice.com/
>Using endangered species to make toys.

Better get them now then.

I want one with Magic 8-Ball answers.

...Is that an off-center number on the d12? And you call this balanced dice? Bah.

Don't worry, mate, you've got the standard experience there.

I can smell the plastic, Jesus. Those look awful for so many reasons. I guess we have different tastes.

The chick with the black boyfriend in my party is gonna get OP...

>Ok, you can't get an 87+Dex to stealth

Consider it an investment

You realize that the 2 has much more "weight" than the 1 right? If it was centered the balance would be more off.

It's like I'm really in highschool. What an amazing joke. Those log-dicked niggers, am I right? Why are you letting a girl play in your group anyway shouldn't she be making sandwiches? Ex Dee.

> shouldn't she be making sandwiches?
But she is. The nigga don't mind sharing.

Those look like they would either bend out of shape and become inaccurate really quickly, or scuff up your table, or both.

Hol' up here, how do those even work?

This is probably the dumbest shit I have read all day. That said, who cares if the 12 is off center so long as the dice roll well and can be read easily.

Hey, thanks! This seems like a decent alternative.

I've seen these around and they seem like they'd be fun, and affordable.

They're rotationally symmetrical, so they're balanced despite the unusual shapes.

The shapeways dice section is full of weird dice. They can be on the pricey side though. shapeways.com/marketplace/games/dice/

The autists who buy Game Science dice care.

>I've been forever dm for over 10 years for my players, and I've never gotten a "thanks for dm'ing" gift.
I've never even gotten a "thanks for dming".

These are good for GM when he wants to roll secretly. You play with the thing during the session, turn slowly without making any sound, not to distract anyone, and when you need to roll, just look at the current number. It's especially good for people that have ADHD in fingers and need to constantly touch something.

For me, a win/win.

>Violet Storm
>With Lightning
MADE WITH REAL LIGHTNING

That's kind of a neat idea, actually. The numbers aren't raised, are they?

Don't get your DM metal or casino dice unless they have a metal/felt-topped table to roll them on. (Dice towers also work!) otherwise they would only serve as ornamental unless your DM wants a fucked-up table.

Ask your DM if there are any rulebooks or supplements they are looking at.

Yes, numbers are randomized, so you can't predict the value without checking from time to time or knowing the pattern very well and constantly thinking about it (which is impossible when GM'ing).

>the numbers are randomized
I asked if they were raised, not randomized. Obviously they'd be randomized, but can you tell what number your finger is resting on when you feel the ring, even if you're not looking?

Same, although in my case one of the players is my dad so I am pretty sure he doesn't owe me anything.... more the other way 'round....

But my other groups, I've run campaigns lasting well over a year and didn't get shit. In fact I get them presents, normally minis because I enjoy spending money on D&D miniatures.

That said, OP's post is a good reminder that I should get my DM something as thanks since he ran a campaign for something like 3 years and even after his free time disappeared he runs it once a month as we limp toward a conclusion.

You can't feel anything, it's flat. At least mine is flat, because I saw some types on the web that were engraved.

It's for the same kind off aesthetic reasons as using exotic materials, only the pointless yet appealing bit of fanciness is the imagined accuracy.

>Using extinct species to make toys

artisandice.com/order/mammoth-ivory/

>PolyHero novelty dice
literally what is endangered that they are making dice out of
mammoth are extinct
gators are vermin in many parts of the world
bison are farm raised across the US.

I fucked up didn't mean to clt-v the poly hero

i meant the artisandice

The trees. Illegal logging and wood smuggling are real things.

I got gifts for my players over Christmas but they didn't get me anything.

Where in the fuck do you even get mammoth ivory? Cheapest I've found a tusk for is 500 grand.

It wasn't funny at all, I agree, but you are an incredible bitch

You don't need a whole tusk for a set of dice.

Who the fuck is the guy that he can sell mammoth bones out of the back of his truck? And how did he acquire these specimens?

Is this the painful dice thread?

...

I have the warrior set around here. I liked how the die types for the D4-D8 corresponded with the weapon the die was formed in the likeness of. Its neat to have on a shelf, never tried to actually roll them.

The permafrost in northern areas has started to melt because of climate change. There are huge expanses of land that are starting to release ice age specimens. Just take a truck or helicopter and head out into Siberia.

Alaska

They wash out of the sides of rivers in remote areas

...

Just imagine stepping on those dice in the picture.

AFAIK mammoth ivory is legal in Siberia and Alaska (where the stuff comes from) and Washington (where the store is).

Even if it was illegal, loopholes are all over the place.

And to think I was just considering tungsten dice.

Which trees?

As a long time DM I would be overjoyed to receive dragon dildoes

Assuming those enough roll fairly, they will /very/ quickly deform enough to be weighted.

Get him one of these.

>Dice made from fucking extinct wooly mammoth tusks
>Over 2000 dollars

I mean it's not immoral because it's already extict. I want those fucking dice, it's just so occult.

>that centered 13 on the d20 in the same picture
The 3 has much more "weight" than the 1, reeee imba

Should've been enriched uranium. Would give a whole new meaning to exploding dice pools.
and cancerous mechanics

You're probably a shit DM

Speaking of dice, anyone know where I can get a XBOX HUEG d20? I mean something so hideously big its unusable? It's for my friend, I owe him a gag gift

Just buy him a ball gag, not only is it a pun it's easier to obtain and has a use

Made me laugh.
Only good if he was specifically asked for a "gag gift," though.

Depends on whose lists your going by
Avodire, Brown Ebony, Bubinga, East Indian Rosewood, Honduran Mahogany, Imbuia, Cocobolo, African Mahogany, Moabi, Makore, Lignum Vitae, Honduran Rosewood, Macassar Ebony, Peruvian Walnut, Kingwood, Desert Ironwood, Bois de Rose, and African Blackwood.

Bois de Rose, Desert Ironwood, Honduran Mahogany, Honduran Rosewood and Lignum Vitae all sound pretty good. I'd like stuff made out of those woods.

Both kek'd and check'd, sir.

I have the red warrior set as well and have used them. They work quite well, actually. Fiancee had me preorder her the pink wizard set and I plan to get the cleric and rogue sets as well.

Thanks for reminding me I have to track down that d20 cup.

Q-workshop makes cool dice sets for rpgs. you can find their stuff on amazon.

If you're looking for fancy dice, you probably want to look at dieharddice.com. One day they'll have more dice in stock, and if you're lucky you'll spot it before they're out of stock again three days later.

They also sell rolling mats to protect your gaming table.

I did manage once to get an order in before they ran out, nice glossy black ones with light blue numbers, easy to read, feel very solid when rolling, and look like they're made of polished black glass.

Pic related - the newest set that was out of stock before I could finish loading the darn page.

>Much like carnivorous cows, these gators are raised for meat and leather. If you haven’t tried it, fried alligator tail is really delicious
Your argument is invalidated by their 10/10 tase.
Bison burgers are also exquisite, and I bet mammoth was tasty.

Oh hey, I have one of those. I wear it pretty much daily and it's barely worn: company does free replacements if it gets scratched/broken/etc. 10/10 would recommend.

oh whoops, forgot to mention, like said it's pretty bad at actually rolling, unless it's recently been washed.

It's not illegal anywhere but commiefornia and jew york.
I'm a seasonal fisherman and we have found a couple fossils and remains at the Aleutian Islands.
We once got a giant bison skull with it's horns intact and sold it to a Vegas collector for enough to crew the boat three seasons straight.

>tfw poor and had to pool money with friends to buy a big bag of dice cheap enough for everyone

I got myself some not so fancy metal d20's some time ago. I cannot recommend metal dice at all. They feel nice and heavy but As i like using a dice cup for rolling as Dm (no screen) it causes the dice to hit the table pretty hard, leaving dents and marks in the table and papers. Now imagine some with nice pointy bits and it won't take long until character sheets and wooden surfaces are totally fucked

Titanium is 10/10, it feels heavy in your hand, but it really isn't.

These look really, really nice. I'll probably get a set of these if they ever get back into stock. And I see them in stock.

Anyone ever tried carving/scultping you own dice out of wood ?
I took a look at it and honestly the only things that seem hard are carving the numbers and the d20
Ideas/Suggestions ?

nvm found this.
Will try it once I can get my hands on a small enough hand saw
