Posted in the last thread. Any Guard players mind checking out my list?

They were one of the best units in the chaos codex but that's not saying a lot, besides in Reivers are anything to go by an extra wound if worth 3 points at most. Makes sense too with how many weapons there are with more than 1 damage.

What does the heavy weapon matter? In 5 Plague Marines I can take either two special weapons and a combi-weapon OR two Blight Launchers, which are better than most of the Heavy weapons CSM have access to. Meanwhile CSM get 1 potential Combi-Weapon, 1 Special/Heavy with a second Special/Heavy at 10 points. The CSM have a bigger footprint, worse firepower and thanks to the bigger unit size are actually more expensive. Their Grenades and melee attacks also don't reroll 1s To Wound. T5, 5+ FnP is also massively survivable. While a CSM takes 9 Bolter shots to take down, the Plague Marine requires 20.25.

i'm about to convert one of the figures from the deathguard into typhus (i have one but i got a 2nd chinacast one to make a bigger typhus.)
i'm thinking of taking the lord and either:
a: clipping his wrists off so the scythe is on his right and he's bringing it upwards in a forward swing
or
B: clipping the hands off the weapon and having it so the scythe is on the left side.

> Model A: Units within 12" of this model have -1Ld > Unit B (Enemy): Units within 12" of this model can use their Leadership in place of their own
I have a rules question. Let's say I have a Hemlock Wraithfighter, and my opponent is IG. They have a Commissar-Conscript horde within 12". What is the Leadership of the Conscripts?
> 7 The Commissar grants them his Ld8, which is then reduced to 7.
> 6 The Commissar is reduced to Ld7. He grants this to the Conscripts, who are then reduced to Ld6.

Of all the Primaris models so far, this guy is probably my favorite. He strikes that perfect balance between "noble healer clad in immaculate white armour" and "brutal, practical field surgeon who mercy-kills with one pistol, then shoots your head and neck off with the other to get your geneseed". It also helps that the old Apothecary and indeed the entire Command Squad box, is fucking ancient.
Oliver Thompson
I get that plague marines are better vs Bolters but quite frankly i face a lot of shit that isn't bolters since not every player in the world plays marines. Plague Marines are barely better against S3 shooting and a 10 man squad of CSM with two heavy weapons has always seemed the far better choice to me than equivalent points in plague marines due to the extra bolter shots. Yeah they work well as small plasma carriers i suppose but at that point i would probably run fallen as cheaper dudes who can take five combi-plasma and reroll 1s on their own.
Jayden Thomas
Boltguns. Far more versatile. And yes, the soulreaper cannon is absolutely worth it.
Jack Ross
I wished they would just have called them what they are
Truescale marines
and made no rules or fluff bullshit around them
Asher Roberts
I'd say if the Commisar is within the Hemlock's AoE, it's 7, otherwise it's 8. If it only affects the 'scripts, then they still get their own, now even shittier, Ld overwritten by the unaffected Commisar.
Lincoln Thomas
Should I get into Tau?
William Perez
So in the new codex, the land raider Excelsior isn't present? Can I still use the rules from the indexes? What about the HQ's on bikes - are those models dead now?
Grayson Ortiz
I mean if they just released them and basically said "They're replacing your shit." The space marine players would all throw an even bigger bitch fit anyways.
Jackson Williams
I for one welcome this new age that prevents new bullshit to rise, now if only scattbikes were gone for good, this game would truly begin to heal.
Eli Anderson
>Plague Marines are barely better against S3 shooting 33% is a bit more than "barely better" >10 man squad of CSM with two heavy weapons is illegal. You get either 1 special, 1 heavy or 2 special. Also don't forget the Blight Launcher, which is better than all the other special weapons.
Brayden Martinez
I would say that the Conscripts have Ld 8, unless the Commissar is in range of the effect, then it's 7.

>seriously its not a replacement for manlet-marines Has GW ever said that?
It seems obvious to me that what's happening to Space marines right now is exactly what GW did to most of the fantasy armies.
Dwarves for example. WFB Dwarves are still valid in game, they have rules as "the dispossessed" . But all the new dwarven models being produced are for the 2 new "dwarf" factions, steampunk dwarves, and angry naked dwarves.
Dwarves as they were before are now a legacy army, support for them is being discontinued and they are slowly being phased out with the 2 new dwarf factions taking their place.
The same thing is happening to marines right now. I would be surprised if manlet marines get any new models. Instead, primaris will continue to be expanded, and manlets will take a back seat.
Austin Adams
Now if only they would do their fucking job and nerf necrons.
Grayson Torres
Sure why not
Gabriel Butler
Everything that wasn't overwritten can still be used. Aka you're supposed to use the new Datasheet for Intercessors, Reivers etc but stuff that didn't get an updated datasheet is still valid from the Index. The Primaris Rhino and Excelsior Land Raider, the Imperial Space Marine and the Bike HQs are still valid, just don't expect them to get updated in the near future.
Says he cant show points sheet because of NDA but talks about changes: Khan has lost moondraken (lol) Dreadnoughts have lost twin heavy flamer, twin heavy bolter and lost twin autocanon (although possibly just because they're forgeworld index rules instead of being in the codex, see later) (rip rifleman dreds) Sergeants cant take combi-grav Honour Guard can only take power axes (no relic blades/thunderhammers) Chief Librarian Tigurius can throw out his Master of Prescience to a nearby 6" unit. Datasheets not in the codex: Land Raider Excelsior, Tyrannic War Veterans, Terminus Ultra, Imperial Marine, Librarian on a bike, Techmarine on a bike, Chaplain on a bike, Apothecary on a bike, Chapter Ancient on a bike, Company Champion on a bike, Company Veterans on bikes.
POINTS CHANGES Non primaris Lieutenant = 60pts total, primaris version 70pts total Big bobby G same points cost, stormravens also Hunter tank is -30pts, Marneus Calgar -50 pts, Ironclad dred -40pts, Chaplain Cassius -40pts. Emperors Champion -33pts, Sergeant Chronus -23pts, Captain in Terminator armour -17pts, Sergeant Telion +(plus)14pts, Librarian -2 pts, Chapter Champion -5pts, Sternguard -1pt (special-issue boltgun got reduced by 1point) Bikes -6pts, Attack bike -10pts, Inceptors -15pts, Land Speeder -10pts, Drop pods -10pts, Land Speeder Storm -10pts Primaris Hellblasts 2 points more expensive but their guns are 2 cheaper so the same

Page 215 – Sudden Death Change point 2 to read: ‘If at the end of any turn after the first battle round, one player has no models on the battlefield, the game ends immediately and their opponent automatically wins a crushing victory. When determining if a player has any units on the battlefield, do not include any units with the Flyer Battlefield Role – these units cannot operate within a combat airspace indefinitely and they cannot hold territory without ground support. Furthermore, do not include any units with the Fortification Battlefield Role unless they have a unit embarked inside – even the most formidable bastion requires a garrison if it is to pose a threat.’
I get they wanted to end lists that were just all stormravens, but doesn't this also kill all air-cav? Unless you drop your passengers out turn one it's an auto-lose.
Connor Martin
And get this: those faggots expect people to pay 5 bucks a month to watch their content. THIS sort of content.
Levi Stewart
33% for more than 50% extra points. Yeah i guess you get a plasma plus a lascannon or heavy bolter or something but you also get several more bolter shots, if the entire squad was packing blight launchers or something that would be awesome but they aren't.
Carson Gonzalez
Looks fine to me.

There's a tiny piece that goes into the main torso part underneath the plate with the Aquila on it. Then you attach the Aquila plate over that.

Start Collecting box + Kastellans seems the way to go.

Is the commissar within 12"? No? Then their leadership isn't reduced at all.
Is the commissar in 12"? Yes? Then the conscripts get 7 leadership.
They're USING the commissar's leadership, they don't take it and then stack the same effect.
Jonathan King
Its just that the datasheet isnt in there. Is his model still available, if not thatd explain it. Seems like they're removing rules for models they dont make any more but i dont know shit about white scars. See rifleman dreds.
Levi Lee
I'm fleshing out the lore of my chapter and I have a question: are Space Marine fleets comprised entirely of Adeptus Astartes vessels (ie. Battle Barge, etc) or can ships of the Imperial Navy be present too? Like can the flagship of a chapter be an Emperor-class ship? Or can they only be boring battlebarges?
Juan Adams
Any recommendations on what I could improve, though? Like, will it be able to hold up to armies of equivalent points?
I've played 4 games of 8th and every single one resulted in me being tabled. I'm sick of it.
Brody Baker
This. Or Start Collecting + Kataphron Destroyers for another troop slot and some more firepower. Really just Start Collecting or 2, and then whatever models you like from there.

pretty sure passengers in transports would count as "on the battlefield" for those purposes. they count for the units in reserve limit

An additional D6 hits for all flame weapons, and an additional D3 damage for all melta weapons.
Sounds pretty good, don't know if I agree that it's the best but I'm also not the type to build WAAC lists either so maybe there's some great synergy I'm not seeing.
Christopher Wilson
But you can take 5 Plague Marines with 2 Blight Launchers. 133 points, take a decent amount of firepower to shit and will continue to shoot 4 S6 AP-2 D:D3 shots every turn like clockwork until your opponent deals with them. Keep two or three such squads aroung a cheap Chaos Lord and you have a relatively effective bastion of firepower.
Bolters are never good. The only way S4 AP0 D1 shots are ever good is when they come in massive quantities and preferably as auto-hits. For reference, see Taurox Primes, Flamer Crisis Suits and Aggressors.
Luke Nguyen
some battle barges are actually refitted navy ships.
pretty sure the space wolves have one thats an Emperor class hull.
>I'm fleshing out the lore of my chapter and I have a question: are Space Marine fleets comprised entirely of Adeptus Astartes vessels (ie. If Space Marines somehow got a hold of an Imperial Navy vessel, they probably would be able to hold onto it. The Navy certainly couldn't take it away.
Logan Torres
It should work/10
Hunter Thompson
All flamer weapons always roll a 6 for number of shots and all melta weapons always roll a 6 for damage.
Adrian Baker
No, embarked units are not on the battlefield.
Yes you need to drop at least some of your passengers turn 1. Just put them out of LoS and/or on backfield objectives. Alternatively take a cheap bunker and stick some troop tax guys inside.

In Battlefleet Gothic, you could take Imperial escorts in your fleet. As other anons have pointed out, a lot of battle barges are refitted IN ships, so I don't see an issue with it.

?
