How do people play poker as a job?

How do people play poker as a job?

I sold it all off looks very scammy to me

of course they do you fucking idiot. theres million dollar poker tournaments on tv all the time

The market is highly saturated now. Don't even think about it unless you've already been in the game for a while. Beginners stand zero chance of ever making it.

No one plays poker for a job
dont listen to this retard: People win a tournament and they're never seen on the tour again, because it really is all about luck. People like Dan bilzerian are flat our liars, he's been funneling his dads dirty money for years.

All the pro players are just sitting in casino poker rooms waiting for fish and are compulsive gambling addicts who are barely hanging on

I play for a job AMA

College buddy in 06 made over 100k on online hold em just playing the odds and having 7 games going at once.

Mid-to-late 2000s were the only time this was viable. The normie poker boom is over and online is incredibly sharky. You could probably still eke out a living playing live at low stakes, people do, but it's not exactly glamarous

It’s similar to crypto in some ways, but way harder to make money, though not crazy hard if you are good at logic and math and you work hard and study effectively

I would unironically get a stiffy drinking this if it was a 10/10 girls shoe

Lol whaddya want me to say

if you like grinding out 16 hr days in trashy places filled with human garbage for like 50K a year, yes

basically you are taking money from retards that can't do math, but with poker strategy being common it's not like it once was

used to play online, made 8k over ~1500 hours. probably would have been better spent at mcdonalds but I BEAT THE SYSTEM...

>trashy places filled with human garbage for like 50K a year
aka the middle-class wageslave

You spend 14 hours a day playing poker, study your hand history and get analysis from other players while not playing and constantly live on the verge of losing your entire stack or gaining thousands. You have to be pretty autistic and really love poker to do it for a living. Get one big win an hour, that's the goal.

Like everyone has said, you can't make easy money from it anymore. The normies stormed in during the early 2000s and a half decent player could make thousands playing top 10 hands for a few hours a day. Now everyone has HUDs and play very technical, you're going to get your shit wrecked if you aren't well experienced. I am not a bad player IRL but I only go as high as 10NL online. Even that low gets pretty sharky, you start getting into the 100s and you better be a fucking technician or you're going to lose thousands. I'm also pretty sure people just use it to launder money through bitcoin as all the major sites accept it now.

IRL is a lot less hard at low stakes. People are easy to read and you're usually dealing with drunk dudes with money who think they're pros because they play with their friends once a month. I have crushed at the big casino a few hours away, but also got whooped a few times too.

I have a goof ball friend who's a top 1000 player. I think poker is all about being some kind of sociopathic weirdo that confuses people.

I live with an ex-professional online poker player.

They:
- Play up to 4 games per screen, up to 4 screens
- See it as maths more than luck
- Play with a very low % of their stack (what they want is to increase their stack with time so that earnings are bigger)
- Aren't emotional. Most are stupid but play like bots.

>be good at something
>make money from it

applies to everything in life.
but you suck at everything so please enjoy being a wagecuck for the rest of your shitty life.

They win. Frequently.

this.
>tfw i basically made it with poker late 2000s but got robbed and got left with no education or money
neet ever since but crypto might change that, looking alright so far.

Hey me too bro
I'm not even a fot fetishist

I've often seen these people, these squares at the table, short stack and long odds against them. All their outs gone. One last card in the deck that can help them. I used to wonder how they could let themselves get into such bad shape, and how the hell they thought they could turn it around.

By studying the game, playing a lot and getting good at it. It's a lot harder now than it used to be though so you have to really want it. Live poker is still very easy if you can be bothered with the travel.
Is clearly just mad that he can't beat his local bar SNG game kek

those were the good old days, i used to play for a living also

they don't. it's literally just an algorythm designed to take your money.

>I am not a bad player IRL but I only go as high as 10NL online.

dude, you dont know what are you talking about

t.former NL600€ reg, earlier this year i played a bit NL25 just for the lulz, winning is as hard as taking candy from a child

Ask me anything. I play poker reguarly and make about $1k USD a month. Not much but its something.

Yeah poker is hard as fuck to be a winner. Its a zero sum game, so for one person to win, another has to lose.

Also it can be incredibly fustrating. Some days you outplay your opponents and get it in good consistently and they suck out everytime and you lose. Just part of the game.

if youre not doing it in a casnio, its a scam.

otherwise whats to say? You go, you play good hands, you win and leave with money.

Yep, poker for a living is incredibly mind numbing and possibly even worse than being a crypto trader.
