I believe themes are only good for allowing for limited, but normally impossible builds like Magnus's stuff.

Building the list toward a certain motif should come with its own reward and detriments and doesn't need theme bonuses and restriction to dictate that.

Cryx's Infernal Machines theme list isn't so bad. We have so many different Types of thrall, you don't have to just spam one unit over and over to get your free solos, and our 'Jacks are cheap enough that you can usually cram in a nice variety.

I sort of expected a lot more fireworks over Skorne getting Deadeye.

Most people don't want to play the gunline stuff in skorne. I know I haven't bought into winds of death just because I don't want to play it, I realize it's strong. I'm wondering how good jalaam will be at delivering praetorians whenever that theme comes out. I think he'll be pretty good

Deadeye has the ability to be super strong, yes.

But that caster does a lot of extremely good things.

Warpath is incredible for most Skorne warbeasts. His feat and AoD lets him deliver all sorts of infantry, including Cataphracts. Hell, Acuraii love Deadeye. Immortals with UA are the only Skorne unit that can naturally gain Concealment, so he can deliver those immortals like no one's business. Deadeye works wonders for the various spray beasts.

Sure, he plays a mean ass gunline, but it's hardly the only thing he does.

I know my faction had some busted toys in MKII, but they really did limit the scope of the game to what could deal with them, and anything that didn't reach their level was always passed by.

Maybe I'm not the guy in the post chain with you. I just commented about how I was happy with the state of Skorne in Mk2 and how PP basically ruined everything.

Hey, dumb question, but i was reading the khador command book & noticed a lack of winter guard. Is the book like a WIP or sample, or are winter guard no longer a thing?

Sample. It's complicated, but point being that Winter Gaurd will later get massive releases, and will get extensive history and development in the NQ Prime...Eventually.

At the moment, the approaching releases refer to Man O wars.

it's the base rules, actually. The games are made using the same engine, but their resources are inverted - where warcasters HAND OUT their resource, (whatever hordes equivalent is) pull theirs off their beasts at the start of a turn

They haven't? The only real major changes that weren't planned ahead of time was the removal of volunteers and moving books into NQ.

What store stocks thousands of dollars of faction cards? That doesn't happen and unless you're an idiot you knew those cards wouldn't be used forever. Cards were going out of style last edition and moving to digital along with the rules being free.

The reason they printed cards at all was so you could play with the toy solders you live to bitch about on day one

Actually PP has said that at start that faction decks would be updated with errata. They pulled the rug under the retailers.

GW indexes were from the start, a stop gap measure considering that the new edition was ridiculously different from their previous editions until the proper codex releases were done. Only mild gripe is that marine players only used their index book for a month, which isn't even all that true since indexes still contain Blood Angels, Grey Knights, and Legion of the Damned stuff.

PP is basically 6/7th ed 40k era GW right now.

Honestly I think everything they've done since hiring Pagani had actually been... As good as I've ever seen a tabletop company do.

As far as I can tell they haven't screwed up much since he was brought on board... The really bad stuff -- Mk3 release snafus, Una2, Caine3 -- were decisions made before he was brought on.

I really can't fault anything they've done since CID started.

Because other factions aren't Trollbloods and don't have regeneration.
Also, Trolls can't regenerate if you take out the spirit column (needs to be forced to do it)

Still requires the force to regenerate (and hence doesn't work if spirit is out), and even if sprit is out, the caster has to spend Fury and it invokes an order of activation requirement.

Yeah, it's not as bad as repairing jacks, but beasts cost more for the same stats, so it mostly evens out.

I think it may have been Mind and Body, but next time I'll check before he heals.
And now I might actually grab some Ghost Snipers and a box of Ryssovass Defenders for that targeted damage if my LGS keeps picking up Troll players, since I keep getting cucked by Regen and good Tough rolls.
