>Question:
What is the appeal of Werewolf the Apocalypse or Forsaken? The werewolves of both are so far from those of either folk lore or pop culture, I don't get the draw. Enlighten me please, I'm not looking to argue, I want to know more.

So why the hell does anyone, ever, use any Sphere other an Entropy?

What's a sphere? What's entropy?

It's more fun to set someone on fire with actual fire then via bad luck.

>What's a sphere?
Discount Arcanum.
>What's entropy?
Discount Death.

Fair enough, but I'd argue that being able to bad luck a table into existence is better.

I will say those, one of my favorite cMage character was my Ent+Time focused Iteration X battle waifu.

What's a good way to get/make maps for small cities/large towns? I'm getting ready to run a game where two large vampire families are going to be the only known vampires in town and I want to be ready if one of the players asks for a map.

>What's a good way to get/make maps for small cities/large towns?
1. Get a piece of paper (or open paint if the game is online).
2. Think about the area your game is set in.
3. Draw shapes according to what you thought about.
4. Label shapes.

Seconding the OP question too

Reminder that Werewolves don't matter and never did.

Gaia is dead. Get over it.

>What is the appeal of Werewolf the Apocalypse?

There's a few different layers. The first and most obvious is the strong environmental message - it's frustrating as fuck if someone recycles, reduces their carbon footprint, etc. etc. and then gets confronted with industry and commerce acting like clean drinking water and oxygen are nothing important. The rage and combat capacity of the Garou allows for emotional catharsis.

Second, the spiritual aspect - the game has a complex take on animism, reincarnation and the idea that all things have a spiritual reflection. Given that many have lost way with organised religion and it's representatives, it posits a world were the spiritual, the religious, cannot be denied.

Also the tribal identity aspect; Urban primitive culture; The fact certain tribes are tied to certain ethnic cultures and places, allowing for nationalists; the warrior culture, straining for Glory, Honor and Wisdom in a haze of righteousness...

oh yeah, and a bunch of other changing breeds for fans of other animals.

If you've ever wanted to beat drums around a fire to a Sepultura album, or dealt with anger and depression issues, enquire with your ST if Werewolf is the right drug for you.

Entropy isn't simply the energies of death, it also seems to involve elements of chance or "luck". It's the most subtle way to cheap at Craps.

Contact the tourist bureau or chamber of commerce in the city in question, ask them to send you a map. Most tourist pamphlets and maps are given away for free, or for pocket change.

If Gaia was dead, you would be too. You are part of Gaia, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not.

Fuck off hippy

I'm not going anywhere, and you can't make me. :)

No. This world is dead. Gaia has fallen, choked by the Weavers webs and the Wyrm's fluids. We are living on a corpse whose rot substains those that have supported the rights side. Join now.

HA! And here people accuse the Mages of hubris!

Gaia cannot have fallen. The biosphere has not collapsed and we are all still alive. Even if you succeeded in fouling the nest so badly you kill all humanity in the process, the planet will recover in a few dozen centuries and a new species will claim the rubble of your civilization. You are a speck in the eye of eternity. Your attempts are nothing. The Great Wheel will turn once more. The Mokole remember.

Fucking LARPers. It's like having Jim Profit back.

>What is the appeal of Werewolf the Apocalypse?
>There's a few different layers

So, it's a game for bitter, furry-loving hippies who support eco-terrorists.

Glad we cleared that up.

Furries, mostly. And the potential of yiff fiction

So Werewolf is just a game for angry treehuggers and neopagan furries ?
Honestly, by any right, werewolves should have been the first supes to go extinct and I don't even see the point or logic of playing them in modern WoD games
Maybe Dark Eras or Dark Ages, but even then, by the 19th century, most of them are fucking done, at least in Europe
Some might subsist in parts of the globe that remained wild but inserting them in cities and in WoD-type intrigues seems a bit absurd

Take your hormones, Tequila, you're being a bitch again.

>STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE
>IT'S STUPID BECAUSE I HATE IT
>MY STUFF IS AWESOME BECAUSE I LIKE IT

Wow, is it Summer Holidays already?

Found the furry

>point out design flaws
>"U R MEANIES GB2 SKOOL"
ok kid

At this point I genuinely feel most of you would only be happy if we stopped having /wodg/ threads altogether. All you ever respond with is toxic buttspew and vitriol, shitting all over the games you allegedly "love" and taking potshots at everyone who walks at Onyx Path and White Wolf except the fucking janitor.

Turn off the computer and live a little. This is just fucking pathetic.

Man, at least the mageposting sometimes spurs people actually talking. Forum grade roleplay is such horseshit. If quests got banished, this shit should be too.

>directing ad hominem attacks at players I've never met and insisting the wolf populations of the real world make a game of make believe about faeries and wizards unbelievable is "pointing out design flaws"

>anyone who points out juvenile behaviour should be shamed with more juvenile behaviour

You really need to be 18 to post here, children. Do your parents know you disabled Netnanny?

I am pretty happy with the amount of vitriol and hate here, thank you

It's almost as if there's a concerted effort to kill the general
But in the end it comes down to people being little bitches who can't bear other people having fun
I would love to have a place to discuss WoD with rational people, but there isn't, so I just stay here because I'm used to it
If we could at least get rid of the politics, that would be a good start

>It's almost as if there's a concerted effort to kill the general

We should be so lucky. I sometimes pray some of you die screaming, choking on your own intestines. No offense.

>What is the appeal of Werewolf the Apocalypse?

To me the appeal is the conflict of ancient society in modern times and a game of hubris (which does a better job at it that Awakening IMO).

Is about the the question on what exactly make you a good "person" in a society that glorifies you from the get go and temps you constantly to abuse that power.

Is about finding yourself in a society that has a noble goal but has shitty people in it that you cant simply cut away from but have to work with. Its a fundamentalist society of Crusaders that will glorify you if you join them to save the world "their way" but will resist you any other kind of method that isnt theirs.

TL:DR: Game of Thrones with fur.

How so? WW and OPP have always been political (as Elricson reminded us), so you can't really divide the two

>toxic buttspew and vitriol
Kek. Go to the OPP Forums

I've got an idea. Let's talk about why is A Thousands Years of Night shite instead.
I'll start - terrible editing of example char stat sheets - Disciplines over 5 and secondary attributes don't add up

>I would love to have a place to discuss WoD with rational people

People here are way more rational than anything you can find on OPP or RPG.net which is a very low bar.

Suggestion for an alternate Werewolf :
>Gaia is dead, the changing breeds have failed in their mission
>they are now considered with universal distrust by spirits
>they cannot access their war-forms, save for a very select few that have found a way to reclaim it, but that requires arduous research and training to attune yourself with the wounded part of Gaia that lies dormant within them
>the Wyrm has implanted itself deeply into the world, but now that Gaia is out of the way, it has taken the back seat and is waging a lazy war against the Architect, which he grew bored of
>the Architect is still fucking bonkers and trying to build even more separations everywhere
>changing breeds powers come exclusively from binding, consuming or bartering with spirits, which doesn't make them any more popular than they already are
>they started treating with human ghosts too, and developed close ties with Geists

I don't remember very clearly everything about Werewolf so please feel free to point out errors or make suggestions

Geists are nuWOD, but otherwise, it sounds good. Perhaps tying crinos more tightly to lunar phases, since Luna is the only great spirit left that would patronize the failed Fera

Well not crinos, since they would have been locked out of their ability to become hybrids, but they would definitely be compelled a lot harder by Luna
We could make the rage more problematic and not as much form dependent, subjected to the mood of lunar spirits
I could see Luna being very angry at the weres for letting Gaia die and depriving them of their most powerful shape while making them rage regardless of the form and sometimes completely out of phase with their usual cycle

Folk who like apocalypse also like being brought up as human but fucking wolves, it's disgusting

>werewolf is an outlet for angry hippies

>If we could at least get rid of the politics, that would be a good start
You'll have to bring that up with the developers.

If you're sick of the politics in the published material, maybe you can just ignore them (as it's been stated hundreds of times) and maybe you can abstain from bringing them into these discussions
Meanwhile, people are proposing creative solutions and getting completely ignored because apparently, you prefer shit-flinging to entertainment

...

Make that into the next OP image, it'll be more accurate than vampires or wolves

What would be the spirit of Rank 10? Shadow itself?

Are there even rank 9 spirits ?
I thought it stopped at 8

Wouldn't 10 be the God-Machine ?

God.

That's not me being trite; one of the examples in 1e was Ain Soph, which is a name for God in Kabbalah.

Suffice to say, Rank 10 entities probably don't give much of a shit about human affairs. The Exarchs probably aren't Rank 10, but they're definitely Rank 8-9, and are a weird exception because their dominion is exclusively for humanity.

...

Mages can destroy the world. Even the God would care about this one.

Potentially. Or it might see the world as a passing blip and Mages as insignificant blips on blips. The world ends, it shrugs, waves its hand and starts anew.

Posting again for the new thread
Would anybody be interested in a Werewolf 2e game?
I'm looking for 1 more player, to, ideally, play an Ithaeur Bone Shadow(we already have one of every other auspice and tribe, and I'm a fan of rounding things out, but it's not necessary).
>Game is set in Portland, Oregon
>PC Woofs know each other through University of Portland
>Game is starting with the Pack having recently formed
>Nobody else in the group has ever played cofd before(I've played a few games and run a few games, but I apparently have the patience of a saint so I'm fine with teaching them as we play).
>Saturdays, Noon-3PM, roughly, GMT -7
>Rats#9479
>IC text through roll20, OOC voice through Discord
>Yiff is ban, no mages allowed, no awoo, $250 fine

If you're sick of the people complaining about politics in the published material, maybe you can just fuck off (as it's been stated hundreds of times) and maybe you can abstain from bringing it up into these discussions

Im gonna have to complain about the complainers complaining about politics

Wait, is the tower itself an entity?

Reality is the uninterested IT specialist hitting the reset button. Have you tried turning it off and on?

Think it like this, if we dont complain then OPP wins. They already ban criticism from their forums and infected RPG.NET with their faggotry.

This is the only place we got ourselves to freely voice how shitty of a direction OPP is going

Apocalypse is a game about doomed warriors fighting hopeless battle against impossible odds. Beyond that, it's a game about history and how the actions of the past have consequences in the future. Many of the problems the garou currently face have been made drasticly worse by decision the garou made in the distant past.

As for Forsaken... It's a game of spiritual border patrol... And also hunting.

Question, could any werewolf at all have any chance of taking a mage? A low generation vampire has a chance but what about werewolves?

Can someone post the oWoD power scaling chart?

A starting level werewolf will most likely obliterate a starting level mage, but mages scale a lot better while werewolves start amazing and end up comparatively useless

Taboo and morals. People just don't like being a necromancer unless they can go full on evil even if entropy is mostly more versital than spirit until you can just make a spirit who ca do anything you want it to.

How does the Hedge map to normal time and space?

Could someone conceivably get lost in the Hedge and accidentally exit on the surface of mars or 4 years into the past from the time they entered?

Kay need a quick thing from people on Mage the Awakening.

What's the difference between first and second edition? Fluff, mechanics?

fluff mage 1e is just lacking obsessions and mysteries. Mechanics wise 2e is better coherently. It's overpowered as fuck though and it's hard to come up with threats past arcana 4 that don't cheat to make sure they remain credible. Seriously if two mages have different arcana the one who wins is the one who throws the first bullet unless they have prime to stand a chance.

To someone entirely new to these games, how do the many aspects of the supernatural world interact with each other? See each other?

>Apocalypse is a game about doomed warriors fighting hopeless battle against impossible odds.

Apocalypse is a game about eco-terrorists who have a history of extreme genocide and still pine for the good ol' days

FIFY.

Is this bitch seriously the strongest werewolves have to offer? A gen 5 Vamp can take her on

Zhyzhak, chosen child of the Green Dragon
Breed: Homid
Auspice: Ahroun
Tribe: Black Spiral Dancers
Rank: 6
Physical: Strength 7 (9/11/10/8), Dexterity 5 (5/6/7/7), Stamina 6 (8/9/9/8)
Social: Charisma 5, Manipulation 2 (1/0/0/0), Appearance 4 (3/0/4/4)
Mental: Perception 4, Intelligence 2, Wits 4
Talents: Alertness 5, Athletics 5, Brawl 5, Dodge 5, Intimidation 5, Primal-Urge 5, Streetwise 3
Skills: Drive 1, Firearms 4, Leadership 5, Melee 5, Stealth 5, Survival 5
Knowledges: Enigmas 3, Investigation 2, Medicine 2, Occult 5, Politics 4, Rituals 4
Backgrounds: Personal Totem 20
Rage: 10
Gnosis: 10
Willpower: 10
Fetish: Btk'uthoklnto. Her Devilwhip operates as a normal whip, except in that it does Strength+3 of aggravated damage.
Gifts: (1) Bane Protector, Falling Touch, Inspiration, Master of Fire, Razor Claws, Sense Wyrm, Toxic Claws; (2) Horns of the Impaler, Sense Silver, Spirit of the Fray, Staredown, Terrify, True Fear, Wyrm Hide; (3) Dagger of the Mind, Disquiet, Foaming Fury, Silver Claws; (4) Clenched Jaw, Cocoon, Crawling Poison, Open Wounds; (5) Avatar of the Wyrm, Balefire, Kiss of Helios, Part the Veil.
Rites: None that you'll ever get to see and live.
Note: As the Green Dragon chosen child, Zhyzhak can vomit toxic flames at an opponent three times a day. The attack has a range of six feet and can be dodged at difficulty 6, but this requires at least four successes. In addition, she has one extra die to soak damage.

she can breathe flames. The vampire runs for the hills in that instant

Loosely. There aren't going to be many paths that lead off planet, with all the sci-fi stories that are told, i suppose they could exist. I don't think you can go back in time through the Hedge, but time dilation can occur; you could spend an hour in the Hedge and find that either barely a minute has passed in the real world, or that it's been days.

Hypocrite.

>just ignore what you don't like and stop doing this thing i don't like

Most of the disciplines at higher levels make short work of flames

Right, and all vampires have those? What Disciplines and at what levels, anyway?

you still have to roll for Rötschreck

The tower itself is supposed to be Gan's body, and Gan is basically god.

...

wolffags are not the hero we need but the hero we deserve

Can you still play as a Tremere in the Antitribu mod for Bloodlines?

I wanted to play as a Tremere with Necromancy and Obtenebration

Tier list of M:tAw paths? I'd say from strongest to weakest is:
Acanthus
Mastigos
Thyrsus
Obrimos
Moros

Why does the OP link to ? The last thread was .

We shall not mention that foul abomination.

>Thyrsus above Obrimos

Pray tell, chap, whatever made you think that?

You're a genius
Thanks

Fluffwise, werewolves are the psychotic nutters who are involved in a minor racial holy war that nobody wants any part of. Mages are inscrutable freaks who turn up where you don't want them to be and are best kept far away from anything you like, because if they want to know, they'll find out. Vampires are emo leeches and probably manifestations of the abyss/wounds, depending on who you ask.

Spirit is kind of the "Do anything" arcana.

What was so bad about it?

As much as you want them two, the fluff is pretty open on to interpretation on that one.

Is there any game with both casters and not-casters that doesn't have the casters super weak starting out and god-tier later?

Spirit is the whore Arcana. You have suck off so many spirits or pay them to suck your dick to get anything done. And if you don't pay their pimps step and eat your soul.

Still damn strong if you're good with it.

This general is refined autism. The last thread was even worse, it was literally nothing about WoD until like 100 posts in and then it turned into magefags arguing about which arcana could do what.

Why would anyone want to kill the general? It's more likely that we just have a bunch of all-natural shitheads infesting it, WoD does tend to attract those kinds of people.

In WoD, you can replace mages with hedge wizards and psychics, which combined with Hunter and with a bit of tweaking, can make some pretty solid characters
I like it a lot better than Mage

Do you need to talk to someone? You seem upset.

Anything like that for CofD?

It's the only place that won't ban me for calling out OPP on retconning Jews from oWoD.

How about for other splats/subsplats too? Like tiers of V:tR clans? Does anyone have any impressions on that?

I still don't know why they got rid of them, Jews could make such good antagonists, they're basically the Seers of the Throne.
