You get to add a new faction to 40k and remove an existing one

>Remove dark eldar.

>Add a skaven webway empire in their place to serve as an evil mirror to the imperium.

Remove Tau

Add Rak'ghol

>remove tau
>replace with kroot

>remove tyranids (GW working on it already in the fluff)
>add squattish empire

>Remove Chaos

>Replace with Men of Iron faction

>remove necrons
>replace with slanni

Remove Imperium (all of it)

Replace with the Terrans from StarCrat.

Remove Orks

Replace with Orcs

Chris please leave

Unironically this.

>Remove Imperium (all of it)
>Replace with the Terrans from Halo

Better?

>>>Add a skaven webway empire in their place to serve as an evil mirror to the imperium.

Did you mean a *good* mirror? Because the Imperium is already evil.

Ugh, go lick the Emprahs rotting balls some more

Alternatively:
>Remove Tau
>Replace with actual alien coalition (Tau/Kroot/Vespids etc can remain as a member species but not the main focus) who joined up for mutual protection against the Imperium

So don't actually replace the tau, just let you write the fluff for them?

Nah

>remove Tau
>replace with post humanist near ascended Dark Age of Technology faction

It would be interesting to see how ten or twenty thousand years of actual human advancement would turn out. Although by that point would they even care what happens in the material reality?

Please no, everyone and their mother has written about wanting a DAoT Humanity faction and it almost always turns into a wankfest that conveniently checks off each and every threat to their continued existence with a solution that's clean, reasonably and terribly dry.

It's like the Reasonable Marines as an entire civilization.

I would buy a full Rak'Gol army in seconds.

>Astra Militarum
urgh

#
Ain't even an Imperium fan I prefer Orks personally
I'm all for internal strife and disunity, but the way everything seems to come back to Magic Hell is pretty tedious in my opinion. The Horus Heresy, as the big example, could just occur entirely because Horus was a charasmatic leader leaning on the resentment felt by the military, without any magical corruption at all. I'm not even against the idea of psykers and the Warp in general, I just think it's a boring antagonist verses strife from any other source.

#
>you write the fluff
...I mean, isn't that the point of the thread?
I was also thinking of having units that aren't entirely composed of blueberries.

Remove space marines, they're already dying to Primaris anyway.

Add Hrud Faction with a some lore on the return of Qah.

>God emp is a 'decent' guy. Horned rat is a god who is manifested out of the skaven's collective malice towards all other things that exist.

>Imperial citizens are human, every skaven ever is a psycho of the highest calibur.

>Remove Tau
>Add Demiurg to replace them as the "high tech aliens"

I like this the best.
The fluff mentions many different xenos but we really only see the same few again.
A diverse alliance would make more interesting models too.

>Remove Space Marines
>Replace with bigger Space Marines.

Would that work?

Remove Spess Mehrens.

>Replace space demons with generic robutts

Unironically fuck you.

Remove Dark Eldar
Add Abominable Intelligence Faction.

As an aside, I wouldn't mind if the Tau provoked a real response from the Imperium, got crushed and had to unite their shattered remnants with other Xeno races to go from being the rather one dimensional Tau Faction to being a very varied Xenos Faction.

>Remove Necron
>Replace with Men of Iron

Remove Chaos
Add Skaven

> Remove one among DA, BA, GK...
> Add a chaos aliens empire, maybe an empire of various slave races under the dominion of a powerful chaos race to mirror the tau

Remove tau, add dark mechanicum

I would "remove" Tau and "add" what they were always meant to be, a detailed rule set/codex for designing your own minor xenos race with a few preset options that the players who can't into conversions and custom builds could buy off the shelf while allowing those who really want to go the whole hog to flesh out their own little corner of the 40k universe.

The Tau were never meant to be a major concern to the Imperium, they were meant to be a stand in for one of the thousands of minor xenos chipping away at the fringes of imperial authority.

Remove Sisters of Battle, they're already pretty much gone anyway.

Add in traditional Grey aliens as a race with tech somewhere between Tau and Imperium. Laser guns, anal probes and flying saucer vehicles

>Generic Robutts
>Not walking supercomputers
>Not networked murderous tanks
>Not swarms of nanobots
>Not looking like a MC Esher drawing collided with a Boston dynamics inside Tesla's brain
This is a thread of imagination, user

Remove Khorne Daemonkin, the laziest copy paste codex of 7th.

Bring back Squa

Remove Grey Knights.

Add Kroot Mercenaries back.

> Special ressource: CPU
> Get it by buying supercomputers, other factions may have a hero or a monster to lead their force, you got a supercomputer in a shielded box.
> Use to command your various units that are more of less autonomous.
> Elite commando droids
> Troops: cheap and solid but dumb robots you have to babysit with CPU
> FA bullet-robots that are shoot on the battlefield
> HS: battle-factory, basically SW World Devastators

Weak to moral but very versatile faction.
> HQ: Alien overlords that spend more time policing their own troops than fighting the enemy. Probably some psykers.
> Elite: Loyal enforcers, powerful warriors that don't go away when you look away. Maybe more psykers but this time slave and throwable: pass your spell and die or serve as a psychic lightning rod and die.
> Cheap shitty troops
> FA: mercenaries (Loxatl) and semi independent client races.
> HS: Chaos machines made but heavily dependant client race.

Remove IOM add Angyls of order and their worshippers.

squat the whole system!

Replace with something cool like AGE OF SIGMAR.

Okay this guys funny, I like him!

>Super compoopers
>Nano machines
>Not generic as fuck

Remove Tau and add Covenant from Halo.
The Halo 2 Covenant before Split.

Similar rounded aesthetic, yet more aggressive and genocidal, more fitting lore-wise. Their Remove Humans attitude would be just fine.

As a fan of the Tau, I really like this idea.

Remove Tau

Add a much better alien empire.

Replace Nids with the Flood

>evil mirror to the imperium.
Literally what Chaos already is.

Remove Tau or a Space Marine subfaction. Add more Rak'gol.

Remove Chaos, add squats

Depends on how you flavour them, really. Demons are generic too until you give them something to make them interesting.

Just a "supercomputer"? Sure, sounds boring. A huge, walking black box, gun turrets clinging like limpets to it's side in the middle of a battlefield and knowing, for a fact, it hates you?

Sounds more interesting to me at least.

Remove chaos space marines.
Remove space marine.

Due to the Primaris attack of the clones execute order 66 schism that is MARK MY WORDS, COMING.

All space marines are now traitor marines, literally all of them.
Replace them with a suicide squad esque faction made up of absolutely all manner of xeno prisoners and space marine degenerates on, just like SS, various god awful missions no one will return from under the watchful and uncaring eye of the Inquisition.

Is it a good idea to make squads of Loxatl and khornite marines, Orkboys and disgraced ultramarines cohabit for the purpose of a Last Chancers bit of fuckery? OFCOURSE NOT, but let's watch!

Remove Hrud

Add Hrud

Remove Imperium
Add Zoatls

>Remove Eldar
>Add Rak'Gol

fite me

>remove necron
>add silicon life forms
>formerly men of iron
>on a world that has been separated from mankind since old night these machines have continued to exist
>over the millennia they advanced their own technology and achieved sentience in the form of grotesque half human looking robots
>they now control a subsector
>they rarely engage in large scale wars
>instead encounters with them are space horror focused and begin with the corruption of their opponents machines

I've been playing with a rough idea like this for a while now but the slot of sentient robots with vaguely human design is already held by the necron

remove space marines
replace with space lizardmen

Remove Tau
Blow on cartridge
Put back in.

This but with post singularity neets.

Decimate Marines, have like 500 left galactically
Add Hrud

How does killing one in ten marines reduce the galactic count to 500?

"I got bored, so I created an army and delta forked myself a couple thousand times. After cloud networking my experience to cull mistakes, I'm pretty good at fighting apparently."

Remove Imperium, replace with Random EVE Online alliance determined by dubs.

>Remove Tau
>Replace with reworked Tau that emphasizes their caste system and alien allies rather than Mecha
>Make their Mecha less Gundam and more power armor/votoms scopedog
>Their army list relies on combine arms with Tau gunlines supported by kroot tarpits with crisis suits acting as mobile fire support bases, stingwing jump troops and humans with carbines acting as heavy close range infantry

>d.Assblasted Squat

Warp math

>Tau castes are no longer distinct subraces but actual social castes determined by genetic and aptitude testing performed at puberty
>Air caste is scouts as well as pilots and form the Pathfinder Cadres and crisis suit pilots
>Earth caste Combat engineers

Get rid of Dark Elder, replace with Loli Eldar

...

It would actually work really well to contrast Imperium idea of human purity and hate of thinking machines.
Bunch of humans and men of iron remnants/other AIs who went to deep in transhumanism so they almost blur definition of humanity.

we can guillicast eternals!
wait...

yeah it would work great, I might homebrew it for dark heresy some day
but it won't work in the setting at large because everyone would only see them as NuNecron

>they tunr out to be one and the same

Angyls of Starfather?

user thats what skynet is, adding excesive adjectives isn t gonna make it more interesting

>Halo
>Anything but the worst written Sci-fi series in decades

No

How about this

>Remove Necrons
>Add Transformers

You know you want to see a Guard regiment shit themselves when the Baneblade and Lemen Russ backup they called for combines into a Devastator like Combiner.

I do like Skynet and find it interesting, though terminators being just robo-skeletons never took my fancy.

>Remove tau
>Replace them with a faction that's just the IoM in alien form that got fucked by one protospace marine.

Sounds shit my man.

>literally budget HR Geiger drawings
>shit System Shock 2 did better

I'd take Event Horizon over Alien any day

I...

Well, post-Bungie, yeah.

user, murderous super computers are almost literally the MOST generic sci-fi thing ever.

Remove Chaos Daemons.
Replace with Men of Iron/Chaos Robots.

Make it so daemons simply can't manifest physically on their own, they need to possess things to operate in the material world. Make it so a bunch of men of iron survived and at this point they've gone full chaos and all of them above the maybe basic foot soldiers on the hierarchy are fully possessed.

Remove Space Marines
Replace with Culter Dei

You do take in account that the proto-SM somehow managed to deactivate galatic cleansing death ray weapon while fighting off 4 factions. IoM got fucked by one turbo-autist with a claw... If its written that they get fucked by single person, theres nothing they can do about it.
Same goes in any setting. If its written by authors that a single character manages to be exact right place at right moment, he can start a cataclysmic event that will destroy thousands of years old empire, wipe out armies, sink fleets and so on.

Pre-Split Covenant had 30 years of genocide campaign succesfully behind them.

In 40k they would be quite good faction.

>dark heresy
It would made a nice dilemma for acolytes.
Being thrown into situation where they must choose who is the greater enemy: inhuman lawful mind who was once human or chaos cultists and fools tricked into serving chaos gods plan with fake local prophets.

Shit, I forgot about Asimov again, didn't I

>Remove the Imperium

>Replace with several independent human factions with unique cultures, beliefs, and levels of technology.

Fuck you.

No. Even with Bungie. Halo was never well written. If, for any reason, you think it was well written then it's simply a case of you forgetting how generic and predictable everything was.

No, I don't but then I'm not autistic

Dumb Jianposter

I would like to see their orbital drop hit and run tactics against the IOM. Unfortunately their land battle tactics are said to lose out to the UNSC at least half the time, not that it mattered for most battles, as the covies just glassed the shit out of the humans any ways.

I wonder how they would match up in space, especially if they keep slipspace tech which it's faster, safer and more precise. At least in segmentum scale travel

And kinda the imperium itself already.

>remove THE most iconic part of warhammer 40K
>replace with lesser factions that could never even hope to come close to it
user, there are independant human empires on the fringes of the galaxy that have fallen out of the dying empire's reach already, you'd only be removing something, and adding nothing.

...

>Remove Ratlings in the Imperial Guard
>Add/Replace them with Felinids

Literally Necrons minus the egypt theme

That sounds retarded and completely out of place

>Remove Tau
>Replace with the Clans
