it really isn't helped by most people generally not giving a fuck about running around africa as spear chuckers. Granted there were more than a few fairly advanced kingdoms with their own distinct cultures but how the hell are you gonna carve out a niche for 'Africa Inspired Fantasy' when pathfinder of all things is one of the most dominant TRPGs?

Fuck, I feel for that girl. Some might call her a slut and I'm inclined to myself, but rationally looking at it, she is remorseful and there are some occassions where animalistic urges take over, such as when your partner proves to be inferior.

He's the part that really gets me. Remember Guild Wars? They made an entire expansion about an African setting that wasn't at all primitive or anything, and it was arguably their best one (though that was because the other two campaigns were great as well).

Come Guild Wars 2, and they're acting like a bunch of forced-diversity tumblrites and not even acknowledging the existence of this EXTREMELY AWESOME continent in their setting.

It's the damndest thing. Nightfall was exactly what they wanted and they ignored it in favour of their own off-brand 'diversity'.

Magic The Gathering did that sort of thing as well with the Mirage block. It had all kinds of African fantasy shit, African versions of knights and stuff, and was its own unique thing with some of the best flavour the game's ever produced.

And now Wizards is just obsessed with doing things like "Fantasy Greece" or "Fantasy Egypt" or whatever shallow inspiration hits this month and it's depressing because the game used to be so much better in that department.

I actually would prefer them to take a really weird and strange brush to what it is they're ripping off. Theros was great right up until you realize that the names are just changed around on the Gods and cities. (Meletis? Really WotC? You couldn't think of another name so you just changed the letters in Miletus?)

Kaladesh should have been a plane all about having Aether in the air, its volatile atmosphere, the weird creatures that would come about as a result of the plane, and all that crazy shit. From there, add some monsters from Indian folklore here and there and you've got an inspired setting that takes a few notes but feels original.

Instead it's just PUT IN BROWN PEOPLE HOLY SHIT CHANDRA GIVE ELVES STUPID NAMES MAKE DUMB STEAMPUNK CONTRAPTIONS

Khans (Sultai) was a better India set than Kaladesh. They should have scrapped the India India idea and made Kaladesh the anime plane (Gundams, robo waifus, race cars, and trains to name a few of the anime tropes floating around). You can always put brown people and six armed angels into a different set.
