Pathfinder General /pfg/

Have you ever played/run a vampire game like DSP's Lords of the Night is supposed to let you play? Is it way too niche a concept for Pathfinder? Is it too fantasy WoD?

I haven't played one, but I'm about to start one.

I'm debating allowing players to be other kinds of undead, like just Necropolitan or DSP undead races. It's in the air.

It's too well-covered by WoD. If I've ever needed to run a vampires game, there's always proved to be no point whatsoever in using Pathfinder for it over VtM.

Big fan of Crimson Countess.

What race is best for one?

Vanilla Dhamphir?

Correct.

I'd rather play Dark Ages than play Pathfinder anyways.

Lords of the Night has kinda fucked up demographics and feeding mechanics that make it impossible to have a hidden vampire society large enough for it to be fun to interact with.

Yeah man, I love only being able to play sneak attack peekaboo because every contemporary source of light in the game sends the PCs into a frenzy.

Fuck Dark Ages.

forget about vampires, how do I play a skeleton mage?

I was promised Overlewd salt. Where is it?

Sounds like you had a shit time.

Story?

By casting Grasp Heart repeatedly

try to become a skeletal champion with wizard levels, or be a lich

/pfg/, if you could ask a meme character or celeb player a question about their character that hasn't already been discussed in depth, what would you ask?

Do you sometimes mourn?

What happened during your dark period? Did you seek solace at the bottom of a bottle? Did you lose yourself in your work? Did you completely retreat from life?

Alright, I've got a list

>Casimir
Boxers, briefs, or boxer briefs
>Rory
What's the pedigree
>Etan
What's your opinion on strength/faith builds you filthy dex/int scrub
>4916
Have you considered losing weight?

The last game where we had any amount of salt was HV2E. I guess people just don't have the same capacity for impotent rage anymore.

>Str/Fth builds

Can anyone post some interesting undead creatures? asking for a friend...

>Konja
What kind of sheets do you prefer to be made with?
>Lilin
What do you think of these upstarts running around claiming to be the Heroes of Sandpoint?
>Amalthea
Why would you rip off a good and caring daddy?

Tzitzimitl is the coolest one, and its going to be featured in starfinder because the liches of Eox use them.

You can also include those undead brain jars

What are the best feats you can grab without needing to meet the prerequisites?

>Boxers, briefs, or boxer briefs

That's an awfully personal question, don't you think?

Slayer is good for this. Go for the intimidation ranger combat style and have fun

Consider being a monk. You can essentially skip all the prereqs of monk feats, style feats, martial arts feats, meditation feats, and tons of other stuff.

>Konja
Call me? I actually like your meme app.

If SEagle were to run another game, what would it be? What would you want him to run?

>Valeriya
Who is your daddy and what does he do?

Skull & Shackles, but only with Ratfolk.

>what would it be? What would you want him to run?

That's kind of asking the same question, isn't it? I want him to run the game I want to see him run.

And the game I want to see him run is Serpent's Skull, with an emphasis on fat-assed tribal folk and busty Amazonian babes.

I'm bulking

This but with lizardfolk

This too

Do not insult the greatness that is swimming eagle those things are a given.

>This but with lizardfolk

user... Lizardfolk feature prominently in Serpent's Skull, as the titular skull is the severed head of the Lizardfolk god.

as in fatass lizards

Do you honestly expect SwimmingEagle to make a campaign about lizardfolk and tribal-people and not make them thicc as fucc?

>fat-assed tribal folk
>busty amazonian babes
>kobolds featured prominantly
>SE would likely include fat-assed tribal kobolds

fuck, I didn't think I had room in my schedule for another game, but I think I can find an opening now. The only question I have is what's the skinny on Serpant's Skull,
because it's one of those things I never see people talk about.

I was hoping to make a beefy frontline melee shaman but after looking at the spirit selection I'm not too impressed. How weak is a martial shaman compared to the standard support build?

I know I won't be able to keep up with something like a barbarian or a fighter, but does the extra utility make the build worthwhile anyway, or would I just be better off building differently?

Actually. I would REALLY like to run serpent skull. I have the perfect character for it

>Race to the lost city! Deep in the southern jungles, a fantastic city of wonders lies ruined and forgotten by the outside world, ripe for plundering and exploration by the heroes. Yet they aren't alone—several other factions, from deadly Red Mantis assassins to the avaricious Aspis Consortium—have also been tipped off to the city's existence, and the race is on to see who will reach it first. Of course, nothing in the jungle is as easy as it seems. For once they arrive, the heroes discover that the city may be lost, but it is not uninhabited...

>The Serpent's Skull Adventure Path takes players from a shipwreck on the dangerous shores of the pirate island called Smuggler's Shiv to the deep forests of the Mwangi Expanse, and into a lost city where an ancient and powerful race of serpentfolk seeks to resurrect their dead god.

It's equal parts Indiana Jones, Heart of Darkness and Victorian Africa.

Why does that dwarf have hooves?

Don't you?

But is it good? Is it at least OKAY? Has anyone here even played it? Most importantly, is it fun?

I'm gonna run it. I'll even post an lfg when I'm done with gming my game

So what got nerfed in PoW and PoW:E after playtests ended?

what are some more humanoid ones? think more like vampires.

Serpent skull is actually one of the most fun adventure paths.

...

Just as planned

Consider at least one user interested.

Oh as in creatures to play?

What time does your game finish. I want to be around here to post my app

I've played it, and while the campaign's not good in the way Jade Regent or Curse of the Crimson Throne is good, it's so spectacularly hammy and self-aware that it's just a jolly good show. That said, I played it with a fantastically racist Chelaxian nobleman (Savage Technologist) who looked like the unholy cross between the Headhunter from Jumanji and a Conquistador, whose application theme was more or less this: youtube.com/watch?v=L25TO7mU_DY

And the cycle of /pfg/ meme games continues. Well done, user.

no just interesting undead in general. I'm playing a necromancer who learned under a nosferatu and my dm likes when we give her stuff to be inspired by.

Oh! And I forgot one of the most important parts of the campaign that people might be interested in.

It's got dinosaurs. Lots and lots of dinosaurs.

What's wrong with the Lords of the Night demographics?

Don't spoil it my man I am going to play a victorian musketmaster explorer, trophy hunter, treasureseeker

I think the result of the actual math was that a vampire of a certain age needs to be chugging blood basically nonstop.

>TFW I want to build a kobold whose life's mission is to fuck a dinosaur

essentially you need to be building blood farms, but that is why vampires don't operate in things much larger than covens

So what are /pfg/'s thoughts on a /pfg/ game like this.

Persistent campaign with a ton of players technically in, idk, like 20 or something.

But rather than being a open clusterfuck, being "in" the game just means your can put in Apps for individual quests, which are the actual campaigns that would be run, single adventures that will probably take a month or two in real time with weekly games, then when its over every one re-apps for the next quest.

The applications are more literal, the monarch or whatever is the person reviewing your IC apps and deciding who to send on the next quest.

When not on a quest, everyone's character's can still do downtime stuff like share info on the overarching plot or whatever.

I want to make that kobold ahegao

>Persistent campaign with a ton of players technically in, idk, like 20 or something.

I stopped reading right there. Nobody wants to do a persistent campaign because half of us have jobs and other obligations.

>the applicants end up being
>victorian musketman
>dutch trader
>spanish conquistador
>and a waifu

I'm fucking in.

d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/bestiary-hub/monsters-by-type/

this is my favorite list in that case

seconding

I don't want to spoil it for the rest of the party, but I'm going to tell you guys the first couple NPCs you meet.

Ditzy Red Mantis Assassin girl, busty reverse trap half-elf sailor who really likes to drink, and an incredibly fat Tian man who cooks a mean Lo Mein.

If you kept reading you would know neither of those are actually issued in this case

When will this game begin. I must BEGIN

Leave the kobolds alone, anons.

Can someone translate what this user said for me?

I don't speak nonsense.

...

See

Sorry buddo, I usually try to respond to build advice but I have never even looked at Shaman.

Hope someone else can help you.

I'm done GMing my game. I'll post it in a few minutes when I have the details written down

>thought he meant like done with a campaign
>not done with a session

holy shit time to think of some sheets.

The LFG is posted. Start thinking up characters. The time listed is for the end of applications

app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/76813/trouser-serpents-skull

is there anyone who could run a game that you'd actually pay money to have run for you? just looking through paid games on roll20, and fuck, some of these people are delusional.

YAAAAASSSSS

Looks a little barebones there buddy, but I guess you'll figure it out

No one ever does.

It's like everyone forgets the class exists.

I just want to build a shaman around this cool ass archetype.

Yeah. Vin Diesel. And that's about it.

...

>Rory as GM

Oh, uh, no thanks. Forget I said anything.

>app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/76813/trouser-serpents-skull
Hmm...how insane do I feel right now?

Gareth as a GM, I need this.

>gestalt
fuck
yes

Now, which explorer archetype to take...

Also background skills or naw?

SLEEP NO, YOU'LL DIE

Half a cantaloupe on your head, saying "I'm a hamster, I'm a hamster".

Yes

Gotta keep that cred up yo.
And hey, if he doesn't get in, there's always the option to PM THEM

Dude
Dude
I would gladly pay a large sum of money to get in a game with Vin Diesel just to watch him geek out over it.

>run and play in PF games frequently with my friends
>in a fun campaign right now, everyone is having a blast with it
>mention this to a person from lfg
>"Why the fuck are you even considering playing that garbage? Don't you know that it's absolutely abominable? Play a real system already!"
>remind him that we're having fun with the game
>guy goes full autist rage at me for enjoying the system with friends who also enjoy it

If we're all having fun with a system, what's the problem?

Don't you know, user? Fun is a meme!

You're not allowed to enjoy things unless they say you are!

Just ignore the haters, bro.

What husbando will match the abyss knight?
Will he turn out something Ulfric-tier? Or will it be another blond Dexfag fuccboi?

Opinions on Second Darkness, Legacy of Fire, Council of Thieves, Carrion Crown, Shattered Star, Mummy's Mask, and Strange Aeons? They aren't usually talked about. Also Ironfang Invasion if you want, but be sure to use spoiler tags

>Second Darkness
DROW
>Mummy's mask
Meatgrinder

Second Darkness is boring, Legacy of Fire is boring, Council of Thieves is insulting, Carrion Crown is boring, Shattered Star is fun but a dungeon crawl, Mummy's Mask is okay and Strange Aeons is really, really fun.

>Second Darkness starts good, turns to utter shit when you spend a whole module in JJ's not-Menzoberranzan torture dungeon
>Legacy of Fire has too much dungeon crawling, not enough hot waifus in harem pants
>Council of Thieves doesn't feel like a Pathfinder adventure, it feels like something that should use another system
>Carrion Crown is okay, but very episodic
>Shattered Star is one big dungeon crawl
>Mummy's Mask was boring and wasted its best ideas in book 1
>Strange Aeons is decent as a pulpy piece of reference porn, but utter shit as a horror experience

What should I ask DHB?
