goddamn posts like these remind me to be thankful for the nucanon

Sup Veeky Forums, I need help with a 300 point epic list with the raider-

I've already decided on the Hardpoints for it (2x Quad Laser, 1x Ion Cannon Battery), I know I want a Tactician and Operations Specialist as the crew, and I'd also like a Backup Shield Generator and maybe Cluster Bombs.

I know that the escort should be 6 Omega Squadron Pilots with Weapons Guidance and Crack Shot.

My first question is- How mandatory is Captain Jonus to buff a raider? Is running a raider that has no dice mods albeit one that relies on missing, an option?

Second question-What's a good title on this thing? If I don't have Jonus flying alongside, I know that the one that gives target locks is mandatory, but what should I take if I do have Jonus following me around? Without a Shield technician I don't think I'll be recovering much, Jonus already gives rerolls on everything except the main gun, and the one that gives focus on defense is bad.

Other questions include- How useful is Lieutenant Dormitz in Epic? Is being able to use him to deploy my entire squad in the middle of the board a good idea? Are Engineering teams a good option?

I'm trying to cut down a 400 point list that had Jonus, Dormitz, 6 TIE/FO's, the raider, and 2 defenders, down to 300 points, but I don't know who gets cut after the defenders. All I know is that the TIE/FO's and the Raider have to stay.

It's 137-139 for this raider loadout depending on what title I take (2x Quad Laser Cannons, Ion Cannon Battery, Backup Shield Generator, cluster Bombs, Optimized Generator, Tactician, Operations Specialist) and then 120 for the escort.

That leaves 43-41 points for Jonus/Upsilon/Aces for the late game.

What would you do Veeky Forums? Jonus and some more upgrades, an Upsilon, or an ace?

Assailer is fine too, Jonus is mandatory, Dormitz is fun , spend those points on a Phantom to win the game.

Could someone point me to some good armada gameplay tutorials? Something like full games with people explaining everything pretty detailed. I told my friend I'd play in an upcoming tournament and I have yet to play a game

Does anyone else think Temura Morrison was a lame casting choice for Jango?
He doesn't look threatening at all, or look like the kind of guy who could beat a Jedi to death with his fists which is why Jango was chosen as the template in the first place

Also, phase 1 or phase 2 armour?

If jonus is more important than Dormitz-

Jonus is 24 points with LWF, and if my title is Assailer, then I have 19 points for upgrades to Jonus, teams for the raider, and maybe a TIE. 23 if I dump the cluster bombs.

I assume that putting 40 of those points in for a phantom is a joke?

What do I put on Jonus? Rebel Captive, another Opspec, and Boshek (bump the raider, suddenly change a 2 straight to a 2-bank to crush fools) all seem like options, and it doesn't look like any of the EPTs are useful.

What would you do with the remaining 19 points?

>a couple of bits of memery in a mostly great EU
>versus nucanon, MaRey Sue, Little White Cuckball, Wendig etc

Phantoms are a terror in Epic for mop up. Hang back, kill whatever threatens her, and Echo can wipe hundreds of points on her own.

If you've just got 19 points to spend, throwing Scourge in is never a bad idea.

my headcanon>>>>>>>>>old canon=nucanon

I like him as Jango. I dont think he looks that threatening, but he really doesnt look like a guy you want to mess with. Its his voice and the way he acts that sell him. His voice is absolutely gorgeous.

Also I prefer phase 2. I think they look amazing, especially with all the colour variation

>Its his voice and the way he acts that sell him.
I personally think that Jason Wingreen did it better, but that's just my correct opinion and all.

Wingreen did a good job, but Morrison is so much more distinctive and interesting without losing anything

I'm fine with Morrison as Jango. I don't like Morrison as Boba. Like said, Wingreen 's voice was great for Boba Fett. Fit the "man with no name" vibe perfectly.

Oh dont get me wrong, Wingreen is the one true Boba. His voice was perfect. But Morrison is great as Jango, and hes fine as Boba its just Wingreen is just so much better

Well, 19 to spend on crew/munitions for Jonus and maybe teams for the raider.

What would you do with that?

How useful is a second Opspec? A rebel captive on Jonus? A team for the raider?

Second OpSpec is probably overkill. Systems Officer would be nice. Gunnery Team would be nice on the Raider. Maybe throw in Wampa for lulz.

Jonus will probably only be in position to hand out 2-3 focus a round with his opspec anyways. How would systems officer be useful? The front of the raider will probably be Target locking each round anyways.

You think gunnery team would be more relevant than an engineering team?

Just got back from my first store championship. I placed 32 out of 41, with two wins and three losses. My losses were all horrible stomps, but I learned some lessons.

Im really happy with my result though, I got two more wins than I expected and I got a boat load of stuff.

I got an alt art tactician and acrylic evade token, alt art engine upgrade from placing in the top 32 (store only had 32 copies), I won an acrylic Kallus token as a random prize, I won heroes of the resistance as mid game random prize, and then one of my buddies from the FLGS gave me his acrylic range ruler and templates because he was given a set of the store's templates.

Nice haul!

What did you fly and what did you fly against? Anything notable?

Lucky!

I am going to my first store championship on the 24th, and i'm only gunning for that Kallus token. How big is it? I've only done store kits so far, so I hope I do well.

I've also been in the shoes of the guy that gave you a range ruler- i've given 2 of the spring 2015 ones away. I don't need more than 1.

I flew Norra/Shara/Biggs, which worked really well when I was actually flying right. My positioning with the ARCs were usually spot on but I struggled keeping Biggs in arc.

My two wins were against a Contracted Scout/Teroch/Fenn and double Resistance Sympathisers.

Three losses against Vader/Quickdraw/X7 Delta, Kath Scarlett/Ketsu Onyo, and Rey/Poe.

First and last loss were 100-0 but I managed to get Ketsu to three hull and score 25 points in the second one.

Heres a 1 template for scale. Its pretty damn big

Well, time to practice my crackswarm. I have to get that token, but the only 2 LGS's with store championships near to me (i moved recently) are apparenty Gold Squadron Podcast's home base, and the only one in downtown Chicago.

Why hasn't anyone created a sith lord based off of genghis khan?

Good luck winning! The store just randomly gave the token away after everything else was handed out. They generated a random number and gave it to the person in that position. I just got really lucky

Kallus token and HotR both randomly makes you a lucky fuck.

Kallus is top 4, right?

Im going to my first soon! The 10th
I hope I can pull half of that stuff, thats awesome!

Ive no idea where it was supposed to be given out, but they had a load of bonus prizes. I think they had so many Kallus was just a drop in the ocean

4 people got U Wings, one person got an alt art Rey, one person got an alt art Kylo Ren, two people got Upsilon Shuttles, and I think there were a few alt art R2D2/Intergrated astromech dual cards along with whatever the rest of the tournament kit prizes were.

Greentext story, because as an user in the previous thread mentionned, we don't have enough of those.

Proofreading is for nerds anyway.

That sounds like a good variety. Knowing what you know now, is there anything you would change about your list or how you flew?

Gold Squadron is trash, slap them around. Tell Dión and William I said hi.

Is crack swarm good?
My favourite team is a crack swarm, but some older players recommended a 3 ship swarm would do better in the champs

Who knows? I'm sticking with crack swarm (albeit a 5-ship TIE/FO version) because it's what I know how to fly.

I've won some tournaments with it, but all 8-10 people ones. It might not win worlds, but crack swarm is at least B tier.

I'm more scared that i'm going to have to fly against Marcel in an elimination round.

Also, is using challenge coins as shields bad taste? My old store in poured all of their tournament kits together, and i attended their tournaments over and over with the goal of being able to go all acrylic. I managed to get 5 challenge coins, but there are no acrylic shields in store kits. Should I bother using them as shields, or are they just giant metal pogs? Can I trade them for shields?

So there's a Store champs near me at the end of July, only 35 slots (might already be full tbqh) $15 buy in. Dunno if I wanna do it

Crack swarm can rip most anything apart if they just fly into them. They suffer from being a bit fragile and unreliable. Their only modifier is focus and they can die so quickly. With the skew towards higher PS there's a decent chance of losing 2 before they can fire. It's great when it works but can fail pretty hard, so tier 2.

Marcel is a beast. Casual babbies cry about coin shields, but I think it's dope af. I used my Coruscant trophy as a shield once, just for fun.

Do it faget.

That's all the motivation I needed to actually do this.

Yeah boi!
Tourney;'s are fun as fuck

>Stay away from rocks when tractor beams are in play
>Place rocks more aggressively
>Get better at keeping arc
>Dont cock up the first turn of shooting

Ketsu's tractor beams destroyed me. First turn of engagement started with Biggs on a rock with 0 agility. It was awful, but my opponent was nice enough to point out what I did wrong. It was a really poor match up for my list though.

I really need to get better at keeping Biggs in the fight. In all of my losses, he pretty much went down immediately and got maybe one shot off. He's there to die but I know he can actually do damage. Against Rey/Poe I ended up will all my ships at range one, with no shots in arc. Biggs just melted and limped away on one health.

I really liked the list I used. Lost of rebel shenanigans, Shara's shared locks werent as useful as I'd hoped but Shara did a fair bit of work herself. In the last match against double falcons she rolled 2 crits to two blanks and scored two direct hits.

I rely too much on my rear arc with the ARCs as well. I'm just scared to K-turn them I think. I need to learn when it's the best time to use it. I have learned that sometimes running away is the best option, but against Rey/Poe I just had them both in my rear arc the entire game and they both just melted me.

I'm not sure what I would actually change about the list to be honest. It was my first time flying it as a whole, I've been searching for Norra's third wingman for the last month. I need to actually buy myself a second ARC though because I do really like the list. If I made tweaks it might just be little things like changing the crew or droid on Shara.

Do an episode on rock placement
Im retarded and just learned to place rocks at 3,3 to protect corners

Could be a good business/promotional opportunity for your channel if the store lets you film some of the proceedings.

I'm that user and thanks for the story, as well as the other two anons would contributed. Makes being overseas just a little bit more bearable for me.

Record the top matches, give commentary on important moves/good decisions/bad decisions made.

That one's in the works. Expect it next week.|

I'll try this, given the store owner's approval.

>edgy FFG Roll20 game
>edgy AOR squad dedicated to "inflicting pain on the Empire"

who*

You should join and play as a Zeltron.

What do they do if they encounter a masochistic Imp? Do they proceed as normal or blue-ball him/her?

This might be my new favorite ship

I can't wait for it to hit X-wing. My bet is that it makes the K-wing look like chump change.

My money is it'll basically be the rebel jumpmaster - but without the miracle dial and barrel rolls. And probably a rear arc instead of PWT.

A heavier, large base ship with moderate speed but good health, good for alpha strikes and hit-and-runs. At minimum tech, crew, torp, torp, but probably at least one bomb slot in there because rebels love bombs. If it can fire torpedoes out of it's rear that'd be even better.

...

I'm guessing 2 bomb slots, at least one torp slot, and a Crew slot. It's a dedicated bomber after all. That said, I'm not the biggest fan of speculating and would rather wait to see when/if FFG does it for real.

New "Resistance Bomber" from TLJ

Well, I missed that the ventral line is actually a giant bomb chute, so that probably guarantees bombs. On the other hand, it looks like that rear gunner has some kind of projectile turret - maybe it'll be a one of everything ship - Torp, Missile Bomb? That's all just pure guesswork based on the greebles of a lego model though.

What do I need to start painting my armada figures? Never painted any miniatures before so I really have no idea.

The Core Rulebook says that Kamino is still under strict Imperial control.
Assuming a shuttle was able to slip in and land undetected, how much free reign could outsiders have on a platform? Would troopers stop and ID them on sight, apprehend on sight, or just watch for suspicious activity?

If it's actually just a bigger badder K-wing, I'm buying 3 off the bat.

acrylic paint (there's several good manufactures for minis - Vallejo, P3 and GW among others), brushes (you can got to an art supply store, you want a size 1, a size 0 and maybe some smaller ones) and the rest is stuff you can find around the house - a cup of water and a palette helps.

Make sure the cup is one you don't mind losing, it'll build up paint gunk after a while (wash it out when you change the water), and a palette can be as simple as a ceramic tile.

The X-wing and Armada minis can basically just be painted on from the get go, you won't need to prime it or anything so you don't need to worry about that part.

And basically just practice a lot

...

The first. An unknown person or persons showing up when there's been no scheduled landings on that platform would lead to questions.

If armed, immediate hostilities.

That, of course, is assuming that you somehow managed to slip past the defenses at Kamino -which I doubt would be possible at any point when the Empire is in control of it, which is pretty much the entire time the Empire is around in NuCanon, and in Legends they kept making and using Kaminoan clones until about 12BBY, but there's no reason to assume that they wouldn't have had a patrol watching over the planet after that, given the Kaminoan rebellion.

It's going to make everything else in the game look like chump change. The ship is bigger than anything else in X-wing right now, barring the epics. I imagine it's going to be costed like a Ghost with Phantom attached, plus like 5 points. Should have three crew slots, four-die primary, bombs, probably come with some sort of double attack mechanic, and cost in the ballpark of 65-75 points for a decent build. Oh, and the model will cost $50 just for it, and it will barely fit in the box.

It's going to function more like a mobile fortress than an actual ship in the game. Those things don't even move relative to the actual dogfight in the trailer.

Dial: White 1 banks, green one and two straight, red two banks, red three straight.

Got it. My players are being flown in by an NPC that is able to duck sensors. That's my way of letting them recon before things go loud.

The platform that they're going to houses a lab where this freak is dissecting dead Jedi in the hopes of making Force-Sensitive clones, but is only producing mutant abominations with unstable powers. Know of any adversaries or even a species that would be a good template for such a thing?

Always thin your paints with water. If you use spray paint or spray primer, be extra vigilant for clumping.

Awesome thanks. Will I need to put a varnish of any kind over the paint after it dries to keep it on?

I actually don't really like Wingreene's voice. I mean it's okay, but not super amazing.

Actually, now that I think about it some more, it is almost certainly coming with the reinforce action standard. So I imagine it will be like a less mobile Ghost with reinforce and tech slots. Also a bunch of new Resistance crew, which should be fun.

I don't know about all that, while the ship is certainly tall the wingspan on the Upsilon is enormous, and the VCX is a brick. Assuming the LEGO model is remotely on-model at all those ball turrets aren't any bigger than the ones on an LAAT - and it only seems to have just enough room for the five crew - as opposed to ships like the Falcon and the Ghost which have living space for everyone on them. Dial would probably be like a K-Wing but with more red.

If it has reinforce would entirely depend on 3 things, 1 it's firing arcs (if FFG gets simple and gives it PWT, for instance), 2 Reinforce in standard actually being that good - can't say for sure until people start seriously flying the Wookship and 3 how retarded FFG wants to sound with the "fore" and "aft" terminology.

I've never used varnish and my paint always stays on fine.
It probably helps, just make sure to regloss anywhere that needs it.

Are we sure it's a bomber and not just a scaled down version of the shitty "Hatchet" capital ship?

Lego is selling it as the "Resistance Bomber" as per their box art.

The picture has visible bomb chutes (or at least, mysterious black ball launching chutes) and the picture of the front cover says "Resistance Bomber". And if it's scaled down, it's really scaled down since it has a crew of like 5-6.

I would, but I've played enough minis games to know how paint can rub off sometimes

If you do use a gloss varnish first, then a matte varnish on the areas you don't want to be shiny. It'll provide better protection and you'll know if the varnish is wearing off because areas will start looking shiny again

It looks to me like it's inspired by the B17 or B52, which had crews of 10 and 5, respectively. It wouldn't be weird for a bomber this size to be crewed by 5-6 guys like you said.
I think it's just a heavy bomber as opposed to what we've seen which have essentially been fighter-bombers.

Yeah, most of what we see are multiroles, the equivalent of an "attack aircraft", or tactical bombers - this looks more like a big ass strategic bomber. Judging by their one shot in the trailer they aren't exactly nimble but they probably carry a lot of boom to destroy enemy fortifications or their giant capital ships.

A station that's working with the dead bodies of Force sensitives would be under extra-heavy security, no outsiders except a very, very small number of top-ranking Imperials.

How did our PCs get the information about that research station? That's the kind of black-books project that would make the Death Star project look like an open book by comparison.

You could have an Inquisitor of some kind there. Or even crazy Force sensitives, if you want to take a page from TFU2.

Otherwise, you'll want some high level soldiers. A named squad of veterans.

Or, for the irony, a squad of reprogrammed Super Battle Droids.

I still think the 'bomber' is going to be too big for regular X-wing. Like, look at the size of it compared to the T-70 flying in front of it. If nothing else, it'd be so top heavy that the slightest knock causes it to fall over

We're not sure if the "Bomber" is a scaled down lego version of the incredibly ugly Hatchet capital ships in that still.

Depends. I prefer Phase I ARC to Phase II ARC and Katarn-armor is always classy. I used to be Phase II > Phase I but I like Phase I Clones in TCW (both versions) to Phase II
I kinda like the non-standard armors desu, like Commander Keller's and Commander Faie's (not the Kashyyyk Trooper one)

Our last FnD game ended in a failed suicide raid on the Royal Palace on Onderon. One NPC managed to get a data cache and fled the planet before it was carpet-bombed.

In our current AoR, that NPC has cracked the data and found it to have some bombshells from the Clone Wars. So far, it's just "Kamino was instrumental to Sheev's rise to power." Their investigation will lead them to the Jedi dissection lab. The scientist in question wants to create a perfect body-double for Palps.

It's worth pointing out that I have a PC-statted Royal Guard and Death Troopers with Hazard Trooper armor standing guard. The crazy Force Sensitives idea made me look into "Fallen Apprentice" in the CRB. Thinking I'll use that, but desribing it as a Frankenstein monster with claws instead of a lightsaber.

>Death Troopers with Hazard Trooper armor standing guard.
Dear god. (Though FFG Hazard trooper armor is a MASSIVE fucking disappointment, they really didn't care for armor much at all in this game.)

For Death Troopers, just take the Stormtrooper Sergeant from the CRB, paint them black, and give them a 3rd rank in Ranged (Heavy).

/swg/ I need list advice/inspiration

I'm gona play my Imperial friend in a X-Wing match. All TIE Interceptors vs Protectorate Starfighters. I've never flown Fenn or any fast ships really. Any list suggestions? Counter Interceptor strategy? He'll probably work Ruthlessness in somewhere. I'm expecting Sootnir. And he's discovered stress recently and how it can fuck shit up. Any advice?

I'm leaning towards Fenn and three others but who those will be is what I'm still paying with. I'm trying to steer away from Fenn and three Mind Linked CD Aces since he may get stressy. Halp user.

He's going to expect you to go mindlink, so you will see Jax. His list is actually probably Fel/Jax/Phennir.

Do you want 3 or 4 ships in your list?

I generally use PTL with Fenn, but Wired is a great way to deal with being stressed. Use boost and barrel rolls to keep your guys spaced apart so he doesn't get you with Ruthlessness. If you were willing to bring in a non-Protectorate, I'd suggest using a Tractor Beam to turn Ruthlessness against him.
Fast ships are personally my favorite because few things piss off an opponent more than having mosquitoes pick at him from all directions.

I'm open to 3 but 4 sounds safer on a trial fight.

I thought about Wired too. Its a 2 point net difference if I choose to swap that out--but I'll have to land somewhere on Fenn because without that PTL I could see him lose his effectiveness. Decisions decisions.

How's he going to work stress in when Interceptors have no means of dishing it out?

Run title and fearlessness like just out of the box, and just jam into Range 1 and shout WITNESS ME.

Also if he's gonna take soontir, take Old Teroch. RIP tokens.

I'm curious though how he plans to apply Stress running just interceptors... You on the other hand can run Flechette torps if you REALLY wanted.

If your friend is with the times though, watch out for Targeting Computers on those squints. It's not much but the extra offensive tick makes them punch a tad harder which helps them keep relevant vs shit like Protectorates.

Is that fanart or ILM? Getting a good look at this ship is my white whale.

...

Make sure you get choice of initiative so you can make him move first. Fenn > Soontir with initiative. Fenn and Terry with PtL, title, autos, and flechettes can handle squints pretty easily. Throw in an Ace or Kad with fearlessness and you're good to go.
