The only reason I can think of is that people sell off their alts to buy BTC.
That doesn't even make sense considering you can't buy alts with fiat. Your alts should be paired with whatever you traded for them (BTC, ETH, LTC, etc) and that's where the price comes from.

Why are you guys talking as if alts can only be bought with BTC? I can name two exchanges with alternatives. ETH can be used to buy alts on Binance and LTC can be used on Cryptopia. Not everything is measured in BTC.
