ayyyy
so im trying to get into the game i alredy get the basic, what books i need to play i well, i have:

Blackhand's Street Weapons 2020
Solo of fortune I and II
Rulebook 2.1
Deep Space: The Interplanetary Supplement
also what´s in chrome books exactly?

Hello?
is anybody there?

Cyberpunk is a cool setting but honestly a pretty shit system. You're better off using something like Shadowrun. Yeah it's got magic and orcs and shit but at least the system isn't just rolling attribute+d10 for everything.

>Better off using Shadowrun
Fuck off

The chrome book are extra augments and shit
One of them has cyberpets

do i download them1 by 1 or i download Rache Bartmoss' Brainware Blowout, it says that it haves al 4 chrome books

also what other book do i need?

Honestly with just the core book you're pretty much set.
Every other book is just more gear.

You have already enough stuff to start. For beginning don't give too many stuff for your players to choose from. They would be overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of gear available. Chromebook 2 has a good section for adaptive subdermal armors and skinweave. Chromebook 4 has a cool system to create all kinds of armors.

Cyberpunk 2020 is an excellent system that is very simple to learn. It's much simpler than Shadowrun.

The only modification I recommend is lowering SP value of skinweave and soft body armor.

This website has also a lot of useful resources: ambient.ca/cpunk/

I recommend the drug manufacturing system, the alternate humanity loss system, the luck deck (alternate system for LUCK stat), the expanded martial arts list, and the additional ammo types chart. Some of this stuff is derived from Dark Metropolis, a pretty good supplement about life in a cyberpunk city.

I also strongly advise against using Interlock Unlimited. It adds unnecessary complexity to the system, by adding stuff from CP2013's combat system.

Ask yourself what kind of campaign you want to DM. If you want to make a cop campaign (totally underrepresented), get To Protect & To Serve. If you want the campaign to take place in the USA and you want to use the canon setting, get Home of the Brave. If you're a weeaboo, get Pacific Rim (it's shit, but it's canon shit). The Night City sourcebook can be useful, just keep in mind that it has a very passé-flavor - otherwise just use the gigantic Night City map made by some French dude (Eric Beigeberger, or something like that). It can be found on Datafortress 2020.

Finally, don't get discouraged by the netrunning system. Netrunners don't need to go through the hacking process to be useful. They can take control of any remotely controlled device/machine (robocabs, cameras, doors...) within a certain area of their cyberdeck, provided they have the right software and they can hack the device.

Thanks for all the support, now any tips about being a DM, there isnt any place close to me that plays any kind Veeky Forums style games, but i do have some friends that would like to try it.

Some guy made a game called Hunter/Seeker that uses a modified and streamlined Cyberpunk 2020 system. It could be worth a look. The PDF can be found here somewhere: hunter-seeker.obsidianportal.com

Some people on /the/ complained about the background being too simplistic. I didn't make it that far, but I found the system interesting.

Don't worry. You'll learn by doing. When I started, we were three, and I was the most experienced having played a TTRPG once before.

If you're all new to role playing and cyberpunk, I suggest you watch some cyberpunk movies/anime together to get the vibe. Then start with simple adventures so players get used to role play and the DM gets used to DMing and improvising. If you want to use music, don't fiddle with multiple short tracks during the game. Use long mixes of non-intrusive music like:
m.youtube.com/watch?v=mQ8moLn3e-k
youtube.com/watch?v=Tn2-3BlZGBE&index=6&list=PLiqFJNjZR4Sb8DpBZVkugfyrxe7GZnkn9
youtube.com/watch?v=ajF2NOuYkjk

The basic system is the best part of C2020, along with the wound track system. The only real issue is that netrunning is too clunky and they did'nt quite cover enough odd situations with rules. But really, every good game master house rules a little bit, so it isn't a big deal so as long as the core is good.

I've been running C2020 for 13 months now. The best advice I can give is utilize the lifepaths of your player characters to help create your world and determine plot points. Cyberpunk runs best in a dark, lethal, claustrophobic city setting. Make your players just a head above their competition and be willing to punish them if they get too brash.

The way I run things almost all the combat is due to choices made by the players as opposed to just ambushing them all the time, and I mostly focus on giving them meaty conspiracies to chew on, lots of world building and a large web of interpersonal allegiances and rivalries for them to navigate through.

Netrunning is best without the grid - just simplify it to a few program roles to get the job done.

Also, have all the players do passive awareness roles at the beginning so you don't have to constantly see if they are aware of what is going on around them or not.

Your advice is good and your choice of art is superb.

is this official art for the game?

...

Some. The artist made stuff for cyberpunk and shadow run. I didn't separate them.

In term of aesthetics I also recommend not mixing too many styles together (ex. Deus Ex: Human Revolution pictures and those old black and white pictures). Collect some images and put them on your DM screen or in a binder for the players.

what clothes would be good for a solo?

...

It depends on your universe. Generally speaking a solo would favor practical clothing (parka, coat, sport/tactical shoes, sunglasses...) that allow to conceal armor and weapons. If the situation requires no discretion at all, the solo would wear a combat uniform, heavy body armor and a helmet. A corporate bodyguard would probably have to wear a suit most of the time.

I've been thinking about running this for a while, my only concern is keeping the party together considering you can have both a cop and a punk rocker in your party. How do you guys do it?

I tell the players what kind of campaign we'll play and they will create characters that make sense. Also, I got rid of character classes (requires to adapt the skill list). This way, the characters can even be more diversified.

well is mostly about the setting, try something that can run both a cop and the rockerboy
perhaps a big concert with an assassination attempt?

I want to do a Cyberpunk 2020 horror campaign but I don't know how to go about doing it?

Should I use the alternate combat rules from the GM guide?

There's no reason they can't work together for a common a cause, like they both have corps after them, they're both trying to expose a corrupt police offical, they could also be "old friends" doing each other a favor.

Look into Kuro?

No problem. Use the supplements from Ianus Publishing. They all incorporate horror in some form.

You don't need. Use the normal system and then modify it, if needed.

A cult formed from watching too many Mickey Mouse club re-runs, they have adopted a belief that Micky Mouse is the symbol of purity in this new world. As such, the cyberpunks in this scenario are being tested by the Mousketeers by an arbitrary measure of their purity.

It gives you an excuse to use a creepy Micky voice if you've got one.

That's more a poser gang.

And you don't think being locked into a House of mouse with a crazy poser gang cult dedicated to the ideals of the Disney corporation wouldn't be some type of horrific experience? That's scarier than a squid man coming out the toilet in 2020.

That's more grotesque than horrific.

You might be onto something if you make them creepy enough. Maybe have them do a string of murders.

I got ya, fampunk.

There's also a vampires the masquerade and other alternate realty sourcebooks that could fulfill that wish.

That idea is amazing, definitely going to use that.

Isn't the V:tM crossover book terrible?

Just got done running a fairly lengthy 2020 campaign where the party consisted of a Singer and there entourage. They accidentally started a three way gang war in the combat zone while trying to clear their debts to a drug dealer.

I wouldn't know, just skimmed em a bit.

It's ok. Not great, not bad, but ok. Can use the psychic power section for an Akira-type setting.

existential angst?
you try coffee?

...

...

He should.

...

No... they must KNOW why I'm killing them! (RAMSTIEN starts playing in the background)

Its usually the french who murder americans for having poor taste, not the germans

Did Corporates, Medtechies, and Techies ever get books focusing on them? Solos get SoF 1 & 2, Netrunners get the Bartmoss books, Fixers get Wildside, Rockerboys and Medias get Rockerboy and Live and Direct, Cops get Protect and Serve, and Nomads get Neo Tribes. Would the three Corp Report books be the ones for Corporates?

Brainware Blowout is only netrunning shit, but it's all the netrunning shit in one place (complete with conversions of cards from the old Netrunner card game). For anything else you need the full Chromebooks. The scans floating about are pretty shit, but usable. If you want better scans, go buy the Chrome Compilation PDFs off DTRPG.
>print-on-demand for anything other than Core and Blackhand's never

>the gigantic Night City map made by some French dude (Eric Beigeberger, or something like that).

They're not actually VtM crossovers, are they? They're Not-VtM.

Sounds like Eurotour.

There's also the same map in color. You can find it in Datafortress 2020.

I haven't seen the full one in colour, only the top half (i.e., the actual NC poster map)

And the wireframe-y one.

The Corp Report books simply give some details about some corporations (Arasaka, Militech, IEC, Petrochem, SovOil and one more but I don't remember which one).

Lazarus.

This one : datafortress2020.com/nightcity/Night City Amalgamated.html

>Medias
I'm interested in that. What do they do?

Intrepid journalism. You know, breaking into corporate research sites to record and expose the illegal research going on there.

For example, one of the one-page adventures in the core book is of a nomad tribe getting sick from badly-stored toxic waste (the corporation involved, Petrochem I think, moved it in a hurry and didn't really give a shit about making sure it didn't leak in the new position), and Petrochem trying to get them the fuck off the land they're occupying so they can clean up the mess before anybody finds out. Both the Corporate and the Media would be very interested in finding out, the Corp as a form of corporate blackmail (or suppressing same, if they actually work for Petrochem), and the Media so they can run a damning expose on the incident.

Or, as Live & Direct mentions, you can be playing with much less noble intentions, and be inventing your own news, paid for by corporate donations or not.

That sounds cool.

Just to be clear, there are no supernatural elements whatsoever in this setting, correct?

Oh, sick, like that guy from Nightcrawler

Not without breaking out the Ianus Games supplements.

Fake news and alternative facts.

Jesus Christ that map is awful.

Why the fuck is the "freeway" just a short stretch of freeway less than a few kilometers long? Why does this short ass "freeway" end in a parking lot on one end and the other become a two lane street? Why is this cyberpunk metropolis mostly suburbs?

The retard who made this should just hang themselves.

Late-game Medias well-placed in somewhere like Network News 54 or WNS can basically be Rupert Murdoch.

So could I play as a rampaging jingoist who revels in all sorts of ethnic conflict and suffers from delusions of nuclear paranoia? He pays his bills by advertising on pirated retro stations that play 70's and 80's nostalgia memetics. And porn. Of course porn. The dirtiest nastiest porn you could find in the 70's must seem kind of quaint by the settings standard..

Yo, viddy the screamsheet! OP is pure chilled choomba. Down the Night City Combat Zone he be real as Lace 'n' all the dirtsiders on the edge, you savvy? This netwall be buzzing like a dorpher on payday spending some Corp's nuyen down the Maelstrom and we real Chiba right now. Slot ya later buzzalls!

And heres the twist: Hes actually a chippawa indian who used to live on a reservation. His reservation got bulldozed and the US revoked his dual citizenship status.

He has no car, He lives paycheck to paycheck, when gets broke he actually has to shoot porn, really racially degrading stuff, he preys on single moms and is into experimental drug testing.

>The dirtiest nastiest porn you could find in the 70's must seem kind of quaint by the settings standard..
Consider the Exotics from Chromebook 2. Specifically the Playbeing one.

huhuh, buzzballs

>Blackfolk is its own language, distinct from English

the guy will post links to bumfights on bbs forums, which he organizes himself. He will post footage of ATF agents gunning down mexican foot traffic crossing the border and scream "Fuck yeah! Americas kicking ass and taking names!"

Ask the guy who made it. I only used the small map from the rulebook before making my own Night City.

In my opinion, the main issue of Night City is that it doesn't pass for a massive urban sprawl. There's downtown (the small map) where all the action takes place - this area is described in the Night City sourcebook. Then, you have Night City South which is only described as a slum, though it's probably there that a lot of shit happens. And finally, you have the suburbs and industrial areas who all look generic and boring as hell.
IMO, all those districts should all be interconnected cities with their own districts (downtown, commercial district, residential district, industrial district...).

He doesn't even understand that hes not white. He just revels in the jingoistic sentiment and wants to spread conflict.

So you can see, hes having multiple identity crises. He has been living on government entitlement so long, the concept of having to work is foreign to him. All employment seems centered around sadism and brutality, and what was once an ironic reaction by adopting the mannerisms of the people around him became a core tenet of his identity.

Fucking psychiatrists follow him around and use it on documentaries about undiagnosed mental illness, then refuse to pay him a dime or sign him up with some fly by night government service that promises it will help then hands him a stationary phone and a phone book.

Many of the things we took as 'entitlements' during the 20th century no longer exist. He is disenfranchised from his own culture, the culture he grew up with, and the culture of the present. He has adopted the attitude of giving them people what they want, in the hopes that it will make them sickened at what they have become and make them want to change.

It just basically feeds on itself, the public never gets tired of it. Hes either going to become a total bottom feeder, shooting childrens underwear ads, or hes going to engage in some sort of guerilla warfare with the media, interrupting their broadcasts and forcing the public to indulge in the cultural depravity that they refuse to take responsibility for the media they consume in the privacy of their own homes.

If he ever goes corporate, (or god forbid government) he is going to be a media censor for sure.
