about time

FUGG, CHAOS WANTS SUMMA DAT SHIZ

Shouldn't be surprised, I honestly just don't see why we needed even more Marines. We are already awash in a tide of them and now we are just getting more.

Also does this mean that, the moment we get a Primaris special character, they'll just be better than Calgar and Grimnar?

The thing said there are gonna be whole Chapters of these guys so that means there will be Chapter Master too and...how will there be whole Chapters of these guys too, how long has it been? Also the implication is that they were made from the Geneseed of multiple different Primarchs so is the idea that Roboute asked to be allowed to use the other Chapter's geneseed as well?

That's a big bolter

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

My question: will this lead to any actual significant infighting, since the ad talks about some Marines thinking its wrong, or is that just some pointless flavour text and in-canon everyone's going to just get perfectly along with it or at most throw a mean look at each other.

For you

>Also does this mean that, the moment we get a Primaris special character, they'll just be better than Calgar and Grimnar?

I doubt that. The Big Three has nearly a millennia (in Dante's case much more) of experience these numarines don't have. They would be amazing troops but not so great commanders since they don't have experience. Either these chapters are led by veteran oldmarines or numarine chapter masters lack the finer aspects of oldmarine chapter masters.

So they are toilet bowl marines with a new paint job?

Fucking awful. Thanks every redditor begging to 'advance the plotline'.

I give it two years before all old space marines are completely obsolete and Gathering Storm turns them into Gathering Dust.

8th edition a shit

Somehow I just doubt GW's gonna make these guys worse than their standard marine counterparts, but we'll wait and see.

but m..muh kald0r draig0

>gw tries to sell truescale marines without having to replace the other 200 space marine kits in existence

From a business point of view I get it, from a writing perspective, this is the point where 40k finally jumped the shark.
That's just retarded.

would be hilarious if Gulliman just started a second civil war.
This time it's just ultramarines and successors against everybody else.

Payback for the spiritual liege crap.

>Playing marines
That's what you get for playing the Honda&toyota/Ryu&ken/Subzero&scorpion/Vanilla Icecream of Warhammer races

*Range 30, Strength 4, AP -1 and Rapid Fire.

I presume this is shit?

:3

>cost more points
>not universally accepted
>neat looking
>makes Cato look like a bitch
seems fine to me.

Funny thing is, in the article they try to cover for Chaos that they got the support of the Chaos Gods so its okay, except I highly doubt they'll make a standard Death Guard Marine as deadly as a Primaris one.

More mechanically though, how will they be better? I mean base Marines are already now 3+/3+ and 4/4 right? So will these guys have 2+'s? Or 5/5's? In which case aren't these guys just Custodes then?

The FAQ states that they are better in some respects than regular marines, they tend to cost more and are alot more inflexible than a tactical squad.

So it seems you can get just as much bang for your buck with a well equipped tac squad [now you can move and fire heavy weapons]

Grimdark is over. Rest in peace 40k.

DG will be just as big, fatter, and +1 T

So, how long do we have to wait for these fuckers to fall to chaos? Because if they're creating chapters entirely composed of nuMarines, they gonna fall to chaos.

Yeah except I'm pretty sure, with how they're doing stuff, that GW is avoiding the Imperium having any kind of significant internal ructions at all.

It'd be interesting and nice to see happen though.

Might just be a space marine with 2 wounds and a better gun.

There will prob be punch fast marines, punch slow marines, big shoot marines, many shoot marines.

>Grimdark is over.
And thank Christ for that

Cawl cannot into low gothic

if nobody would be eating vanilla ice cream you couldn't feel so special about your chocolate scoop, princess.

The the stupidest thing I've heard. If marines weren't vanilla i'd be something else.

The other user has it right. 40k is a setting, not a story.

I called it exactly right to my friend about the statline of the new bolter.
And I'll bet money they have S/T5 on top of it, and 30k version of heavy weapons.
For a basic infantry weapon, it's good shit.
For example, back in the day, space marines could upgrade from bolters to shurikats precisely because shurikats were 30", S4, Ap-1 with double tap.

At least none of them are female... ultimate lore break avoided

No need, just make the chaos version of this the chosen. Chosen marines grow a foot in height due to chaos gifts and are stronger. done and done.

It's a longer range bolter.

>Horus Heresy Plate with Modern Ad Mech tech on top

What does that mean exactly? I thought all "modern" Power Armour was based on that anyways?

Oh man i did not see that death guard video, thanks for the heads up dude

Bummer, I was hoping for that autistic shitshow. Would have been hilarious.

No helmets were removed, user.

They're just going to take it easy for a few weeks, then you'll see Chapter Master Marianne.

...

>"That image is fake, a kit bash."
>official GW images show them
>"They're just 'proper' Mk8 power armour"
>'MkX power armour'
>"They're just standing upright."
>'genetically altered from their brethren to be bigger'

Denial is a powerful thing.

But seriously, meh. We stormcast now.

I'd like to know where Mk9 PA and why must everything always have to be tied to 30k. Shit sucks. At this point there's HH and then there's late M41, and nothing of note happened in between. Everything is tied to HH. We might as well squeeze the timeline down to HH happening few hundred years before M41 and it'd feel much more plausible.

Couldn't Claw have done this project in secret (they could tie some of the failed Foundings on his experimentations) while trying to resurrect Girlyman. Once they got the primarch out, they could use him to find the missing pieces to complete the project (like how during 30k primarch genetic matter was used to stabilize accelerated development of Marines, allowing them to be created in a year vs. 8-10 years, if I remember correctly). Why did it have to be Girlyman's orders? Did Girlyman order Claw to find a way to resurrect him as well? Might as well. I bet the Emperor told Girlyman to do it, knowing all this well in advance.

Just wait until you see the Primaris Adepta Sororitas, cleansing the galaxy of mutation and heresy via snoo snoo.

I was mostly talking fluff, not crunch. Mechanically all types of stuff can result, Nobs often die to Marines with knives in combat in fluff but not as much crunch.

I only meant fluffwise. Not to mention the article than seems to say their only drawback is limited numbers compared to standard Marines. And as anyone who reads 40k Lore knows limited numbers is practically never a problem if you are a Marine, so I guess these guys will often just be doing for regular Marines what regular Marines were already doing for Guardsmen in fluff.

how do you know? Just because they haven't mention it?

THE LEAKS WERE REAL

AGE OF EMPEROR NOW

>Not reading the Articles, none of them have any language that could refer to female, only manly men with bigger guns.

Why exactly do you autists keep trawling this stale bait out as though it was ever a thing?

I wonder what the chapters on the opposite side of the rift are doing while Gillyman gives everyone marines 3.0

Seem they're overhyping how much superior they are then, but sure that could be it, that might even be a little bit better.

I'm guessing their armour has to be better too, since they make such a thing about it, but I'd be surprised if they have base 2+ saves so maybe rather a base low Inv or something, I dunno.

its bolters with +6 range and the equvilent of AP 4
They are marines with kraken rounds, bretty good

It files Ris
I mean for lore, the ultimate FUCK YOU to the single ray of hope emerging from the grim darkness would be if Gulliman's ultra-ultramarines immediately betrayed his cause. Horus Heresy 2.0

Probably means the older more durable and high tech stuff made with the years of experience the Imperium has had dealing with current enemies in mind.

Tried and true principles, modern sensibilities.

Because if girls start playing with our army men too, it might be less manly.

It's a rifle now, I guess.

Stats are suspiciously close to what we expected Tau Pulse Rifles to be.

>Mk9 PA
GK armor is technically Mk9, user, just like Aegis terminator armor is the next mark.

Guess we are going into the nobeldark then.

They never tell of the exact numbers but Guillaume's Terran Crusade led to the the near extinction of the Ultramarines and severe depletion of other chapters.

I presume this is GW's attempted handwave to make up for the losses done to a 1000 man battle formation during an age of strife.

>why must everything always have to be tied to 30k

People love marines. 30k is all about the marines. GW has spent a decade fleshing out 30k to the point where it's now REQUIRED READING for 40k.

You're right though. Fuck 30k. It was better off being a few pages of fluff that set the scene for the setting.

much better than this shit

They are fixing the game. In 2 years you will be happy for having better looking armies. Also you can still play your old shit.

Please god, let this be true.

Once everybody is super, nobody is super. Nice to see my marines have gone from a step up from the comparison point of guardsmen to just another rung on the ladder.

Fall to Chaos when?

>implying it's not just GW rebranding the bolter to Bolt Rifile™

Nothing said that they were all male either, user.

They're playing it safe. No mention of lady marines for now, so they can deal with the first wave of autistic screeching. But they're coming. Better start drafting up that ebay listing.

I'd be pretty happy if the armour just gave them either a 3+ that ignored a point of penetration or rerolling 1's with no access to 2+ saves.

We Tau Marines now

Please, where were you when they released Grey Knights? Or even the Death Watch?

Jokes on gw. Muh marines are pre-heresy

I'm just honestly amazed Cawl managed to, apparently, keep this secret from everyone and everything, including Inquisitor Grandmasters, Drakan Vangorich, Assassins and more for the last 10 000 years. I'd have thought somewhere there'd have been someone noticing it eventually.

That is why marines are gay as fuck. IG are cooler

Also why Sigmarines are gay in AoS. Freeguild/empire are cooler

The gud guise are supposed to be the underdog. not the demigods

Mk.IV Maximus armor was considered the most advanced form of power armor. With Mk.V being last-ditch-late-war. Mk.VI being specialty armor for recon purposes. Mk.VII being cheaper than Mk.IV but nearly as good.

That was my understanding anyway.

bury it
consider this mercy

Nice helmet, though I still prefer my beaks. The faulds and poleyns are nice, too.

Shame the pauldrons are still just big ugly bubbles but I suppose there's no fixing that after this much time.

I already have 40 Grey Hunters and 15 Blood Claws with 25 wolf guard, so a tonne of infantry...

I guess I'll wait and see if they release a SW upgrade kit for these guys and maybe just get a single squad.

I already have bigger better marines in the form of Wulfen.

I highly doubt they'll do a betrayal arc, not now.

>But I play Chaos! Where are my super-super-human reinforcements?

>First off, that’ll teach you for turning your back on the Emperor.

Honestly this seems like a decent change. Seems like another low model count marine option. Neat that they were able to use the same scale helmet and pauldrons.

I actually don't think the statline will be better than a normal marine, but I do think they may have some "Primaris" special rule that implies they're better. If they want entire armies of new Primaris Marines, they're going to want to keep the point costs similar to old marines.

Well my custom chapter is succeeding. Already said "fuck your little book pansy" about 10,000 years ago.

Fuck the Ultramarines
Fuck the Imperium
Fuck the Primarch

>tfw id already based most of my chapters personality and philosophy on The Hound from ASOIAF and now I get to actually go mimic his storyline. Thanks GW.

Inb4: it's preheresy Imperial fists. It's the scheme I use.

suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/48444329/

AS HAS BEEN FORETOLD

>10,000 years to design a brand new weapon for the next generation of super-soldiers
>BEHOLD, THE MK II BOLTER, EXACTLY THE SAME AS MK I BOLTER BUT WITH A SLIGHTLY LONGER BARREL!

Humans everyone.

>it's just a photoshop
>it's just a kitbash
>gw would never do that

>GK armor is technically Mk9, user, just like Aegis terminator armor is the next mark.

GK armour is the Aegis suit, which is its own pattern, quite clearly borrowing from the MkVI (which was the latest suit pattern at the time in production and the suit worn by the Knight-Errants). Same with Aegis terminators and their very clearly Indomitus inspired design.

Don't really know, Chapters often pretty much die, like the Crimson Fists, but then don't really suffer any lasting harm and are still taking part in fights left right and center and winning battles. Besides did it really say the Ultramarines almost went extinct?

Dear complaining faggots:

The box set is going to have like 2 squads of these doods and will be a great value like all the GW starter sets. Trade the deathguard half for more marines, Bam instant collection. You wont have to spend much to get up to date

>First off, that’ll teach you for turning your back on the Emperor.

DW and GK are specialists. I don't mind a marine with extra training and equipment being better against a very specific threat. Just seems a bit annoying to just outright state these lads are better than normal marines.
I'd play guard if the sculpts weren't older than my kids.

Rifle can't be copyrighted.

Only for the Imperium. Everyone else is fucked. Chaos had a bit of a moment of brightness but looks like they're about to get their shit pushed in hard again by the Indomitus Crusade. Apparently Chaos is so pathetic they still couldn't even actually claim control of the Cadian System.

The only surprising thing is that he has enough to repopulate and even build entirely new chapters out of Primaris marines.

That must mean Cawl has had AT LEAST A LEGION OF MARINES IN HIS BASEMENT. At least if it can replace the losses AND build new chapter of this period.

An entire legion! People freak the fuck out over the Black Templars having 200 marines more. But Cawl had what must have been the most potent military fighting force of the Imperium hidden in his garage for Ten thousand years.

>No blast markers
>40mm Sergeants

Nuuu Games Wooorkshooop

And the difference is marks is usually not incredibly different, visually. The Errant got it's own mark principally because of the gorget.

I'm super happy about this. It's their way of fading in rules and models to properly represent marines as they're described in the fluff.

How would you guys have introduced rules and models to accurately represent marines without completely invalidating your army in one fell swoop?

If he got the order from Girlyman, Cawl just needed to show that paper to anyone and they couldn't do shit, because primarch orders. It's a bit like how SW could fight the Inquisition and not get into too much trouble, because they were both following orders. Or how the Inquisition nor Ecclesiarchy can revoke a Rogue Trader charter signed by the Emperor or a primarch.

>you will never get to combine human and xenos technology to create the perfect flashlight with your earth caste waifu
Feels bad, man.

So bets on which faction is getting squatted in nu40k? I've heard Tau as an option so far but that seems an unlikely about face to me.

Seem perfect for Alpha Legion

>Just seems a bit annoying to just outright state these lads are better than normal marines.

But they don't. The article seems to go to pretty decent lengths to stress that they are better in some area's but largely inflexible and expensive to produce.

Just because they're more advanced in some area's doesn't make them the new hot shit, there's still a lot to be said for normal Marines.

Well I suppose not. It was more assumption on my part that Guillemane would have led a larger portion of ultramarines on his crusade. And we do know most of the crusade was wiped out.

>not a single one of the numarines wears the imperial aquila on their chestplate
What did they mean by this?

Honestly my idea army would be a horde of guardsmen and 1-2 squads of marines. That's how it should be in my opinion. They would feel ELITE like they are supposed to.

In the books you always read about this crazy battle of normal men going on and then some marines come in and fuck up everything.

Entire armies of superhumans just aren't cool, especially when they get eaten by some gaunts.

>Primaris Marines
>Has a specific name for Tacticals, 'Intercessors', just like Stormcast
>Improved geneseed
>Doesn't say how it's improved

Confirmed for working on wimmin now. Pepper ur angus for the tidal wave of butthurt.

I definitely think part of the reason these new Marines are a thing is simply because GW is a business and the well was running dry with regards to what they could add to the SM range. They already mentioned Primaris Redemptor Dreadnoughts and new vehicles.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the fact that you can field an entire army of the new Marines, but with less models because they cost more points wise, is GW catering to people who want a small army but don't want to be pidgeonholed into Grey Knights, Deathwing, or some other kind of all Terminator army.

As for characters, I wouldn't be surprised if there are no rules for such. The Stormcast Eternals have various characters in their lore, but none of them have specific rules.

As for other Chapter's geneseed, technically it seems like he wouldn't have to ask since it's Cawl who did the work and all Chapters send a tithe of their geneseed to Mars.

Eh, in some ways I think they've offered an argument for why the new Marines are justified lorewise. Chaos is on the ascendant and a bunch of Chapters have suffered heavy casualties fighting either them or other threats.

Chaos being on the rise also means that the gods will be able to invest more of their power into Chaos Space Marines.

The idea that settings have to remain is stasis is one of the stupidest things repeated on Veeky Forums and I believe solely a result of GW shitting themselves after the original 13th Black Crusade and Storm of Chaos and deciding that it's better to play it safe by piling events one on top of the other and having any new models either being magically rediscovered or always existing.

I'm pretty sure this is not the first time 40k has advanced. I recall seeing not too long ago an old interview done for the third or fourth edition Tyranid codex where Andy Chambers, Jes Goodwin, and maybe Phil Kelly talk about advancing what Leviathan is doing.
