You are retarded in two ways.

My reasons depend on the CYOA. For the ones with supernatural powers, I generally want to maximize my growth. Plus there's usually a ton of stuff to do in those settings and I want the option of sticking around forever to tackle it all.

For the CYOAs where you just get to tweak your current life, it's a little more complicated. I'm almost 30 and want to be able to properly enjoy all my changes. What I really want is de-aging + an opportunity to make a new life using the advantages I've selected. Many CYOAs don't offer that option, however, so immortality is the next best thing for getting mileage out of my choices.

And then there's always the possibility that I really, really enjoy the new me in any given CYOA, to the point that I'd want to live that life forever. As such, it feels short-sighted to not plan for that contingency by allowing myself the chance to extend that enjoyment indefinitely. Would you rather have 50 years of fun or 50000 years of fun?

Conquest is nice. I blame Supernatty for kicking bestboy out and replacing him with diseases and rats.

Multiple reasons, though the biggest would be: I don't want to suffer the effects of aging and--especially if the CYOA takes place in a more exciting world/universe--dying due to old age sounds incredibly boring.

As for Emissary "lore": Zanzabar is well-versed in warfare, and has corruptive traps. He's a perfect fit for guerrillas. The Legend is a veritable machine, and so perfect for the "hammer" of the army. And Grace gives the magical support, which is probably for the best given her placement right on top of a dragon.
Christoph will research new technologies and battle-magic for use in our wars -- he'll also patch up the wounded and dead. I need Damien's advice, so I need to give him some role; diplomat seems to suit him well. Owl Girl is my waifu. Alain and Marie...they are victims of war, just like all of us.

Probably because the concept is so popular in other cyoas that allowing the player to genderswap is pretty much the norm at this point. Consider the wisdom that comes with age. What thinking, rational being would fail to covet the boundless wisdom of boundless age?
