1st for last

What changes to your army are you upset about in this edition?

the emperor protects

27 points

Everyone is going to call me a WAAC fg becuase of my orks :(

We dont have legion from start

Don't be sad, user.

Remember how they mocked you. It's your time now.

Orks woz made for foightin and winnin'.

I've always been non-mechanized IG and I fear the same

Being a WAACfag is in the heart, not the army. I believe that you will shine through and show your FLGS the heart behind the Ork Horde.
But if you don't have your characters in the thick of things then I'm going to be very disappointed in you.

My Aspect Warrior menagerie is slightly more expensive across the board, and I had to take a second HQ now, so I ended up shelving the Shining spears.

What 40k conversions do you wish you had the skill to make?

It's just a return to the pre-traitor legions book world, hopefully GW will manage to make all the legions reasonably balanced this time around. They've shown they can do some pretty decent rules when they pull their heads out of their arses.

Aside from my Fexes and Tyrants, all my monstrous creatures got massive point hikes (and T7/T8 a helluvalota wounds but still).

And the fact that there is now no reason to take monstrous devourers over monstrous deathspitters.

should've made the devourers 4-6 shots each or made the deathspitters 24" 2 shots.

What chapter is that?

does it count if i *do* have the skill but not the time?

Its Alpha LEGION, nigga. Only loyalist dogs have chapters
I hope they will make codecies fo legions, like they always did for loyalists

>tfw the conscript meme is real

Greyfax is hot

Preheresy Alpha Legion
It's a crime that the Best Legion doesn't get enough attention in both fluff and rules.

Hay man, no one believed me when i my Tau became WAAC. i've been here before. Keepin me fingers crossed for the day of the reckoning,
welp, least we can always play against each other

Sure, I'm just looking for cool conversions.

The nerf to Skitarii guns and losing all our Feel No Pains for shitty 6++ saves, and Enginseers no longer being cheap HQs the moment we actually need them to do that job. Canticles could use a little boost, too, like making the Reroll 1s ones a straight +1 WS/BS to not overlap with all our other bubbles.

Otherwise Admech look pretty good, honestly, and I only need two more SC boxes and I'm done with them and can go mess about with Heresy Mech in preparation for IA14.

I mean, spare a thought for the Loyalists who don't get separate books but yeah some bigger books would be nice, really flesh out some more unique chaos units. Death Guard is going in a good direction, I hope people like Emperor's Children get a similar treatment. Or the World Eaters.

Sorry user, I have no idea what they'd add for Alpha Legion.

Same here. My store is mostly pretty low-tier players, too, making it extra rough.
They called me a WAACfag for putting an infantry platoon blob behind an Aegis Defense Line.

So Acts of Faith absolutely do not work in a mechanised list, so I'm going to use them all on my Celestine.
Can she grant her additional Act of Faith on herself?

Every legion have 2-3 unique units in HH tabletop. And Alpha did. And Alpha can use units from other legions as elite choice. And all army can infiltrate and start battle with "attack from thousands directions". Thats fluffy

more heavy weapons teams featuring the gunner in a waldo/light power suit.

I want to buy/field an Aegis with a quad gun. Not sure if it's worth it points-wise but I've always wanted semi-automated turrets. Feels like Dawn of War

Cadre Fireblade not giving warriors an extra shot at max range sucks, although with the new wound chart that might have been a little crazy. Massive point hike on Broadsides feels pretty bad. Markerlights seem like they're not gonna be as satisfying to use. Everything else seems good

snake, try to remember some of the basics of CQC

I'd suck Rogal Dorn's dick.

I was talking to one of my Tau friends and he said Pathfinders were stupidly cheap now. Could you spam them for better markerlight coverage?
Or will people just stick with the 3p markerlight upgrade for the Fire Warriors squad leader?

never 4 get Veeky Forums

Really?, never seen pre-heresy alpha legion before, why do the hydras look like wolves?, That is offical art work right?

Official from FW. Books on Mega

Looks like it user, Celestine is an Adepta Sororitas unit that is within 6'' of herself.

The passive 'cannot use more than half an army in reserve' fucks over my Genestealer cults, i bet GK players are upset too

Plus removing return to the shadows and nerfing the ambush table a little bit hurts from both gaming and fluff perspective. doesn't feel as fun to play anymore

Rock saws are useless.

Probably? Although I really don't like pathfinders, so I think I might just wait for the meta to shake out a little to see where I should get my ML support and how much. Honestly I'm hoping they end up just not worth taking at all

How much will people make fun of me if my army is two sets of the Primaris Marines from the starter set, painted as Ultramemes, and Big Boy Bobby G?

do you care?

Orks are no stronger than they were with the 4th edition codex at best. Firmly mid-tier.

Guard are the actual top-tier army now.

I heard that the transports were buffed, is it possible to run a less one-trick list with them?

Are Thousand Sons a good army for a beginner? They seem to fit all my criteria for an army.

>Not Imperial
>Footslogging
>Tough
>Shooting Focused
>Psykers
>Easy paint scheme

>9 conscripts

the math is pretty clear on this

Ork Blobs protected by Big Mek on Warbike with a KFF and a Painboy On Warbike seem extraordinarily strong. That many wounds in a template-less edition on a 5++, 6+++ is hard to chew through for almost all armies.

I don't know if you're giving the Boyz a fair shot.

>>Easy paint scheme

Wew lad.

Have anyone roster creator for 8th expect this webapplications-webroster.rhcloud.com/rc/web/#/rosterCreator ?

TSons are easy to paint. Spray gold, wash fleshtone, paint in teal panels, detail in the yellow stripes and silver on the bolters.

>Easy Paint Scheme

Lol no. It'll be hard to do the yellow lines, plus there's a lot of gold trim too.

It's pretty small and elite certainly, less to keep track of, and there's a standard big centerpiece model. Looking at their new rules they seem basically immune to small arms fire.
Psykers aren't super great this edition but Warptime seems good.
The best advice I'd give would be to look at the fluff and feel over hard rules, do you like the army? You don't want to end up spending a lot of time working on something you don't like.

yes

Well, all transports were 'buffed' You can also get the Primus to sort of reroll the CA the unit that escorts him. But most GSC players own one, so GW has made it so you need to purchase more stuff to keep up

The basic idea is you now need: More Primus for better rolls, a psyker for Mass Hypnosis and more things deploying on the board like sentinels and tanks. the banner guy seems shitty, abberants / metamorphs too

I want comfor builder and dont want to look at 4 pages for every unit, okay? Just cool battlescrolls

>paint in teal panels, detail in the yellow stripes

If you think that'll be easy for a beginner you're mistaken. You're also missing out ll the shading and highlighting.

Even the most basic Thousand Sons is packed with detail. Out of all current armies they are probably the most difficult to paint besides properly done Harlequins.

It gets easier over time. And by over time I mean that I'm pretty solid with almost all point costs for my army after one draft list, you can do it!

Unless you play something like standard Space Marines, in which case good fucking luck.

Pretty excited to get my foot orks some game time. Kill Kans actually look quite viable now as well.

Blitza bommers seem like an auto take and I'm currently assembling a dakkajet that's been in a box for forever because they also look incredible now too.

a lil bit
I'm new to the game and it just seems like a relatively cheap way to jump right in with a 2k army, but not if it means I'm going to be the guy people roll their eyes at whenever I ask for a game

CSM. I want fluffy Alpha legion, so nearly no vechicle and many guys in power armor

Stupid fucking command squad changes. Way to invalidate 2/5s of my squad, jackass.

>check ebay for Tau armies
>very first image contains unpainted riptide wing
I don't want to believe my favorite faction's player base is this fucked

>Spray gold
>Doing the gold first

No.

Never do this shit, never fall for the GW 'pls buy our gold spray!!' meme

No Marbo.
No Bastonne.
Some of my models are now technically illegal (Scion sergeant with bolter and plasma pistol, chainsword+powerfist sergeant).

Dire Avengers are way too expensive.
Striking Scorpions cover bonus is now offensive instead of defensive (though it could be quite powerful).

Snipers are no longer pinning.

I bought gold sprayed Ahriman from eBay. Whats wrong with this?

>so nearly no vechicle and many guys in power armor
oh so you know fuck all about the alpha legion?

You could do all that in the last edition, except you had 5+ FNP instead of the 6+ ignore wounds and decent cover saves almost made the KFF redundant.

Admittedly, a lot of blast weapons got nerfed, but there are still a lot of good ones; mortars are way better now and wyverns, whirlwinds and thunderfire cannons are just as good.

Eat shit, weeb.

I like that command squads have been split up, it makes the various units previously contained within them more versatile.

Plus, Honor Guard has also been affected (chapter champion was removed, as was the ability to take a standard), so now I have a unit to properly represent the Marshal's Sword Brethren.

Or you could just handpaint then gold, just saying.

i did this list. Ahriman cause he good at casting, rhinos cause we dont get infiltrate before codex. After normal lgeion rules i think it would be any tank and infantry

The stereotype exists for a reason.

but snipers can now potentially do 2 wounds per shot, one of which is basically unavoidable if it kicks in.

and we can shoot them while moving now, and it won't really matter that much (you're always looking to rend anyway)

i'd consider that a fair trade in an edition where pinning/morale effects don't exist

what a shit list

>Plus, Honor Guard has also been affected (chapter champion was removed, as was the ability to take a standard), so now I have a unit to properly represent the Marshal's Sword Brethren.

That sounds cool, i haven't looked into Marines, but i used to have a small Templar army. i wonder if the Crusader LR is as powerful as i imagine it to be

Anyone played Templar? what's it like? what do you take?

I'm not a huge fan of how it affects 5 man squads because it literally makes 2 of the members useless. Since I play deathwing that's my plasma cannon termie and my lightning claws termie. On the other hand it is really useful to have a 4+ reviver running around the board and being able to mix and match individual members per list really helps with dealing with the general high points cost of my army but it does suck to have to deal with 2 useless models.

I thought it will be cool. Whats about this old list?

But now the Painboy can't be sniped/challenged out and you don't need to hug cover and deal with the movement penalties it brings as you move across the board.
I don't know man, I am being optimistic. but even if Orks are mid tier that's miles ahead of the last era of bullshit. Reasonably I think Hordes are still going to be the meta so Orks will probably sit in the high mid tier depending on how codex creep and how liquid the whole game is.

What the fuck are you trying to do you flaming retard

who won yesterday's show match?

I dont understand you

>word "patrol" is badly edited in
>2 chosen members are poorly shopped out
>taking a 160pt named character when you don't even have any decent infantry
>power points
It's like looking into the face of down syndrome.

>word "patrol" is badly edited in
I forgot to change detachment so edited this
>2 chosen members are poorly shopped out
I dont know why chosens with fists dont have image
>power points
And forgot to switch to pints. its 750

>badly ordered list
>a fucking 300 point dreadnought
>absolute shite in turns of troop choices
Of course you don't you no-IQ dimwit.

Give me your best tau memes

Very close win for Howling Griffons, came down to a vehicle exploding and killing a bunch of cultists around it.

im just newbie and dont know why this troops are bad choices

How is this as Baby's First List?

...

Okay, so Ahriman is a Thousand Sons model and I think if you want to be on theme (Alpha Legion) you'd want a more generalist CSM list for your inital list.

Perhaps consider a single generic (Chaos Lord is good) HQ choice, two or three basic infantry (Two ten man Cultists and ten basic marines maybe) and then a heavy weapons team, Havocs I think? (Lascannons and Missile Launchers are good)?

That gives you a really solid base to expand. You can grab vehicles, elites, jump pack units etc. You just really want to build a general foundation to build your army around.

cool

i was afraid it would be one-sided

Judging by how the guys at Bolter and Chainsword are giddy with excitement, Templars are a lot better in 8th than they were in 7th. Plus, all three of our named characters seem to have great synergy; when fielded together alongside large crusader squads, they should be highly effective.

For Templars, go with large, melee focused (everyone has a BP & chainsword) crusader squads with Neophytes armed with shotguns as meatshields. It's fluffy, and they perform well.

The LRC sounds like it'll be a monster this edition, I am pretty excited.

>Chaos Lord
>Generic
TEN THOUSAND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

Because you claim you want a 1k sons list but you take something more akin to Alpha Legion with retarded fucking shit like a nurgle dreadnought and a tzeentch sorcerer stacked on top.

If you're actually interested in 1ksons look at something like for an example list. If you're not then don't fucking say you are and get your goals straight.

I hear so little about 'nids in these threads. They seem like they should be good this edition, yeah?

>1 sorc on disc
>1 sorc not on disc
This triggers my autism way more than it should.

Yes, top tier. Might only last till rebalancing.

I'd play smaller games with one starter set's worth and see what you're missing. Otherwise you may really wish you had a tank/aircraft/melee unit/whatever, but you've already filled out your points.

I know, it triggers my tism too, but there's not enough points to have both on a disc.

...

I'd be happy to finally play against Ultramarines. For all the shit I give them, they have a nice color scheme on the tabletop.
