Each has a different range of targets they're good against. Axe is the best overall but also costs a little bit more.

So 22d3 shots firing at a 50 man blob, and the Leviathan Dreadnought can take two. Averages 44 shots each.

I think they are fine. Lots of units are really good at killing knights now, it is hordes that (excluding forgeworld) prove to be a problem.
