Do you want art or concepts user?

Really, I"m good with either

How fun that special sauce must be.

Are those Vodyanoi Cravers?

Prime skin.
Why is Endless space 2 so underrated a game.

I have no idea. Cravers are fucking amazing.

Prime craver? The fuck. Love me some endless space (one and two.)

This thread is gold, thank you OP. I have been writing up short concept descriptions for some aliens in my game, but haven't been able to find some good art yet. Take this.

Niche genre, nigh-unknown publisher, buggy release, early access slow burn.

...

...

You prefer them mostly humanoid or is there room for some more esoteric designs.

I like weird. I like to use them sparingly so players don't get too desensitized, but I like options

Aliens not my thing, but maybe this might inspire:

>Underwater civilization without fire nor magic

What about Riftborn? Got a few of these babehs

Aw hell yeah. I'm a sucker for anything black, white, and gold. Plus their abstract, modern art robots look is awesome

Aighty then

...

Don't agree with the artists views, but he does draw some okay fucked up things.

>tfw you will never have strong warrior waifu from another dimension.

does it have teeth or does it digest you whole.

Well its a bottom feeder so its more that it slowly eats your rotting boddy by suckling on it. Its also covered in slime that speeds up the process.

...

I was kinda disapointed that the riftborn were just robots. They are some otherdimensional perfectionbeasts and they turn out to be generic beep boops.

At least i'll be dead when it suckles me to death.

I'd assume it kills you, then drags you to a rot pit, to ferment.
Probably great booze and yoghurt makers.

They weren't though. They had a very solid theme of hating everything organic about the universe.

My favorite unique alien design is this:

Torso of a squid with massive eyes on the sides of the body, arms of a raptor tucked under, legs of a heron, mouth that opens like a flower with multiple jaws that close on a point.

Well they're not just beep boops, they're Quasi-robotic Other-dimensional beep boops. better than any generic beep boops.

I like to come up with terrifying creatures by flipping the food chain. Starfish, lady bugs, and wasps would would be terrifying if you go by description alone.

Massive armored shell that allows it to fear nothing. Multiple legs. Sharp teeth that can remove limbs. Voracious appetite to the point it can eat over a hundred livestock a day. Brightly colored because it is so badass it doesn't give a single fuck about camouflage. And it can fucking fly. The lady bug.

Multiple tentacles covered in lumps. Faster than it's prey so it pulls in every smaller, edible animal in it's path. If you chop them apart, new ones form from every piece. It eats by spitting it's stomach out inside out, envelopes things in it's sticky bag, and slowly digests them. Starfish.

The only thing that hunts one of the top predators. It seeks one out, stabs it with a paralyzer and lays eggs in it's body. The babies know to save it's important organs for last so it will live as long as possible. A specific species of wasp that hunts tarantulas.

Behold, the perfect alien race.

Jesus christ wasps are terrifying.

...

You forgot one vital part of the star fish: Their skin can literally stop bullets. They're almost as hard as steel when it comes to hard impact.

...

You ever wonder if Quasi-robots make porn?

It'd have to be robo-porn. They hate microorganisms in the air, so the thought of being with an organic would be hellish to them.

Alright i'm done, here's some links to some artists that did ES2 stuff.

I did some shitty sketches about the aliens in my space opera setting. Anybody else has some interesting xenos they've come up with?

Never knew that. Definitely would make any adventurer facing a giant one truly feel like the gods hate them.

Hydrogen-Based Life
(Frozen worlds below -250° F or Gas Giants)
live on land ( desert)

Trappers
They often have an advantage connected
to their trap mechanism, like
Binding or Tunneling, and frequently
have a fast-acting Innate Attack or
Affliction to subdue victims (on Earth
this is usually poison, but aliens might
use electric shocks, acid, or psionics).
They may have racial skill in
Camouflage, or some form of
Chameleon ability.
Slithering
No Legs (Slithering) disadvantage.
On low-friction surfaces like water,
ice, or loose sand, creatures can slide
along. This is especially useful if one
can get help from gravity and thereby
achieve high speeds without expending
any energy. This would be Terrain
Adaptation (by terrain), or a 1-point
perk (built-in skates), which would
then require a racial skill level in
Skating or Skiing. Sliding can be combined
with sailing (below), and probably
requires walking or some other
form of locomotion as a backup.

That's qt user, how old are you?

What should I read/watch to help me understand how to brew races and species that aren't just generic looking or slight alterations and hybridizations of Earth life?

OP, check out the alien portraits in Stellaris. They are a mix of a familiarity and alien.

>Hydrogen-Based Life

Yeah, swapping out an atom with four covalent binding "slots" for one with only one as your main chemical building block is gonna work great.

I very much recommend the dark crystal for your alien related needs

Nothing, just gave up.

From psychological standpoint and from Veeky Forums one to, ive been here and never ever seen a thread about real 'alien' aliens that ended good.

The color from outer space

1: Go find Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials
2: Read the books about the aliens you are most interested in.
3: ????
4:Profit.

Older than you probably, Being able to draw well just isn't in my skill set (or more accurately, if I want to draw well I need a lot of time and good reference material, which I'm not going to do if I just make some quick scetches).

>Go find Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials
That's probably what I've been looking for, thanks for the suggestion.
I think I read it once, but I have almost no memories of it. I'll look for it again.
You mean because of shitposting?

Prophet (the 2012 version) had some funky alien designs.
