I need images, images of the fanciest impractical fantasy armor there is. Basically, the more overdressed and F A N C Y the person in armor is, the better.
Frills, zippers, belts, elaborate patterns are fine. Minimal skin exposure (so no bikini armor), no latex/bodysuit shit, maximum overdressed, final destination.

"The armor's ominous od overtakes its user's mind, suppressing their fear and perception of pain.[1] This allows for the transcendence of subconscious limitations placed on the human body, granting its wearer extraordinary gains in strength, endurance, and tenacity. It can temporarily repair several debilitating injuries in the heat of battle: reinforcing broken bones and forcibly reallocating dislocated joints, while piercing flesh with thin barbs and spikes in the process. Such invasive reparation can lead to its wearer's untimely death, however, piercing into and reconstructing their injuries until their last drop of blood.[4] Rather than actually healing its wearer, the armor heals itself when pierced by powerful thrust attacks.
In addition to the perilous nature of the armor, it can induce insanity, or "Berserker rage", by drawing out the wearer's most negative emotions, therefore dissolving the differentiation between friend and foe.[5] It can also cause chronic mental deterioration, providing a hotbed for its user's inner darkness to fester.[6] Upon inducing Berserker rage, the armor's helm takes on the appearance of its wearer's inner beast. In Guts' case, the helmet and bevor are shaped like the Beast of Darkness' head and can function as a mouth, capable of biting enemies. When the armor is active, the helm's eye sockets glow red and Guts' face is completely obstructed; if in control of his sanity, however, the swordsman's face is partially visible and the helm's eye sockets stop emitting their red glow." taken from the Berserk wiki

>no latex/bodysuit shit
God, does it hurt having such terrible taste?

In short
- makes you REALLY good at killing stuff
- keeps you in fighting condition, it doesn't heal you, it just keeps you fighting.
- literally makes you less human while using it uncontrolled
- makes it really easy to lose control and go into a battle frenzy (hence the name)

More anime characters.
Looks like a Record of Lodoss War character.

What's wrong with modern fantasy anime?
Jacob Bell
I haven't said anything about those.
But since you bring it up: >shrunken budget, which causes other problems obviously >bad cg >little variance in style >overabundance of isekai >reflexive inclusion of videogame mechanics and worlds >useless main characters (shared with many other subgenres) >hands build in win buttons to protagonists >cinematography sucks frequently (I totally want to see mainly partial face closeups, so half the screen area is featureless skin tone. not only fantasy) >fantasy worlds lack traits to set them apart (admittedly more a problem for western audiences than eastern)
Isaac Morgan
What's wrong with modern Isekai?
John Sanchez
That one is particular sucks complete ass, but there have been a few good isekai stories in the last couple years. There has been way too much of it lately though.
Jackson Green
Basically what I wrote since it is mainly isekai getting made, japanese otaku seem to really bite that triple helping of self insert potential.
List of problems goes on.
>cares little about setup of antagonists, antagonists feel like low effort mooks even if named >too many side characters that try to fill out archetypes, then not enough time spent to validate the inclusion >lazy design even on frequently used backgrounds that have to be done only once, come on, it's one frame >obnoxious sun glares >unimaginative magic effects, doesn't feel lively and kinetic
Adrian Reed
Has there really been good isekai lately?

Log Horizon, Grimgar, and Konosuba come to mind. I liked Re:Zero, though I can see why some people don't

I wouldn't bother. Whatever reply your going to get here it isn't going to be about armor or quality anime discussion
Eli Smith
The best recent-ish I have seen was Grimgar, which was meh. Nice low power level but the narrative thinks it has much more emotional impact than it really has.
Konosuba was some nice simple fun, but second season is already getting weaker. It is very much comedy fastfood, nothing you can immerse in.
Re:zero had a good premise but it dies with the protagonist who doesn't act like a human and is to dense to make an effort to learn about his condition in even the most trivial ways. And the villains are immensely underwhelming.
Another point
>fails at drawing set pieces, dimensions of furniture and vehicles will often be of and change between scenes and shots. >little interaction with surrounding objects for that matter, empty stages.
Ayden Roberts
It is clearly getting late.
Jeremiah Baker
>love to include big kaiju summons, but they don't do shit most often >character power is always unrelated to how they look and often even their backgrounds and the roles they are supposed to represent >main character ends up feeling like a pokemon trainer because he is useless and has to rely on his harem of frail looking waifus to fight for him
Brody Gray
>obsession with typical japanese food that somehow exists in fantasyland and is the hottest shit ever, despite it being a mundane thing in real life and the viewer having seen this again and again in most anime genres. Seriously what is up with that? I know spending on food is high in japan and there is a sophisticated eating culture but it is just some riceballs.
I keep thinking of these now that I'm started.
Brayden Perez
