>Sauron is the primarch of a legion.
How would his legion look like?
Loyalist or traitor?
He would be a Vulkan, Perturbado, or Ferrus Manus slowly being corrupted by Chaos.
Homeworld would be a volcanic wasteland that had suffered some short of geography rearranging catastrophe during the AoS.
There would be a few patches of arable land that would be extremely fertile and productive for their low size. The trick is finding somewhere where the mineral content is low enough to not be toxic and has access to fresh water and is in a place with a good climate. These would be the Shire lands.
The people for the most part would be slightly twisted looking. In part this is because of the constant mild poisoning as shit leaches out of the volcanoes into the water but also because of the inbreeding. AoS and the geographically devastating weapons didn't leave as many alive as would have been optimal. Enough to form a stable gene-pool, barely. That and later devolving into very insular tribes later on didn't help.
Sauron lands and manages to unite them or at least bangs enough head together to get them to listen. By their standards he is hellishly charismatic and divinely beautiful.
Starts organizing shit. Holy fucking hell is he good at bringing order to chaos. Rivers damned and diverted, irrigation canals dug, terraced fields on a grand scale. Wasteland turned greenish. The people are fed and content.
His nations spreads as proper roads are made, bridges built and tunnels dug and places seem less distant, the border closer. Inexorably Mordor spreads from it's original collection of valleys and mountains never stopping until nearly a hundred years later it meets itself round the other end of the planet.
And at the heart of Global Mordor, the place where all roads came from, The Dark Tower. From here Sauron the Great and Benevolent looks over his realm and sees that it is good.
Then the Emperor arrives.
...
It would look like making everything in the world about your specific fandom is kinda sad & pathetic, actually.
He was the first "higher order" Maia that converted to Morgoth.
Morgoth and an Ungoliath are pretty much the "Ur-gods" of chaos.
While Sauron is an order and control OCD autist. He hates chaos, his whole deal is to become lord over everything so that he can turn everything orderly.
>WE
>WUZ
>SPIRITS
That's just how it would start out.
Sauron was a micromanaging nightmare. He could organize, but he was obsessive. He did start out with good intentions.
Introduced to the wider Imperium he would be driven mad by the scale of it and the trying to impose order. He wold get mired in the Administratum to try and make sense and impose order which would turn form good organization to his will. This would bring him into disagreement with the Emperor who does not share power.
Resentment building and constantly feeling like his every attempt to get shit done properly is intentionally being screwed over he starts to go down darker paths and starts trying to find more efficient ways of getting shit done.
It is by this method that he falls to Chaos. Perhaps, like with Morgoth, he though he could steer it into something constructive but was ultimately corrupted.
Either way he is on the other side and gets killed, his soul destined to wander the Chaos Wastes unclaimed and unloved, aware of the galaxy but unable to mover so much as a grain of sand. Now all he can do is wait for the Rhana Dandra and pick a side then.
He should be a loyalist.
Just edgy enough to fit right in the Imperium's tyranny but arrogant and prideful to despise chaos ruining his tyrannical rule.
>he would be driven mad by the scale of it and the trying to impose order.
We assume Sauron has his ring.
Remember the Australia sized island of NĂºmenor? How he started out as highest threat prisoner?
The more corrupt and nefarious, the easier he'd rise to the top and become the true ruler.
So in this version he'd take Lorgar's place and be the one to corrupt Horus?
I don't play D&D, but Sauron had perfect charm/intimidation/diplomacy rolls (or whatever they're called).
That's something movies got wrong.
Sauron wasn't powerful in a might sense, but godlike manipulation. He could make himself appear (like the emperor) as the most beautiful being imaginable, and not through illusion but on an atomic level change his structure to become aesthetically perfect. He doesn't even need to say anything, he could just be and he make majority become enthralled by his beauty.
Numenor was like an empire of "infallible" holy human demigods when he arrived. If not for Sauron they were probably decades away from becoming sci-fi.
he would be evil Vulkan.
To add to this, I think Sauron would fall in love (no homo) with The Emperor.
Honestly I think he would fall to Chaos independently, like how Magnus was being courted by Tzeentch from very early on, or how Angron had won Khorne's approval before even leaving his planet.
Sauron would be a loyalist seeking to use this cosmic power to bend reality to his will, to forge order in a universe innately drawn to Chaos. It would be a hypocritical descent into madness and self harm on levels both mental and physical. It would take but a whisper from Horus to shift his views and release him from his torment.
For true order exists in the destruction of all things, for reality is intrinsically drawn to entropy. So he would embrace Chaos and find the true meaning of war, of industry, and ultimately leadership; All of War, all of Creation, all of Tyranny is simply controlled Chaos.
Ultimately he would attempt to take his philosophy of Controlled Chaos to its logical extreme by forging a Dark Imperium, claiming the throne of Horus alongside Perturabo, Magnus, and Fulgrim. Lorgar would initially be party to this, before seeing the same behaviours in Sauron that he saw in his father, and he and his legion would eject from the Empire. Abaddon would rally the Word Bearers against Sauron, seeing his claim of Warmaster as illegitimate, as well as Angron and Mortarion and Curze (which would take little effort as the Primarchs all universally hated tyrants). They would destroy the Primarch with ease, as he was never a match in combat against the likes of Curze or Angron and Abaddon would take his place as ruler of this Dark Imperium.
Sauron, his soul bound to a trophy claimed by Abaddon, would slowly corrupt the Warmaster and the Primarchs, turning them against each other and sundering their pact of allegiance, while the Thousand Sons awaited his return and the Iron Warriors and Saurons own legion tended to his Empire, now a fraction of what it was.
>For true order exists in the destruction of all things
That was Morgoth's idea.
Sauron wanted to rule minds, can't do that if they're all dead. Even by the end of third book he offered Aragorn & CO peace.
>By making them surrender all weapons
>yfw Sauron was a democrat
>slowly being corrupted by Chaos
I doubt Sauron would succumb to Chaos corruption both due to his own power and force of will and his beliefs. Sauron was a villain but Tolkien himself says Sauron was obsessed with order and stability, and at one point before the Third Age had good motivations and good ideas. His intentions weren't entirely malevolent.
He hated disorder and the idea of chaos and worked against it. Plus, he was very powerful. He could probably resist Chaos's corruption. He wasn't more powerful than the Chaos gods I'd say, but his master certainly was (before the late First Age) and from Morgoth's power given to Sauron he could probably refuse them pretty easily.
Sauron would likely become a wild card, a third party of Space Marine conflict doing its own thing.
Hmmm, good point. That leads to minimal changes to this except the other Chaos Primarchs would rally against him sooner for doing the EXACT same things as the Emperor. I don't think Sauron would Hate his father, only resent his failure in controlling the other Primarchs and resenting the other Primarchs for not being the tools they where meant to be
>He could make himself appear (like the emperor) as the most beautiful being imaginable
He could no longer take beautiful form by the time of the movies, he had lost that ability forever and was nothing more than a spooky eye ghost.
>Everything that made Fulgrim and Ferrus Mannus dangerous and unpleasant
>but worse, and in a shapeshifter
>How would his legion look like?
Pic related, because in universe Sauron would be you know who. Hell probably is right now. You know it to be true.
Traitor, but only because he wanted to rule it all himself.
He probably becomes a champion of, or is in fact, Malal
We assume Sauron at height of power.
If we assume Sauron as he was by third age, then he's nothing but a great pianist with sever arthritis.
>by the time of the movies
>the movies
Malal being Morgoth and Sauron being his Chosen would be some crazy crossover shit but I don't know it'd work. Depending on what point in the Tolkien legendarium you are Morgoth was on a whole different level than any of 40k's gods, and all of them unanimously together probably couldn't defeat him.
*and on another point in the Tolkien legendarium, Morgoth is nothing more than a really really hyyuugee Primarch.
Yeah, thanks to the concept of Arda Marred his power level fluctuates back and forth.
>incredible powerful sorcerer/pysker
>obsessed with order
>perfectly manipulative
>wields armies and men and monsters like tools
>cares for nothing but his vision
Sauron would be the Emperor, except he would ENCOURAGE the Primarchs and people like Lorgar to worship him, and you would have a Horus Heresy that becomes the exactly opposite of the current one.
Guilliman would fall to slaanesh because of his pride and wanting to rule the perfect Empire Secondus
Russ falls to Khorne
Khan falls to Malal
I'm gonna buck popular opinion and say Sanguinius becomes Chaos undivided because he was best boy and all the gods wanted him
Corax falls to Nurgle, because despair
Lion falls to chaos (possibly Tzeentch because ambition and strategic genius) but gets BTFO (or does he?) by the loyalists on the Rock, the Dark Angels remain loyal and cover up the fact that Johnson fell to chaos while keeping him prisoner (just as planned)
Ferrus Manus falls to chaos undivided and leads a great splinter of Hereteks experimenting with creating chaos infused abominable intelligences
Dorn... Dorn Dorn Dorn, no idea. Chaos undivided like Pertuabo, likely.
Makes sense, the entire point of Malal was to have him reset the warp back to the realm of souls, which Tzeentch didn't like, and had him killed/placed in the retconian for.
Neato, emps picks godhood, another set of sons fall.
Actually, thinking about it, the fallen set of sons are pretty Dawn war gods tier. Lorgar might even get to write his faith book properly, and stays on terra to meditate with his father or something.
Morgoth's motives would probably blend with Malal's pretty well.
Morgoth's whole deal was that he believed he was more powerful than God himself, and the fact he was outright stronger than every other Valar and Maiar combined boosted his ego to the point where he believed only he could create the world and make it good. When God told him to fuck off he got mad and rebelled, and his endgame became destroying the entire universe, killing God, then remaking everything his way.
Malal's whole "reset and stop the change" shit would work well. I think Malal and Morgoth would be bros if Malal escaped the Retconium and Morgoth escaped the Void.
The Custodes and Haradrim even kind of look alike
sorry that's an easterling not a Haradrim please don't crucify me
>Neato, emps picks godhood
Emps picks becoming the girl
There's a shitton of similarities between Warhammer and Tolkien, especially Fantasy. Warhammer itself started as an homage to Tolkien, satire of modern (British) society, and a tribute to heavy metal and high fantasy culture.
This is actually very likely. Or he would be like Malcador or some other lieutenant but probably equal in terms of charismatic aura.
>Sauron wasn't powerful in a might sense, but godlike manipulation
Actually both. Tolkien said he - a Maiar, basically lesser angel - had sorcery powers that were greater than some Valar - greater angels - and that he was of dread power.
His manipulation was even better though. I wouldn't be surprised if he could successfully manipulate the Chaos gods themselves to an extent.
So, what you're saying is, Sauron would be Perturabo, but with Fulgrim's charisma?
And like Malcador, The Emperor would see the true purity in Sauron's spirit! And grant him an autonomous order.
And so the Emperor of Man became a Trinity!
>The Holy Trinity
>Order and Faith restored
It all makes sense..
I'd say he had immense "matter manipulation", by the third age it had evolved to genetic manipulation.
But he couldn't destroy or "lift" or create, per se, only reshape. In a way his manipulation is reshaping minds to his will.
>old wise dude
>radiant swole dude
>whispy sublime dude
>Father, Son, Holy Ghost
>Sauron actually gets to order the universe
>Dagor Dagoroth clearly soon to come
>Eru's having a giggle
