Is the Adeptus Mechanicus unironically the best and most interesting thing about the setting?

Is the Adeptus Mechanicus unironically the best and most interesting thing about the setting?

I'm not too sure about that but they are by far my favorite thing in the setting.

Not only they. Many sorts of Xenos, conception of Chaos - all this is interesting

i also like Mobile Infantry IN MORE SPACE

Yes.

What's so interesting about them? They're almost never mentioned in the fluff beyond offhand references.

Hell no, you engineer fags have shit-ass taste.

Things are "the best and most interesting thing in the settings "
When they get books written for them, expanding their lore outside of codexs
I demand an equal amount of novel for xenos and for IoM

That's the dark eldar.
Admech is a close second tho. Easily the best human faction.

While I think what's best about 40K ends up being subjective for most people and I don't want to squash peoples fun...
They are my favorites

As far as I can tell, that picture pretty much sums of IG in the new edition.

>you will never get AdMech faction in DoW games or any vidya for that matter

Mechanicum > the rest

Rogue Traders are still the most interesting part of the setting for me.

Yes.

For me? Yes. Their strengths, their may weaknesses and their concept are all great parts about their characterisation and they feel far more genuine as factions over modern interpretations of, say, Marines or Tau, who are measured by how hard the writers can try to make them seem powerful.

In fact, I'd argue it's the weaknesses and flaws of the Mechanicus that makes them the most interesting faction.

yes

They are the Guild from Dune, one of the pillars of the setting. Without them, the Imperium would make a lot less sense.

>theocratic autists with wrenches
>interesting

What's not interesting about theocratic techno-autists with cyberware wrenches, user?

>40K
>interesting

Pick one, son.

That probably makes them more interesting tbph

It's close, but I'd vote the Inquisition (excluding the post-Realms of Chaos Grey Knights, of course). Visually though I'd put Eldar and Orks up there too.

They're not my most favorite, but they rank up there, and I was genuinely sad when I read about how much knowledge was destroyed, in the book Mechanicum. It really highlights just why the technological situation is so fucked up too.

>excluding the post-Realms of Chaos Grey Knights
Why?

Who needs the Imperium anyway? Just cut them out and we can be robosoldiers all the time.

Nah, I like Rogue Traders and the Inquisition more, if only because they are de facto enjoy a level of freedom and power and responsibility that is unimaginable on Earth today.

Admech and officio assassinorium are my favorite parts of the imperium so yeah, sure.

I read Titanicus, is there anything similar that follows an assassin? There's loads of inquisitor shit thanks to eisenhorn and ravenor

I think its becasuethe mechanicus has a direct link back to the DAOT

It's literally what happens when John Blanche is given free reign. They need to let him do even more.

knowledge is power? really? they pray at machines in the hope they get fixed and any tech advances is heresy. what bullshit

> Agrellan Campaign
>Imperial failing everywhere
>ig crushed
>chapter master of Raven Guard slain
>Skitarii casually walks in takes all tech they want
>after imperial fiasco Adeptus just fucking burn gas cloud

>they pray at machines in the hope they get fixed
Nice meme, you learn that on 1d4chan?
>any tech advances is heresy
Nice meme, you learn that on 1d4chan?

The amount of people who don't understand the basic fundamentals of the Adeptus Mechanicus and then decry their entire faction is astounding.

...

I haven't read that one yet, I really should.

Mechanicum>Mechanicus, and they need way more Heresy books. Cybernetica is almost entirely about fucking Marines and there isn't a Tech-priest on the cover for duck's sake. I want Ordo Reductor book series with all the Tech-priests of all the different specialisations using their expertise to be a massive fucking Outside Context Problem for Great Crusade problem of the week.

That was really funny. Shame they cut from the second awesome Admech scene right after the Tau started losing hard just for more boring Pask. Hopefully IA14 will be as awesome.

its not the Sisters of Battle, so no.

Can't hear you over the sound over grognards wanking over your shit faction you mongoloid.

you say Mongoloid like its some kind of insult.

It's outdated medical terminology for being retarded.

how positively barbaric.

you should polish up your language, else your redundancy leak through your carefully crafted facade of grace.

If you're an autist of course! and seeing this thread looks like the norm so enjoy it guys

Because it specifically ruins their mystery.

Actually, its a ethnic type used to denote people from east and southeast asia. It just got applied to downs people because they look like that

>the faction that's all about digging up game boys and not having a personality
no

It is, you fuckong mong.

Speaking of based Admech, anyone know where i might be able to torrent Tech Priest? I just finished Skitariius and my oily boner requires the next part!

Oh right, shit, Im talking about Audiobooks please people.

What your favourite Ad Mech unit anons, both in 30k and 40k?

For me, its Sicarians and Vorax, i like their wierd and intimidating looks and has a really fun gameplay, in past edition at least.

Myrmidons and the Cybernetica Datasmith, they really work as actual techpriest infantry. Also the Macrocarid, because sexy art deco tank.

The Vanguard and Ranger models are better then I ever imagined Skitarii being, although it was a bit sad to lose the mystery of what they actually looked like

They do something other than fight people, which makes them instantly more interesting than every other imperial faction other than the inquisition.

I just bought some Skitarii after almost 10 years out of the game. I read they got nerfed pretty hard in 8th edition. How fucked am I when the new rules come out?

...

I think everyone got nerfed though. But I am not sure if you can still hold up.

Just you know:
-Ranger lose their AP but cheaper by 1 point, and they can't move their Aquebuses around anymore because the new sniper rule (requires you to be stationary). They reduced into being a speshul snowflake tempestus but with poor man's bolt rifles because of...... GW, i hope the next errata will fix it.

-Vanguard still awesome as they always be, but now can shoot after run due to the new assault weapons rule. Oh did i say supercharged assault PLASMA (reminder: lost it burst by one)

-Sicarians got nerfed, HARD, loosing their USRs and speed in which that makes them decent and unique in the first place. It has mixed results:

1. Infiltrators lost their stealth (why...) and dump their aura into 3" -1 Ld (WHY??), but get killier especially when they can bring their pistol into close combat now and power sword being equally viable with +1 attack all around. Oh, don't forget to deep striking! (Somehow they more ruststalker than the fucking ruststalkers, still playable but in different way)

2. Ruststalkers lost their furious charge and grenades, their only ranged weapons, with the reason unknown. And their weapons lost their Transonic ability (and with it, their fluff) in exchange of roll 6+ to mortal wound lol and -1 AP (bring ot to you from AoS). Kinda shit since it depends on flipping the coint, but its up to you.

Hope GW will fix them both.

Techpriests in general are always pretty cool, but the Datasmith definitely does

The thing about the imperium is to explain why it works you'd need a 700 page essay on a whole bunch of bullshit with the final sentence being

>"In conclusion, HFY!"

...

People who don't understand the lack of progress in 40k and why it makes perfect sense need an analogy:
>be paleontologist
>study the shit out of Spinosaurus
>guy comes up to me one day
>how would you make Spinosaurus BETTER?
>dude what
>are you really gonna tell me you never tried to make Spinosaurus better at being Spinosaurus? that never occurred to you?
>how did you get to my dig site
We know lots of stuff about dinosaurs, and keep learning more, but we aren't trying to improve them. People in these kinds of fields are not in them to make the past better. When my employer gets in a cool artifact from colonial America, we don't ask how we can make it better. We just clean it up and appreciate it. Reproductions might be made in the same way you might cast a very complete skeleton to display in your own poor ass museum.

The admech is just a group of antique enthusiasts who own entire planets dedicated to making reproductions that plebs can use for their own devices. And don't forget, the cause of the Age of Strife is not known. For all you know your newest prize might be one of the objects that contributed to the fall, and needs to be obsessively studied so that little Timmy doesn't get one as a toy, press the wrong button and kill billions of people.

Isn't one of the other reasons because, using your analogy, fuck around too much and the spinosaurus will turn into a flaming rape demon and fuck you and your planet to death?

if you can't stand having someone with a different opinion than you, I suggest you find an island you can live on by yourself.

I thought they were neat.

Then I encountered their fans...

Second this. Would love some mechanicum Audiobooks. Or w40k in genral

...Isn't that just 40k in a nutshell?

This is the best analogy I've seen to date.

>has an actual crane attached to his back

kek

So far "Mechanicum" is the best HH book I read so far.
I like AdMech, but I think It should stay as NPC faction and maybe some models in agents of Imperium.

They were at one point, but they've lost a lot of their mystery like the GKs. Kinda ruined them for me.

Also their tabletop range is miserably small given their fluff

Why, may I ask? They're cool enough for their own range IMO. Certainly more so than marine variant #3432.

Check their Heresy army out. Fuckawesome models, loads of variety and a clause that lets them use Lords of War from all the IA books as secret Mechanicum toys when modelled correctly.

>Reproductions might be made in the same way you might cast a very complete skeleton to display in your own poor ass museum.

>tfw my museum is poor as fuck but has a number of unique fossils grandfathered into private ownership

Feels good, man. I imagine this is what running a Forge World feels like.

>"Fuck you, Magos Steve. This is MY unique rivet pattern and no you can't fucking make a copy. MINE!"

To clarify before some other nerd gets mad,
we actually did let the government make copies of everything

Because they just became 'Marines but better', with way too much exposure and all the mystery taken out.

>but we aren't trying to improve them.
with the indomitus successfully launched, we now will

hey anons something just occurred to me...
if the adeptus mechanics would believe in some arch enemy some ancient evil something that is the anti-thesis of their work it would be called "Murphy". the evil that makes the most sacred and complicated machinery to fuck itself all the time possibly at the worst moment. his name is only whispered and it is long forgotten what was his true nature only the name remains like a curse uttered in fear.

Favourite part of this art is this old colossus image nicely sunk in. It taunts me as I''m sure I've seen the original, but my Rogue Trader rulebook, 40k Compendium and Ork/Squat rulebook don't seem to have it in.

...

They're my second favorite part of the faction, but my favorite part of the faction (Adeptus Custodes) don't really have a big presence.

I especially like Legio Cybernetica, those robot models are really cool.
