Various worlds and multiverses have become connected together via the mysterious Overcity, a sprawling landscape inhabited by monsters and magical beings. Girls and boys endowed with their new supernatural powers can work together solving conflicts that arise!
This thread houses three systems: First, QuasarBlack's CYOA PDFs which may be used as writing prompts. Second, AMGC which expands on the CYOA character creation and provides rules for combat. Finally, the SCS is an alternative to AMGC with a similar purpose. IRC uses mostly AMGC and Discord uses mostly SCS.
The CYOA's Patron Module, for choosing just who your mysterious benefactor is. Of course, not all of them have your best interests in mind...
...in fact, most of them probably don't care too much about you at all.
Matthew Hernandez
his PDF is for AMGC 1.14.1, one of the two usable PNP systems for playing as a magical girl. It features 10 additional powers and 20 extra perks, as well as combat actions, point buy, and more. Note that this is NOT the same as the CYOA, and uses its own methods of character generation.
Additional info, links, modules, and so on can be found on the IRC linkboard: piratepad.net/MGCYOA
Or just drop into IRC for a quick Q&A.

The SCS was made as an addon to the CYOA to cover the combat side of roleplaying. It allows players to easily take characters made in the CYOA v1.5 and use them in Quests and long-running campaigns alike. Note that this system DOES require you to have a character made in the CYOA in the OP first.
This PDF covers the core rules of gameplay, as well as the methods of improvement and various spells and items magical girls use.
>Expansions to the SCS can be found in this link pastebin.com/kVJmwcj3 These expansions include >Order & Chaos; Friend & Foe (OC&FF): Details on the mechanical workings of Patrons, Dark Magical Girls, Monster Girls (both natural and corrupted), and also includes a bestiary >Worlds & Wishes (W&W): Details various GM tools and a few player tools, including the function of Mundane weapons, Alternate/Optional Rules, Various tips and tricks for GMing and Roleplaying, as well as Augments for players looking for a little extra power after CharGen. It also includes the conversion process for AMGC characters into the SCS.
When did this die. Why is it Dead. What the fuck is happening to Veeky Forums.

Monster hunting and mythology! Sometimes you get to do both at the same time!

My mahou expends huge amounts of time using websites they don't enjoy anymore to keep up with trends and movements they're too invested in to let go of, and when they're not doing that they're being internet famous or trying to figure out how to survive.
You see, so far we've been talking as if there are only two kinds of mahou: "super edge badass fantasy" and "cakes and candy and honeymoons" but I've never actually seen this dichotomy in play. Mostly people gravitate towards the middle leaning towards the cake. I believe the PC community is better measured by FOUR spectrum:

cont.
RPeal Life: your RPs center around making meeting others, setting up basic living arrangements, building relationships, and carving out a comfortable life for yourself in a post-redpill magical world. you tend to RP the most with a close circle of RPing friends, but frequently visit combative events. most likely, but not necessarily, the setting is fairly realistic (if dated) other then those elements essential to the plot.
Tactical Maguka you're a professional gals with a job to do taking out high-profile and well protected enemies in this shades-of-grey world, and you probably know a million details about every single one of your gizmos actually works. combat and RP probably go hand-in-hand most of the time.
Tavern Hobo you collect quests off a bulletin board, kill the lich, snake, or dragon or whatever, and collect your reward with a touch of RP afterwords for all who want to join in that follow up on the smaller bits of RP you squished between your last encounter and your DM figuring out how to rush you into the next one. i expect to see you rping healsluts and knights
Overcity Squatters you visit your army of PCs and NPCs among unusual and ununified locations of the Overcity, visiting the moonlight tower of crystal people one day and your fetish cowmom's farm the next. what even is the combat system? you just RP.
There's also this other one, but don't think I've ever seen an RP that centered around it: Saturday Morning a drama, probably school life, with such a thick coating of light hearted fluff and off-the-wall gimicks that you never really think about how fucked up it all is.

From one to five, what setting do you roll in, user? Mine is usually somewhere around: >RPeal Life: 4 >Tactical Maguka: 0 >Tavern Hobo: 3 >Overcity Squatters: 2.5 >Saturday Morning: 2

I think your description misses the mark. The mission-style quests I played in IRC usually involved more roleplaying than combat.
>Ranged+Skimpy+Flexibility+Martial Training >Teleportation+Absolute Direction >Attack stat of 16 with a good MAG too, plus more than decent VIT and LCK
You're killin' it.

Holy shit, you guys are alive! I thought you died for good.
Have you progressed any further with the rulebook/spells?

The community is fairly self sustaining within the irc or discord. Threads are made more or less on whim at this point since there's little reason to post here when we have more immediate venues except as a point of contact for those who are exclusive to the irc or discord communities or if one community could use some fresh blood.
I believe you're asking about the AMGC spellbook which someone else would have to comment on but SCS got a recent update to 1.10 so the stuff at the top of the thread is a little out of date. Someone who is not on their phone should probably fix that.

Does your mahou have a favorite food?

I'm still working on balancing powers. I've always known that they would have a strong impact by influencing the length of combat (think of a matchup between two mahous with defensive powers, compared to what happens if they both have offensive powers). What I didn't fully anticipate is how much they affect the value of Mana and Stamina. Having a power that uses these resources drives up their value disproportionately. This makes it harder to present an option that is simultaneously valuable to e.g. both a regenerator and a teleporter.

I'll admit, Justice tastes good and is good for you.
Fate is a fickle thing, and now it hands me power unwanted and at a price.

thas a cute pic
in theory and in theory only (jk some peeps are cool but they're never going to be running the world, so "on a some small scales and small scales only" is a better answer uwu)

She's very fond of bubble gum.

Starbucks and things that've been popular on pinterest as long as those pins are 1) current and 2) tasteful. Black ice cream with coconut and mermaid toast are tasteful, slime and unicorn crayola shit isn't.
I really like making her strongly proud of her own intense and kinda niche aesthetic while making her absolutely intolerant of anybody else's :3

is there a summer event in da works?

>Have you progressed any further with the rulebook/spells? The most recent real progress we've made so far was when Drak and I exchanged email addresses. I can't promise any releases until the later half of the next term holidays which isn't for a few months though.
Owen Lee
I know it's fashionable to comment on your character through your roll, but I'm on mobile so maybe I can just encourage you to share about your character's details without sublety?
Gavin Jackson
Bubble gum would probably be appreciated by a certain electric sheep.
Blake Bailey
I will post later. Busy now

>without subtlety This is a mindset I can't understand. If your entire character is out front for everyone can see, by definition it has no depth.
Dominic Wood
Yeah, no lets keep this here a bit longer. What is your Mahou's purpose in life outside of being a magical girl? Are they a magical used cars sellsman? Do they go to school? Are they a poor, homeless man who just thinks he's a mahou shoujo?
Ryan White
Oooh I really wanna get back into this game
Ryder Peterson
whoopsies. I wasn't thinking when i wrote that.
for clarification: I know it's fashionable to, when you want to know details about how someone fleshed there character out from their Veeky Forums post roll, hint that you want more deets by looking up their roll and commenting on particularly outstanding combinations, thus communicating that you care and are investing and inviting them to say more about what they changed and statted and what fluff they're making without damanding they do it; but i can't check rolls on mobile, not easily anyway, so please allow me to approach the question tactlessly (ie. without subtlety, may I simply ask this out in the open)
Brody King
They have hobbies and a vague idea that going back to school might be good long-term but they're very much a full-time monster hunter. They take their work very seriously - 16 or 18 hours a day they're looking for a fight. Their off-time is spent mostly hanging out with friends, reading, working on a craft, or sleeping.
Nicholas Evans
>16 or 18 hours lucky non-sleeper mine used their hammerspace to load up on starbucks
I think I'd coin the Interdimensional Tourist over to Dual weapon with a bronze. I could use a Silver to move the specialization around, but to what? An oddball? Possibly, I'm not sure how well air jives. I may well report back on this.
