ITT Red flags when to leave a game

>Today we will be playing a campaign based off of (insert generic anime here)

What if it's a non-generic anime?

Really depends on the anime, i mean if it doesn't sound shitty then MAYBE i'd give it a try

Red flags when to leave a thread:

>OP posted it

Fuck you Dinozaur if you don't wanna play just tell it to my face don't go posting fucking shitty ass threads on your gay ass board. for faggots.

Trigun would be fun

>association with Veeky Forums, 9gag, reddit, TVTropes, or memes in general

What is with all the FUCKING ITT threads today god damn.

>"I've always wanted to play that system!"
>"No, I've never read the books."
>"No, I don't own the books."
>"Yes, I do own the books."
>"No, I've never read the books I own."
>"You're the GM, you should know the rules for my character's skillset."

Trigun is a shitty meme anime and is very much generic brand.

I would take this over "I want to play a character based on [anime] in your non-anime world" anyday

>literally putting together a setting loosely based off naruto but with ninjas being pawns in a proxy war

o-oh okay then

Fucking this

>"Alright guys, what kind of characters are you
>"I'm a dwarf cleric who preaches good will and the lord!"
>"Im a half-elf fighter trying to make it out in the world"
>"I am a high class ninja from the hosaki clan, trained in the art of killing and stealth, and deep down i have the soul of a lost one, one of the many magical beasts from my village"

I fucking hate this shit, i also hate it when they name shit or act in a anime way

Nah, nah. Everyone has to run a good Naruto Campaign at least once. It's the "Actually using the Meet in a Tavern Trope and playing in a nice generic fantasy world is really fun" of Anime TRPG tropes. Veeky Forums has just become so used to all these tropes that they're desensitized to them. Playing them for the first time and actually seeing if they work for your group is essential to your tabletop experience.

>I've made better rules for armor
>In this game everyone is going to be a kobold/gnoll
For whatever reason some people think the stuff they watched on toonami/adult swim when they were 15 is a cut above all other anime despite not really watching much else. It's better to just ignore them

>joining random games without knowing what the setting will be and who you're playing with
>leaving a session you're planing to play with your friends just because you don't like the setting
You're an autistic fuckhead if either of these apply to you, OP.

"Generic anime" doesn't mean anything beyond "chinese cartoon I don't particularly care for."

A REAL red flag is
>Today we will be playing a campaign based off of [anime that just started/had a popularity surge].

Man, I would take generic anime adventures ANY day of the week over "hurf durf i just saw a show and must now force it into tabletop format despite not knowing what makes the show good or how to adapt anything at all for RPGs." It will always be rushed, always be poorly thought out, and always be clunky as fuck because shitheads that pull this kneejerk reaction stuff will never take the time to step back and consider if what makes for good television makes for good gaming or how to make the medium transfer effectively.

On that note, for fuck's sake guys, ease off of Made in Abyss. I like the manga, but I've seen three or four threads on it in two days. Just shut the fuck up about it for a few days and actually put some effort into translating it from mango to tabletop it instead of spamming "Can YOUR party defeat Bonedrew?!?!" bullshit.

Some show being new and popular isn't really any more valid a reason to dislike it than something being "generic anime". If the real problem is that a GM just doesn't understand what makes it work in the first place then the GM is the problem

>we

Its post apotlicic western with SciFi elements and steam punk trains

>today we will launch a campaign based around marching to Moscow

Aren't steam punk trains just normal trains?

Thats...that's how red flags work. It's a warning that the GM/group/whatever is going to be shit.

>Hey guys, if your car's "check engine" light is on, you may have something to worry about, so get that shit checked out.
>"There's nothing wrong with the light being on. It's just light, what kind of person gets worried about an LED being lit? You only need to worry about your engine if there's something wrong with it. Stop stigmatizing 'check engine' lights."

Trigun is one of the quintessential examples of anime with viable settings and cool side characters but stupid protagonists. Fuck, what I wouldn't give for something with Trigun's setting and not told from the perspective of a half-plant humanoid super-weapon with le wacky quirks.

>This will be a political intrigue game like Game of Thrones, but with strong social justice themes.
>And we'll be using the Pathfinder system.

>Today we are playing DnD
I jump out of the window right away

>wuz

>We're going to be playing a world building game in Pathfinder with my homebrew kingdom management rules that I hashed out yesterday

This happened to me. It was terrible.

Was it big enough for a story?

Cause i wanna hear how it went user

>player specifically uses the world "loli" to describe his character
>insists that him being a "lolicon" is not a sexual thing

It really isn't. Lolicon are children lovers. In anime, games, and visual novels, they are mostly joke characters.

It is tho.

Naw man, they never touch a children in the animes and games and stuff. Like, you are not a rapist until you rape someone, same with that stuff, he is just a lolicon, not yet a pedo

"loli" just means he wants to play a qt anime girl. I've never been one of these guys but loli and lolicon refer to different things. a loli is a type of character, lolicon is the name of the hentai genre. If he refers to his character as "a lolicon" then he's either a retarded pedo or a retard.

P sure anyone that wants to play a sexualized little girl is a retarded pedophile.

You pedophile apologist.

Not denying the dude is a weirdo, I'm arguing over the definition. In japan is used as a joke.

>My character is/looks like 12 years old
No, no, no.

You said it much better then I did. A dieing world that's kept alive by some powerplant things. Fantastic

It doesn't really matter if you say loli or lolicon, the fact is you're using a term from a book about a half insane man kidnapping and fucking a 12 year old.

If you want to play as a little girl just say "little girl".

a 12 year old is hardly a child anyway, its 365 days from becoming a teenager, which is legal to fuck in most muslims countries.

Just because some muslim countries might allow it doesn't make it in anyway good for development at that age.

Besides, fucking a child doesn't even begin to describe all the misdeeds of Humbert. I honestly still don't understand why people use the term loli in the first place. The book is less about the pornographic aspect and more about how he fucks over Dolores's life.

loli is a cute word and people like cute things I guess? I dunno, I'm not a weeb

>game has multiple races
>"only humans"

That's retarded, but probably right. I just hope the irony isn't lost on people.

Don't be edgy

You don't understand how badly I'm withholding my /pol/ spurge attack on you right now

>we're playing GURPS
>No, trust me, you'll love it!

They're not real.

Using anime in your TRPG is never recommended and definitely not everyone should run at least one.

Everyone should definitely run a D&D campaign at least once, because of the history associated with it, and it's a good introduction to the RPG genre though.

People who complain about anime don't watch anime.

...

t. gongard

I have no problem with what people fap to. It just bothers me when people use that term without recognizing the context behind it.
