Let's Create A Setting Veeky Forums

>Vampires are anomalies created by TIME in order to destabilize the time streams of various realities.

This is a naturally-occurring reaction in the universe once artificial time-traveling becomes too widespread, because it usually results in the people creating the machines being culled by outbreaks of vampires who only use their time machines long enough to eat all the people.

>all vampires drain *something* from *something*
>only one kind drains blood

TIME of course being the global triumvirate attempting to unite the multiverse under their tyrannical empire. Their true identities are unknown but the multiversal resistance has dubbed them Those Idiots Messing with Eternity

>What Vampires drain from their victims varies. Sometimes it's Hope, other times its Joy, in other Pain, and yet more feed off of a variety of things.
>All desire the destruction of their respective time-streams however.

>because of the nature of a multiverse vampire hunters come in all shapes and sizes
>some are humans while others are more esoteric things like infinite holes that crawl along surfaces or floating 4-d triangles
>some are even vampires themselves that have found self awareness

...

>A vampire that gains self-awareness is usually unmade by TIME so that their essence may be re-purposed at a later date, their essence broken down and consumed.

Piercing a vampire's heart is the only way to kill the vampire for good, all other methods only temporarily destroy the vampire, allowing TIME to reform them in a different universe or period. When a vampire's heart is pierced, all of time freezes for everyone except the vampire hunter, and TIME itself, allowing a precious few moments for the hunter to gain some of TIME's knowledge before the world returns to normal.

>Piercing a vampire's heart is easier said than done however, as each vampire is different and their heart is never located in any one part of their body. Some vampires can even move their heart to different points of their being at random.

This coupled with the fact that vampires come in all shapes and sizes results in a certain school of vampire hunters losing interest in hunting the heart, and just destroying the vampire however they can. Sure, it will result in someone else needing to deal with them, but out of sight, out of mind...right?

>This same view is the reason why some realities have to deal with multiple vampires at the same time, most of them not serving the assault.

in fact, even the humanoid ones barely look human
>you're more likely to meet a vampire in the shape of a large piece of paper then anything recognizably living

>Vampires take on a variety of shapes, ranging from city-sized building blocks, to mathematical formulae, to whole planetary ecosystems, to even the very laws of physics themselves. Vampires never confine themselves to any one shape.

why call it a vampire even

Because they feed off of one specific *thing*, and they gain some vague form of 'sustenance' from that thing. I wouldn'the be surprised if certain forms of light can burn them away too.

>Supposedly the name 'TIME' is a false one conceived by mortal beings across the multiverse to describe something they can never truly comprehend.
>The oldest sources refer to it as "Turemiesresquiasalmorquintessenceanathemissiance Islluminiarencetesancemorquiantennen MortemierderatellasquerrteryionallismoremparturientI'm El'Odim.

Bump.

there is one kind of vampire that feeds on sexual energy, generally referred to as a succubus
in a twist of cruel irony however, it has a special quality that causes it's skin to take on textures and looks that are designed to disgust anyone looking at it by incredible amounts. no matter how perverted somebody may be, it will make them recoil.

>Succubi generally take on a vaguely humanoid shape, usually including an assortment of various limbs and organs, seemingly for no other reason than to disturb their victims.

>some vampires are actually beneficial to their environments or the people they decide to target, sucking up misfortune, illness, or other things
>however, by the virtue of being vampires, they must be hunted down and eliminated anyway
>this is incredibly stressful for some hunters, as many feel the weight of killing a vampire that's keeping a little girl alive or stopping a town from being swallowed by the sea on their heart

>Indeed, quite a few hunters lose their minds, and begin to tear about their time-streams in their delirium after killing certain vampires that had been beneficial to their targeted realities.
>Some theorize that this is some sort of grandiose plot on TIME's part.

>TIME however, has no power over SPACE. Vampires that tamper with SPACE are removed from the power and influence of TIME, and are set adrift through the universe.

>Frogs see the truth beyond TIME and SPACE, yet are unable to share their knowledge

>Vampire'so who have been forcibly severed from TIME by SPACE are little more then hollow husks with no guiding will to control or direct them.

>such vampires act like little more then animals
>however, if left to sit for long enough and with enough of their food source to sustain them, they begin to learn
>they become deeply intelligent and have a wit beyond most mortal creatures
>their motivations rarely go beyond simply staying alive, but a vampire with ambition can be a dangerous force

>The dark powers of TIME are opposed by many across the myriad realities, most notably the vampire hunters, but others exist.
>It is said that there is an organization, or perhaps a group of elemental beings that stand in opposition against TIME and its puppets.

>this organization's main purpose s to search for and find SPACE
>it is said that SPACE will deal a finishing blow against TIME should it be found
>some splinter sects believe that the organization itself is SPACE, although this is a hotly debated topic

>Many members of the organization are quite alien when compared to other beings in the multiverse, hardly expressing themselves or showing true emotions on their assignments.
>This makes them a bit harder to connect with than most others.

>TIME and SPACE, though opposed, are actually meant to be united as part of a grand unified plan by a higher force.
>But, like the demiurges that they are, they are unaware of their own true nature and their role in the cosmos, and so contend against eachcother for their own inscrutable claim over cosmos

>The select few beings who know of theach truth behind this cosmic clash theorize that the higher force is actually playing an even more incomprehensible game against an equal, yet opposite force.
>Who the other 'player' is however, they cannot tell.

Bump.

>Where TIME starts to leak into reality, horrific Breaches appear.
>Breaches are hole within the physical realm where TIME and it's vampiric forces are able to flow into reality unhindered. If left unchecked, Breaches are capable of unmasking entire universes wholesale.

Last Bump before sleep.

Time is infected
Orcs exist. Orcs are immune to vampires. Orcs dont fight the vampire menace

>Orcs are used by TIME as a sort of army

how do hunters and the like travel between timestreams?

>Hunters traverse the various time-streams through the use of 'Doorways', paths through the churning flow of the myriad time-streams that allow them to bridge a way to other realities.
>It is completely unknown however as to how the Elements make their way through the time-streams.

Bump.

One of the more common weapons used to fight off vampires (but not necessarily kill them outright) is the "Flashlight," which emits a wave of high-energy radiation.
It's thought that they were originally invented by SPACE, but no one actually remembers anymore

>Many other weapons have been developed to fight against vampires, some even using the Flashlight as a basis.
>Some of these weapons defy the very laws of reality themselves and can be highly dangerous to wield in battle.

...

...

...

A rather quiet Bump.

...

Like vampires, some orcs also become aware of their situation, and defect from TIME.
Similarly, while TIME unmakes most self-aware orcs, a rare few manage to escape this fate, and attempt to live normal lives in the universe they've been dumped in.

>Many beings within the numerous universes have a loathing of orcs, even if they don'the know their true nature, considering the entire species to just be made out of mindless barbaric savages.
>Some have even gone so far as to hunt and kill Orcs merely for existing, seeing them as beasts and monsters.

Bumpero

>Come to me children. I have such wonders to show to you.

One of such 'free vampire' is the one known as Dracul. He is rumored to have hidden in a region of space-time that is somehow resists TIME and SPACE's influence to such a degree that in that world, TIME and SPACE are but universal rules of physics.

>Nobody knows what Dracula schemes in that corner of reality where TIME and SPACE are distant in their clash, but most assume it to be something diabolical.
