What's the best ship of Star Wars and why is it the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer?

Help me out, /swg/. Me and some friends are gettting into x-wing and we're looking on recommendations for what ships to get after the core set. All factions are welcome since between all of us, someone will probably choose to focus on each faction.

Dream FFG Erratta for when wave 11 drops? Here's my ideal changes/wish list.

- Sabine only works on dial reveal bombs.
- Advanced Slam does not allow bombs to be dropped
- TLT now reads Attack (Target Lock)
- Biggs is either once per round or just obstructs ships at range 1 of him
- Jumpmaster adds points and strips the EPT from the Scout. Maybe make the dial worse.
- Mindlink only works in pairs/becomes a 2-dot unique.
- K4 Security Droid gives a target lock action.
- R3-A2 begins with "if you are not stressed"
- Kylo nerf somehow if the rest of these go through?

Maybe some sort of MoV change to discourage trying to have the Fattest Miranda as well.

Honestly, get whatever looks cool. From there, you can pick up a ship or two to finish up a collection or a list.

How many friends?

What looks cool to you?

>How many friends?
There's three plus me
>What looks cool to you?
I'm leaning towards either the Imperials or Scum ships such as the firespray, starviper, quadjumper, and tie defender. How are those?

>- Jumpmaster adds points and strips the EPT from the Scout. Maybe make the dial worse.

There's literally no way any of this will happen. The best we can hope for is that they make the Scout a unique.

>Sabine only works on dial reveal bombs.

If they added wording that makes Sabine's ability ONLY work at the end of the Activation phase when Bombs go off then they could make this work.

>- Advanced Slam does not allow bombs to be dropped

There's probably no way to make it so you can't drop Mines since those are an action. They could however reword SLAMM so that it counts as a non-maneouver like Boosting or Decloaking or Tractor Beaming.

>- Biggs is either once per round or just obstructs ships at range 1 of him

...I thought he already was range 1 only. Once per round would be an easy fix I'll grant, and would encourage swarm lists to return.

>- Mindlink only works in pairs/becomes a 2-dot unique.

Just make it Range 3 max. Or Range 1 if you want to bring it in line with Manaroo. Although this WOULD be a massive overnerf.

> K4 Security Droid gives a target lock action

Agreeable. Encourages more use of Inspiring Recruit, punishes Overclock abuse, yeah I see it.

> R3-A2 begins with "if you are not stressed"
I dunno, that nerfs other A2 holders, not just Y-Wings. I'd change it to Once Per Round so you can no longer abuse the Title to double Stress things. Although I'd argue Inspiring Recruits was FFG's answer to that already.

Firesprays take Skill, and are far better with Scum than Empire- Kath in particular does work. Empire firesprays only have 1 gimmick, and that is triple firespray. It's a generalist ship.

Starviper ATM is bad, but a fix/buff expansion has been spoiled. The Starviper will end up being an irregularly moving ship. Don't buy more than 1 for now. It comes with good upgrade cards for other ships though.

Quadjumpers are pretty good at fucking over aces and heavy bombers. They are feagile though. OTOH, they are cheap.

TIE defenders come in 2 flavors- TIE/x7 Defenders that put all power to engines- fast, evasive, and surviveable.

TIE/D defenders carry a cannon that they can shoot alongside their main gun. They are easier to shoot down, but their movement is less predictable and they hit hard. Imperial Veterans is the fix expansion for these guys.

Any idea how you want to fly? How many ships do you want in your list?

Im running a post order 66 game, characters are a mix of padawan jedi and force users. Any advice? I'm midway through the introductory adventure right now.

Quadjumpers fill that sort of slot in lists that TIE Strikers do, that 20-ish of leftover points you need to fill with something that's relatively solid if not out and out broken.

Green Squadron A-Wings are the closest Rebels get. They used to have FCS Dagger Squadron B-Wings, but those days are LONG gone.

Strikers don't really do that- they end up costing 23 if you don't just want a PS 1 scrub.

Really, the TIE Striker is kinda underwhelming. I do like 3 of them and a Hux shuttle though- shit's fun.

Immediately post-66?

The PCs are hunted. Every day they stay on a given world increases the chance of capture. Every soldier of the Republic wants them, personally, dead with a passion and dedication they could not possibly comprehend. Every official channel or communication is a death sentence. Anyone who helps them in any way? Yeah, they're dead too. Probably tortured to get any information they had, whether the PCs gave them any or not.

This is quite possibly the worst time in galactic history to be a Jedi. Make them feel it.

If it's some years after, the heat will probably be less severe. The clones bent on murdering them will have been phased out, and the PCs will have more plausible deniability ("Jedi? Nah, they're all gone"). Still, even the mightiest Jedi in the galaxy only survived by living in complete and total isolation. If the PCs aren't taking precautions, the long arm of the Empire should fall quickly and forcefully.

Yeah, low to mid 20 point bracket was what I was talking about. They aren't meant to carry games by themselves, just be a decently efficient points filler which I feel they are.
And by "they" I mean Pure Sabbac.

Shame that Pure Sabacc is the only really good striker.

>Edge of the Empire character creation by rolling dice
>I'm a bit of a /pol/tard
>roll "Cause: Non-human rights"
The entire table burst out in laughter.
What did the dice mean by this?

What's the major difference between Armada and X-wing? What would either game have to draw players to it specifically?

Maybe the dice want you to get silly. Go nuts and champion the cause of the goofiest Star Wars species you can find. Those hoojibs, energy spiders, lagomorphs, and glurrgs need a voice, user.

I guess you have to make a Space Justice Warrior now

Whaladon lives matter.

Trioculus lives matter more.

DARK GREETINGS

So for the Armada masterrace, who is going to be picking up and using the new Imperial transport?

I'm rebel scum so I will be getting hammerheads for my raider list.

>Any idea how you want to fly?
What kind of playstyles are there?
>How many ships do you want in your list?
I'm not too keen on flying swarms, they seem like too much work. I guess I'd probably like to fly anywhere between 2-5 ships

>Biggs is either once per round or just obstructs ships at range 1 of him
Justice for Gredo
Antenna up don't shoot.

I'm putting together some ideas for an EotE character, and the GM's allowing pretty much everything. I'm thinking of trying out a Force-assisted enforcer type character focused mostly into Coercion and Melee. The three main trees I want to go down are Enforcer, Aggressor, and Warden. My main issue is I don't want to be completely a combat monkey, so I was considering taking the Starfighter Ace tree and also being the group's pilot, since as of right now I'm pretty sure my career will be Warrior. I'm thinking though this is probably going to take a great deal of experience, especially if I go down the pilot tree as well. I've already decided that I should grab Enforcer early on for backstory purposes, but if I want to go the pilot route, I should probably start with Starfighter Ace so the group has a pilot they can use. What's the better option: should I start as a pilot and pick up some of the Enforcer stuff early, or should I just forget it and go full intimidator from the beginning?

Nice, how many are you planning to run? I'm desperately waiting for some Fighter Squads to come back into stock

Hey /swg/, I run Clone Wars Jedi stuff for my group when our other games fall through. I'm kind of running low on adventure ideas, though. The only real caveat is they have to be resolved in one session. Anybody got some suggestions?

>>- Biggs is either once per round or just obstructs ships at range 1 of him

>...I thought he already was range 1 only. Once per round would be an easy fix I'll grant, and would encourage swarm lists to return.

Obstructs as in asteroid obstruction.

Episodic stuff is basically just reactionary things most of the time-
>Someones mentor has an assassin after them
>CIS property developers are building a droid base on the space hippies land
>Trying to bring a neutral planet onside to the republic, meanwhile separatists have the same idea
>Hutt's steal the shiny meme item, go get it back

All that sort of stuff you can whip up after watching a few hours of cartoons or basing it off previous adventures as a bit of a loose end.

I'm normally an Imp player, but the Hammerheads make me want to play Rebs.
And I know that new Imp transport mostly from Rebellion, where the thing was used by the cheating fucking Rebel AI.

Man, i don't play Armada, but i'm half tempted to try it just for my favorite ever SW EU ship, the Quasar Fire. Fell in love when it was called the Alliance Escort Carrier back in Rebellion.

Is this from the Rebels animated series? I honestly have not heard of it prior to you mentioning it now. I gotta look into the history of this class of vessel, cause it's pretty unknown to me. How far back did it go in the EU?

youtube.com/watch?v=li5M3dWszBE

I am now nothing but classic Scooby Doo music.

Pretty sure it goes back to the old WEG days

How would the emperor react to a Moff going full Space ISIS? Daily decaptations and cruel and unusual of rebel sympathizers. Suicidal loyalty instilled in stormtroopers to the point they carry visible thermal detonators so they can take out wavering imperials looking to switch sides. He worships you as a god even to express his loyalty that if you tell him to die for the emperor he would do so with the fleet

Do ypu reward him or get rid of him even though he has made his system a no go zone for any resistancr not named the Partisans?

The local seppies have dug up a Dark Jedi who's causing all sorts of ill shit.
Find and whack his ass

Well, you should indeed think about playing Armada. Naval combat in space is fun mm kay?

Can we ban turrets yet?
This shit is BORING.

I just want to have dogfights in my godamn dogfighting game.

These twisting cannons need to be reset.
This is what V2 was for.

More 40k than star wars really

I was only going to run two as I have a pretty solid reliance on squadrons and an ass frigate mk2 built into my list ATM.

Cool, I may do just one Imperial transport, I'm running two interdictors. Not sure how two inters, plus a ton of fighter squads will work out...

Yeah, I like the idea of throwing boarding troops in and Hondo would go over well on my neb

I'm still sort of new to Armada. Are there more space obstacle tokens, and "terrain" than the few tokens that comes in the Core Box?

I think so but I don't have most of the expansions myself.

Same... I'm squirreling away some money for The Correllian conflict, and like I said a few packs of the Tie Squadrons One sets.

First appearance was Truce at Bakura, first time i personally saw the way it looked was Star Wars: Rebellion

Question to armadafans. Can you divide armada ships by tier level? I heard it that all ships are usefull, but what expansions are must have?

>Must have expansions
For rebels, GR-75 and CR90 are must have for sure. Having something small to points fill with is huge and CR-90s are pretty great right now, even with the recent erratas. Add in MC-30 for strongest solo ship in the rebel arsenal. Nebulon fits here too but only if you can get the squadron packs, because Yavaris is fucking cheating and will continue to be cheating.

For imps must have is the gladiator and probably the upcoming quasar with the caveat you need the fighters to go along with it. Gozanti might also fit, it wavers between this and breddy gud.

>breddy gud, not essential but quick purchases
HMC80 is super fun, and the new releases have given it new life. I built a list with it, a CR-90 with turbolaser reroute circuits and 3 GR-75s and had the time of my life because of my flying whale.

Arquitens, ISD, Raider is probably on this tier if you picked up the Quasar thanks to disposable capacitors, and its the best budget ship since it has a bunch of anti squadron items attached to it. ISDs are great, arquitens are really solid but you really want to have 2.

>fun at best
Assault frigate Mk 2 is my favorite ship to fly and painfully okay. LMC80 is trying to be and ISD but just can't manage it.

VSDs are at this tier and could be above if you give them disposable capacitors, but I'm never blown away by VSDs. They're just too slow to be relevant.

>absolute shit tier
Peltas are godawful, probably the worst rebel ship. Hammerheads are probably going to be here, but I really want to play with them before I hit them with that assessment.

Interdictors are here too. fun, really bad. Might shift up a tier with disposable capacitors.

Looking at Edge of the Empire, I noticed that Modder gets 2 Resolve talents, but I can't see anything in the Technician specs to use them on.
Are they meant to be an incentive for other careers to cross into Technician, or am I missing something glaringly obvious?

Do you guys think Imperial Assault will go past the original trilogy? I've played FF's Straight Wars LCG and it has chatacters in it from the old EU, so could that be a possibility? I'd fucking love minis for Thrawn and Mara Jade.

Star Wars**** sorry I'm on mobile at the moment

>- Biggs is either once per round or just obstructs ships at range 1 of him
>...I thought he already was range 1 only. Once per round would be an easy fix I'll grant, and would encourage swarm lists to return.

Obstruction means you add 1 evasive die due to objects in the line of fire. Shooting through asteroids does this the most, but combined with shooting at long range could mean biggs honestly becomes MORE helpful than he currently is.

You could now run a t65 list with fancy formation flying to keep long range turret lists at bay by keeping range and staying obstructed due to biggs. Also he would see higher survivability since he wouldnt bullet-sponge, just support.

Im allfor that change to biggs.

Maybe, but maybe not. Remember that most of that EU stuff Disney wants to jedi mind trick us into forgetting. I would like to see some more variety of models. Moving into prequels would be neat.

What i really want is the return of the model count the old star wars miniatures had, that they used in conjunction with the old Saga edition d20.

That had prequels to EU and even had kickass vong figures. Im not a huge fan of the vong, but i like the aesthetics of their stuff.

they put the prisoners near the engine, officials and the bridge? The idiocy level of empire always impresses me ...

You see, Gilad, when you put prisoners near engine and bridge, Rebel scum will hesitate to shoot engines and bridge for fear of harming fellow Rebel scum on Star Destroyer.

To be fair, they probably cant carry all that many prisoners - certainly not enough to threaten the ship's number of armed crew/stormtroopers.
Unless its Kyle Katarn of course.

You'll note however that they're as far as possible away from the hangar bay, so they cant escape.

>Moving into prequels would be neat.
No.
>had kickass vong figures
Figures were disgusting.

But its so convenient when you want to get rid of them!

Just because they're near in a linear fashion does not mean that there is a short route for them to take from there

Yeah, but this is the Empire. You know there will be a turbolift in that section that goes DIRECTLY to the bridge.

Only if you spend a Destiny point or got a triumph there tiger

Fuck, I think there IS a turbolift in that section that goes directly to the bridge level. At least if I remember the adventure that map came from right.

Alright, have a good day sir. Enjoy being salty with your opinions.

>Prequelfag calls someone a shitposter.
Oh boi, here we go again.

...

Thrawn is in Destiny now and has been in Rebels, so he wouldn't be a surprise in IA.

IA hasn't gone full Rebels yet, just Hera/Chopper/Inquisitior, but that's there. Rogue One is a possibility. I would love to see Kylo and Clones in there.

>tfw Domino Squad gets aced by a fucking Wequay

>Krennic and his elite troopers in IA
>Jyn, Cassian, and the rest of the gang in IA
Aww shit sign me the fuck up.

When are getting moustache bro in X-Wing though for fucks sake.

>Raith Sienar card
>Uses an image of Bevel Lemelisk

>our opinions dont perfectly match so im gonna get mad
You are gonna love the internet, and other people in general

>When are getting moustache bro in X-Wing
We've had a mustache bro since day 1, m8.

That's the only image of Raith and it's trash. Find me another bit of art for a guy in an Imperial type getup and I'll change it.

Here's one of him in his later years.

Yep, keep posting, prequel apologist.

They keep prisoners near the most heavily-guarded areas of the ship? Absolute lunacy! It's even worse in real life. Prisoners are often kept near policemen, with guns! Talk about stupidity.

You know what I mean.

Apologist? Where were my apologies?

The man, the mustache, the legend is more of an Armada man than an XWM man, user.

I doubt it.

I also think the diagram in OP isn't of an ISD2 but a Victory class. Victory classes had prisoner capacity as opposed to the limited capacity on the ISD2, so maybe that's why a larger section is dedicated to it.

Speaking of which, do MC80s have prisoner bays? I don't think I've ever heard of them having one. Hell, I don't think I've ever seen accurate designs or art of an MC80 interior. I'd imagine it'd be small if it did just like the ISD2. Regular SDs and Moncal Cruisers are meant for killing, not capturing.

Breaking out of an MC80 sounds like a fun idea for an Imperial campaign, especially if you just make up what's inside because no one knows for sure.

Eh, you make a fair point.
We can have a fighter moustache and a capital moustache though

I dont have a source, but i seem to remember that all the moncal stuff are individuals on the interior. They started as cruise liners and so they all have funky interiors based on what/who they were cruise lining for. Also they are individually built in the moncal orbital yards.

In this way they all look similar, but no two are identical, preventing the empire from exploiting a single, universal weakness.

Now it boils down to the question of whether the Rogue One mustache has the power to oust Biggs from his throne. Seriously, I'd like to see more incentives to fly non-Biggs T-65s in this meta. Fingers crossed for a card ability that has synergy with the other T-65 aces.

>all moncal cruisers are unique

I like that aspect, and it really does let you just make shit up on the fly if you run one regardless of the campaign side.

Now I want to run an MC80 break out. Maybe one cruiser has an area for sports or recreation from its cruise liner days and was converted into a brig?

What's a good -tough- pistol wielding combat/partial combat specialization? I'm just wanting a specialization to boost my smuggler/thief's combat survivability a little bit. I've looked at scoundrel and gunslinger a bit but they both seem very offensively geared without exactly a ton of (cheap at least) defensive abilities. Sidestep or more dodge would be nice but mostly i'm looking for even a little bit of toughened.

It just seems like with what I'm looking for taking a cross class specialization that has cheap access to these things may be more efficient than pumping 20-40 points into smuggler to get access to the same talents.

A breakout could be fun, especially if they run into Imperial Intelligence. The reverse of that old starwars comic about Bigg's origins in the imperial academy fighter program, the defecting. I dont know if a rebel crew has ever been bought or threatened into surrendering or defecting to an Imperial fleet. Could be really cool.

Yes? You called?

>I dont know if a rebel crew has ever been bought or threatened into surrendering or defecting to an Imperial fleet

There were plenty of Rebel-to-Imperial defectors, there's just more full stories about Imperial defectors rather than the mostly-background info of Rebel defectors. The Empire is also a lot more suspicious of Rebel defectors than Rebels are of Imperial defectors, even though Rebels too are fairly paranoid about ex-Imperials joining them.

That's an interesting idea though similar to what happened with the Rebel CIS battleship where the Empire hired a guy on the inside.

The crew PCs serve as disillusioned janitors and suddenly get an offer of huge amounts of credits to take down the MC80 from the inside to allow a small Imperial raiding party to get past unopposed. The janitors have been looked down on by the rest of the crew but because they're so familiar with the ship they know it well enough to fuck it over. Janitors breaking out of an MC80 to break the bank and join the Empire.

This incarnation is interesting, but is likely combobait.

Also to, to remove the apostrophes from the card, you might want to re-word it slightly.

It's good, but i'm trying to figure out the best possible use for it.

Death Troopers in IA when?

> (You)
>The crew PCs serve as disillusioned janitors and suddenly get an offer of huge amounts of credits to take down the MC80 from the inside to allow a small Imperial raiding party to get past unopposed. The janitors have been looked down on by the rest of the crew but because they're so familiar with the ship they know it well enough to fuck it over. Janitors breaking out of an MC80 to break the bank and join the Empire.

Chump change, here is what REALLY happened:
>players are shitty janitors that are jealous of the fact cleaning droids do their jobs for them, better than they do. They decide to fuck shit up and just become space murderhobos for the lulz. After they get tired of getting looked down on by the crew, they call an Imperial fleet janitorial union and find out they could be getting paid 2 credits more an hour to supervise the droids that clean. They dont know how to deal with that much money, and willingly betray the rebel crew to the Empire. After the coup goes all according to plan, they decide that they are done withh the fast life, and write a top hitting book about their experiences that goes viral. "The Dirty SIde of Cleaning for Scum" goes big, and the players become rich. The book eventually becomes a musical, that breaks our hearts, as well as box office records.

>"I have seen many beautiful things in my lifetime, and I have heard many tragedies, but no piece has ever moved me to tears. None, indeed, until I attended a performance of 'The Dirty Side of Cleaning for Scum'. Highly recommended." - Emperor Sheev Palpatine

Where'd all the memes about Raith Sienar come from anyways

So apparently the July 13 release date was confirmed for X-wing wave 11.

What amount of splash do you think this is going to have on the Store Champs scene?

Them and Krennic by GenCon mebbe? Along with Wave 12 previews?

Here. Basically.

I really like the atheistic of MC80s being modified cruise ships. I always imagine stuff like ragged, battle-weary soldiers eating crappy rations in high-class restaurants or doing drills in an aerobics room.

>5 out of 5 stars, it was a perfect portrayal of life as a rebel janitor, wanting more in life than hidden bases full of hidden messes.

No idea. We'll see some more practical data on whatever internet bullshit lists people have slapped together since the spoilers, though. So expect to see some assholes shaking things up with a Cad Bane jump.

Curious to see what our unspoileds are. I think it's just the AG dial and then Cruise Missiles and the Astro from the H-6 left. Oh, and I guess the PS3 generics on the Auzituck and H-6.

Fellow loyal citizines of the Empire I come seeking advice on flying against scum and villainy.

They're fucking unpredictable it seems... Like rebels on roids.. Except I keep rebels in their place.

Is there ANYONE on Veeky Forums who actually likes the filthy rebels more than the glorious Empire?
>childhood is idolizing Luke and his terrorist, naive friends
>adulthood is realizing the only reason the galaxy isn't a complete shithole is because the strong arm of the Empire holds it together

>adulthood is realizing the only reason the galaxy isn't a complete shithole is because the strong arm of the Empire holds it together

You mean AFTER the Emperor started a war and shat over it in the first place?
