So I've missed the general thoughts on the new vehicles article, but at first glance it seems great for melee armies. I don't see any reason why you couldn't move forward with fast transport, which is probably at least T6 with 6+ wounds, unload the lads from inside, charge with the vehicle to eat the overwatch, since units hitting on 6's aren't going to take down something with a vehicles stats, and then charge in with the disembarked unit. So long as the vehicle survives the charge, which given the vehicle stats we've seen doesn't seem unreasonable, the disembarked unit won't face any overwatch at all.

Waiting to now what the rules will be for each faction. Not that I have anyone to play with right now, but at least, 8th gives me the motivation to finally build/paint something. It's a good feeling.

My LGS manager said it's actually been rough this month, noones buying models because of 8th, he was telling me that as I dropped $150 on some troop boxesthat will be good any edition and some other things I'd been putting off buying until work picked up so I don't have to have a guilty conscious

Multiple bits of kit that ork vehicles never used will be genuinely useful melee weapons now as well. Ork vehicles will actually be good at melee, not just there to eat overwatch.

How do I run my deathwatch? Sorry if I'm gonna get annoying talking about them but I love them so much that I think I'll name every marine for deathwatch that I get. Should I create squads that are dedicated to doing a specific purpose, e.g a pure melee squad consisting of power swords and a dude with a heavy thunder hammer, and a heavy weapons squad with all my dudes equipped with heavy weapons like frag launchers etc?

It is a good feeling. I'm really excited to have people who want to play 40k. At my store 7th seemed to bore people for the past 5 months, so they only wanted to play Sigmar. I'm happy that other people are excited.
That's rough, I know that feel well. I played against a Space Marine guy using the Gladius formation and we had that deployment where we are on the short table edges. We spent two turns driving and running close to each other and then he had to go. Basically nothing happened except movement and 2-4 potshots a turn.
It's hot as hell here too and our AC is broke. It was broke in the store too. Stay cool user.

Yup, Kraken rounds right now are 30'' Str 4 AP 4 Rapid Fire. And since all weapons with AP 4 we've seen so far have been getting -1 AP, it is safe to say that the Kraken Round profile in 8th edition will be 30'' Str 4 AP -1 Rapid Fire 1
