I've recently gone on a kick setting up a soundtrack for my Wild Talents game, but I've yet to find a good track to play during combat. Hoping to get some suggestions here.
The suggestions I got from my group were as follows:
>Something with a beat >Something with strings >Instrumental
That's about it. The concept I'm trying to communicated is "power and grace" hence the beat and strings.
Say what you will of the show but it had a great OST

youtube.com/watch?v=o4dWX0bMaqQ&index=34&list=PL0008307CF3DC119A I'd love to use this song for fighting but for some reason it doesn't quite fit correct. Probably since my Wild Talents game is more urban and the shredding guitar doesn't have the right feel. One day I'll find a use for it.

>Something with a beat >Something with strings >Instrumental
>Dark Pit- Kid Icarus Oooo not quite; I'm looking more for violin/cello rather than guitar when I'm talking about Strings. However that song is perfect for another scenario!
Estradasphere's Palace of Mirrors is the perfect artistic accompaniment to all the ups and downs of a violent spree's decent into madness youtu.be/w4PIXcBNd5A youtu.be/3c0AFEWjczY (Live recording example)

Ya'll keep posting your Japanese things yet forget the classics, FOR SHAME !
dude, I suggest you give us some hints at what you are planning in certain situations so we can understand what theme you are going for.

Good idea.
Primarily, I'm looking for a sort of "random encounter" theme where a party of vigilantes are on patrol for criminal activity. This usually results in street brawls and shootouts, occassionally against superpowered criminals.
The keywords I guess I'm aiming for is gritty and urban, more drum and bass driven than guitar, and with strings (violin/cello). Kind of picky but I've been searching high and low for a couple days. So far the Tekken track from this post is the best I've heard in this thread.
did you rip it straight from the old game CD-ROMs like I did?
this is a very good point.
>WITH A BEAT all I can give to you will have a beat.
>the glitch mob these guys do a damn fine job of maintaining a certain level of intensity over time, their full albums are almost exactly an hour long which makes the great for keeping time. their intensity is great for studying, car-trips, DM prep, S&M sessions, and any long-duration repetitive task
>actual fight music youtu.be/lv2J18MQRQI >animus Vox >give this one about 60 seconds to establish itself
youtu.be/XdCeBOBgnxo >fortune days >faster start that AV leads to a consistent tempo
They are more "jazzy" than anything, but I have used some on my modern settings.

Not OP but I don't think Skullgirls is very gritty.
from what he likes so far and what he wants I think he wants music that gives the feel for making drug lords suffer with a small amount of techno in it.

>Something with strings
youtube.com/watch?v=09RUuTAM2H0 >closest I can find to a good fight theme by this group >they do other things better suited to calm sections >and some post tragic event stuff.
I could gas on about Lindsey Stirling as having a few, but people tell me I over-hype her music. so I'll not put any here. I had also considered Taylor Davis, but not a lot of her music is high-energy enough for me to call it "fight music"
youtube.com/watch?v=gHbwAd5gkMM >Hysteria by 2Cellos >might have that energy you want with enough grit on the strings for urban combat
I might also suggest combing over the albums of Two Steps From Hell, but thats literally hundreds of pieces of music(they do movie soundtracks) but some of them have some good string or base work. youtube.com/watch?v=UmUVXOXiLeM
>gritty hero combat yeah, glitch-mob
Luke Bell
Mind if I add my own request onto the thread? I am looking for music that would fit into a Al-Quadim or India style game. was perfect And the Dark Pit theme works well.
>Hardmode: Find something that suits that theme that can also work like a sea shanty.
Andrew Williams
>Max Payne- "COMBAT DRUGS" Really like this; I can use this for fighting against drugged up metahumans.
>Skullgirls I'd pick from these in a second, except that everyone at my table except me hates jazz.
>2Cellos Oh god this matches beautifully with a specific villain that my players are going to face soon. Perfect.
if someone could tell me what the hell is being sung in the Raven track i would be most grateful. it has been months now and i can't tell if it's "I am seeing" over and over and if he's saying "I watched you naked" or whatever... I cannot make out any of the lyrics and I had no trouble with nirvana.

You saying Hindu/Arab made me think of Sikh so I went searching in Youtube. I found this but it probably won't fit because it sounds too "modern" but It's a start.
That is already the theme song for the current antagonist. I play this every time he is right about to just "It was I, DIO" them, and they now associate that song with pain.
