I don't get the people calling Occultist unchained wizard. It's probably the closest thing to the idea, but have you even looked at the spell list?

There's nowhere near enough variety in there to carry a pure spellcasting Occultist build, unless you put all your money in Animate Dead minions.

Why is the Occultist so fucking perfect? No joke, ever since the panoplies came out it just feels like it can do anything it wants. You need a full BAB class? Gimme a level or two and I got you senpai. Need a caster? Gotchu senpai. Need a healer? Shit you know I got that. On its own it's amazing, but in a gestalt game it's perfection. Rogues in general? Fixed. Investigator has shit combat abilities? Fixed. PoW game and your (Vig/Bushi) Stalker needs that extra something to keep up? Occultist has you covered all over.

I can't wait for it to get an intelligent weapon archetype and shit in the magus's cereal even more.

I've been sorely tempted to use that as in armour art for my short slender Shelynite small-chested slut, but the weapons aren't right and it's probably more armoured than she'll actually be.

Its mostly because it is able to easily and creatively fulfillthe same thematic niche as the class, while actually having not only cool and fun class features but also equally rewards differing playstyles from specialist to generalist. Plus its fun, simple, and easy to use

Spiritualist already has that, it's called Phantom Blade and is pretty much a Black Blade Magus!

Since you're replying, I saw that Interface Zero 2.0 is finishing up. I don't know a WHOLE lot about Cyberpunk or Shadowrun (mostly only movies and games), but I have been reading through the Shadowrun core. God, what a difficult read that shit is.

Anyway, do you think since Interface Zero 2.0 will be compatible with Starfinder, that it would be better to not even sweat learning Shadowrun's system?

Occultist still has its share of trap options (in both spells and focus powers), and has fiddly bookwork with the focus in each implement.
It's interesting design but I wouldn't call it simple.

Self-polymorph can arguably be stronger in spheres, or at least accessible to more classes

Well, I've always felt that learning a new system is something everyone should do now and again, but if you're having trouble making headway with SR, and you have working alternatives, I guess there isn't much reason to try and slog through something you don't like.

Vancian summoning is and has always been horribly brokenly OP ever since the Communal Mount exploit was a thing. Why use one summon spell per encounter and constantly update your spellist with the highest level summon spells, when you can just prepare Heightened C.Mount and ASM a few times and have Dire Tigers follow you ALL DAY?

Oh it's a downright clusterfuck, but that's because the Occultist is unique in how it functions so you have to start from the ground to figure it out. It's not at all simple, but it's a lot more interesting than other casters.

Spheres conjuration is just a weaker but more malleable (and more expensive) eidolon. It's miles less bullshit than normal summoning on the basis that you don't have an answer for every situation anymore. It's also miles worse because you no longer have an answer for every situation.

Alter Summoned Monster is a lv2 spell that reshapes a creature summoned with a Conjuration (Summoning) spell, to a creature summonable with a Summon Monster of equal spell level to the original spell that you're altering. Does nothing to who controls it or the duration, just the shape and abilities of the creature.
Mount and its communal version are C (Summoning) spells with durations in 2h/level, that summon ponies. Unlike say Phantom Steed there's no restriction on what you can make these ponies do. Ergo, if you Heighten the C.Mount spell and then alter them with ASM, you now have ALL DAY versions of your favorite max spellevel monster instead of an ALL DAY pony.

Oh, and you can also just split up the Communal variant into multiple ponies (max 6 per casting), though this divides the duration as well. Still, let's consider a humble lv7 wizard with a Rod of Extend Spell: his C. Mount spell will have a duration of 14 hours pre-Extend, so 28 hours. This means 2 ponies of 14 hours each, 4 ponies of 7 hours each, etc. Assuming you have 4 lv2 spells to alter them with, that's a LOT of adventuring time with - oh, why not one of each Medium Elemental type?
And you still have all your Fireball slots left.
