I had a similar idea but I'm not sure if it would be Mary Sue.

A Black Shield Deathwatch member who is on permanent leave with the Inquisition to work as an Inquisitor. I'd envision him as not being in power armor or working in the front lines most of the time and be sort of a large cigar chomping burly old man who is respected as one of the oldest and most knowledgeable inquisitors on the Xenos.

Wouldn't be too Mary Sue - Inquisitors are, without exception, extra-ordinary individuals.

Recruiting a space marine as your understudy and later as an inquisitor would be seriously out there, but the Inquisition is made of exceptions

I think that'd be a cool character

Especially if he went without armor. I feel that would tone him down enough and also be a cool break from tradition. Maybe he used to be a scout or now he just uses he black carapace for other things, like sensor-plugins.

You'd have to make him REAL cigar-chompy though.

Lots of pretty bro-tier Watch members. Would've expected more "love killing xenos" and less "love my battle bros and humanity".

Maybe camaraderie-valuing people are attracted to the hands-across-Chapters vibe of the Deathwatch.

real nice contribution bucko :^)

I'd think it'd be interesting if he was one of the less gun-happy inquisitors, like Amberly Vail, and who has a real knack for the skulking, information and discovering-a-cult parts of the job...

... but who every so often has to get his armour out, dust off the combi-bolter, recruit the nearest squad of marines (ideally deathwatch, but you take what you're given) and waste some xenos assholes

People who regularly play Deathwatch know how to do a lot more with it and make it a lot more interesting than just "kill everything," which is what people seem to expect it to be.

Armed with a Storm Shield and Meteor Hammer, basically a walking tank. I have my own headcanon about the Sons of Antaeus having their culture of never falling back nor falling at all, with their super skeleton and all that actually solidifying when they die, making them super rigid, basically statues. Hence, their greatest heroes all died standing, representing the eternal vigil that they hold where I put their Homeworld in bumfuck nowhere on the edge of the galaxy.

Was already here when the 3 others arrived. He was one of the few that managed to escape the extermination of his chapter by the GK, and seeked refuge at the Watch Station, as a Blackshield. The watchmaster accepted, bzing a SM himself and never spitting on another recruit. His status as a librarian gives him an alibi for the constant flames that consume his body, but the other marines outside of the Kill Team are all wary of him nonetheless. Was reluctant to work with others at first but when he realised they were all from the Cursed Founding and a few missions under their belt, he explained everything to the others. Fight with Pyromancy (being wreathed in flames 24/7), power staff and plasma pistol.

I have this little story where they basically all went to the Deathwatch several times.
1st time they were all vanilla marines except the Librarian. Then they got back to their respective chapters, trained as specialists, and went back to the DW to serve again with their newfound brothers.
As of now, they feel as close to the Kill Team as to their Chapter, and readily call each other Brothers, and not Cousin as is it is customary in the Deathwatch.

Anyhoo, just my little Kill Team. I really want to make them into actual models someday.

In retrospect ol Ferrus comes across as a bit of an edge lord. Then again I think that might be just a side effect of being a loyalist member of a fallen legion displaced in time.

Accompanied terminator squad and others raiding a tyranid infected space hulk to keep it from infecting a near baal system. Held my own against a pack of genestealers while scouting alone. That and superb flying while scouting and establishing paths for the rest of the team to quickly reach objectives.

More recently, helped destroy a heretic dreadnaught. I drove a chainsword so far through it's back armor, I then pulled the plate back while a member of my kill team threw a grenade inside, disabling the traitor and causing his core to overload and explode.

Death watch has awarded me the crux terminatus for pushing both the tau and traitor legions off a planet in recent months.

I had a bro down with an ultrasmurf apothecary, and a space wolf where we talked about how we ultimately don't trust the inquisiton and I forget the plot points about it right now.

Despite wearing a crux, he still prefers his mk vi armor he brought from the chapter and assault pack when possible.

Spoilers: Gotta go fast, and he's terrified his armor is going to cause early onset black rage because it is a rare heresey era mk vi infected by heresey era relic thunder hammer. During battle if he doesn't keep shit in check he starts reliving similar battles either his suit or that hammer had been in.

I rolled ridiculous on the armor table and got +10 str on my armor, and blood of those before... Or whatever that one was that gives you +combat skills for corruption... And then my dm doubled its effect after he let me use this thunder hammer oncs. And remember mk vi also has +agil. I think I had 58 str and 60agil before my armor. Had a fight where a terminator crushed the corridor in a space station and cut the kill team in half. I rolled a feat of strength and bent it back into shape and made enough room for kill team zort him with Las cannon and then for the space wolf to splat him.

Oh and the dm said I could make up a rank ten sheet and if I ever want to Black rage/last stand I can use it.

Tor Klaasson
Space Wolves 7th Great Company
Blood Claws Sergeant
I have many Xenos to my name, but the ones that got me here were the Eldar on Bergel, far across the Ginnugagap along the spinward border of the Eye of Terror. Word had it that the Eldar tended to gather at a place deep in a mountain range of the southern hemisphere's 3rd continent, Vanland. Kenning was that the Xenos stopped by roughly every 33rd Terran year, plus or minus a few days. Storm priests said it was when the Eye casted it's gaze elsewhere and witches of the Eldar could come close enough without being seen by their foul gods. Our captain dispatched Garth, as the commander of our war party to hit them this time. We sat in orbit as scouts fed us data on the happenings on the ground. After the Eldar first appeared, our commander decided to wait until their magics were spent, and their full host had exited the warp before we would engage with a orbital drop into the heart of their formation. Well, it seems as if the host was a bit larger then he guessed. In the heart of the battle I killed many, but lost most of my pack. Rather then return to the scouts to train new blood, or be folded into another more experienced pack and have to re-earn my command, I took up our Captain's offer to take the black, and swear to the Deathwatch for a tour.
As far as what defines me? A heartbeat. Two to be precise. As long as they both beat, singularly or in tandem, my blade is his. With it I will rend his enemies, burn their halls, take their women, and drink to their destruction until the void resounds only with the tales of it's true lords. Humanity.

The problem is he thinks marines get retired. Even the ones who are dead get told to get back in the fight at times

>274 years
>Dante has been leading the Blood Angles for 1,100 years

Marines are really fucking healthy. Even when they are 700 years old they are still really strong. Apothecaries only really fix genetic issues, salvage geneseed, make poisons/antidotes, and shoot fallen marines in the head when too wounded to get back up if not important enough to be put in a dreadnought.

yeah. marine physiology is so tough that they need to be put down when the problem can't be fixed as they just won't die from the injury itself apparently.

He is a human/imperial guard that was so bad assed (for a human) that he was honorarily inducted into a chapter. He is retired from the ig, not the chapter.

He is only competetive through augments and youth treatments.

Bragging about his age and all he has to teach marines is laughable though.

Steel Warlords, 3rd Founding Successors of the Iron Hands

>Rank/Specialty
Tactical Marine/Boarding Specialist

>What xenos did you slaughter to get in here?
So many I lost count, but those damnable Tyranids make up most of them.

>What defines you as a warrior of the Emperor?
To be the iron bulwark in a sea of horrors. To aid those who are in need. To strengthen those who seek strength in order to fight for the Emperor. To take on the burden that would crush the innocent. To teach those who want to surpass their limits, as well as to surpass my own at every step.

I am HIS Paragon to pass wisdom to HIS soldiers, HIS Bulwark for the innocent, and HIS Juggernaut that smites his enemies.

I lold.

>I KILLED A SPACE WOLF WHICH IS A BIG CANINE CREATURE FROM SPACE NOT A MEMBER OF THE SPACE WOLVES CHAPTER, BECAUSE THERE ARE NO WOLVES ON FENRIS ANYWAY, WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THAT?

I ALSO KILLED A SALAMANDER, THAT IS A LARGE FIRE BREATHING LIZARD YOU SEE.

Fucking lol

>Brother Matthias
>Salamanders
>Devastator

Honestly, I am not quite sure. Our thunderhawk crashed en route to a distress call on Chloros V, Secmentum Obscurus, I think my sus-an took damage, as I was in and out of consciousness. I do however remember that when I finally regained control, my heavy flamer was a scrap heap and everything around me was ash. And now I'm here...what were we talking about?

Courage, honor, civility, and steadfast loyalty...I think.

So, should we start forming teams now?

>Tankred
>Black Templar
>Castraferrum Pattern Mark V Dreadnought (armed with an Assault Cannon and Power Fist)

>Far to many to count
>Even in death I shall serve.
Besides, I cannot let that damm Gramps get the last word.

Cannot be bothered right now, so I am leaving this here.

>implying I'm not phoneposting from their pen while the kids sleep in my lap
I came here for Oinor, didn't find Temur until I'd thumbtyped Nayhúte up
>Cyril
>Ice Wraiths IVth & Xth Companies
>Tactical Consul-Delegatus
>I joined the Deathwatch after a successful guerilla campaign against the Tau as a Scout Sergeant with the Xth, sabotaging communications and leaving their leaders' mutilated corpses on display before disappearing into the blizzard. While the results spoke for themselves, transferring me from the IVth's ambush specialists to train Scouts had not changed my taciturn and withdrawn nature, and I was sent to join the Deathwatch, persuaded to leave by my newfound taste for the Tau's cobalt blood. After a successful campaign in the Uredius Sector, my killteam were sent to Tiji to combat a stranger xenos foe.
>What defines me? Pfah. Such questions are for the intellectuals of the Librarium. I am a man of three things: stealth, boltguns, and leadership. Direct any further philosophizing to my yeti; he could use a snack. Cyka blyat.
I hold the deeds and wargear of the ancestors dear in my heart. I wear the helmet of Mordicus of the Dea- of the Dusk Raiders Legion, I bear the Photonic Blade and Artificer Regalia of a Praetor of the Blood Angels Legion, and I carry the boltgun of Brother Octavio of the Blood Angels Chapter. So long as I honour the dead, they shall live eternal, and it is my hope that my storm bolter Zatmeniye, and my photon thruster Agaq, will one day be relics of similar prestige.
>rank ten
>make it up
Hahaha
Did you make it? It'd be a shame to give up a character like that, but the mission comes first, and making up the most brokenly OP stuff possible for an Assault sounds entertaining. Going full Death Company in the final moments would be a hell of a send-off, too, fighting as Sanguinius himself.
Amen to that, battle-brother. It's a dumping ground for eccentric badasses.

YOU ARE A BIG LIEGE

THE DEAD MARCH ON THIS DAY.

I've wanted to start a Death Watch list and I'll have to save this thread for character ideas
>Mako
>Carcharodons
>Terminator

>Xenos
Astral Claws
>What defines you as a warrior of the Emperor?
Avenge battle brothers lost during the Badab War with new battle brothers
I'm awful at backstories, bare with me and the dumb odst reference

> odst reference
i deleted it, w/e

I'm disappointed he's not named mary sue

>not Martimaeus Sousbald

Never got around to it, and then I moved away. Really a pity too, i was just getting comfy enough to rp decently with my brothers and not just be a murder hobo.

I was really shocked by the blood angel xp list. Almost everything I bthere is great for being assault.

Other good high lights of that space station mission i commanded:
>about to breach airlock to take a shortcut outside the station by jumping across to the next port
>I just get a feeling because dm is evil.
>sign for brothers to hold just before opening the door. Have techpriest check for a bomb on the other side of the door
>yep
>back out the way we came. Dm closes the other airlock on us because he's evil like that. We force it open. Bomb goes off in futility, no damage to the squad.

>Cloten assaulting dug in chaos marines charge down a corridor right into their kill zone. No problems. Dm takes away the floor, it was part of the plan all along, it was a hologram. Fall into another ambush. But I don't fall because I get 4+ successes on my acrobatics roll. Just keep charging like I meant to. Assassin strike the last marine in the bottom ambush, feat of agility, run up the side of the wall and land up in the ambush, all in the same action.

>Wolf #C47920

>Space Wolves

>Wolf

>Biting?!?!?!?

>Am a cybernetically altered wolf
