Or too simplistic, stupid, or "clip art-y", like pic related.
Anybody have anything better?
Also, any cool or funny symbols welcome.
Runes, rune use, and that one user's magical rune circle system would be cool too. I lost my copy of it and I always meant to incorporate it into my runecasters that I'm working on developing for my setting. Actually, any cool runecaster art, stories, or anything would be cool too.

I remember a pdf for making your own symbols in a consistent way. Basically a circle where you'd place a basic form representing the idea behind the spell (healing, translocation, an element, death, etc) and then you'd attach others indicating its potency or area of effect and so on. Simple spells were small and easy to read after just knowing the basic rules, while stronger ones used more complex symbols and could be easily misinterpreted.
I'm trying to find where I saved it, but meanwhile, if anyone has that, I'd appreciate seeing it.
Dylan Johnson
That's what I meant by "that one user's magical rune circle system" It was pretty great.
Noah Reed
You could probably pick some nonsense font like runic or Aurebesh, format some related text in it, and inscribe it in concentric circles. and add a few stars and triangles to make your own up. >"Elf slave wat do" and "hey /x/ how do I summon a succubus" for a symbol of romantic binding >the gorilla warfare copypasta for a combat spell >"glorious nippon steel folded over ten thousand times" for an enchanted blade etc.
This is a fun idea for cryptic signs and magical circles on walls and such for an art image. Less so for my intended purpose of immediately identifiable symbols.

There it is. Good stuff.

For simplicity, here it is.

Kamen Rider Wizard did something like this for the magic circles. By the end of the series, I think some dudes managed to translate all their symbols.

Is there a reason you don't just use alchemical symbols? You can basically find a source (historical or modern) for whatever elements/processes/ideas you need to represent, and it's also very easy to come up with new ones.
Or just write shit in greek, latin, hebrew, hieroglyphics, norse runes, or whatever.
To go further down the historical path, you might check out some classic grimoires. Text is usually fairly boring, but there's plenty of interesting magic circles and tables of symbols. It's not too hard to find most of the books online, and /x/ also has tons of this shit.
What are you gonna use the symbols for?

Yep. That's a bit weird. I don't know where that user found that picture.

>Is there a reason you don't just use alchemical symbols? >What are you gonna use the symbols for? I've been looking for symbols for schools of magic and other magical concepts. Alchemy symbols are largely elements, materials, and planets. Cool, but not what I'm looking for.

They should share most if not all since they both are lists of the lesser key of Solomon from the Ars Goetica.
Just one is alphabetical and the other is in order of appearance and rank.
Hudson Long
Well lucifer is in one and not the other, so they definitely don't share all. I haven't read the lesser key but I'm pretty sure lucifer isn't one of those listed, so I don't think that list is based on that. It just appears that way at first glance
