Kroot Time

why does his hair/feathers look like the IRon Throne?

leman russes are still cool, right?

...

Indominus vs cataphractii vs tartaros this edition?

Why is this general so unhelpful?

How many Chaos Space Marines are necessary for a chaos army? I ask because I intend on converting Primaris into Chaos Space Marines and I know there is about 17 of em in the new Dark Imperium box

'ey guys, little clarification needed.

So an IG squad at 4 points per guy is 40 points (10 guys).

But a heavy weapons team is also just 4 points.

If I get a heavy weapons team, that replaces two guys.

So an IG squad with a HWT is 8 soldiert + hwt.

Does that mean the squad now costs (base) 36 points since it's 32 (8x4pts) + 4 (HWT)?

Did....did you expect otherwise? Its a week before a new edition. This is shitpost general, son

depends on the points limit you're shooting for, guy

csm are shit, so none

Tartaros > Indomnitus > Cataphractii

Cataphractii is too slow to be useful and the new invul save rules make it not worth it.

Visually? Yes.

Okay so say a 1000 point?

Guardsmen what are you using for your Rough Riders?

I am using Sisters of Thorn right now. I'm shaving down their ears, and figuring out how to get more imperial stuff on their models.

I just gotta figure out how to get a Priest within range for when they charge. 2 lance attacks, 1 chainsword attack and 1 trampling hooves attack. Could be okay.

Regarding Penitent Engines
They cost 55 points.
It says they have 2 heavy flamer and buzz blades
Does this mean I need to pay for the two heavy flamers? 129 points looks rather pricey, but they seem to be very good against multi wound models.

So the extra inch of movement and slightly larger selections of weapons is worth it over the telephone Homer?

Yes.

Tell me about your fluffy army lists.

At the risk of triggering this user, it's hard to say right now. I feel they'll be much more important this edition than last:
>bolters needed for gunning down all the green tides/gaunt tides we may see in 8th
>special and heavy weapons more valuable with global split fire, and they can't be precision shotted out
>neither can sergeants be challenged out, so hidden melee weapons can get work done
>2+ save in cover is nothing to sniff at
...but as to how many a typical list should include, I dunno yet.

Deep strike no longer scatters this edition. Scattering as a whole is gone.

>new invul save rules make it not worth it
What happened to invul

...

Mortal wounds ignore it, and it's basically just a minimum save for armor modifiers.

I'd pay the 40. Shaving 4 points isn't a big deal unless you're buying 20 infantry squads.

Hey /40kg/, how do you like my army :^) ??

So lemme get this straight. Rough Riders can come in from any edge INCLUDING your opponent's, first turn after deployment, and buttfuck a unit at will. Radical

have a bunch of Tamiya velociraptors.

When I run out, I'm going to use Gaunts.

Should I paint all my Primaris in the same Imperial Fists scheme, or should I have mixed squads, or squads of different chapters?

Priest only works on infantry. Same for IG orders.

Another reason that Penitent Engines are shit.

Why did they evolve to be so petable?

The best part is the porn pony.

see on one hand these are horrible cancer. but on the other hand i have to commend them for the paint job since i couldn't paint my guys to that quality.

Yes but Teleport Homers now let you redeploy those Terminators once.

That extra mobility (if only to a point in your deployment zone) looks mighty useful.

We've seen it before, and we know it ain't yours. Now fuck off you sad sack of shit.

I planned to do squads of different chapters myself

Best Helbrute set ups? IMO best is twin lascannon and either power scourge or Helbrute fist with combi bolter. Former coming in at 165pts and latter at 164pts.

Twin Las and Scourge is my preferred.

Going hard on the "GSC get IG units" thing, aren't ya?

9" away so charge when they come in is possible *but* hard. Maybe save a CP for a re-roll.

oh shit, that's a good idea, gsc rough riders riding gaunts

I've been thinking about getting a bunch of medieval minis for an IG/ministorum list.

Knights for rough riders
Swordsmen for Crusaders
Crossbowmen for conscripts
Priests for priests

Gunna be sort of hurting for ranged and anti tank options.

Kinda makes me want to do a regiment that is based off of a Feudal world, guys are like you mentioned and then there's an imperial knight as well
Fuck that'd be cool

Yeah shit. I thought it just said am units not infantry like orders. Oh well, still not bad.

Fuck dude this exactly what i'm planning. Imperial fists, invaders, black templars, hammers of dorn, etc

Can bring in an actual Imperial Knight.

It's a Knight and his men-at-arms

I'm not seeing anything about teleport homers in the unit profile.

Was considerably easier to do when bretonnian plastics were still on the shelves, though.

I'm using Empire Greatswords and giving them Cadian arms for the lasguns. Their torsos are a little thinner than the cadians so it takes some jiggling at times.

You can get 28mm medieval minis anywhere.

Obligatory optimistic "This edition will be truly balanced" post.

Shit. Now I want to do that too. Leave all the anti tank up to the Knight.

Yeah.
Like I said not great, but not too terrible.

They can sort of deep strike and can move faster if they survive the first turn the show up. Little better in melee, slighty worse shots, slightly more durable, less deep strike options.

Sort of a mixed bag. Not a bad choice to fill fast attack slots if you need them to.

Only the vanilla Terminators get them. The Cataph / Tarts don't get them.

How did the stats of previously anti horde weapons change? Flamers got their d6 hits which is great, but I haven't seen anyone talk about things like whirlwinds or wyverns yet.

I really like that some weapons have d3+X shots if you shoot 10+guys. But I feel that should continue further gaining more shots the bigger blob you fire at

It's a Tau army that fights in a swamp so all the fire warriors have pulse carbines, there's (going to be) hazard suits, the crisis suits are walking along the ground, and everyone's modeled to be looking around un-sure of where the enemy is.
The riptide's going to be crashing through the undergrowth as heavy reinforcements once I figure out how to make the swamp bases more convincing and there'll be plenty of gun drones operating as scouts that aren't bogged down by the terrain. And pathfinders

>Dark Eldar nerfed further.

Oh come on, did we really need help being terrible?

RIP Splinter Cannons

Don't shave their ears, Ynari and the imperium walk hand in hand towards the bed now.

Who /wutang/ here?

AdMech vs. Eldar kicking off shortly, stream just started. Beep Boop Motherfucker will soon commence.

user has a point. Do not expect your Russ to wipe entire squads from the board.

DO expect it to survive entire armies worth of shooting, which as an infantry support tank is arguably its job.

Humorously I crunched the numbers to see if a Deathstrike could kill one in one shot. In 7th edition it could do so roughly 30% of the time (hits with a 10" template on a Russ are effectively automatic, and striking side armor with s10ap1 ordnance would explode the target pretty often).

In 8th? Well the variable shot count creates a binomial distribution, which makes the probability of specific events very hard to determine, but I THINK it comes in at around....0.3%.

Roughly three times out of a THOUSAND. Maybe not a strong tonk, but almost certainly a tough one.

They're are better cheaper minis out there.

Bret's have the advantage of being GW models if you want to play at GW.

The 9" rule sounds incredibly annoying though, especially if you're fighting against an enemy with long movement ranges.

>Armored sentinels: 40 points
>T5 6 W 3+ save
I can work with that

>i dont know how to read or do basic math: the post

You can do it every movement, so it's not too bad.

Plus gun tax

My army, the Mars Ultramarines, is led by Guilliman and Cawl.

I'd probably (depending on opponents unit choice) place them so they're as far away from my opponents and "almost" on my objectives

Can you use a Teleport Homer to escape CC? Doesn't state you can't use in CC, but might be covered in BRB.

He's baiting. Did it last thread too.

>I think the toys they got in any way compare to any other faction.

Seek help, we want you to be well.

gun prices are the same I think

So the

>my imperial knights sworn to mars get canticles
Feels VERY good man.

I've found it useful to divide my enemy's forces. Although I feel that will be less relevant as people learn the system better.

>deep strike terminators in enemy deployment zone.
>Enemy splits their forces to fight terminators and main force
>Teleport terminators to rejoin my main force and take apart half the enemy's army at a time

Even better if he sends footsloggers after the terminators and they don't get to rejoin the main battle until turn 4 kek

I mean, i know your baiting and so am i, but honestly, i have a custodes army. They got fucked on toys. Deldar are in a good place.

I don't see it anywhere in the rulebook so I guess that would be a really useful application of it. Get into CC with a unit with a special snowflake, kill the snowflake and then teleport out.

Yeah. I liked them in 7th. They seem even better now.

I'm tempted to run the a couple of the FA detachments and take them by the dozens.

Mate, they aren't in anything resembling a good place, half their armory got nerfed. The only things that are looking good are their vehicles. But their infantry and special weapons got kicked pretty hard. Splinter Cannons in particular, which are close to my heart, were gutted and had their role completely switched. Not to mention Wyches and bloodbrides still sucking shit.

Anyone else industrial painting for 8th? The Kabal is finally coming together all in various stages of doing.

...

That's exactly how I see it.
>Get a couple Terminators in the enemy's back.

They either: Ignore them and focus your main army, so the Terminators kill any Objective holders they get their fists on

>Divert resources to stopping. Which you can always Teleport away if too overwhelmed.

Either way you can redeploy them at any point.

I'm gonna get some chainspear bits this weekend from anvil and build a set of custom berzerkers for my CSM. I also wanna put ramming prows on my bikers but I dunno what bit to use for it. I was thinking the Custodes shields look big enough but I can't think of a way to properly defile them to look chaosy enough.

Admech has brought no Dunecrawlers, for some damn reason, although they do have Kastelans.
What the fuck, Admech player?

Where?
I'm interested.

twitch dot tv/warhammer

Nevermind, I'm done, I found it. I just didn't think that was today.

Get some shield drones.

Everyone here is retarded to begin with, and new edition hype has operating at /v/ levels of shitposting.
If you want a real, insightful discussion about 40k where you might actually learn something worth knowing, go to one of the actual 40k forums. They have shitposting, too, but it's at like 20% compared to this general.

>IW still can't take Basilisks/heavy artillery in their army

I guess they must have just forgot them somewhere after the heresy

>Still no rules for Sonic Dreads

FW pls, I know you don't make them anymore but can we at least get legacy rules.

>Space clowns have a 7+ save

That's odd, anyone else have that?

(point total - cost of HQ) / cost of CSM = how many you need

I was but every time i finish a sub assembly of one of my marines the piece i was painting disappears

Poxwalkers

Is 1500 still the norm for pickup games? I havne't played in a few years and getting back in for the new edition. back in the day most "yo you want to play" to random people at the lgs usually mean 1500.

Rules are only coming out for currently produced models. Your only hope is chapter approved.

Only if you end up keeping them. If you swap them out for something (unsure if this is possible as I have not looked at the data sheet) then you pay for the something you swapped out for.

That calls for a Tupperware containment unit for those pieces friend!

are you suggesting user takes nothing but CSM to go with their HQ or am I bad at math? Because that sounds like a bad plan.

On a scale of 1-10 how OP is this unit in 8th?
