Fuck no

4th best edition

AoShill please go

3rd edition is best edition

Who's excited for fidgetspinner Nurggle ?

but 8th is already far more enjoyable.

How many Custodes do you think there are now again?

Since they have little strike forces backing up guilliman and doing the emperor's secret shit I am leaning toward them being back up to 10000 if not more leaning toward being possibly legion sized.

Celebrate Pride Month! Play a game with your local Dark Angels player!

5th for Sisters a QT!
>tfw you buy two sets of stuff from a recaster, other is excellent quality other is dogshit

How much anti tank should I be taking at 500pts? I'm the only IG player at my store so I don't think I'll face a bunch of armor.

>Not liking 7th edition makes you a GW shill

I am confuse.

what should I have in a ork speed freeks army?

T. Tyranid player

Bikes, Stormboyz, flyers.

>improve rend by 1 for 8 points
>feel no pain for mortal wounds 5 points
>riptides get free shields
>high yield missile pods cheaper than heavy rail rifles
>drone body walls
>Don't even need to bother with fire warriors anymore
>Farsight actually good in close combat now
Tau are still hilariously powerful

too bland, I liked 4th and 5th better

What's a good Khornate color scheme that isn't just Red armor with brass trim?

Do you have to pay points for wargear units start with?

My friend says he doesn't have to pay points for terminator powerfists ebcause they come included.
like, when it says wargear not included it doesn't mean any wargear upgrades, can someone prove him wrong?

brass armor with red trim

>Hazard suits just might get 16 shots each thanks to 4 burst cannons
feels good

show us

Brass armor with red trim.

What razorback turret is best?

Thinking for deathwatch.

You're all food for the swarm.

White and blue

Red armour, Gold trim, Bone white helmets and maybe shoulders

you won't avoid painting red if you're going Khorne, nor should you.

It says "Wargear not included" above the unit point cost. That means the wargear point cost is not included in the point costs listed below it.

Your 'friend' sounds like a sad piece of cheating shit. Check if his dice are loaded, maybe alert local authorities too.

They'll come with some shitty explanation like each of the HH surviving custodes replicated their own creation procedure with an aspirant(s) and each one get a Padawan+master Jedi like training bullshit

>keep watching duncan, reading guides, etc. and also experimenting with painting techniques
>follow all the recommendations for thinning, drybrushing, etc.
>still stuck at mediocre tier paintjobs
I'm going to be bad forever, aren't I?

Basically this

Twin Assaultcannon for maximum BRRRRRRRT

Twin Lascannon also seems decent if you need some extra tank busting.

you pay for everything now

It makes you literally worst than Hitler

Greyfax is hot!

I want to be her loyal sidekick!

>t. I always loved and played Tyranids but how do I gaunt?

>inquisitors no longer allowed power armour

Knowing and understanding technique's isn't the same as having mastered them. Practice makes perfect. Watching a video about sword duels also doesn't instantly make you a master swordsman.

Anyone have the Fabulous Bill shitpost saved? I need it for something

>why live?

stop experimenting. Just get a nice solid base coat. Then do a clean wash and either a drybrush or clean edge highlights. Get those 3-4 techniques down and THEN start experimenting. Knowing how to do amazing NMM isn't going to matter if you can't apply a clean coat of paint.

If you can do all of those things already, then just keep going. You'll get there.

You pay for grenades, too? Fuckin' everything?

I'm only planning a unit of 3. I like big things, I was a fan of Nidzilla back in the day. I love warriors, it's great to hear they can actually do work now.

I don't plan on taking more infantry than warriors or biovores (mortal wounds seem strong as fuck on these guys) but I think a Trygon taking a unit of 6 warriors right into my enemies face will always cause trouble.

>Or maybe power armour is no longer allowed inquisitors

>Twin assault cannon

Oh damn I didn't even catch that, most setups are either twin heavy Bolter or assault cannon as a +1 strength upgrade for it.

Yes.

A lot of basic wargear is zero points though. Krak and frag grenades, bolters, and bolt pistols are free for example.

Does forge world have an assault cannon and lascannon land raider variants?

Everything. But most cheap shitty gear like that or lasguns are free

try actually reading the book, nigger

Las/Plas could be pretty good if you've put a captain in the 6th transport slot. Get out and rapid fire 4 overcharge shots.

Depends. Look at the gear in points chart. For example, Lasguns are free.

I always thought the Black Legion Berserker scheme of black and brass with red accents was nice.

There's no cure for bad taste, steal someone else colour scheme.

I've always loved nids, but I've never played 40k outside of vidya. Followed the lore, and I've wanted to be in the tabletop for years now, but the state of the rules and my favorite factions always turned me off.

This is fucking stupid

Anons, how should I equip Skitarii Rangers and/or Vanguard? Which are better? Rangers have longer range and higher strength, but Vanguard have a lot more shots and they seem like they could do okay in melee, too.

Bikes, buggies, trukks, battlewagons, flyers. Don't forget a bunch of meks to maintain all those vehicles.

Stormboyz are serious and orderly yoofs, not speed freeks ya git.

How creative

I do like the idea of going for white helmets. Very neat for a skull-look

I'm not sure I want to go full on Legion-era World Eaters.

That looks pretty sick, though right now I think I'm leaning towards a more white-primary color scheme.

Opinions on thunderfire?

>Baleflamer is fucking 60 pts
>Hades cannon hits on 5's because you're always moving
>You have to pick one of these
>Claws cost pts

I kinda love how the Drake is now a melee unit that moves 30 inches but i wish you could just not pay for anything but the claws

Usually vanguard, but Rangers make for a decent 5 man sniper squad with omnispex and two arquebi. If you're doing power level slap a close combat weapon on the sergeant because why the fuck not?

Vanguard, rangers are not worth the points

Is it possible to play a pure mechanicus army? I could possibly get an imperial knight in there too. Just want to avoid special snowflake space marines as much as possible while playing cool martian robots.

Rangers make great babysitters for Transuranic Arquebus. Keep them out of close range and snipe away.

Vanguard make better basic infantry, and pair well with Plasma Calivers for intense firepower.

Either pairs okay with Arc Rifles if you're facing a lot of vehicles, though Arquebus and Calivers are much more powerful in more generalized ways.

I'm not sure what to think of it. 4D3 does mean you'll get at least 4 shots and up to 12, but only Str 6 ? And that for 134 or something points ? The cannon can also be oneshot very easy by weapons that do D6 damage. The techmarine can just fix it if it survives, but with only 4 wounds ... It just seems like you'll be better off with a Whirlwhind. Haven't tried them though, so who knows maybe they really are still good.

How does one even paint all these small panels? First the panels, then the trim, or the other way round? Must be a pain in the ass to paint.

3rd edition rule book artwork was undisputed GOAT. I probably would not still be so obsessed with this lore if it hadn't been for that delicious grim introduction to the universe. Like always some things were a little fantastical but overall the tone was deadly serious and dire. I think the game needs that to keep it interesting, I hope 8 edition rulebook has some of the same character to it.

>basecoat panels and highlight
>basecoat gold and wash everything
>highlight gold and extra detail on the panels

ezpz

Yes. Easily.

Absolutely. They all have the Imperium keyword, but Cult/SkitMech have both Adeptus Mechanicus and Forge World keywords for further shared buffs.

Either way works.

In a non-tournament setting, how would anons feel about an opponent taking an old Sonic Dreadnought, and simply using the rules for a Helbrute and the normal points values of the Blastmaster & Doom Siren it comes with?

OKAY

I see people are being retarded and not understanding how shooting and cover works.

First, shooting is done from a MODEL to a MODEL. FAST DICE ARE JUST A METHOD OF DOING THIS FAST, you aren't actually shooting all at the same time. Second, THE DEFENDER PICKS REMOVED MODELS.

So for example if you have 9 dudes behind a LOS-breaking wall, you can roll fast dice for the whole shooting unit but once you have one kill, and the defender removes the one visible model, THE REST OF THE ROLLS ARE DISCARDED, since you can no longer see the enemy unit. The same is true for cover, if 9 are in cover and one isn't, as soon as you kill the one model not in cover, THE ENTIRE UNIT IS NOW IN COVER.

The reason they did it this way is to speed up the game so you don't have to specify that you are shooting at the models out of cover or whatever.

Nice! I'm new to 40k and purchased a dominus and sicarans today for a start. Also plan on getting the start collecting kit. I'll be building vanguards and i also want infiltrators.

What should i go for next? I like the Kastellan robots and the striders the most. Not really interested in the battle servitors or electro-priests.

Ironically it could have been if they had gotten rid of formations.

nah, Astra Militarum. But no Conscripts in my army.

reasonable to proxy a Lord of contagion as Typhus given that Typhus is better in every single way and is cheaper

And nerfed riptides. And wraithknights. And bikes. And several spells. And overwatch. And more than 4 factions were playable on a remotely competitive level. The list goes on my dude

I guess but I would just buy him, he looks miles better than that pizza cutter piece of shit. Seriously that axe he has is fucking retarded with a capital R.

This is incorrect, as the declaration of attack is when LoS is checked, not when each shot is resolved. Removing the one visible model does not end the attack.

So I was reading the list and doing my hypothetical Orkz list for matched play, and I'm kind of stumped at this particular part because of the new confusing index format.

How many points do I pay to upgrade an Ork Boy in my unit to a Boss Nob? Do I just apply the reasonable solution of taking the point value per model for Nobz at 17 even though Boss Nob doesn't seem to be listed and Nobz are technically a different unit?

Wrong, model to unit. And the unit is targeted forever when models start shooting.

Weighing pros and cons:

-Vanguard are better in melee. They are effective s4, and even better, soften up targets in melee for other units by lowering their toughness. sometimes, it is worth charging a unit with a few of them to just get this bonus.

-Vanguard get more shots with their gun. they are awesome at clearing lots of T3 infantry.

-Rangers have longer range and a better 'crit' effect ( in my opinion, anyways). Their gun is S4 which makes them better able to wound SM equivalents, and also means they wound certain T7 vehicles on a 5+ as opposed to the 6+ vanguard would normally get.

They do different jobs with different roles. Vanguard are for rushing up and getting down and dirty. They are dangerous up close, and prime plasma-caliver carriers. The low range of the caliver matches up with the rest of the squad. They can support other units in melee, even though they don't really have much themselves. However, with canticles, they CAN either re-roll 1's, or be effective S5, so they are not BAD, per se, just not as good as specialists.

Rangers are excellent at hanging back and out-ranging a unit. They usually will get the first shot. Compared to space marines, they will do more damage at range, thanks to their crit effect, and they will do it sooner. Behind cover, they even have a 3+ save, while being able to deny cover pretty easily. I think these guys want to take arquebuses and engage units at a safe distance while singling out characters. They can afford to be less mobile thanks to their top-tier range.

TL;DR they're both fine, choose the unit for the job you want them to do.

Kastellans are a great choice

Holy fuck I never noticed that lmao. Would 100% try to greenstuff that in

So go with Vanguard with Plasma Calivers for basic dudes, and Rangers for sniping Characters and stuff?Should I give the Vanguard Alphas a pistol and melee weapon or no? Are Ruststalkers any good? They're the coolest looking dudes the AdMech has other than the Dominus, in my opinion. How should I build the Dominus? Looking at the 8e rules, I'm thinking maybe Eradication Ray and Macrostubber.

The same could be said for 8th, there are a list of retarded things in the new rules but every rule set is a compromise. The biggest offenders were formations that gave you free transports or rewarded people for spam.

Are you guys seriously trying to say that if one guy is sticking out of cover you can wound him 15 times and kill all his friends?

Bone White, red splatter, Gold/Brass Trimming

Would I be a faggot for starting a new army for 8th? Or should I focus on expanding what I have?

Btw, Im thinking from switching from admech to Dark Eldar.

Yes, that is the new set of rules.

Coteaz confirmed best inquisitor.

But allowed Terminator Armor

Why does his gun have two magazines?

Play what you want.

Infiltrators are more consistent and generally better, but Ruststalkers can be a pinch-hitter in melee.

Just don't expect them to last a while; these are glass cannons that are meant to inflict horrific damage for a round and get toasted the next, assuming anything is left in their wake.

why? allows them to adjust point costs in the future without fucking with the unit

I honestly don't think Dark Imperium offers much for Nurgle players, the leaders look awful, the marines can be emulated with FW's upgrade pack and the blight drone already exists. If you want one just get one cheap off eBay when people break the box down.

Formations being bullshit were only bad because of unit imbalance and special rule favoritism. There was nothing at all wrong with being able to bring a small, fluffy detachment of synergistic units with an extra special rule or two, except that some formation bonuses were just miles and miles better than others

I like me some twin lascannons.

Especially for deathwatch, their veterans are already BRRRRRRRT w/ stormbolters

Why is there so much hostility towards people who play to win?

I want to start a chaos army just to get an excuse to field this awesome model. I know it gets hate on this board for some reason but fuck me it's so damn sexy. Fire breathing void dragon fuelled by hatred and warp fuckery.
