So where's Disciples of Harmony?

At your local game shop, of course!

Alright, so all of Wave XI is spoiled, and we've got like 6 unannounced SKUs. I feel like it's time to take a strawpoll on what people think will show up in Wave XII.

Did this before Wave XI and some people actually guessed right!

strawpoll.com/6fez9fe

On a similar subject, do you think FFG can/would ever make an OG ship for Standard Play, like they did with the Raider for Epic?

Are there any Star Wars skirmish games I could play using IA minis? Something like Kill Team or Necromunda would be great.

Fill in the blank:

The best possible use of 33 Imperial points is; _________

Is there any way in the game, using any combination of Specializations and talents, to hit multiple enemies with one action using a melee attack? TWF and saberstaff shenanigans only allow hitting the same target multiple times.

Ryad, x7, TIE mk II

Juno Eclipse with VI, ATC, and prockets with GC. She destroys a good chunk of the meta, but is not a ship for the faint of heart.

I'd take crackshot over Mk. IIs honestly, especially on Ryad.

Had some really, really silly games today. I ran Two Tansarii Vets with Fearlessness and Arc Caster being supporter by VI Serissu with TB. List was rounded out with a Genesis Red with VI and HLC. I utterly destroyed my opponent on the joust, which he really didn't have much say in because of the TB.

Next game I took out an old list with Carnor/Zertik/Kagi. It used to be a Palp list but I instead swapped out those 8 points for other upgrades on Kagi, inspiring recruit, Rebel captive, and some other jank. Turns out mindlink doesn't work when your entire list is range one of Carnor. Which then doesn't get its range modifiers, and Kagi says hi to those K4 TLs. It did alright, going to have to try it again.

Also I watched a game where Sunny rolled three crits, which then became four. Needless to say the HWK did not survive. Sunny is honestly a pretty damn good use of 12 points.

So guys I keep seeing people talking about how great Integrated Astromech is, and I dont get it.

It's free, and that's nice, but at the same time being able to throw away the bonus from an astromech to negate one damage doesnt exactly seem mind blowing to me.
That said, I'm new so am probably missing something important - can anyone redpill me on IA?

It's essentially one extra hull for 0 points. You chuck the astro as a last resort

Night Beast and Backstabber, both with Tie Mk2, and 1 point initiative bid.

You also get to say "nope!" to any one critical hit.

Backdraft w/ FCS, pattern, frame, trick shot

Inquisitor w/ PtL, autos, title

Soontir w/ PtL, autos

Our group's trying out EotE for the first time time this weekend, none of us have any experience with the system. What are the most popular/accepted houserules or tweaks to look out for, or is vanilla perfectly fine?
Also I heard starship combat was a total mess?

Yeah, check out the OP for some starship combat fixes.

And it's not really a total mess - the problem is more than its just incredibly deadly, and if your ship goes that's probably a TPK and end of the campaign.

Has anyone here tried this? Yay or nay?

Is that the D20 based skirmish game, where you alternate activating dudes? If yes, then it is fun for a while but most of the tactical options seemed to be determined by list building.

That seems like an easy fix, thanks.

What is the most cumbersome (as in requires the most brawn to use) weapon in EotE/AoR/FaD? Our party has a droid who is gunning down a heavy weapons guy tree and he's wanting to wield the most unreasonably large weapon possible eventually. We're just starting out but he can get up to 4 now, 5 soon with burly, and more with mods. His tree has burly 2 more times which means he can get up to 7 without mods, 8-9 if he bumps his stats.

He's talking that he wants to literally rip a weapon off of a starfighter and use it.

I'm not sure, I'm having trouble finding info on it. Do you know any other skirmish systems for Star Wars? Doesn't have to be licensed, just looking for a good way to play Star Wars in a skirmish style game.

Imperial Assault is a Star Wars skirmish game.

Isn't it more of a boardgame? I was looking for something more akin to Kill Team or Shadow War: Armageddon.

There's the Wizards Star Wars miniatures game

It has 2 modes- Skirmish, and Campaign. Campaign is much more board-gamey, skirmish is closer to a traditional skirmish game. I've seen people make some pretty interesting scenarios for IA games.

IA skirmish is a skirmish game that just uses a grid board to play on. It's really good.

Squadron play in Armada is really annoying, I don't know how people play bomber lists for months on end. Everything's so clustered and imprecise.

I'll look into that, thanks!
That sounds really cool. I'll probably pick a box up soon, even if only for the miniatures. Sounds like a good game too.

the heavy repeating blaster, cumbersome 5 and packs a whallop
bonus points for being a space 50cal
normally mounted on a tripod, it would probably need a separate energy and coolant tank, so your character would roadblock from GI joe

some kind of double barreled blaster like the flamer-gun hybrid from aliens if you allow your players to fiddle with their equipment

The starfighters of adumar houserule compilation is very good. We use the dogfighting and shields rules and they work well.

Is there a /swg/ Discord?

>like the flamer-gun hybrid from aliens
That wasn't a hybrid, that was Ripley duct taping a flamer to a pulse rifle.

EotE doesn't have space tape yet does it?

I'm running a tie swarm this weekend for a store championship.

I hear the bog-standard list is Howlrunner, 2 omega pilots, and 3 black pilots all with crackpot, but I want to have some fun with it.

I haven't seen the math on it, can someone run some math on rage and focus versus normal howlrunner and focus?

Black crack, wampa, youngster with rage, scourge crack, mithel crack, Epsilon leader.

It might constrict me to a tighter dial when I go in to kill with rage, but Epsilon leader ensures I could do it every turn, or k-turn endlessly to combat defenders.

If I lose Howlrunner, I lose rerolls. If I lose youngster, I lose rerolls. Only difference is pilot skill and crackshot access. Although rage lets me get full refills at R1 and can activate if I detach a blocker.

Well, for a start, you only really use it for REALLY bad crits, or because to not use it would kill you. If it's a diferrence between losing a 1pt Astromech or a 21+ pt X-Wing, you'd take the Astromech every time.

Secondly, you choose to use it AFTER you see what a crit is. So, you can better choose when to use it.

Thirdly, it works on Kylo Rens ability. So you can prevent him from blinding your Poe right before an important attack.

Fourthly the Droid that gives you a free EPT slot has no real purpose past the squadron construction step of the game and you can dump that guy for an extra HP on demand whenever you like.

Plus, what ELSE are you going to put into that mod slot? Guidance Chimps maybe if you're running Torps?

The only houserules I can think of being common are the starship combat tweaks, either Shipfag's or someone else's, and making cover more effective.

EotE really isn't a mess nor is its starship fighting, it's just as said it's a deadlier system than people realize and starship combat is particularly deadly and when you first run it it's fairly confusing. Loads better than D6 and Saga's space combat though if you've ever played them.

I'll run the math when i'm not on a phone, but it's not mutch better, and that stress is *brutal*

You need crack to punch through most shit as well.

Lastly, if you are seriously trying to have a Kturn contest against a defender, you just lost. You need to flank those things to stop their action economy. If you let them 4k forever, focus+evade+3 defense dice means they will outlast you.

Is proxying cards for x wing frowned upon? I'm just starting out but I don't have the time and money to hunt down every physical card I would need

Ship combat sure looks pretty deadly. Ran EotE beginner box, and those TIE's at the end almost blew up that YT-1300. No idea if I forgot to check something or if things are really that hard on players.

And it only gets worse if the players DARE to fly anything smaller than a Firespray.

Thoughts on this? Will it make the starviper not shit?

Forgot pic cause I'm a dummy

>Will it make the starviper not shit?

Yes.

As for my full thoughts on it, I sat in front of a microphone and recorded them which may be slightly better than trying to recount them here:
youtube.com/watch?v=7l5mV8zlemk

I mean if it were me I'd just say proxy whatever upgrades you want. Not sure about your local scene and if you're doing an official event of course you need the real deal.

The HOB Heavy Repeating Blaster in Dangerous Covenants. Cumbersome 6, 10 encumbrance, 15 damage with pierce 2, at extreme range. It's so heavy, it fires from Gunnery.

Is Y-Wing out of production or just in short stock?

FUCK YEAH, LEAST WANTED

I didnt realise you could actively choose which thing to negate, so I guess yeah that actually makes it a pretty big difference.

MIght have to play with it a bit more then

I'm personally excited because I've always wanted the khiraxz to be better also the models look sexy, as per usual

Just short on stock. nothing is ever OOP.

Here are the numbers-

At range 2/3, you go from 1.83 to 1.875 hits on average.

At range 1, you go from 2.68 hits to 2.81 hits.
In exchange, you have a greater action dependency, a different howlrunner (Epsilon Leader instead of Howl) and a much more predictable dial.

I would stick with the howl+3 black crack +36 points of whatever, it's tried and true.

good suggestions include

- 3x Academy pilots
- 2x Omega Squadrons with Crack
- Scourge and Mauler with Crack
- Black with Crack and Zeta Leader with Crack.
- 36 or less points of ace.

Unless you're in a sanctioned event I would be blown away to meet anybody who gives a shit.

Even in a sanctioned event, you can likely borrow the cards you need from someone else. The only reason someone would say no is if you are asking for something like nothing but Palp/R3-A2 priced cards and they don't trust you.

a couple weeks ago, I mailed someone in this thread a copy of PTL because they needed one, and he was able to get someone to give him a copy of BB-8 at his first tournament.

It's not like the cards are worth much money aside from a few exceptions.

Should we try to set up some sort of card trading system?

Is crackshot really better than wired on zeta leader? What about including wampa?

I'm leaning on 3 black, mauler, scourge, howl a'll with crack, or 4 black crack, howl crack, zeta wired.

If you can afford a tech slot, wired is better. It's more of a late game card.

neither is better than the other. If you can afford Weapons Guidance, Wired is probably better though.

The reasoning behind this is that Zeta usually shoots first, and he has a focus. You'll probably only roll 1 focus most attacks. Rerolling it when you have a focus is just gambling, and unless there is a good payoff there (Weapons Guidance means you might save a focus, as if you roll it into a blank you will be fine) it's not worth it.

This does beg the question- Why not a comm relay for durability? Wired works here as a "oh shit I had to re-evade to turn my Comm relay back on" card here- more late game survival.

TLDR- Crack Shot for punishing people early game, Wired is late game but more situational.

Thanks for the analysis. What about wampa? Is it better to have the crackshot, or does his ability with a reroll make a difference?

>fly two YT-1300's
>guy brings out Empire
>brings out the TIE/sf
>Six ship list
>mfw

Also why aren't we doing thread editions anymore

Well, how bad was it?

Wampa is 1 point cheaper, deals less damage on the alpha, draws more aggro, and is there to fuck corran horn's day up.

Whether Wampa is in there or not is up to you. I don't put him in that often, mostly because regen ships tend to be my "chase after this at first and crackshot it to death" choice, and without Palp (and old-palp at that) backing, Wampa is unreliable.

If you get fucked by regen aces or insane amounts of token stacking, put wampa in there. If you see shit like YT-XX00's a lot, wampa isn't that great.

That's a lot of points- My TIE/SF's cost 31 minimum, for a free-ept Omega Specialist with gear.

He had six ships? What was he running? Did you mean TIE/FO's?

I more just mean it's part of the rules of the game in tournaments. My experience parallels yours in that lending cards is very common. In Armada around here we do a lot of card/model lending (who actually wants to buy 4 Nebulons to play a gimmick list?).

A card trading system would probably be a good idea.

>Should we try to set up some sort of card trading system?

Nobody really wants to trade X-wing cards, but everybody seems totally okay with loaning and proxying. It's a bit weird, but it seems overall less toxic. Nobody is haunting organized play just to make advantageous trades with casual players that don't know any better.

Should we try making a google doc or similar? Make a want list of cards you need, and a list of cards you have spare?

As of now the only cards I need are Primed Thrusters and Thug Droids, but I have a lot of stuff I don't need- promo cards too.

>Have: Deadeye x15
>Want: Gencon Lando
>Willing to trade 1 to 2

Been there, done that.
No merit in the barter system. It's zero-sum.

Yea my friend asked to buy one of my cards that I have several copies of and hardly ever use and I still hesitated. I mean I wound up just giving it to him free but I guess I just like having a collection.

I meant more "here is shit I have if anyone wants it (ion projectors, PTL, VI, Stealth Device, assorted garbage), does anyone have these..." not really a barter system, more a 'pay it forward' type deal.

Either way, i'm only trying to get cards because while i normally provide all ships for my playgroup, we sometimes do go to tournaments, and I have to get cards for all 4 of our lists at once, lest someone is anal about it.

>i normally provide all ships for my playgroup

You are the problem.
Your playgroup is also the problem.

I don't mind, and apparently neither do you.
If you are affluent enough to support an entire group of X-wing players and not care, I can't see any reason why the extra handful of purchases should matter to you. Upgrades are mostly cheap and plentiful on eBay.

If you are not independently wealthy and you are supporting a playgroup you need to stop and never do it again.

If you are independently wealthy, hobby games simply don't matter as an expenditure no matter how profligate you care to be.

I built up my collection on my own while I was at college, and then moved and loaned out my collection to friends. I play more pickup games at my LGS than I do with friends, but since I have 95% of x-wing stuff among us, i let them borrow lists from me. Mostly since my collection is over 80% empire though, i lack some cards. Having this many TIES is good for hotac though.

What kind of paper do you print your proxy cards for x-wing? Is there a required standard you have to meet?

the paper needs to be THICC. Seriously though, I do cardstock.

how special snowflake would it be to try to acquire a Conqueror class gunship as a player vessel?

I mean, I'm pretty sure they're statted in a few systems so it's not like it's unexpected.

Off the top of my head, just Warrior/Aggressor's Sarlacc Sweep.

Well, there are probably a score or two times as many knock-offs floating around as the real things, so I'd say that laying hands on a 95% close enough (that is, statistically identical) copy would be reasonably plausible for anyone who really tried, but laying hands on a 100% genuine model (without getting scammed) would probably be an involved adventure diving deep into the world of capital ship fences and their associates

So I've been playing a SAGA game as a Trandoshan smuggler. The GM let me start out with a ship and a very advanced droid as the crew (a very advanced fembot that my character won off a renegade scientist in a card game) who stays on the ship. The idea is he was the runt of the litter that barely survived childhood, and he hates all things traditionally Trandoshan.

My girlfriend is playing as a runaway teenage twilek padawan masquerading as a full Jedi as she goes around trying to find her old family.

It's been fun so far.

That sounds like fun, what is the overall plot? The family thing? Also if palps wiped the jedi archives, what info does your girlfriend's character have to go on?

My players are:
>an ex clinetrooper turned bounty hunter, returned to soldier for the rebels
>a chiss smuggler thats outcast by the ascendancy
>a tech thats skipped out on his imperial dayjob with classified intel
>a noble whos family didnt agree with palp's new regime, and is now on the run
>a quirky r3 droid, who noone understands but the tech, since hes the only one who took binary.

They are supposed to be travelling to all the former separatist worlds to try and see if there are any old capital ships the rebels could scrap and use for their own fleet. It takes place right after yavin 4 so the rebels are really scattered in the race to establish echo base.

They just made it to vinsoth by escaping imperial interdiction forces, and decided that carrying cargo under a legitimate freight licence might save them some hassle with the Imps. The smuggler however decided that if he was hauling freight, he wanted to make real money, so he tried for illicit cargo. What happened next is completely SNAFU. and since combat rounds in saga are 6 seconds, BURNED DOWN a crack den/ryll den in about 7minutes top to bottom. Now they have the imps and space cartels chasing them.

they are the best, and did exactly what i thought they would

>what is the overall plot?
Something to do with a Sith holocron that a bunch of galactic players want.
>The family thing?
That's her own subplot
>Also if palps wiped the jedi archives, what info does your girlfriend's character have to go on?
Its set in the Old Repulic, not the Rebellion. She hasn't had much of a chance to dig into her own stuff yet.

There are no standards.
>this is how I proxy

10/10
Do you take comissions?

>No Pteradon Shuttle
>No Resistance Transport
>No Ark Angel
>No Xanadu Blood
>No V-19 Torrent
>No A-Wing v2
>No Sith Infiltrator

Your poll is bad and you should feel bad about it.

3 Academy TIEs and creative accounting.

Omega leader with SD (or 3 bonus points), Comms, Juke, and 4 points to the rest of the list

>They still beleive the Assault Gunboat will come!

It's going to be Krennic's Shuttle for definite. Mining Guild TIE's seem highly possible because they're from Rebels. Guns for Hire will be included with it, and then we'll get a random wildcard Rebels choice people wont see coming, or want.

A Rogue 1 aces box for Y-Wings and X-Wings will be teased during the run of spoilers for the above.

...

Wave 12 is

>N-1 Starfighter
>Krennic's Shuttle
>Ark Angel Heavy Lifter

Late reveal of

>Kylo Ren's TIE
>Resistance A-Wing or Resistance Bomber

Most of those are terrible ideas.

Something I thought of last night, pretty sure that if FFG wants to keep anything resembling parity of ship numbers between factions, with another movie release coming out Wave XII will need to be a two Scum release - because otherwise Scum will be like two ship count behind the other factions (over all), not accounting for how the Rebels also get one version of the H-6.

Ehh, not bad i guess, but where does it see play? 11 point academy spam? N1, if it does come out, will arrive alongside the V-wing.

I'll bet money the 6 missing SKU's are as follows-

New A wing, new Tie Advanced/interceptor, new First Order bomber, new resistance bomber, Scarif Veterans, Heroes of the Empire (maybe Inferno Squadron themed?)

Remember, TLJ got delayed, and we got a shitload of scum stuff at once- the missing SKU's are TLJ related.

He might be good in some sort of janky 5 TIE shuttle, all Tactician, all LWF swarm. With Sienar on one, you have 3 pts for other upgrades?

Rush Hour 2.0 isn't that interesting.

Make it a slightly bigger point reduction and make him Huge only.

Shove him on a Raider and bring a thousand ties.

Point reduction needs to be bigger- his double mods are only really useful on punishers and bombers, meaning he will end up eating a crew slot and only saving 1 point on average in most lists, all while requiring you to take a crew-capable ship. You can't even spam acadamies well with it- howl, a bomber, and 6 PS 1 TIEs is all you can fit, and that's just a worse pattiswarm.

He would have to be appearing in somevsort of bomber or punisher list to have any useful gimmick.

He needs to need to decrease the cost of mods on TIEs- most ties go modless anyways due to mods being inefficient points for them- why would you take a mod like shield/hull/engine/etc when TIE/fo's exist, and so on- mods are usually only taken on either very expensive large ships, or on small ships where the mods are auto-take (autothrusters, chips, IA, etc).

Can we talk about the elephant in the room and how that's not a picture of Raith Sienar?

So, Wraith Squadron epic game.

Wedge Antilles, Wes Janson, 4 Red Squadron pilots, CR90 corvette with ordnance tubes for the Loran Spitball.
I have no other specifics for it yet - other than maybe swapping out a couple of the X-wings for Sabine TIEs (proxying in a normal TIE model)

How can I get even more thematic my dudes

Quick question /swg/. Is there any rule that says you can't activate two Force powers in one turn? Like, if you have a Talent that lets you use one as a maneuver. Would you be able to use one as a maneuver and then use your action to make a different power check?
