Maybe try googling "Historical fiction TV/movies" since that's clearly what you want.
Not Vikings
Rome is a really good series. I still get feels when I see Cicero and other character die.
Brother Caedfael is a good series. It's a mystery series though, just set in that timeframe.
Flesh+Blood is damn good
HE REFUSES TO MEME ME!
Sorry for wasting a thread. I trust board's tastes.
That is a terrible idea. If you don't understand why this is a terrible idea, there's no point in you posting here; you can just go straight back to google and read top 10 lists instead.
>tfw no series on Edward I
Any of Shakespeare's historical and tragic plays are worth watching, there should be plenty on film. Find some with actors you like or that just look good.
Braveheart is dogshit.
On the subject of ancient Rome, I, Claudius is also definitely worth a watch.
The last kingdom
...
The recent series of 4 Shakespeare plays called "The Hollow Crown" was fantastic.
"I, Claudius" is great but it plays very fast and loose with canon. "Rome" does a better job overall.
But if you haven't seen "The Lion in Winter" you really should go watch it. It's a political RPG session if ever there was one.
Black Sails is god level Age of Sail badassery
>Rome does a better job overall.
>implying Rome doesn't also play loosely with canon by having their oc donut steels be present at or the cause of every major historical event
It's plebby lowest common denominator trash like GoT tbqh.
>>Rome does a better job overall.
Better is one of those comparison world.
Being stabbed in the eye is better than being stabbed in the eye and also in the dick.
The 13th Warrior did a pretty good job, and even if it's aged over time the atmosphere in the first 50 minutes is unmatched
>The Lion In Winter
My wiskered thing of norman descent. I came here to suggest this.
People have already suggested it, but I enjoy most shakespear made-for tv stuff. Throne of Blood by Kurosawa is a good mcbeth if you're into that.
This is also a good time. Insane, but enjoyable.

The best part is that, much like Coriolanus, you can semi-quote it at players and they will think you're extra clever.

Although, if you're watching this version, get subtitles. It's badly audio balanced.
A friend of mine and I try and use any excuse we can to 'I know you know...' stuff when we're drinking. Its full of good stuff.
That version of coriolanus looks amazing. Thanks, I'll check that out.
depends, how historically accurate do you want it?
my sworn blood brother
Warning, my definition of "Veeky Forums-related" is as loose as the Betty Cow's vagina. This goes from "quite accurate portrayal about the Battle of Cannae" to "80s technofantasy".
