2nd guy done, used nuln oil over all the black and it helped blend the highlights.
For the flamer guy, what Sept or colour should the tau helmet be? To fit into the snow and mud base.

Best paints for Uruk Hai?
Zachary Davis
Working on a new color scheme for my Tau. The tacticool dweeb in me likes it. My other tau are FSE colored.

My recipe for Uruk-hai using Pre-2012 paints is... >Prime Black >Dry brush boltgun metal over whole model quite heavily. >Chaos black on skin/non metal area's. >50/50ish of gore red/scorched brown. (Adjust ratios as per you liking) >Highlight skin gore red. >Highlight metal areas with chainmail silver. >Skull white for any symbols/teeth/eyes and shit.
Basic as fuck way to paint them but it gets a good result.

Thanks user. I play Guard and go by the name GGA in the /40kg/ but was looking to branch out to Lotr as well. Will post finished Uruk-hai of course but does any one have tips for basing them?

No worries. Basing really on your preference. I did mine to represent Helms Deep. So it was some sand painted grey, the odd bit of slate or rock and the rare tuft of yellowy grass. But I cant even show you a picture unfortunately because I sold them some time ago.
There was a guy at my local GW who based his Uruks off the closing scenes from the first movie. So it was all forest bases. They looked fantastic.

They look good, but you should try to do at least one more thin white coat on the shoulder pads.
No meme, but your paints are a bit thick and showing some of the black below. Biggest offender is the sword brother on the right imo.
Daniel Perez
Thanks man, right most guy is my first which is usually the worst. Hopefully I'll get the hang of this by the 3rd or 4th guy
