H8 the 8th edition Fuck new HH edition Primarchs are 12' manlets edition
The new HH rules looked like they'd be profoundly uninspiring, certain people got assblasted over the complaints, Primarch height and the origins of Imperial tanks were discussed. All this and more in the last thread >Thread FAQ pastebin.com/iUqNrrA8 ()
>30k TACTICA & TIPS What to include in a HH list, how to format it, what makes each legion special (crunch), tactics, Tutorials for Heresy-era minis and more pastebin.com/Tm2P4QLp ()
Dead thread for a dead game. Will HH ever recover from the move to 8E? Will the HH books ever be good again?

Brayden Ross
Perty a shit.
Jaxon Hernandez
Is anyone homebrewing rules for 30k armies in 8th edition? It seems pretty feasible to make a generic Legion list by using FW's profiles for all the vehicles and then basing the infantry on CSM and SM.
I have nothing against 7th, I just want to be able to use all my fancy 30k models against my friends that play 40k.
John Hughes
How would you do Legiones Astartes rules? Or Rites of War?
Josiah Evans
Are there any loyalist Forge Worlds or Taghmatas with interesting fluff? Dark Mech has Cyclothrathe and Xana.
Christian Perez
>dying to secure victory >not the most honourable thing ever Yes and you should have done this sooner How easy are 8th ed rules to learn I played a bit in 5th but didn't use stuff like morale tests from shooting casualties and I played tau
Jaxson Baker
Why the fuck would you want to move to 8E and be strapped to the sinking ship of GW rules?
GW will just fuck them up as always, now FW has complete control of them.
Thomas Bennett
Hey Curzefag, guess what?
Thramas
Isaac Martin
>now FW has complete control of them. >has complete control of new rulebook >doesn't fix any of the mistakes Bravo Forge World. The future is looking bright!
Jeremiah Evans
>How easy are 8th ed rules to learn It's very easy, the only clunky and unintuitive part is how models move in close combat. Other than that it flows very smoothly and only has 8 pages of core rules to learn, the complexity comes from unit profiles and optional advanced rules.
Benjamin Gomez
The main rules for 7E were fine, they were pretty much 90% of what we had in 3E and 4E. The problems are well documented so suffice to say that I'm sure they wouldn't take much tinkering to make them good.
The only problem is that no one's very experienced with 8th ed yet, so don't expect great balance yet (not that there was balance when playing 7th ed games).
Andrew Phillips
8th ed. looks like it's meant for smaller games than we're used to in 30k. Isn't that a major impediment? We'll all be playing Centurion games, basically.
Chase Collins
Exactly what I was looking for, thanks.
Anthony Murphy
How is 7th any more inherently suited for larger games?
Hunter Russell
I've played two games of 3k points in 8th and if anything 8th works even better with large matches than 7th does. Not being forced to spread out to avoid templates, not having to roll scatter and argue how many hits you got and not having to check vehicle facings really helps speed things up, definitely worth the loss of granularity in my opinion.
Grayson Barnes
Oh, good to hear. I was afraid all the modifiers and wound-tracking would slow it down too much.
David Hall
I think he just means that as vehicles cost more our armies at 2000pts will be smaller than what we're used to.
>Redneck World Eaters ...Not sure if I needed this.
Elijah White
Surprised that no one has tried it yet.
Nicholas Cook
What did you think WE recruited from the Gun Clans were?
Grayson Ortiz
B-burn this!
Asher Sanchez
Ragemarines with guns?
Daniel Cruz
Low quality
Bentley Thompson
My mental image of the Bodt Gun Clans was the War Boys from Mad Max. So not that far off actually.

Please rate my latest. Loyalist, like all good 30k Iron warriors players of course.

Data point of one, but Astartes wielding 8ft bee launchers is a fucking horrifying concept.

looks clean but idk about the hazards on the helmets. Kinda overdoing the amount of stripes when they ALL have it.
Julian Peterson
What is the anime figure to the right?
Elijah Clark
Checked. I hate your hazard markings. They work best when they're used sparingly and irregular. The lines are absolutely dreadful. Mask with tape if you can't paint straight.
Matthew Myers
Chakia, Yui from Muv Luv and Sakuya from touhou. I don't normally display them but I have a barracks inspection and want to creep out my 1st sergeant.
Ayden Jenkins

Thomas Ramirez
My first attempts at freehand. Its hard to get tape that small and effective. It doesn't help that I crushed my dominate hand a few years back during a deployment. I'll keep working on it.
Dominic Morris
They are average for individual models. I've seen stripes like that for IW missile launchers
Jordan Lopez
Good on you for going loyalist, but I think the hazard stripes on the beaks aren't good. I'd paint over those, but otherwise I like 'em. 10/10 would defend Sotha with.
Alexander Parker
what this user says, bee launchers are fuckin great. I like 'em.
Aaron Martinez
Cute Chika. Take this.
Josiah Reyes
Ok, what the fuck is going on in this Perterarbo book? Its weirdly pornographic
Ryder Campbell
>Neil: There won’t be any major changes to the game. Instead, the rulebook is designed to be a better resource for Horus Heresy players dedicated to your needs during a game and filled with information relevant to you. A good example of this is the Special Rules section; rules not present in the Horus Heresy like And They Shall Know No Fear won’t be featured, while common rules like Legiones Astartes and Agile will be, making this section, and the book as a whole, much easier to use as a reference guide for Battles in the Age of Darkness.
Enjoy your perma-7, HHcucks.
Isaiah Perry
Elaborate.
Tyler Peterson
If you got it from here an user edited it before sharing.
Joseph Jenkins
Ok, well to whoever did it its a really pleasent surprise. I can't stop laughing

>We really think your 300+point vehicles dying to a single shot is solid balance, and have made no attempt to fix anything that is glaringly wrong with our game.
Woo. So excited for a stagnant ruleset. Yaaaay.
Adam Thomas
>Not being forced to spread out to avoid templates, not having to roll scatter and argue how many hits you got and not having to check vehicle facings really helps speed things up, definitely worth the loss of granularity in my opinion.
This sort of stuff would be a total dealbreaker in a WWII or modern game, so why shouldn't 30k be given the same level of "respect" (yes I know it's a daddy issues toy soldier game)?
It seems to me that some people hated formations and deathstars so much that they welcomed all the other massive changes and didn't care what else was broken in the process.
Cameron Phillips
>Woo. So excited for a stagnant ruleset. Yaaaay.
What in the world is wrong with heavy tanks dying from a single shot? It's not like that isn't the norm in the real world and in the 30k lore.
I guess enjoy the RTS style DPS hit point attrition game that is 8th.
It's SOOO cinematic.
Brayden Perez
Aren't practically all marines recruited from feral worlds redneck marines, though?
Jayden Phillips
>Aren't practically all marines recruited from feral worlds redneck marines, though?
Do Whitescars count as feral?
Daniel Phillips
According to Fulgrim they are.
Joseph Clark

This is the second time this has happened, the guilliman primarch book had the same, with Bobby G fisting Marius

So 40k player here just wondering what you guys think about the shitshow that are the new FW indices for 8th? Now I've heard FW lost their main(?) rules writer and I'm wondering if thats what its about? Are you guys worried about the poor quality rulewise of the recent FW books? I'd heard Inferno was pretty shit as well.
Matthew Ramirez
Those proportions hurt to look at.
Hunter Rivera
I-is he a m-midget?
Matthew Stewart
doesn't look that bad to me
Jacob Murphy
I will say that 8th looks smoother, but it's so much less satisfying. You fire a couple Neutron Lasers into a Land Raider and it feels like you're just smashing wounds effortlessly off a giant sponge, even with the degrade charts. The fact that there's almost nothing to the tactics beyond matching suitable guns and melee capabilities to targets (even more so than 7e, since there's no reserve rolls, risky deepstrike or other shit that allow the you to do much other than walk, and everything has Split Fire) and they made wounding simpler it's hard for a weapon to have a niche like Dragoons in 7e or something. You're either an infantry killer, medium killer or heavy killer and there's not much else on the table.
It may technically be a better game, but it just feels so bland and soulless. Armies aren't particularly unique, interesting weapons have just got Mortal Wounds or more AP instead of doing cool shit, no blast templates so you lose those glorious satisfying scatter rolls.
Mason Thompson
>When you nut but he keeps sucking
Aaron Cruz
share it I didn't catch it.
Anthony Stewart
>It may technically be a better game
I haven't seen a single thing that implies it's a better game, unless people think being able to roll dice and reliably remove all your models as casualties in 1.5 hours is what defines a good game and not much else.
Nathan Gray
Oh no, FW isn't going to completely rewrite 7th but is at best going to make minor tweaks! If only anyone with a brain hadn't assumed this would be the case weeks ago.
So long as we get all legions' units and characters in 7th before 8th I won't care.
William Hughes
>Armies aren't particularly unique Everything else aside, I keep hearing this but its not really a valid complaint until Codices come out.
Elijah White
No, Feral Worlds are barbarian marines.
Redneck marines come from the rural areas of Civilized Worlds. And possibly Agriworlds.
Colton Roberts
>So long as we get all legions' units and characters in 7th before 8th I won't care.
I bet 40k players love how every Chapter is the same now in 8th edition.
Gavin Bell
8th edition=Looser edition,it is soo fucking basic and annoyng
7th>th
Jordan Cooper
>Roboute Guilliman remained loyal to Terra. His ship was sternly decorated in gold, so much so that it rivalled that of Fulgrim’s vessel in ornamentation, but whereas the Gauntlet of Power was ornate, the Pride of the Emperor appeared vulgar. Its decoration had been applied with abandon – everything that could be adorned had been adorned. Back when the two ships had fought side by side, its extravagance had not been to the taste of the Ultramarines, who were born of more solemn worlds. Now it was an affront to decency, added to and added to again until tawdry obscured all trace of art. Neglect went hand in hand with this ostentation, and it made the Pride of the Emperor appear ugly. It was a decayed relic from a bygone age, like a theatre from a decadent century left to rot in the rain.
That wasn't even Macragge's Honour, Third is below Thirteenth in art.
Thomas Jackson
>Everything else aside, I keep hearing this but its not really a valid complaint until Codices come out.
And then the return of special rule bloat and power creep layered on top of a simplistic and flavorless rules framework breaks that disgusting trance that everyone who furiously defends 8th has been in for the last month.
Carson Reed
Thing is, we weren't allowed to complain before we got the rule leaks because "the problems may not be there", then the same before we got Index leaks and when we were debating the Faction Focusses. They went to the trouble of printing some reasonably hefty books and hyping them to shit, and they're about to start a global campaign. Unless you're Space Marines or Chaos Space Marines you're not looking at a codex for a good while, these are the bloody rules and that's it. Yes, I'm going to bitch they're a pile of bland bullshit with so many "they just didn't care" moments you could make a whole army from them. It would have been so easy to do it better THEN, as opposed to some nebulous point in the next few years
Admech players might pick up IA14 rather soon, but that doesn't fix the problems with the base army like everyone is saying the Codexes will, although I'm reserving judgement on my cogboys until after then.
Ayden Harris
the third towards the end of the HH became decadent, 100 years after their fall it's even worse.
Blake Thompson
I think too many of us have had bad experiences with an opponent insisting that the template is totally not covering as many men as we're claiming. >Oh, you think it's five under the template? Looks like two to me, and I'll give you a third on a 4+.
Nicholas Davis
Either it's a tournament setting in which case you can call a judge, or it's a casual setting where you can choose not to play with cheaters.
Matthew Walker
It really will take time to know whether it works or not. I was around when 2nd ed. gave way to 3rd, and at the beginning we were all using the bare-bones army lists in the main rulebook. Just a very few USRs, very little variation, lots of "use these minis as regular dudes."
Little by little, the codices brought back a little bit of the old flavor and slew of special rules. Not as much, since it was a bigger streamlining than 7th->8th, but some. That's when some imbalances snuck into the game too, of course (nothing as bad as 5th ed. and later).
Look at the difference between 7th ed. 40k and 30k - the same basic rules don't have as great an effect on the quality of the game as all the other things that get piled on top of them.
Robert Sanders
No, that's bullshit. I played plenty of 3e using the rulebook lists and the armies felt unique and varied. If they could do it 17 years ago they could do it now.
>reminder that the first 3e GT was won by rulebook Nids and not some fancy codex army
Ryder Edwards
>Look at the difference between 7th ed. 40k and 30k
30k has tactical strike and zone mortalis - both neat variants, but which barely get mentioned because players are stuck in the self imposed prison of giant battles on open terrain.
The root cause of the problem isn't the underlying rules set.
Evan Evans
>The stink of his corrupted brother made Guilliman gag. His head swam as the daemon primarch’s scent invaded his nose and throat, unmoderated by his battlehelm’s systems. Fulgrim even smells like pox walker, what a repulsive creature.

bobby quite literally threw up IIRC because of Fulgrims stank.
Blake Peterson
Is this a new form of ultramarine shitposting?
Hudson Flores
That's because at the time, armies had a limited set of units that fit their archetype. But people get mad if you release a codex without new units, so over the space of 15 years they unwittingly filled in the gaps and gave every army everything.
Anthony James
that's not bait that's a challenge pick up the blade and defend yourself, foul fishknave.
Charles Garcia
Worst fucking placement of Hazard Stripes I've ever seen.
Mason Peterson

Jason Hall
aint got much of an army painted yet, but I guess I could repost this mini bi-weekly until I get around to show more

Have you got some progress done with him user?
Evan Foster
Currently working in his eyes and face. Fucker is too detailed for my kills
Angel Campbell
Only the start of painting my IF, but I have too many Custodes painted
Oliver Taylor
Why did you start with your HQ?
Blake Robinson
yes but no pictures, I painted the bolter, assembled and primed a veteran seargant while waiting for my gold wash and other colours to arrive
Ryan Taylor
They were test models, honestly. Ended up with lots of extra bits and said "fuck it"
