Has you runners ever recorded their adventures for future reference or just uploading it to the matrix for entertainment?

>Has you runners ever recorded their adventures for future reference or just uploading it to the matrix for entertainment?
>uploading evidence of a crime for public display

Yeah, no.

Only amongst the pinkest of Mohawks does shit like that happen.

>'Hot troll ladies looking for a good time in your area!'

Trying to come up with some good runs for a possible campaign in the future. What are some fun/memorable runs you've played/heard of chummer?

Guy I knew played a very professional character, but he was essentially a Jack the ripper in his free time.

Except he uploaded the full sensory video feed of his killings.

I wanna hijack this question, I'm absolutely horrible at making runs with a red line between them. How do I make more than just one shot runs?

How 'open' is information attached to a national SIN? Do foreign nations/megacorps have access, or just the governmental institutions of the issuing nation?

From reading what little is mentioned in 5e it seems that besides national security forces (cops, etc) it's protected. Unless the nation sells that data. Hence the problem.

...

I'm guessing that unless the corp already has an agreement with said nation or vice versa they're gonna have to get involved with some paperwork to request that information.

But I'm guessing a lot of these agreements exist between several corps/nations to make things easier to share basic information.

Do you guys think that a media-focused corp like Horizon would run something like Infowars as one of their subsidiaries?

An Alex Jones-like kook to get ratings with insane conspiracy theories that touch upon a nugget of truth once in a while? Or would that shit be limited to the weirder pirate stations?

I mean, as long as it is marketable, can form opinions, distract and brainwash Horizon would be all over that stuff, right?

Definitely. It'd be a convenient way for them to leak things to shape public opinion that they don't want to 'officially' associate with.

1) I wanna fuck/marry Hestaby and be her personal Drake boytoy
2) WHY IS THE SAAB GLADIUS SO OP HOLY SHIT

Use recurring bad guys. Those ganger’s they roughed up a month ago have gotten back on their feet and their out for blood.

Multi-level plots. Someone's out to get your Fixer and you need to figure out who's behind it.

Sometimes legwork can be its own run. You need to kidnap a corporate exec who's coming into town, but before he gets here you need to break into the local office and copy the itinerary.

Our mage spends her free time writing down her 'life story' with our runs and all our misdeeds in it. But our group isn't terribly worried, thankfully shes a real chuuni who writes it all down in a paper 'tome' in flowery script. When our streetsam discovered what it was our GM had them roll a intuition check to decipher the damn thing.

Top 3 and bottom 3 JackPointers, name em!

>top 3 Jackpointers
You're kidding right?

We're playing mercenaries in Africa so there's not too much in the way of 'law' to piss off for me streaming my sort-of-crimes. My tank livestreams every mission and takes viewer requests from the chat while he's at it.

I don't know much but
>devgrrrl
Absolute bottom

Anybody have a pic of dwarf in a suit, preferably in sunglasses?

>How do I make more than just one shot runs?
You mean, "A bunch of interconnected runs"? Use the Apocalypse World rules for Fronts and Threats (maybe The Sprawl does it better for this, haven't read the full book), and plan out what a group would want and how they would go about taking it from someone else, and what that other party's response would be.

Yes, Street Shamans are a thing. Pick an urban totem like Rat, Dog, or Raccoon, get into Forbidden Arcana where they brought back the rules for talking to spirits of the land because sometimes nice things do happen to Shadowrun fans, and off you go.

...

Orange Queen, Red, and Man-of-Many-Names are all good imho.

Also I'd put Clockwork just above /dev/grrl but still absolute trash tier. They sure did put a shitload of effort into making him utterly impossible to like.

Red is literally the only new Jackpointer in 5e that's even remotely likeable.

Clockwork did nothing wrong though.

>liking Red
>disliking Clockwork

I mean other than want to murder a two year old because of who his mom is? I guess

>What is hereditary genetics

I liked Red because I feel like as far as infected go he's sorta interesting in comparison to Hanibelle.

The Mom is a techno, and so is the kid. It's not 'just because of who his mom is'.

Technomancers ain't even been around long enough for there to be literally any weight to that theory

I'd imagine Horizon has several, so they can compete with each other in pseudofeuds for greater viewership. One or two could even be rogue personalities, who try to be genuine conspiracy theory nuts instead of pretend ones working for Horizon.

Anyways, having Alex Jonesian personalities will let Horizon sling all sorts of shit at every other corp, from the Zurich Orbital supposedly holding daily blood magic rituals (hopefully false), to how mom and pop pizza shops are being destroyed by shadowrunners hired by Aztechnology to reduce competition (probably true at some point).

How? He's just a super-edgy trenchcoat protagonist who only drinks the blood of bad people, because he walked out a White Wolf fic.

The closest he got to interesting was the story in Forbidden Arcana where someone told him he's a pretentious tryhard.

>Evo subsidiaries produces animal fodder that makes your pets gay.
>Mitsuhama meds gives you awakaned autism.
>Renraku are building child prostitution colonies in orbit.

THE AZTLAN GOVERNMENT IS PUTTING CHEMICALS IN THE WATER

TO TURN THE FRICKIN NAGAS GAY

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't he the one to warn Slamm-0 of the hit on his son, no matter how much he personally hates technomancers?

I feel like Humanis probably has an Alex Jones analogue somewhere in their roster

>Awakened Autism

>Astral sight perceives the whole world as if it was minecraft

He was the one who informed him it was still active.
In an earlier book he was outed as one of the people pursuing the bounty.

Its a good car, but its also fucking expensive.
For a runner Car, i think there is almost nothing that beats the Mercury Cruiser in the Utility/Price Department.

14 Body, 11 Armor, 5 Seats, 4/3 Handling, 3 Speed, perfectly legal (-) and affordable (21.000 Nuyen).
Only downside is the Pilot being utter shit (1), but the rest is super good by itself and makes a great base to improve uppon.

>liking Red

Wow, thats some high level shittasting there.
Red is a horrible GaryStue self insert.
>preawakening spikechildren elf magician Vampire ghoul-friend with high self control on bloodsucking

besides, clockwork is one of the very few Runners written in a halfway believable way, despite the SJW-authors trying to paint him as Hitlergoblin

Also:
Kill all Jackpointers, with no exception.
They are all heavily retarded shitheads that are as far away from shadowrun as you could imagine.

I want shadowtalk by shadowrunners, not by some faggots who casually mention they own 7 figure Drone carriers, command several mercenary Outfits or wage wars on their own.

>They are all heavily retarded shitheads

Just a little bit too harsh there chummer. There are some alright Jackpointers. Problem is that it's the few that just pop up here an there to be actually informative or helpful, instead of the more regular users that are very opinionated and shitpost hard.

But it is a bit of an elitist club and honestly it's only logical that there exists a ton of derivatives that just smacktalk the Jackpointers constantly.

>There are some alright Jackpointers

you're welcome

I'm looking for a good place to run a Shadowrun game in where I can go full "pink Mohawk" and still have it make sense. In other words, a place in the Shadowrun world where there is almost complete anarchy or at least very little government or other law enforcement that keeps order.

The only place that comes to mind is Chicago back during the "Bug City" era when the quarantine and infestation was in full swing. Does that seem like a good place to run part of a Shadowrun campaign?

Does anyone else have any ideas where Runners can run without having to stick to the shadows as much? How about the Renraku Arcology when the AI locked it down and took over?

GeMiTo sprawl. Literally lawless sprawl whose only real authority presence are corps exploiting the area or gangs fighting for control.

Africa, Indochina, and in some degree the Chinese Coastal states. All varying degrees of anarchy.

Look up Lagos, there's some great lore in 4e's Feral Cities on it.

>Fastjack
Not anymore.

Chicago is a possibility. The SCIRE is a terrible choice because literally everyone inside was being hunted down and lobotomized by Deus (or secretly implanted with AI bits).

Otherwise the Carribean League (war between hougans makes for lots of cover). Go read Feral Cities for others.

Hey Guys, i'd like some input.

I'm building a hardboiled/50's style Private Eye. He got traumatized by some bug spirit shit, is now a dry alcoholic after several years of himself drinking to forget, thanks to some *ware. Still has some issues because of the shit he saw and didn't manage to prevent (friends dying) so he turned to god and self flaggelation.
Now walking the Shadows because he heard some rumors that sounded awfully like the shit he encountered back in the days and wants to get more infos.
/backstory

I still have a bit of Nuyen to burn (around 20k) and I'm unsure on what. I COULD simply get a car, but thats sorta boring. So, if you have any idea for some interesting *ware that would fit either the background or the mechanical slot (Face that isn't totally useless in combat), please give me some Input.
Note: INI-enhancements are NOT wanted/needed, I'll be using Drugs for this.

I think Many-Names is alright and Haze is p accurate for a street level runner.

>Fastjack

annoying plot-twat

Can't even remember the rest of them, are those even 5e *Pointers?

Berlin Fluxstate, when it still existed (50s).
Dragonfall is set there.

Are there any good non-animal street shaman totems? I've heard of hearth, neighborhood, and road spirits, but I don't know much about them. Any other specifically urban, non-animal spirits?

Also, are totems(/mentor spirits(?)) just really powerful regular spirits? If so what's the power threshold on that? Can I have a crazy weak dumpster spirit as my totem (not that I'd want to, just for the hypotheticalism.)

Is there a difference between an indivudual dumpster spirit and The Great Dumpster Spirit, King of All Dumpsters? (If dumpster spirits are not a thing or are toxic spirits, please pretend theh are for the sake of this dumb question.)

>mom and pop pizza shops are being destroyed by shadowrunners hired by Aztechnology to reduce competition

Fuck it, I'm giving my runners this job now.

4e, but I'm guessing 5e splatbooks mostly just take up the common shitposters.

Remember how they brought back Laughing Man for Street Grimoire just for Elijah's snowflake spirit quest episode?

5es Pointers can hardly be called Shadowrunners anymore.
Way to high level.

5e actively shits on 'unknown' Shadowrunners. It's like Jackpoint has developed a stale elitist 'community' of cancerous regulars who don't even run anymore. Sorta like a stale elitist community of cancerous regulars that don't even play rpgs anymore...

FA has the list of current spirits of the land and the rules for interacting with them.

Totems are the same thing as mentor spirits, just by a name that shamans are more likely to use. They are different from regular spirits in that they don't follow traditional spirit rules like needing to be summoned, not having to deal with restrictions like mana barriers, etc. There's a reason that they used to be considered (by hermetics) mental constructs of shamans to help them understand and shape their magic, instead of independent entities.

While many of the Mentor Spirits are traditionally portrayed as animals, you are encouraged to take one and interpret it differently according to tradition (so Dog also represents Loyalty, Adversary is also Anarchy, Dragonslayer is broadly interpreted as Heroism and Adventure). Pick whatever general theme you want and fluff accordingly.

You need make the distinction between urban free spirits and Mentor Spirits

Because of the great variety of ways mentor spirits can manifest or be interpreted, most mentors can be seen in the urban sprawls. Wise Warrior and Sun examples of non animal mentors, but any mentor Archetype can be reinterpreted/manifest as a non-animal.

Mentors don't follow the regular rules for spirits, so they could be Platonic Ideals or just transcendently powerful spirits. Or something else entirely.

This is why you never let your players even get close to jackpoint. Because it's a bunch of elitist jack-offs. You give them a more open, less personal but more rewarding alternative. It's not like there's only one Shadow VPN in the world.

>The third mission goes haywire because it turns out all the delivery drivers that night are a different team of shadowrunners that Chamber of Commerce hired to maintain business diversity in the city.
>Who wouldve guessed that seven cyber-trolls aren't your normal kind of delivery drivers?

or in LA

>blur out faces, voices, distinctive styles, and anything else that could identify you

>not recording your vigilante hooding against Alamos 2K where your cybered up Giant street Sam makes a known grand wizard-equivalent piss himself and offer sexual favors for his life, humiliating him and dealing his chapter a huge blow

>not live streaming the the grand wizard on his knees with the giant's 2 foot cyber cock in his throat
>not zooming in on his face as he thrashes and chokes to death
>not having the giant blow a liter of cum over the grand wizard's disheveled corpse

Are you even trying omae?

No, we weren't trying.
We were specifically trying not to go magical realm.

Not sure if anyone cares about Matrix in 4e anymore, as I'm sure most people have just accepted it or are playing 5th and trying to forget it, but here's what I'm thinking of doing for my next game;

Use the optional rule of setting programs as the Limit and using Logic + Skill.
Standard off the shelf Commlinks can't run Hacking Programs.
Add "Decks" as commlinks with Hacking capabilities (lets say double cost and high restriction for the sake of argument.)
Agents are specialized. They are programmed for specific purposes (one agent one program, alternatively option for duo agents for example encrypt/decrypt.)
Increased cost and restriction for Hacking programs.

Thoughts? Feedback? Suggestion? I'm also planning to use Grid/Noise from 5e but that's not really relevant to the topic of improving Matrix in 4th, just flavor.

I dont play 5e though

>not uploading trideo footage of your team busting up a sex trafficking ring in a night club whilst Damien Knight is visible patronizing the bar in the background
Fuck Ares.

It sounds like that's exactly what was going on from your description.

Yekka, when you hit the thread a lot of adept powers aren't showing as discountable with the magician's way, despite the fact it should allow everything but improved reflexes.

Why is Ares regarded as one of the 'better' corps when they show less regard for human life and collateral damage than even Aztech?

Helping contain Chicago, and good PR.

You forget, as far as most wageslaves are concerned, Azzies look pretty good too.

Because 'Murica. Just wait for the bug plot to come to a head.

I guess because they're kind of upfront about it, their primary business is arms manufacturing and security and paramilitary services, so of course they're violent, it's in the job description. Aztechnology gets a bad wrap for the same shit because they're the other - most of Shadowrun is written from a North American perspective, and Aztechnology are South American and encroaching on the former US of A. Basically Ares may be assholes, but they're our assholes.

They make good guns, which I guess is pretty important to a Shadowrunner?

Didn't the Azzies have the whole blood magic thing going on?

Also Traceless walk doesn't show up for the Beast's way, which it should, unless it was dropped in errata and I didn't notice but I didn't think it had.

>we were specifically trying not to go magical realm

That's where you fucked up user.

I don't want to fuck anything! I just want to play a game with my friends without it getting weird for ONE GODDAMN TIME!

Even in 2070, that's probably still not general knowledge, though by now I figure it should be pretty well known in the shadows. When you're trying to summon armies of the demonic apocalypse, you tend to keep that under wraps.

Halp plox

How much money could you make selling TrollxRacist snuff rape porn?

How do you guys hood?

Just relax and let the hooks do their work.

Half arm for a hidden gun/shock hand. Not a realistic one, but a real gritty obvious one.

I also notice that you lack a taser. Any will do, just have something in case you don't want to shoot to kill.

>our GM had a Troll blackmail our gnome decker into having sex with him
>the player was fine with this
Kill me, I just wanted to be a Street Racer punk

Much money.

But I'd rather go for the legal stuff, set up a studio and produce dwarves on female troll gangbangs. You can bet there's money in those trids.

Urgh. Oh right, I forgot about that bullshit. Okay, easy fix.
>Beast's Way lets you discount improved reflexes
Huh. Didn't notice that before either.

Taser sounds like a good idea.

Half Arm seems horribly inefficient with the Muscle replacement already there, considering i would have to leave it at STR/Agi 3 to afford a gun in it.

Appreciate the Input though.

Cyber Implanted weapons have essence costs, so you don't actually need the arm to take one.

Beast's way's optional power was removed in the errata, so it can't discount Improved Reflexes anymore. But as I said in it should do traceless walk and doesn't

Why not make BTLs of 'skullfucking human supremacists to death'? Sell it in the Ork Underground and make billions.

I forgot how extremely hard 5th edition screwed over the Cyberware prices.

Because a surprising number of metahumans aren't actually into murder and necrophilia.

>Putting it directly into the arm

That might actually be a fun idea.

Whats the current consensu on the needed skill though, i remember some debates after Chrome Flesh came out.
Normal gun skill or exotic weapon for the Cybergun?

Its refreshing to have a fuckton of essence to waste if you don't need to spend it on INI Boosters.
Kamikaze, fuck yeah

All orks love snuff their brains are just more violent it's genetics

Is using illusion spells like (Trid) Phantasm in vehicular combat to make someone swerve and wreck something that works within the rules, or is there anything that explicitly forbids it?

>And then John was the racists

Anyone?

Usually, you need line of sight to the people you're casting the spell on. Don't remember how it works for phantasm.

That's why I asked about Trid Phantasm too. Phantasm is a mental spell and only affects a given target, Trid Phantasm is physical and creates a hologram at a given spot.

Yeah, I pulled out my book. I'd rule you can totally conjure up some sort of road danger that somebody would need to avoid. However, they'd notice if your illusion appeared out of thin air or something. Illusions tend to fail if somebody is watching you.
